As a half-breed vampire, Ella Grey’s life sucks. She does her best to pass the time killing demons and secretly admiring her Shadow Hunter partner, Micah. He’s hot, dangerous and knows it. He’d be just Ella’s type if he weren’t likely to kill her the moment she put a toe out of line.

A chance encounter with a succubus changes everything. From the second the succubus’s spell washes over them, Ella and Micah are helpless to keep their hands off one another. The sex, when it’s not leaving them on the verge of death, is earth shattering and for the first time in ages Ella is connected with someone on a level she’d feared lost forever. But a dangerous prophecy has been set into motion, and if Ella’s not careful it’ll pull her straight from Micah’s arms and into the deepest bowels of the underworld.

4 HOT/Burning Stars!!!

Dark Cravings is one of the hottest books I have ever read. But it is also so much more than just steamy scenes and a delicious alpha male…the story is very interesting and different.

“The Vampire Queen and the Demon Son…”

Ella is a half-breed vampire. She wasn’t born like this. Ella was turned by the ex-lover, Julian, without her permission. So because of that the last few years of her life were full with struggles. As her ex turned her, he is now her ‘sire’ and they are (sort of) bonded- he can access her thoughts and (sometimes) control her emotions. But Ella is stronger and manages to keep Julian at a save distance. She absolutely hates him. Another person she is constantly being irritated by is her partner- Micah. But with him…it is a little bit different. ;)

They both work for the Shadow Agency and are both ‘hunters’. One night they encounter a female demon and she puts a spell on them. Then everything changes. Lies, secrets, a prophesy…Micah and Ella’s lives will never be the same.

“Love is a precious gift if given to the right person.”

What I liked:

The plot!!! This story is really interesting! I just couldn’t put it down…I needed to know more and more. The main reason why it is so good is because of the characters. Micah and Ella are simply awesome. I had so much fun reading their story. As I mentioned in the beginning, this is one of the hottest books I have ever read so it goes without saying that the chemistry between them is unbelievable.

description

Despite the fact Ella and Micah are great; there was no depth to their characters. I needed a bit more information about them. After finishing the book I still felt like I don’t know Ella at all. Furthermore, I couldn’t get into the story in the beginning. It starts really slow but after few chapters it picks up and I started to really like it. I am mentioning this so you can be prepared: If you decide to read this book just be patient…it will become really good after the first few chapters.

Ella and Micah are demon/vampire hunters. They have to work & train together. Ella is convinced that Micah is out to get her kicked out of the agency they work for. Micah thinks Ella is dangerous. Both are all ways picking at each other and fighting. The tension between them is intense. Ella is a half vampire, Micah thinks he is all human. Their world changes when they run across a demon and a little lust spell. They both wake up in a motel they don't remember getting to. Covered in blood and other fluids, after 4 days of continuous sex and not remembering any of it, they both are a little freaked out. They also notice that they have tattoo's....matching tattoo's. When Eli, Micah's brother shows up and opens the door, Ella knows that something drastic has changed. She is a full vampire and Micah may not be totally human. So the book is all about Micah finding out who he truly is, Ella finding out how and why she is a full vampire and why they now can't stop having sex or just being near one another.

This was a great roller coaster of a book. They start with the 2 main characters fighting and arguing continuously. You can feel the sexual attraction while they are fighting. The demon they encounter just wakes them up to the attraction that was already there. The sex scenes were great and if they weren't having mind blowing sex they were kicking ass and taking names against other vamps, were's , and demons. As their love starts to grow and they figure out some of the things going on in their world, they know what ever is out there, they can beat it together. This a wonderful action paranormal love story....stress on the action both on and off the bed.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

***UPDATE 3/31/14*****
I wrote my original review first thing after reading the book. I feel like I should update this review because I could NOT stop thinking about this book all day and all night after I wrote my review. I could still "smell" the blood, I could still "feel" Micah's touch. I just couldn't stop feeling/thinking about this book. This very rarely happens to me. Yes, I have read lots of books and loved them and even had book hangovers but for some reason this book just DID something to me. It was my first book by Madeline Pryce and it will not be my last. I can't wait to read the rest of this series and any and all other books by Madeline.

Half vampire/half human, demons, and hot steamy sex, how could you not love this book!!! From the first chapter you could tell that Ella and Micah had the chemistry and man did it only get more intense after that! I love the love/hate relationship that they have and it just works for them.

Characters: Ella and Micah’s chemistry was apparent from the start and I felt like I was right there in the book with them!

Sex: Holy hotness the sex was so good in this book

Religious: NO

Would I recommend to others: HELL YES!!

More than one book in the series: yes

Genre: Paranormal/Erotic/Romance

Would I read more by this author: No doubt about it...yes

Blood Lust Rising is one of the best novels that I have read in a while. Fayth Devlin has created an amazing story of vampires, demons, lust, jealousy, sex, nail biting suspense, humor, and did I mention sex? I could not put this book down and I loved every minute of it. I want more of this story. It was excellent

My Thoughts

First off, I have to say this novel just flat out did it for me! From the very start, the chemistry between Ella and Micah jumps off the page. There is an intensity and completely impassioned feel to this novel. A great love story and a solid engaging plot, this is a novel that a Paranormal Romance fan will not want to miss out on.

About the story…
________________________________________
For 500 years, the Shadow Agency has been protecting humanity from vampires and demons. Ella and Micah are both Shadow Hunters sworn to uphold and protect. One problem…Ella is now a half-vampire. Her ex-lover is a vampire and he tried to turn her when she was gravely injured. However, the attempt wasn’t successful and Ella ended up somewhere in between. She has a vampire’s fangs and lust for blood, however she refuses to give into the temptation. She promised the Shadow Agency she never would otherwise they would kill her outright. Micah is Ella’s hunting partner sent to watch and report back to the head of the Agency (his father) on whether Ella is a threat.

There is a demon prophecy that foretells of a Vampire Queen and Demon Son who will cause mayhem and destruction on the world that will lead to total destruction. During one of Ella and Micah’s hunts, the intensity of their lust attracted the attention of a succubus demon. The succubus believed Ella and Micah to be the prophesied Vampire Queen and Demon Son and enchanted them to fulfill a demon mating ritual.

To avoid any spoilers, I must stop there. This first novel in the trilogy introduces the story world and unfolds a sequence of events that lead to a resolution. However, there’s still a lot of story left to tell. I am really looking forward to where the author is going to take us in this trilogy.

About the Characters…
________________________________________
Fayth Devlin is a genius when it comes to character development. I became invested in the heroine and hero of this story within the first few pages and found myself really caring for Ella and Micah and fretting through their moments of conflict.

Ella is a compelling and realistic character. While fearless as a hunter, she also showed very feminine qualities. This short sentence from the novel completely endeared me to Ella and had me laughing out loud because I can totally relate…

“Left alone in a man’s apartment, when he didn’t want me here in the first place, what was a girl to do? I snooped.”

Ever under the watchful and suspicious eye of the Agency’s leader, Ella consistently showed her dedication. Our heroine goes through a lot in this novel and it’s obvious that the author has taken the time to consider how a person would react in certain situations. Ella’s reactions are realistic. She shows bravery when needed yet cried when things became too much. One of my pet peeves in novels is when the heroine never cries. It’s ok to cry, as it’s a true to life reaction.

Micah’s character is developed with the same finesse showing many sides to his personality. Initially, the author portrays him as a player and rather arrogant. This quote is Ella describing his reaction to her lapse when smelling fresh blood…

“A gentleman would have overlooked my bloodlust, would have looked away and let me compose myself without snide remarks about fangs and cages. Not Micah. He loved two things: himself and throwing my flaws in my face. I’m not sure which was number one on his list.”

Micah is totally alpha male but then we see his caring side. Devastated at the thought he had hurt Ella during their 4 day ‘tryst’, he was in agony. He tried to stay away from her thinking to protect her, even though their being apart made him ill and there was a possibility he would die.

On their relationship:
From page 1, the chemistry between Ella and Micah jumps off the page. It’s intense, uncontrollable and completely impassioned. The sex scenes are explicit in this novel – very titillating and very well written.

“Micah was too close for me to sense anything other than him. The way my body reacted to his was unsettling. The man didn’t occupy space; he claimed it. The heat from his too-hot body lined my back and set my nerves on an edge in a way that was both unnatural and wholly unwanted…I needed to step forward and put some distance between us. Thinking became impossible when Micah’s hot breath fanned across the back of my neck. My bloodlust was shoved aside with ruthless abandon. All that remained was an overwhelming surge of sexual lust…My galloping heart chased away my self-control. When my hands began to tremble, I shoved them into the front pockets of my tight leather jacket and hugged the lapels around me as if it would protect me. Micah took one more step. My body hummed with the restraint it took not to turn around and nuzzle his throat. The closer he got, the more erratic his thunderous heartbeat became. The rushing sound of blood was gasoline on a fire that was rapidly surging out of control.”

That blurb is from Chapter 1. Just saying. The rest of the novel is just as amazing!

Other Characters:
Most authors focus on developing the main characters so thoroughly, the supporting characters are sometimes neglected. Not Fayth Devlin. The other characters are expertly introduced and developed. Ella’s uncle Roy and sister Hannah, Micah’s father Richard and brother Eli, Julian (Ella’s sire), Lizbeth (villain) to name a few are very memorable and compelling.

Bottom Line
________________________________________
This is a novel that a lover of steamy Paranormal Romance will not want to miss out on! The author shows her expertise at creating multi-faceted characters (both main and supporting), and integrating them into an exciting storyworld and plot. This is a great introduction to the trilogy and I highly recommend you add this one to the top of your To Be Read list!

Ella Gray
Micah MacGregor

This is a revised review of Dark Cravings, formerly published as Blood Lust Rising. (1.13.14)

Having had the opportunity to revisit this story for this review, two things struck me:

1. This is an exciting ride. It's like being dropped into the middle of a class 5 white water rafting trip. It is fast with lots of twists and turns. Yet, unlike other books, I did not feel lost, but rather connected to the characters.

2. The new additions address my original critiques. Madeline Price expands the early chapters of the book to include a flashback that connects two important points in the story. It helps us visualize the extent of the connection between Ella and Micah following the encounter with the succubus. She also flushes out the ending and it is satisfying. There are deeper connections between characters making the conflicts and concerns more agonizing.

IN A NUTSHELL:
I again heartily recommend this book. It is a fun, fast and furious read.

This book hit me like a Mac Truck and then I just hitched onto the back bumper and went along for the thrilling ride. From the moment it starts with a lust curse cast by a demon, Ella Gray and Micah MacGregor are never be the same. They are inextricably linked together as lifemates and literally need each other to survive. They are confronted by their overwhelming sexual need, a vengeful Queen vampire, werewolves, and a jealous alpha sire.

This story hits all the right buttons:
1. The sexually encounters are passionate. (I’m pretty sure my Kindle had steam rising off of it.) . 2. The characters are memorable. Micah is an über alpha with a mysterious background who is both possessive and tender (the right formula for an alpha). Ella is a kick-ass heroine who follows in the footsteps of her family as a demon/vampire/shapeshifter/ Shadow Hunter. She struggles with her own transformation. 3. The action is thrilling. There are a few blood-spilling, Buffy-like fight scenes

My only critique is that I am left wanting more, which is not always a bad way to end a book. But in this case, I want more descriptions about Ella. I don’t have a clear picture in my head of what she looks like. And what kind of life was Micah living away from his duties as a Shadow Hunter? We only get a small glimpses into their history. Also, perhaps knowing a little more about the background histories of the characters (Uncle Roy, Eli, Castro) would add an additional layer of understanding to their motivations. Or, alternatively, this can be covered in the next installment -- of which I am impatiently awaiting!

I read this book when it was Blood Lust Rising. I have reread the new and improved Dark Cravings and I must tell you, I could not put it down. That is, until the battery in my Kindle died.

~~~
Hot cover and very appropriate title.
Dark Cravings is Ella’s story. The detail and depth of Madeline Pryce’s descriptions is amazing. It is easy to visualize the battles, Ella and Micah’s attraction to each other, the characters that surround them and the world they inhabit.
Ella Gray – I am neither human nor vampire, the thing I was raised to kill. Some consider me a demon, an undesirable, an abomination. I am a hunter and I love every minute of it. I work for the Shadow Agency My mission is to protect humans from rogue vampires and keep our existence a secret.
The vampire world has its own set of rules and regulations with appropriate penalties for those that run afoul of the Shadow Agency.
Micah is the son of the agency’s leader. Ella and Micah had an attraction they fought, but could never put aside. I thought they were already fated to be together before the succubus came into their lives.
By her and Micah being together, Ella had changed. They had changed. The gates of Hell were opened, spawning demons, and the earth protested with hurricanes and tornadoes. Who knew what else would be affected by their lust and desire.
Their journey through their destinies are treacherous. Betrayal follows them everywhere they go. The gruesome, graphic horror is peppered with humor and laughter.
Madelyne describes Ella getting dressed to go to the club and I couldn’t help but laugh at her thoughts about the choice of clothing Hannah, her sister, had chosen for her.
Either the top was too small or my tits had gone from a B cup to a C. Jesus, if I bent over, my nipples might pop out.
I was so involved with the story, the hours passed as if they were minutes. I felt a huge letdown when I reached the last page, wanting the story to continue. And it will. So, you will want to follow Madeline Pryce to see what she has in store for Ella, Micah and the cast of characters you will either love or hate in Dark Cravings.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

QUOTES

“The Vampire Queen and yes…the Demon Son. Destruction and Mayhem.”

“God, you’re a bitch. The way he said it, I heard goddess.”

“I crossed my arms under my breasts, which is a mistake, because they almost fell out.”

“When the hell did you get so possessive? Why don’t you just pee on me and get it over with.”

“Nothing says heartless like matching coffee mugs that read, ‘Stand back. I’ve got fleas and ‘Demons do it better’.”

The first book of Fayth Devlin’s new Vampire Queen Trilogy „Blood Lust Rising” kicks of with a blast! This new Paranormal Romance book with a kick has everything you are looking for in your new read for on your TBR-List. Blood Lust Rising is hot, fast-paced, enticing, intense but also fun and full of vampire and demon action! From the very beginning Fayth pulls you in this fantastic world from the first chapter and doesn't let you down until the last.

Blood Lust Rising has a solid plot and good world-building, a good romance story line and realistic characters. I really fell in love the the characters of this book. I specially liked Ella the Kick-ass/pain in the ass heroine and I totally believed in the relationship between Elle and Micah. The story is constant on the move there's a lot going on, from people trying to kill Ella, a lot of HOT romantic love scenes with Micah, to the return of her sire Julian.

The only thing I didn't get... is what made Elle a living vampire, instead of regular one? I understood why the Queen was that way, but unlike her, Elle wasn't born a vamp, so why is she special? At first I thought it was because she didn't drink blood, but even once she does, her heart still beats. So, that bothered me a little.

The only disappointment was the fight between Ella and the main bad-villain of this book, I would have liked to read a little more about how they kick each other’s ass!

Overall I really enjoyed Blood Lust Rising.There is a big tease for the second part of the trilogy, but that’s not written as a cliff-hanger! The main story line is solved and ended with a satisfying end. I'm looking forward where Fayth will bring us in the second book of this fantastic Trilogy. This is really a new addiction. I know i will be craving for more!

First, this book I found out was once published under the title Blood Lust Rising by Fayth Devlin but it was edited and expanded when picked up by Ellora's Cave Publishing.

Over all, I really loved this book. The ending was a bit off I do give that credence to its imperfection but the ride there was well worth it. From the first page, you meet a strong female lead and Micah is every bit hot and tempting on page.

This book has a permanent place in my top five all time hottest books made. It is neck in neck with "Beyond Pain" by Kit Rocha for number one. Forget fifty shades girls these guys are worth the fight and the women who have their hearts are no laughing joke for those weeping sulking chicks.

Don't take my review, just sample the first chapter and you'll be hooked.

One thing else though. Second book didn't quit mesh with me on this one. It is a three part series. I think that this one book alone should be enough to stand on its own. I just think that this book was too good that the second had too much to live up to. We'll have to see how the third one does. At any rate, I will still keep this title close to the night stand.

This book was suggested by Amazon & I downloaded the sample without noticing the price. Needless to say I enjoyed the Kindle sample & used the buy now option. I was 70% in prior to noticing the $8 I spent on an ebook from a "new to me author". UGH! I was not happy. *sigh Whatever, I blame my "buy now" trigger finger. Luckily, the story was a sufficiently complex one that managed to surprise me with unexpected twist. The pace was a quick one full of subterfuge, sex, violence, & angst. The characters are sufficiently developed & well thought out. I rate this 5 stars.

Overall, not bad. The plot was a bit stupid, but the characters were interesting to read about. The romance was super hot, but the idea of soul mates was pretty cheesy. The action and the plot twists were captivating, but I had problems with that ending involving Julian. There were ups and downs, but in the end, it's a book I would recommend to those wanting a steamy, relatively angst free NA/A PNR.

Dark Cravings is an action packed, suspenseful thriller filled with lots of sexy moments, humour and romance and on the edge of your seat moments. Demons, Vampires, Werewolves and a world filled with the paranormal!!

I really enjoyed the action packed scenes in this book. Ella and Micah were a force to be reckoned with. Both hunters have secrets and a past that comes to face them. Jealously, lies and rivalry - Micah and Ella are thrown into a calling they never knew they had.

This Debut book is definitely a must read, for all those whom enjoy a vampire story with wonderfully crafted characters and unpredictable twists and turns then this will certainly not disappoint. Dark Cravings will leave you wanting book two - to see which direction Ella and Micha's calling goes.

The chemistry between Micah and Ella is smouldering, hot and wafts off the pages, the sex is damm spine tingling , toe curling and definitely smoking!

For all those who love a bit of heat in there reads, then Dark Cravings is for you! Micah was sexy as sin – tough , brave and kick arse and Ella no young lady, she knew how to stand her ground and I like nothing more than to read a story, with a kick arse heroine who is not afraid to get her hands dirty or nailed chipped. She is certainly all of the above. A strong willed character with depth and definition. I loved her characters.

Micha - well he can be my Demon spunk anyday - I FXXXKEN Loved him haha.. I would have his Demon babies any day ;) grins !

The secondary characters I really enjoyed, a smokin hot demon – a shifter and many a scene that will certainly have you on the edge of your seat.

I enjoyed all the characters that Madeline has put forth, intermingled with an engrossing storyline that will keep your interest piqued throughout and UNtil the very end ! UNPUTDOWNABLE!

I have now read this book when it was Blood Lust Rising and now the updated version of Dark Cravings and loved it even more. !!! Hence my rating change now reflects my added pleasure ! I found the chemistry between Micah and Ella was certainly saucier - and the ending will certainly keep any reader happy.

Dark Cravings is Filled with riveting scenes, smoking demons - and passionate filled sex scenes, as well a well-blended story with all the right ingredients. A must read for all the lovers of hot under the collar moments and the world of the paranormal.

Portals, other worlds, - Find yourself engrossed in The world of Madeline Pryce's world filled with a paranormal buffet !

I have read many vampire/demon romance novels over the years, but the author has a completely unique take on the subject and has written an intriguing story that kept me turning the pages into the small hours!

Ella Grey is a half breed vampire (still half human i.e. has a heartbeat). She is a hunter with the Shadow Agency, a sort of police force that hunts and kills demons. She is a fantastic character. She is feisty, loves a good fight and is secretly crushing on her partner.

Micah McGregor is the son of the Shadow Agency's boss. He is extremely charismatic, and has his own secrets. I could easily see him walking around, going after demons.

Madeline Pryce has written a clever, fast paced novel, which takes you on a roller coaster ride! The characters seemingly jump off the page (or is it you get sucked in? (no pun intended!)). The action is intense, and so is the bedroom action! There are some hot and heavy scenes here, so be prepared!

I do not recommend this book for younger readers due to the explicit nature of some of the scenes. There is also a lot of profanity, so if you are easily shocked or offended, I do not recommend this book. However, if you are looking for a fantastic, steamy paranormal romance, this book is for you. I am now looking forward to reading the next book in the trilogy - the teaser at the end of the book certainly got me hooked!

In total disclosure I received this book for free from the author, but you can bet your bottom dollar I will be buying the next installment. It's just that good.

Now what best encapsulates what this story is about is this:
"I, Ella Grey, Shadow Hunter, was now the thing I’d been raised to kill."

Fayth Devlin (2012-05-01T13:15:36+00:00). Blood Lust Rising (Kindle Location 133). Kindle Edition.

And that thing is vampires. The sassy, wise-cracking Ella is faced with not only her past but what her future entails. Made worse by a demon who wove a spell over herself and her bodyguard/leash Micah. There's a Soul Mate trope. A We Hate Each Other trope. There's an ex-boyfriend in the wings. A secret society of sorts out that's a watchdog over all things that go bump in the night.

Did I mention the hot, hot sex? No. So, let me be clear, the sex is hot.

And, thankfully, finally in a series there's no question on the last page who she'll end up with. And it's the person you want her to end up with.

If you wanted a kick ass heroine like Mac, but a less douchey Barrons who was still hot, this is the book for you. I loved it and can't wait for the next installment. Devlin is an author to watch.

This book was humorous for a lot of reasons. Ella is a snarky, pain in the ass heroine who has been turned into a Living Vampire and then been abandoned by said sire Julian. Her uncle Roy is a supernatural hunter and takes Ella and her sister, Hannah, in, Ella becomes a hunter for the Shadow Agency. The Shadow Agency is keeping secrets and their secrets could be what brings the whole of the human race down. Micah is Ella hunter partner. Her hunter partner that she can't stand. They fight constantly about everything. One day they go out hunting together and run into a succubus who puts a lust sleep on them and they wake up mated for life. Now they are thrown into a world of demon and vampire politics that almost kill them and their families. Micah brother Eli is awesome as is the demon Castro and the shape-shifter Dante.

You can't help but fall in love the the characters of this book. They all have quirks that make you laugh. I'd have to say that the only disappointment was the fight with the main bad guy of this book. It was much too quick for how powerful she was. This was a fast, easy, and fun read. It was quirky and made me laugh. The characters were to die for some were shallow and unchanging but still intriguing all the same. For the most part a great read.

So far I am totally loving this book. I won it on the the fifth stop of the books blog tour. Madeline Price is doing a wonderful blog tour with interesting cocktails, excerpts from her books, and introductions to some of the characters. I put this to the front of my tbr pile because of the blog tour and it just sounded so good.

Finished. Boy that was a fast read. Awesome! This book totally blew me away. Ella Grey a half/vampire and Micah MacGregor her Shadow hunter partner are hit with a lust spell by a Succubus. These two previously hostile partners spend the next four days having hot, hot sex. The only problem is this pesky little prophecy about the two of them getting together causing the distruction of all. Ella is beautiful, tough, yet loyal. And Micah is hot, shoulders to die for, mysterious, and just as loyal. The supporting characters are just as loveable, except maybe the bad guys, Micah and Eli's dad, and the vampire Queen to name a few. This is a definate must read. Dark Innocence is about Dante,(a shapeshifer), and Hannah, (Ella's human sister). They are introduced to us in Dark Cravings. Enough to like them and want to hear their story. I can't wait till the end of January when Dark Innocence comes out.

Enjoyed this paranormal romance. Though not a tremendous amount seems to happen in the book, it's just enough to keep both the pace moving quickly, and to make the story play a larger role than the sex. I thought the sex scenes were hot and the characters likable, world building not entirely developed so far, but what we've seen of it is interesting. I also appreciated that it doesn't appear the author is going to use a love triangle to drive false conflict, but makes it clear who the romantic interest is. I'll definitely read book 2 in this trilogy, and recommend this book to fans of paranormal romance (especially at the $2.99 price point)

This book honestly blew me away. The emotion, the story, the hotness, too. I am not that fond of the first person prospective in a book, yet it works so well here and Fayth is just so darn good at it. I was sucked in and could not put the dang thing down. I ate it up in a matter of hours. I need book #2 now! I can't WAIT to read it. :)

I loved this book! It had some of my favorite things.....vampires, demons, shifters and vile villains. A totally kick ass snarky heroine complete with brimstone knives and a hot hard headed hero to spar with. There's action, uber hot sex, and touching emotional moments. Can I get a "What-what" for lion shifter Dante?

I reviewed this story when it was titled Blood Lust Rising. Since then it has received a new title and cover art, the author has a new pen name, Madeline Pryce, and she’s added a whole bunch more to this story.

I mentioned in my review how the sex was so steamy it fogged up my Kindle! Well it did it again and yes, my Kindle survived round two! LOL

The characters are a bit older which makes it more appropriate as the sex is even steamier, more erotic. Don’t let that fool you though. There’s one hell of a lot of action and danger, much more to this than just romance.

The ending is different too but I can’t talk about it as it’ll spoil things and I don’t think you’d appreciate that much.

Here are my previous review comments:

Okay. This Review will be longer.

Blood Lust Rising has been nominated for Best 1st Chapter and Best Cover.

This is one of the best first chapters I have read. I am not one to blush easily, but my whole face was rosy before I finished it.

You don’t have to kneel down and peek through the keyhole because Fayth Devlin leaves the bedroom door (or any door) wide open. The intimate, arousing sexual scenes fogged up my Kindle screen, they were that HOT!

About the story

They don’t get along at all. Micah and Ella are partners, working for the Shadow Agency. Their job, hunt vampires and demons.

A late night chase after a succubus through the cemetery does not go as planned. The Demon hits them with a spell that changes everything.

They awaken in a hotel 4 days later with no memory of how they got there. Both are exhausted and dehydrated, weak from a marathon of sex. Separating them is out of the question. The demon’s spell has awakened a yearning that can’t be ignored, an intense sexual need that was already there, just beneath the surface.

As their sexual desire deepens into something more, they join together, battling vamps, weres and numerous types of demons, while delving into Micah’s mysterious origins and fending off the unwanted and lethal attention of Julian, Ella’s sire.

What I felt

I feel a strong physical and emotional connection to Micah and Ella. I want them to be safe and I want a happy ending for them.

Characters

Ella starts out as a self-contained, don’t need anybody, kick-butt slayer. Fayth is able to show me Ella’s transformation, making me see all sides of her character, including her flaws. Ella is still tough as nails, but her fierce loyalty to family and friends, and her deepening love for Micah make her very real to me.

And Micah. I was already attracted to his oozing sexuality and sarcastic personality. As I read more, I was able to see his tender side, his love for family and his passion for and commitment to Ella.

Scenes to share – I want you to feel what I felt.

The green glow emanating from Micah’s eyes lit the night. Micah threw himself at Julian. The two men collided and rolled in the mud, a tangle of blood-smeared fists. They were both wearing black and, the more they coated themselves in mud, the harder it was to tell them apart.

Micah pulled his fist back, drove it into Julian’s face again and again. Crack. Crack. Crack. Julian threw Micah to the side, straddled his body. Blow after blow, they rolled and cursed, jockeyed for position. They pounded the holy living hell out of each other.

A body melting scene – Micah to Ella

“If you go upstairs with me. I’m not going to be able to stop from touching you, from stripping you naked. You’re tired and hurt and I can’t promise to be gentle. The Darkness.” He drew in a breath and corrected himself. “The demon wants you tied to my bed, wants you screaming and so drunk with pleasure you won’t be able to walk away from us. You are ours. The man and the demon. We need to claim you.”

Thoughts

It had to have been really challenging for Fayth to put her characters into very dangerous and compromising situations and make the conclusions believable and satisfying. She has shown that she can and has what it takes.

Blood Lust Rising took me by surprise. My connection to the characters was deep. The story was flush with sexual tension, grueling fighting scenes and compelling dialogue. I found myself immediately engaged and immersed in the book without even trying.

Quotes I loved. You will understand it’s significance once you read the book.

Slaughter. Defend. Obliterate.

Murder. Guard. Destroy

Something Funny:

I had Vampire ED, on top of everything else!

Something tender:

Micah pulled back, gave Hannah a smile that melted solid objects.

Warning:If your kindle starts smoking while you are reading this book, don’t be alarmed. Mine still works fine!

There you have it. I swear my Kindle was overheating. Either that, or I was!

When you think a book can’t get any better, think again. Dark Cravings did!

5 STARS Again!

Fayth Devlin’s Blood Lust Rising is an explosive debut novel. It is sizzling hot. You can almost feel the slide of skin against skin; the scrape of fangs in places better not mentioned….this book defines sensual, raw and gritty. Fayth takes you on a fantasy ride of vampires, demons and shape shifters, all in a modern-day, believable setting. The plot was original and out of this world. The fights scenes would have you cringing and glad that you are only reading the action, not involved in it. Ella and Micah kick some major ass.

The characters came to life on the page. By the end of the first chapter I was already a little in love with Micah and Ella both. I would be hard pressed to say which one I liked better. The chemistry between the two of them was smoking; seriously tingle worthy.

“I wasn’t human, not anymore. But I wasn’t fully a vampire either.”
“I, Ella Grey, Shadow Hunter, was now the thing I’d been raised to kill.”

Ella is a feisty, living vampire. Her attitude endeared her to me from the very beginning. Ella was raised a Shadow Hunter, people who are sworn to protect the world from Otherworldly creatures. In her youth, she fell in love with a vampire, Julian. He ended up changing her into a half human-half vampire while trying to save her life. Ella has fangs but can go out in the sunlight and live without blood. She makes a vow to the Shadow Agency that she will not drink blood, even though she craves it. Ella is another one of those kick ass girls I love, but she is also feminine. She gets angry when she should, cries when it hurts or if it will make her feel better, and is fiercely loyal to those she loves.

Micah starts off as sarcastic; think I’m better than you, and oh so smug. Micah is a human, or so he thinks. He is a Shadow Hunter as well. Ella is intensely attracted to him but thinks that he would never really want her because she is a vampire. They fight a lot and the vibes they put off are sexual frustration. Micah comes out to be this fiercely loving, protective and possessive man who will make you swoon, or feel hot all over. =)

Ella, “One more word and I’ll bite you.”
Micah, “Try it and I’ll shove a stake through your heart.”

Julian is Ella’s sire. He is a 400 year-old vampire. He is sick, twisted and evil in a completely hot, bad boy way. He is one of those characters you love to hate. He wants Ella but Ella is bound to Micah and despises Julian. Ella and Julian have this twisted sire bond that causes all kinds of havoc.

Ella and Micah do not sound like star-crossed lovers but throw in a Succubus and mix it all around and you get beautiful chaos.

A four-day “retreat” that they barely remember. Blood soaked sheets and startling, bright blue eyes; changes that will rock the foundation of their very world.

A prophecy foretold their union. They are soul-mates that cannot be unbound. The Vampire Queen vows that Ella will be destroyed. Nothing, or nobody, will get in her way.

I do not want to say anymore because if I do it will be nothing but spoilers but I do want to mention her other characters. Fayth created not just a world for Micah and Ella, but for their family and friends. Her character development is very thorough. She put up a beautiful cast of people who you will fall in love with as well, and you can tell have their own story to tell in time. Hannah is Ella’s teenager sister and is beautiful but not a fighter. She is terrified of blood but a little spunky herself, or at least flirtatious. Eli is Micah’s teenage brother, a little geeky and a lot hot for Hannah, in a sweet, shy way. Ella’s Uncle Roy is a powerful man who would do anything for his nieces. Dante and Castro are otherworldly but become a big part of the story, on the friends’ side. There is also Micah’s father, a twisted man and the head of The Shadow Hunter Agency. He will give you the creepy-crawlies and not in a good way.

This book was action-packed suspense. It was romantic, steamy and at times it was laugh-out-loud hilarious. I would highly recommend reading this book. Blood Lust Rising is book 1 of the Vampire Queen Trilogy and I am eagerly anticipating the next installment. At only $2.99 on Amazon, this book is a steal.

I received an ARC copy for free, but that in no way impacted my review. I give honest reviews, good and bad. This book rocked and I would have gladly bought it =)

“You’ve found the other half of your soul”

Dark Cravings Madeline Pryce

Madeline Pryce is an author I wasn’t familiar with. I started seeing a lot of buzz on FB about her Dark Cravings book. So I started asking a few questions. Got some very positive feedback so I decided to check her out and purchased the two books in this series. I’m glad I did. There is so much action and story in this read it’s really hard to put down. I found no happy stopping point so I read the entire read in one afternoon.
Dark Cravings is a book anyone into paranormal will devour. As I started reading the first few chapters I immediately saw the character building with the two main characters. Ella Grey and Micah MacGregor. Both very Alpha. Ella Grey was at one time human (or was she) and fell for a Vampire Julian who happened to be working to assist the Shadow Agency in their quest to rid the world of rouge demons. As you read further into the story you find out why Julian was really there. Ella and Julian were lovers and when Ella was attacked and left for dead Julian couldn’t have that because he had fallen in love with her, and turned her to keep her alive. Then he just disappeared leaving Ella basically to fend for herself as she struggled through the transition. You need this back ground to understand the rest of the story. Not that I’m going to tell you.
Ella and Micah were Shadow hunters and partners. Both of these characters seemed to have a dark side and Micah, I just knew wasn’t what he appeared to be. When they were on a hunt one evening strange things started to happen. They encountered what they thought was a Succubus and put under her spell. Well the apparition was not a Succubus and when you find out who she was you will be as shocked as I was, and she didn’t put a spell on them but simply brought out their lust for each other. Ella and Micah were withholding their feelings and trying to ignore them, but they really had the hots for each other. In reality they were soulmates. And were they ever. Micah claimed her and for four days they were in sexual bliss. What can I say. But neither could explain what was happening. At this early stage of the mating they couldn’t be apart. Their families tried to keep them apart for their own good putting Ella and Micah in withdrawal almost killing Micah. You need to read the book.
Her cast of supporting characters were just delicious. You have Castro a Demon King and I think I fell in love with him. There is just something about his character that grabbed me. I also have some suspicions about his relationship with Micah. Then there is the big dangerous Lion Shifter Dante who you just want to melt into. Eli who is Micah’s brother and didn’t fall short on the hotness meter, Hannah who is Ella’s sister and is cursed with a photographic memory. At a very young age she found her mother than her father murdered. Roy who is Ella and Hannah’s Uncle and raised the girls after their parents died, the Vampire Queen Lizbeth who turns out to be Ella and Hannah’s Aunt and is a born Vampire not created. She is a one of a kind with a beating heart (or is she). Then last but not least you have Richard MacGregor the leader/commander of The Shadow Agency and Micah’s and Eli’s father a real POS. I hope he gets put down. The read is full of action, heart stopping moments, twists that will floor you, a heartfelt confession from Micah to Ella, hot claiming/marking sex, an unbelievable turn of event for Eli, did I mention hot claiming/marking sex. My mind is spinning is every direction trying to figure out where Dark Innocent is going to go. Will it be Hannah and Eli, or did we see some possessiveness with Dante and Hannah. Will the prophecy be filled ( I think it will ). But maybe not until Dark Secrets. I’ll know better after I read Dark Innocence maybe. This is a 5* read hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

I must recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of paranormal and/or romance. Luckily, I am a fan of both and this book hits all of the right spots. I believe this is or will be turned into a series based off the information on the authors Goodreads page.
In the book we meet Ella Grey; a flawed, but strong heroine. She is a hybrid vampire of a sort, only half turned and stuck in limbo between her humanity and the supernatural. Not to mention, the girl is hilarious to boot. Her inner struggles and whiplash tongue kept the story from verging into too dark territory. She is dealing with being newly turned, an attraction to someone who hates her kind and her own self-hatred for what she has become. At the same time, she is outspoken, brave and honest.

Enter the most hated, yet sexiest man in Ella’s world. Micah McGregor. A gun-toting, Shadow Hunter with a mean attitude. “I’ll tell you this,” he said as his laughter faded. "The bulge in my pants wasn’t because I was happy to see you.” Micah is quick on his feet and even quicker with his comebacks. You cannot help but to love him, after you get done hating him for being mean to Ella for her new nature. He is demanding, aggressive and hardcore. The pair fight about everything under the sun. However, it isn’t the irritating back and forth we see in most novels. Their fighting is funny at times and hurtful at others. They are attracted to one another, refuse to see past their differences and admit it, but outside forces will make sure they come together.

There are a lot of erotic moments that will make a girl pant with lust. Or drool. I did both. The steamy sex scenes aren’t meant for the light-hearted. If you are looking for an old-school Harlequin…YOU WILL NOT FIND IT HERE! I cannot even copy and paste a scene as I don’t want to be responsible for erupting someone else’s computer screen with all the fiery, sexy times. Oh, let’s not forget Julian, her ex-lover turned sire who is persistent on keeping Ella as his. He is pretty hot and tempting too.

Throughout the book, we watch the pair navigate through their differences, their emotions for each other, their attraction and outside interferences. I cannot touch on anymore of the story for fear of giving away too much, but there is so much more involved than just sex and love. There are prophecies, interfering family and the Underworld to contend with. All while trying to break the curse of a succubus. Where one is flint, the other is steel, and together they are pure fire. So worth the money. And who doesn’t love a good vampire story? Yes, there are a lot of vampire books out there, but give this one a try. I promise you will not regret it.

I was so excited to get a copy of Dark Cravings for an honest review! Like any time you are given a copy to review you are nervous that this book may not push the right buttons, well let me say this book had all my buttons pushed and then some!!!

Let's just say I freaking love a snarky heroine with attitude and add that to an equally hot headed alpha you know things are going to get interesting. Ella was a hunter at heart. She had lost her parents at a young age and also was betrayed by her first and only love, Julian. Her innocence and life as she knew it changed when she had met the charming vampire, but an accident led to the unthinkable and out of his own selfishness Julian changed Ella to save her. He knew she would never wished to live like this, a half breed. Not fitting in her own society, struggling to keep her Sire (Julian) blocked from her thoughts and always having to watch herself because she had someone watching her at all times, Micah.

Micah is all man! His hard demeanor a façade to his own demons inside, but he has a job to do and that was to watch Ella. When you are spending so much time with a fine specimen like Ella, it's only natural to be turned on. But Micah's attraction for her comes off as cocky and arrogant. Oh but when he smiles I can only imagine myself getting weak in the knees. He can spar me any day!!

A normal night of hunting goes wrong when a Succubus happens to find herself drawn to Ella and Micah she pulls on their hidden desire of lust for each other. Breaks the bonds and allowing Ella and Micah to give in to their needs for one another. And give in they did!!! Over and over.

During their intense sexual haze they had formed a bond, marking the other as their mate. They didn't know what they had done at first, but there was one person who was not happy to see Ella marked by another. Julian had sired her and she was to be his. He had risked all her knew and went against the Queen, his sire, by changing her. He felt for her, something that wasn't thought possible and he knew it was only a matter of time when the perfect opportunity would present itself for him to kill Micah and take Ella back.

I freaking LOVED this book! The way Madeline wrote was amazing. She pulled you in during the fight scenes and definitely had your attention during the hot and steamy sex scenes!!! You could see, smell, and feel what the characters were experiencing. I also appreciated the horror aspect in this book, the angst. I get that romance books can be a little mushy but when your mate is willing to kill for you and they mean it, that is just a turn on in itself! There was no holding back and I appreciated that!
