This is so cute. If you like royal stories and from enemy to lover (frenemy), you should read this. Highly recommend. Prince Odin of Laandia need to find a true loves and will get married soon to Lady Camille in 6 weeks. In 6 weeks, too many things happened to them because of ten years back tragedy where Prince Odin said that he is not in love with Lady Camille after they had exchanges hundred of letters.

this was a sweet and lighthearted royal romance. it is medium paced in my opinion, but the writing is really easy to follow. i loved how we got both camille's and odin's pov. the story was cute and i definitely enjoyed it but i guess i was expecting something a bit different. the premise of the book seemed more interesting than the actual plot. i just felt that it was repetitive at times. i will be reading other books in this series though as i am interested in the other brothers!

Camille and Odin met 10 years ago at a ball. Upon their first meeting, it was love at first sight. An instant connection. However after many letters exchanged, their relationship fell away.
That is until these two find themselves in an arranged marriage.
Odin is attempting to cover up an embarrassing on screen break up.
Camille is on arranged engagement number seven.
Can these two get over their history together to make this marriage work?
Camille is everything. I love her spunk. Her passion. Her determination to never be stepped on. She is a bad ass and I love her !!
Odin is everything we dream of in a prince, but also way hotter with the strong Viking blood in his veins.
I loved the story of Odin and Camille’s first meeting. The only thing that kind of crushed me was not knowing what for sure made Odin stop responding? I feel like there’s more to the story in their falling apart than what we are given.

I read this book as an ARC and enjoyed the classic royal romance. The love story between Odin and Camille was cute but I truly enjoyed both characters maturing and realizing they had some baggage.
I did find the plot and overall romance a bit lacking and at time it was hard to determine if the POV character was thinking something internally or speaking out loud which made some of the chapters hard to get through. I did however enjoy seeing Camille find a family that made her feel safe and that she could be herself.
Overall cute but basic storyline of falling in love young and finding their way back to each other without a lot of plot or details regarding what occurred over the last 10 years or what they’d like to become in the next stage of their lives. I hope the rest of the series expands further.

I need the next book and I need it now!!
If you’re looking for a swoon worthy read, this is it! This will they/won’t they story is so cute and heartwarming. Everything from the MCs to Odin’s brothers to Betty White made me giddy. If you’re looking for a swoon worthy read, this is it! The land of Laandia sounds so lush and calming, The way Holly describes the town makes me feel like I’m actually there, breathing in the fresh, ocean air. There is so much more I wanted to know! Can’t wait for the next book in the series 👑

A second chance for the love at first sight Camille and Odin experienced ten years ago? Maybe. The start of an international incident? More than likely. That was so cute and so fun, even if the two of them drove me a little batty that they couldn’t own up to their feelings. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this couple get to know who each other now as opposed to the teenagers who were infatuated so long ago. Their antics and banter kept me highly entertained. I loved where Camille and Odin are when this story ends, but there’s so much more I still want to know. It’s probably a good thing that it sounds like this is the launch of a new series for the author. I’m already anxiously waiting to find out what’s going to happen next.

Their dynamic was kinda confusing and we didn’t get to see much of their real relationship… and not even writing about the wedding?! I feel like the ending was just… not an ending?! So mad about that…

The premise was interesting. The actual book. Not so much. I liked the vibes more than the actual plot.
The writing wasn't for me and I was quite disappointed about a lot of things. It was so hard to root for Odin. he was being such an idiot the whole book! There's this quote in this book from odin's perspective that sums him up perfecly. "“Oh.” Dating my wife-to-be. It makes sense. I should have thought of that. Why didn’t I think of that?"
EXACLY, yOU MORON. WHY DIDN'T YOU? Oh my god and it was like that all the time. He ignored her when she came there alone, he didn't tell her in advance anything to warn her, and don't even get me started on the engagement ring fiasco. Oh my god, I wanted to strangle and shake him and punch him repeatedly. He wanted to marry her because he told the world what happened between them years prior without even warning her, but hot pissed about her having her own agenda? Asshole.
The only redeeming thing about Odin I found was how into her he was from the beginning. Being scared but aroused, comparing her to Valkyrie etc. But I was really disappointed about his arc.
Which brings me to Camille. I liked her and was on her side (and she finally began wearing colors! I was hoping this would happen!) but one thing I was really hoping for which we never got was a confrontation with her father. He hated her and put her down and we never saw her standing up to him with Odin by her side. He was just gone and we never got a closure about it. I wanted it to happen and was very disappointed when we didn't get that.
In all, the premise was good but the book wasn't my favourite. Writing was very simple - sometimes too simple - and I just wasn't very into that. I won't be reading any more books in the series.

Camille was such a strong-willed gem, and boy did she make Odin woooork to make up for his past mistakes.
Odin is a literal Viking prince, and I loved seeing him fall for Camille.
Royal Rumble was such a fun time that had me all in and rooting for the couple. With such a great cast of supporting characters, this book was a heartwarming start to a series.

this was an enjoyable and entertaining read and start to the series! this book follows odin and camille reconnecting for a marriage of convenience after not seeing each other for 10 years, after a night at the ball together and they have to navigate their past and future together and figure out if this marriage is what’s best for them! i love a marriage of convenience and adding the royal mix to it was so cute! the royals in this book are unconventional and fun and it was refreshing to read!

I loved the story of this royal romance. Odin and Camille reconnect after a decade, but will they like each other? How will this work out? Find out from each character’s perspective. Excellent detailed descriptions of Odin & Camille, along with the country of Laandia. I want to visit Laandia! Very excited to read the next book to find out what happens next. #RoyalRumble

My journey to Laandia did not disappoint. Prince Odin and Lady Camille’s second chance romance was a perfect beach read. I loved the characters, especially Lady Camille as a strong woman lead. Odin and his brothers were compelling and I look forward to spending more time in Laandia with them.
Royal Rumble definitely earned bonus points with me for its references to and locations in Canada, plus it even managed to work in a reality TV show to the plot. Super fun read!

If you grew up watching prince and me, the princess diaries or even the swan princess this is the story for you! It such a cosy cute read. Camille and Odin are the cutest characters ever, you instantly fall in love with them 🥰

Prince Odin of Laandia never expected he would be humiliated on national tv, and unwittingly reveals his deepest secrets in his shock. To save face, he organises for an arranged marriage to occur between himself, and his former friend and ex, Lady Camille of Saint Pierre, with the engagement being announced on the same night as his humiliation is aired. However, Camille is not excited by the marriage, as Odin broke her heart all those years ago, but in order to become prefect of her homeland, she needs to marry first, and she's already got a string of failed engagements under her belt. Odin is her final hope, but she's not about to let him forget he hurt her.
I'm going to admit that I've had this book on my NG shelf longer than I should have, and it was when the third book became available that I decided to binge them all. On one hand, I'm glad I waited because I could read all 3 in a few days, but also I wish I'd read this earlier as it was so good! Camille and Odin first met 10 years ago, when his family was visiting Saint Pierre, and they fell in love under the fireworks. Keeping in touch as pen pals, Odin soon stopped replying, breaking Camille's heart. Since then, she's been engaged 6 times, but all have fallen through as she's never been able to commit to a loveless marriage. Odin is her final hope so that she can inherit her rightful place as Prefect of the small French territory, and it hurts that she has to accept him. Odin never realised the depth of her feelings, but has always cared for her, and when he was a suitor on The Suitorette, he accidentally shared his love of Camille - naming her in the process - when he was rejected. Knowing it would be humiliating for the episode to air without something else to take attention from it, he organises the engagement, not seeing Camille until the moment it's announced, and she's pissed to say the least. The book was full of Odin and his brother's trying to work out how to solve their problems, and wooing Camille. I loved this book! It was everything I look for in a romance- main characters that I want to be friends with, unexplored feelings, cast of memorable supporting characters, and of course a happily ever after. Plus, this is the start of a series and I can't wait to read the rest of them.

Her father, the current prefect, wants her to shrink into the background (hello graupe dress) and enter into an arranged marriage that will be beneficial to both nations. Camille has 6 broken engagements because she wants more than an arranged marriage and fading into the background. This time she is hopeful, she met Prince Odin 10 years ago and can't forget him even though her broke her heart. Will the connection still be there? Will the Prince want her to be herself?

This is my first introduction to Kerr’s writing, and traditionally – I don’t read romantic-comedies (rom-coms). I’m more of a romantic-suspense, or straight romance type. Yet, something about this story grabbed me.
I think most people, at least those alive back in 1981, got their royal wedding fix (and fantasy) with Charles and Diana’s wedding. It was, at the time, a true fairytale. As I was little – I didn’t remember it at all. I know they were married July 29, 1981 (a day after my mom’s birthday). My mom was in the hospital and saw the wedding on TV when it aired. That was on 7/28 here in the U.S, making her believe, for years, it was on her birthday.
But, just 30 years later, on my own birthday – 4/29/2011 – Prince William and Catherine Middleton got married. So, that’s my “fairytale” there. I did find that odd though – Charles/Diana around my mom’s birthday; William and Catherine on my ACTUAL birthday.
I’m sure most girls (and some women) wouldn’t mind that fairytale happily ever after. I’m sure that some dreamed of finding a prince and marrying him. Me? That was never me. Not really. Not in for all the pomp, grandeur, and chaos that is royal life.
The first book – in any type of series, regardless of genre – is a difficult one to set up. The author has to set-up a recurring theme and story, tell a complete story to somewhat wrap up by the end of the book, and introduce all the characters in the series while focusing only on the main characters for the current story.

There are very little content or trigger warnings. There is the beginning of something – “chickens …”, but it is cut off. There is a use of bad@$$. This is not on page or even a key part of the story, and is mentioned casually.

Camille and Odin’s marriage is about on the same order. She needs to get married to assume the position of prefect for St. Pierre. She’s doing it more or less for the people of the island as her father’s cousin (the next relation in line) wants to pawn the island off on Spain who intend to turn it into another Alcatraz. Camille can’t let that happen though.
She’s already had six (6) failed engagements, and can’t afford to lose this one.
But, she’s also devastated that her husband-to-be revealed she was a past love during his time on the reality show The Suitorette, even worse is the episode airs on the same day they announce their engagement.
As it turns out, 10 years earlier, Camille and Odin met – sort of fell in love. She wrote letters, and then – heard nothing from him. So, the marriage is presented as a “rekindled friendship to romance” – which it is ANYTHING but.
She’s then forced to stay in Laandia until the wedding to ensure it happens. But, it isn’t a happy time, and she exiles herself to her room for a few days. One thing she is aware of when she leaves her room – there are a certain group of “fans” – the Odinites, who don’t like her and want her to go home. Camille isn’t opposed to the idea.
However, as she needs this “alliance” – she has to stay put. She also wants to know why Odin went on the show, and he wants to know why she stopped writing him. It is a recurring theme throughout the book.
They slowly start spending time together, and even though it is “fake” – Odin wants it to be more, and Camille does as well.
During a shopping spree, she begins to wonder if she does want to return to St. Pierre and realizes she misses nothing about the island. She is wondering if the uncertainty surrounding the future of the island is a bad thing.
She eventually warms up to the idea of making it a “real” marriage, which Odin has no issue with. But, he isn’t sure how he really feels about her. He likes her, loves her, could love her 🤷🏻♀️💁🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️(really, dude?)
However, the past creeps into the relationship, as well as personal agendas that threaten the marriage before they even say “I do”.
As someone who hasn’t read many rom-coms – I was immediately drawn in by it and there were times I was laughing, times I was frustrated, and times I wanted Betty White to pee on someone 🤣 I was invested in the brothers, Kate, Jackson, and even King Magnus.
Kerr is spot on when it comes to the “groupies” who follow someone and seemingly think they know better. In some cases, it is referred to as a “fandom”.
Having been part of one (a successful TV series that is STILL airing) from about 2011-2015 – I saw and read a LOT of stuff – some? Disturbing. The only reason I was in the group to begin with – I liked the TV show (still do despite all the cast changes). I also met some good people. Around 2014, we began parting ways. By 2018 none of us were in contact with each other, which I’m okay with. But, it gave me an inside look at some of the more “rabid” fans and how scary they can get when they don’t get their own way – either with TV actors, movie actors, or even other types of public figures. Odin sees it when he’s out shopping with Camille, even going so far as to wonder why the fans would think that reviling her would make him like them. I’ve long wondered that too.
I had a HUGE laugh with this line “Kalle tried to explain it to me, after he overheard a few of the more die-hards at his bar. Holding a meeting in the bar owned by the heir to the king, really shows how little these people do think”. Honestly, I gave up wondering what people were thinking and pondered what they were thinking with, or if they were even thinking at all. It was SO refreshing to see an author bring that up.
While Odin tried to be more approachable – that had a dark side as well – his “fans” only wanted him with one of their own, definitely not Camille.
I LOVED the references to the movie Frozen with the “be less Elsa, more Anna. I definitely knew what Madam Carol meant. It is a sad, but sweet movie – like most Disney films are. And, yes – I absolutely LOVED “Let it Go”.
I also loved the reference to The Golden Girls (TV series) with Camille naming her dog Betty White since that was her favorite. In a hilarious twist, Odin preferred Estelle Getty. And, I have to say – I did love Sassy Sofia! The Golden Girls was one of the RARE tv shows my late grandma enjoy. I remember many nights watching it (before DVRs were thought of) with her and my mom.
To be honest – I’m really not a fan of the illustrated/faceless covers. There’s just something too juvenile and/or unoriginal about them. So, that didn’t really stand out to me.
There were a few typos and an error. One was about a Mario Kart game. Odin makes a reference about playing it on the PlayStation, yet Mario games were (at least in the U.S) exclusive to Nintendo devices. I wasn’t able to find a game on Amazon, eBay, or any other research.
Even though this is a new-to-me author, she won’t stay that way. I’ll likely read Gunnar’s story in Royal Retelling coming this May (or as soon as the paperback is released). His story gets hinted at in this book, with the epilogue being from his POV. Also, Camille and Odin’s wedding won’t be until that book – so, it’s definitely on my TBR.
I’m also wondering if each sibling is going to have a story as I definitely want to read Kalle, Bo, and Kyra’s stories. I’m also looking forward to Camille and/or Odin confronting Lord Arnaud who scurried off like a rat 🐀
I thought the potential pairing of Kate and Jackson was sort of humorous – there is an actress by the name of Kate Jackson who I loved watching in the 1980’s spy-rom-com Scarecrow and Mrs. King (1983-1987). If y’all haven’t watched that – it has its share of royals, fake-dating, intrigue, and sweet romances too.
The plot can seem slow and drag a bit in places. The short chapters did keep my attention and keep me reading. This is definitely a great little weekend read.

This was a very cute, sweet and heartfelt second chance romance!
Odin and Camille met 10 years prior and during a whirl wind romance Odin broke Camille’s heart and now he finds that he needs her hand and her forgiveness!
I found Odin and his brothers were very charming and I loved how supportive the royal family was. Camille and Odin had a lot to work on and I love that they pushed each other and helped each other grow from their mistakes and misunderstandings.
Odin and Camille met 10 years prior and during a whirl wind romance Odin broke Camille’s heart and now he finds that he needs her hand and her forgiveness!

This is "Royal Rumble" by Holly Kerr. The main genre for this is romance. We have two main characters Camille and Odin. Odin is a prince of a land called Laandia, and Camille is the daughter of a prefect from Saint Pierre. They have been put into an arranged marriage due to a mistake made by Prince Odin, however they both have something to gain in this marriage, but is there spark of love from their past connection still there?

The writing style in the book is very easy to get through, it was easy to follow and engaging, I loved reading the parts that were said in italics. I loved being in the head of the characters and knowing what they felt. The book I would say was fast paced, however that might be because I am a reader on the quicker side.

Camille: She is a strong willed lady, she does not care about others opinions on her. She has a lovely little dog called Betty White (love the name), who she takes care of very well. She is also good at reading people, like how she understood the personalities of Odin's brothers just from one dinner. I like how she did not let the reaction and actions of the people of Laadina get to her head, and instead of cowering in fear she talked back and showed them that she did not care. Literally girl boss. P.S I hate her father
Odin: Honestly at the start I felt that he was just dumb, as he made stupid mistakes and did not understand the very obvious things that everyone else can see. However, during the book he did end up redeeming himself. He listened and fixed his mistakes. Forgetting that he as a character is realistic, we all make mistakes and some things we do not realize until someone else tells us. I liked that from his POV we gained an understanding of his actions. P.S I love his father

This is a fun, light and sweet romance. It follows Odin, one of the princes of Laandia, and Lady Camille of Saint Pierre. 10 years ago they had a magical night together that ended up in Camille falling for the prince and him not answering her letters. Now, they are both about to announce their marriage, an arranged pact between both parties. Will any lingering feelings resurface? Will they be able to move past what happened in the past?
As I expected, the details about the engagement and how it came to be are not without flaws, but I assume when you pick up a book with this premise, you do not care as much about that and you just want the couple-to-be to get together. Similarly to that, some details are brushed over when those situations are dealt with or certain issues appear.
The biggest strenght about this book is that it is a fun, cute and quick read. I am a slow reader, yet I finished this in 2 days and I might have done it in less had I not been working. That is to say, it is very fast-paced, the lenght of chapters also contributes to that, since they are quite short and you move to the next one without realizing.
Apart from chapters being short, I also appreciate that we switch points of view, following both Camille and Odin, which is great since you get both perspectives, but it is not repetitive and done quite well, moving from one to the other and not seeing the same things from a different perspective, very useful when characters are not together but also when you want to know their thoughts about a certain scene.
I liked to see Camille build her friendships and getting out of her shell. Odin was a bit different from what I expected given what happened 10 years ago, and I wish they could have talked more about their situation (which is why I brought those issues above). Had we not seen what their history together was, I would have enjoyed their scenes and dynamic way more, because it was quite fun. I still enjoyed it, but a part of me couldn't help being bothered.
I kept wondering who the next book would be about, and I was left a bit confused nearing the book since we needed to resolve certain aspects, but the book clearly opens up for the next story, where we will continue as well to see Camille and Odin, and someone else.

Royal Rumble is the first book in Kerr's Love in Laandia series, which is a little bit of a spin-off from her Suitor Science series. This book features Prince Odin Maximillian Patrick Henri Erickson (quite the mouthful, right?) and Lady Camille Dusain. Odin (aka O) is the second born son of King Magnus of Laandia while Camille is the daughter of the prefect of Saint Pierre, Lord Arnaud Dusain.
With that said, it is quite clear that we have a royal setting, but while these royals have become accustomed to some aspects of this lifestyle, they are incredibly grounded and down to earth people making them highly relatable.
The premise of this story is that their respective fathers have organized an arranged marriage between the two. If you're looking for a spicy story, you won't find that here, but what you will find is a delightful and witty story about two stubborn people who have the opportunity to turn an arrangement into a love match if they can open their hearts up to possible pain. No risk, no reward.
I had a lot of fun reading this book although, as a Canadian, I have to ask the author... why did you kick Labrador out of the country? There are a plethora of intriguing characters who I hope will make additional appearances in the rest of the series. So many possibilities... :) I am looking forward to Gunnar's story in the next book, Royal Retelling, but I'm definitely hoping to read more about Kate and Jackson, Duncan and Tabitha, etc...
Here's a few of the fun lines I enjoyed:
"Saying it and going through with it are two different things."
"There are no bad decisions. Opportunities can come about after the most unlikely scenarios."
I chose this path and I will walk it.
He's got Thor-arms; they gave him the wrong Viking name.
"More Anna, less Elsa." It's okay to soften the edges. To open the door.
"Bosoms will not be hid like they are being punished."
With that said, it is quite clear that we have a royal setting, but while these royals have become accustomed to some aspects of this lifestyle, they are incredibly grounded and down to earth people making them highly relatable.

This is a very weird book. It seems to take place in an alternate universe where Newfoundland and Labrador ceceded from Canada (before Canada was even a country, I might add) and also monarchies are really popular near Canada? I would really love it if someone explained St Pierre and Laandia to me, but I guess that just wasn't important?
St Pierre is part of France, yet has an inherited position of prefect, yet they're not royalty or nobility, yet Camille is called Lady Camille, yet there is no mention of royalty in France 'cause you know guillotines, so literally nothing makes any sense at all. Odin's family is supposedly descended from Vikings but they don't even use patronym last names correctly? It's like the author did literally no research and then assumed that no one would have any questions.
There is essentially no plot other than Camille is mad, Odin is confused, and shopping. Also every shop in Laandia is an alliteration of name and type of shop; Arnold's Attire, Sera Sports, Helen's Hunt, etc. That is how a child names fake stores. Please. Make it make sense. Camille's mantra is also "be more Elsa than Anna", which again, is something you tell a child, not that a woman who is at least 27 thinks constantly. I mean, she would be at least 16 when Frozen came out, come on.
AND THE WORST THING. A FADE TO BLACK MAKEOUT. Yeah, you read that right. I have never, ever seen anything like that even in YA or middle grade books. What kind of a romance book is this?
Every single problem in this book could have been solved by two adults having a conversation. But no, everyone acts like a child and refuses to speak to each other so they can stew in miscommunication then wonders why everything is going wrong. USE YOUR WORDS.
For a romance book, there is nothng particularly romantic in this book. The world makes no sense, there's essentially no plot, and the characters are flat as cardboard.

2.5 stars rounded down. Because I wanted to love this book, but there are so many plot issues.
First of all, the reason for the prince needing to get married was a little lacking. He was embarrassed, but his family didn't seem to care enough to push an arranged marriage to fix it. It was all in his head.
Her reason was real, but then it never seemed like a real reason in the story. She needed a husband to be able to inherit the Prefect position, which means the marriage was primarily a political marriage for HER benefit, and the wedding should have taken place on her island since it was to secure her inheritance. They wouldn't have a choice on where to live afterwards, as she would be in her role as heir on the island. The 'royal duties' in his kingdom would take second place to her responsibility on her island.
Also, let's talk about the fact that Odin had NO idea she had political and inheritance reasons for the marriage (unrealistic, he would know her reasons for the marriage as much as his own) and was INSULTED and hurt that she also had practical reasons for the marriage? Did he actually think that her 6 broken engagements were for kicks and giggles? That she was jumping into an arranged marriage because she never got over him after he ghosted her after 10 years. That a silly girlish crush was her only reason for an arranged marriage? He is selfish, arrogant, childish, and does very little actual growth as a person in the book.
Let's not start with Camille's father and all the issues that were discussed, but he barely made an appearance; the way a controlling man determined that she would make this marriage happen would have.
Nothing about the circumstances surrounding the drama of the relationship makes sense, politically or otherwise.
I really wanted to like this book, but I'm not sure I'll give the rest of the series a chance, honestly.

“Marriages of convenience should be convenient. This is not.” I enjoyed this second chance romance, which involves the reader with the Royal family in a small fictional country. It was fun to suspend reality a bit and follow the arranged engagement of Prince Odin and Lady Camille. On the surface, this appears to be a strategic and political marriage agreement, born out of damage control and political necessity. “I’m the Band-Aid they’re sticking over the road rash of embarrassment, and that never works because, when you rip the bandage off, half the new skin comes off too.” The question is, how much more emotion is churning under the surface? Camille and Odin have a history. They both had a lot to sort through. “She’s got really high walls that I doubt I’d be able to scale, so I’m doing my best to break them down instead.” “Someone did this to her and I have a horrible suspicion that’s it might have been me.” Camille definitely struggled the most to trust and see the possibilities. “Since Camille has arrived, it’s been two steps forward with us and about a thousand back.” It was lovely to watch them grapple with the growth (reemergence?) of their feelings for each other as they spent time together. “‘The two of you could be perfectly happy together if you let yourselves.’” I liked both the main characters and the side characters were especially fun. (I look forward to seeing more of each of the brothers, Kate, and Jackson. Plus Lyra, of course.) There are some nice sweet moments and some funny ones as well. This is a closed-door story with some innuendo and a small amount of mild harsh language.

I started reading this book because it popped up on NetGalley, I was curious about the cover and the synopsis. I didn't know the author @hollykerr.author but it's always a good time to discover new authors.

This book pushed me out of my comfort zone. I mean, as a cliché (and as a reality), second chances are not my thing. But this book has changed my mind. The character of Lady Camille as the main character, is the best thing about the book. At first when I read the first part of the story of how they met, I almost cried because of how beautiful and furtive it all was.

This book brings a new vision, which is not seen so much in the Royals stories. A King who was in a heavy metal band?Also the incorporation of social networking into the royals in a very "natural" way.He even managed to include a reality show in the plot, this book has everything I like.
"Royal Rumble" is the beginning of a saga, I can't wait to see what happens in the next book (it's not officially out yet, it's published on February 6th). I hope to know more about Prince Gunners and Lyra in the second book.
