Michelle Jerott was born on 17 January 1961 in Wisconsin, USA. Her very first romances she ever read, way back in high school, were Kathleen E. Woodiwiss's "The Flame and the Flower" and "The Wolf and the Dove" (published by Avon in the mid-70s). She said: "I fell in love with Heather and Brandon, Wulfgar and Aislinn--and have been hooked on romances ever since. I like nothing better than to curl up with a good book and a hot cup of coffee, and romances will always be my books of choice. Unlike some authors, I didn't come out of the womb wanting to write books. In fact, from about the age of 14, I wanted to be an archaeologist."
Michelle graduated with a classical Archaeology degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and even attended a summer program at University of London's Institute of Archaeology. She remembered: "My first dig, in high school, was a Mississippian Indian site not far from Terre Haute, Indiana, and my last was a Roman fort outside Newcastle in Great Britain. There, standing up to my knees in mud and swinging a pick ax, I decided that maybe archaeology wasn't my calling in life, after all. A career fast track was fine and dandy, but I wanted to take the scenic route through my own life instead. So, I had a baby and eventually went to work in a research lab, which allowed me time to write. When I sat down to write my first story, I had no doubt it would be a romance. As a kid, I was disappointed that girl oriented stories rarely had the same sort of fun, excitement or dangerous adventures as the boy oriented stories. Consequently, I re-wrote a lot of those books in my head. As I grew older, I discovered the books I liked to read (and write) were those in which the heroine has all sorts of fun and excitement... and yes, even adventures, dangerous or otherwise. On July 31, 1997, after three years of writing and shopping my manuscripts around, I sold my first book to Avon. A couple days later, I won the Romance Writers of America's Golden Heart Award for that same book, an award given to manuscripts written by unpublished writers. All in all, 1997 was an exciting year! Becoming a published writer has been a long-time goal, and I'm so excited to have this chance to make my dream come true. More importantly, I hope to share with you, through my characters and their stories, a little magic, a little fun, and a whole lot of romance!"

My first book by this author. Didn't realize it was second in a series. Enjoyed the bad ass heroine (who kickboxes, etc) private detective who was nursing an issue of being able to trust after being betrayed in previous relationship. Enjoyed figuring out the mystery of who the thief might be. The romance seemed to be a bit insta-love but I am OK with suspending critical thinking. A few things would jar me out of the story every now and then (ex: play by play sex scene with condoms...yay safe sex...but improper "after" usage; airport security measures vastly different from today's with non ticketed passengers allowed at the gate). Would I read more by this author? Maybe? Might have helped if had read the first in the series? There were secondary characters who could have been interesting and seemed like they might have backstory but we didn't learn much about them. Perhaps flushed out in book one?
Cute. This is light reading, nothing heavy (except for a couple of love scenes which are fairly graphic). It's an easy read, and while it will not find a home on my shelves to be re-read over and over, it was a perfectly fun way to pass a couple of cold January days. Certainly worth my time.
No sé lo que me pasa con este libro. Lo he leído un par de veces y nada más terminarlo, lo olvido. Y no es un olvido que en cuanto empiezas a leer lo recuerdas, no. Es que lo olvido por completo.
Michele Albert: There is just something about the way Michele Albert tells a story that works for me. She wrote an interesting, engaging, sexy and fun book.
Getting Her Man: 4.40 An intriguing story of a private investigator hired to find a stolen precious artifact by gallery owner, Steven Carmichael. The intrigue is not so much about who the thief is, but about how Diana is going to figure out why Jack stole the piece from his benefactor.
Dr. Jack Austin: 5.0 A professor of archeology at Tulane. Although not Cajun born and bred, he possesses that magic charisma and enjoyment of life that seems to be an integral part of a Louisiana boy's make up. Jack's intelligence and quick-wit are featured in this book and we cannot help but enjoy his blatant good looks and beautiful body as we stare at him through Diana's lust-ridden eyes.
Diana Belmaine: 3.0 A private investigator who specialized in stolen antiquities. A bold, brassy, smart, gorgeous, intelligent, determined, sharp-dressing heroine. Her strong will is humanized because it is soon obvious that she is trying to re-establish herself as a competent investigator in a specialized field after having lived through the scandal of having been used by an antiquities thief two years ago.
Action: 3.0 There was not a lot of exciting adventurous action, but more of the procedures of Diana's day-to-day investigational activities.
Emotion: 4.0 It was easy to connect with both Jack and Diana because Albert detailed their pasts during their many confrontations as they tried to 'one up' the other as they made their way through the book. Albert's talent shines because she was able to bring forth peals of laughter with her well-written dialogue.
Romance: 4.75 There is a constant stream of sexual tension and awareness between Jack and Diana as they constantly fight the losing battle of strong mutual attraction.
Intrigue: 3.0 The question that ran throughout the entire book was: How were Diana and Jack going to outwit Steven Carmichael so Jack wouldn't have to go to prison for art theft and they could have their happily ever after.
Sensuous: 3.5 The love scenes are filled with spice, sizzle and heat.
Supporting Characters: 4.0 Interesting, intriguing, well-developed supporting characters added a rich flavor to the story -- and promoted an interest in reading the future books of the series.

light and fluffy definately what I was looking for

well
nearly normal...
:P
She is a Private Investigator He is an archeologist and thief - but he is like Robin Hood
I would just like to say that no-one I have ever met is as articulate as these characters Diana and Jack - Both hurt in the past , bth with major trust issues and they sit down and have a deep and meaningful conversation????!! I know when I am upset - my brain scrambles any thoughts I have and I just end up in tears... I would love to be able to know how to recognise why people act the way they do and be able to extrapolate that into reasons for that behaviour
Private Investigator Diana Belmaine was burned in NY when her lover systematically used her PI records to steal from her clients - antiquities mostly. Now relocated to New Orleans, she's rebuilding her reputation when asked to find a small Egyptian artifact stolen from the art gallery of billionaire Steve Carmichael. Steve has been funding golden boy archaeologist Jack Austin, Professor at Tulane Univ. Jack found the famous city Tikukiel and has been uncovering it for several years. He's also discovered that Steve has been stealing from the site and reselling stuff. He starts stealing it back and getting it into museums where it belongs. Diana figures out real quickly Jack is the thief. What she doesn't know is why. Meanwhile, the attraction between the two is hot, but ware - she doesn't want to get burned again. He doesn't want her involved. Eventually they corner Steve and stop the theft, fall in love, and work out all the details.
Private Investigator Diana Belmaine is searching for a thief. A priceless piece of art has been stolen. The hunt leads her to Dr. Jack Austin, an archeology professor who is a pillar of the community...and also guilty as sin. Jack is used to living on the edge and is drawn to beautiful Diana who could expose his secret and ruin his reputation. He should keep his distance, but she is a risk he can't resist.
This story started off slow but I'm glad I stuck with it. I really liked Jack. This book had me wondering how the author was going to get him out of the mess he got himself into. Diana was an interesting heroine. She had been burned once before by a man who used her for illegal gains and she was going to make sure it didn't happen again. My rating: 4 Stars.
I think Michele Albert is a very skilled writer. Her background (which I won't give away, because it may spoil the contents of the book) really helps her to tell a believable story here. The premise of the book is a basic cat and mouse type of stuff, but boy oh boy, the path taken is well worth it.
