No couple grabs attention quite like Mitch and Vanessa, two of America’s most enigmatic performers on the adult club circuit. And when they’re not winning some of the top prizes in the world, they’re engaging in a private romance that toes the line between sinful and unlawful.
The FBI knows this. Which is why one agent is willing to strike a deal.
If Mitch the “perfect submissive” and Vanessa the “mysterious Mistress” agree to go undercover in one of San Francisco’s most illicit clubs, their charges will disappear.
And as bright as fire…
Here comes Candace Lister, the owner of Club Night. Candace isn’t just a ruthless businesswoman – she’s also accused of being one of California’s most dangerous human traffickers.
And she’s jealous of Vanessa because she has one thing Candace doesn’t – Mitch, the most covetous chameleon on the circuit.
Candace will do anything to have her.
Burn, baby, burn…
Everything Vanessa and Mitch have built for themselves is on the line. And what was once therapy for their traumatized souls now becomes a matter of life and death as Mitch is tasked with seducing Candace into the FBI’s crosshairs.
But Candace is more dangerous than law enforcement. She’s the same as Vanessa… yet darker. And the couple knows it might only be a matter of time before danger creeps past their doorstep.
A brand-new fire named Mitch and Vanessa is about to catch in Club Night.
INTO THE NIGHT is a darker romance that involves a couple with unconventional tastes. It also includes serious subject matter such as trafficking, assault, and PTSD.
That was a fast ride. I almost got scared of how the whole Candace thing was going to be put in. I am glad of how it was written. Esp that final confrontation scene... EMOTIONS.
I have often criticised Dane/Billings, picking on the minutiae of their work, focusing on character flaws or story length. I have not always enjoyed the work these two have gifted the world, but I have always respected it, admired it and appreciated it.
But no book has ever reached into the depth of my soul and squeezed as tightly as Into the Night. The truth is, I can’t even express with words the level of discomfort I felt reading this. The content is dark, perhaps the darkest these two have ever written.
I’ve read Dane/Billings’ works entirely out of order - Vanessa and Mitch have made the odd appearance in other stories and I never paid them much attention. But I am so grateful that I now finally have. Vanessa is the Domme above all others. There is something about her character that speaks to me. I could happily read a story about Vanessa and her exploits before Mitch came into the picture, but that isn’t to say I don’t enjoy Mitch, because while butch subs aren’t my tea, Mitch is and will always be the perfect companion for Vanessa.
But it isn’t the characters that took me to new heights - I will say it is the character of Vanessa that kept me grounded - it is the content of this storyline. Human trafficking. A woman so vile, I don’t even want to writer her name. And I know that lesser writers could have exposed the darkest depths of that woman’s existence with far less style than Dane/Billings.
This was an exceptionally difficult read, especially the final act. But it was written so well that I almost regret any judgement I have ever dished this writing duo. This story will stay with me for the rest of my life.
And I sincerely hope there is a third story to be told with Vanessa and her Mitch, Mitch is so different in the sequel, I can’t wait to see what her future holds, provided Vanessa is right there with her.
I love that Mitch and Vanessa got a second book as they are one of my favorite couples. Book 2 doesn't disappoint. We learn more about how far the couple have come since their introduction while continuing to see them grow as individuals and a couple. The writing kept me engaged as I devoured the book (that was a late night) having to know what happens for the couple. It takes you through all the emotions and I loved every minute of the journey.
In this one, the pair find themselves backed into a corner having to perform for reasons other than their pleasure. Going inside Candace Lister's private BDSM club may seem like it should be the perfect fit for the couple but the darkness that lurks may be too much for them to handle. Vanessa and Mitch have come so far since the beginning and their love and devotion to each other is palpable to everyone around them. How will they handle a covetous billionaire with a pearl white veneer covering a dark soul? Vanessa's insecurities and Mitch's submissive drive may be their undoing as they move into this new circle of people. Candace Lister is seemingly everything Mitch would want in a Domme if she hadn't found Vanessa first. The pull and curiosity may be too much to keep Mitch's head on straight as Michelle while searching for the secrets within Club Night through the attention of it's mysterious owner.
It's getting hot. It's getting dangerous. It becomes inscrutable and unpredictable. Mitch and Vanessa are back and they are the most famous couple in the BDsM community. They are the Mistress with her pet “Michelle” that every Domme and Dom wants to own and play with. Because Michelle's submissiveness is well known. Even the FBI knows! Vanessa is vulnerable because of her past and Mitch because of her previous career and also as Vanessa's protector. So, they end up in an undercover mission that neither of them expected and yet Mitch can't resist the danger that it brings with it. She teeters on a borderline to the limitless. Will she remain faithful to her Mistress? Or is there perhaps someone who can captivate her just like her Mistress? It's extremely exciting and stays that way until the end!! Extremely hot „scenes“ are again written wonderfully ;) Anyone who loved Mitch and Vanessa in the first part be over the moon!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I didn't hate it, but didn't feel compelled to keep turning the pages either. It took me 54 days to finish, I think that breaks a record or something.
While the first book was all about Mitch & Vanessa's physical and emotional intimacy, this sequel is mostly just Mitch flirting with a scumbag grandma, while Vanessa the poor sweetheart is constantly worried out of her mind due to Mitch's dumbassery. I guess if you like age gap and seduction (early thirties/ 47), then this is totally for you. I just think that a woman crawling around on all fours in her thirties is a bit cringe. Unfortunately Mitch also loses some kudos for acting like a inept birdbrain YA heroine.
Mitch and Vanessa have always been one of my favorite couples so I jumped at the chance to grab an ARC of their sequel. I was not disappointed and I couldn't put it down. This dive into their life after everything they went through in Into The Fire was perfect. They fit so well together and are on a whole other level when it comes to "completing" your soul mate. This thrilling story takes them deep into that old darkness they both thought they overcame- all for a sense of justice and of "protection" they both yearn to provide eacother. It really was an amazing sequel. 5 stars!
Omg that was amazing. There are triggers so beware. But personally I loved it. It had me on the edge of my seat more than once. I truly believed it was real, not just a story. I was that engrossed with it. This is a must read. Read book one first to get the couple’s relationship. I’m gutted now that I’ve finished it. I want more but just about the MCS. Thank you so much C & H.
I love books by these 2 authors so was thrilled that a new one with Mitch and Vanessa was available and it certainly didn't disappoint. It's a complex plot mainly concerning the sexploitation of immigrants and desperate people. We continue the intriguing relationship of the 2 main characters both of whom suffer from ptsd and no wonder. I can see more from them in future books and their FBI cohorts.
Wow, what a twist from the MC's we know in book 1. Book 2 is dark, twisted true love and a deep insight to sex trafficking. Took me 2 days to finish the book. Upsetting and yet intrigued to read. Prepare yourself readers. I don't even know how to explain it further.
First, I would highly recommend to read Into The Fire book first. This will help to understand the main characters and their situation more. Eventhough they show up in the author other books it usually be one or two scenes. I enjoy reading the continuations of these characters and give us more of how they cope with each other. And how they dealt with the FBI case they are involved in.
This is the best book so far from Ms Dane/Ms Billings, Vanessa and Mitch star's of the BDSM circuit must take on the evil that is Candace Lister everything that is wrong in a Domme and so much more. Just read this and enjoy something truly wonderful
Into the Fire was the first Hildred Billings books that I read. Not only did I become obsessed with reading all her books, but now Vanessa and Mitch hold a special place in my heart. So, when I say this book had me in all my feelings, it is no joke. The thought of Vanessa and Mitch not making it through this together was breaking my heart. Even with the anxiety it caused, I still loved this book. You do not want to miss it.
3.5- This rating hurts me because I absolutely loved Into the Fire and wasn't expecting there to be so much action. I loved going through their struggle, insecurities, and the finding of their identities in the first book.... but I didn't expect to have to do the same and more in the second book. Both Mitch and Vanessa's behaviors at times didn't align with who I came to know them as, especially Mitch. I was genuinely worried they weren't going to make it at times. My heart hurt for Vanessa because of Mitch's behavior and was so confused how we got to this place. I didn't even know there was supposed to be a second book until I got a notification that it was released. I honestly could have done without the second book
