Lorne Sparkles. As the most fabulous dragon that has ever graced the skies, Lorne always pictured his mate as…well…at least slightly shiny. He knows he’s incomparable, but he thought his mate would match him in some wonderfully glittery way. What he’s not expecting are two mates who seem to think black is a lifestyle and not a sin against fashion.MonroeMages. When it comes to insane mates, nothing holds a candle to a drama queen mage who expects the worst…but their oblivious cutie who always has his head in the clouds is running a close second. As a Daddy without a little and a mate who’s all alone, though, Monroe knows it’s time to stop waiting for fate to have all the answers.CarrickDragons. They’re a pain in every conceivable way, but Carrick knows he’s stuck with them when fate matches him with not one but two illogical dragons who seem to have been put on the Earth to drive him crazy. Unfortunately, it seems like their insanity might be one of his favorite things about his unexpected mates. When one mate isn’t as innocent as he appears and the other two are diamonds in the rough, three men will come to realize that mates are always meant to be.
I don't know why I'm pushing myself with this series. I didn't feel the chemistry between the characters at all. Their conversations and behaviors were ridiculous and not cute. I kind of felt sorry for Carrick because he didn't seem to be getting what he needed out of the relationship and just kind of accepted that. There also wasn't much plot in this. The only conflict in this was the horrible nosy towns people. They were so intrusive, disrespectful, and out of line that if it was me I would've moved and just been mateless if my mates didn't come with me. I still will read the next book with Alick because I want to find out who he ends up with.
DNF 18% I think I need to just accept this author is not for me anymore. Dragon shifters? Check Menage? Check. ABDL? Check Magic? Check. But I couldn't handle it. They are all the same, same characters, takes pages and pages to get through one scene. I think 18% was only on about day 2 of the story. Repetitive word use, not just in this book but in all of them. Crazy - 27 x; Nuts - 11 x; Giggle - 81x. Every book has one serious crazy and one that "makes them crazy/nuts" and giggles uncontrollably through the book.
Oh well, we all come and go with authors. Time for me to just move on.
Dragon shifter Lorne has a thing for sparkles and always imaged his mate as someone shiny. What he never expected was two mates who think black is a lifestyle and not a fashion crime. Dragon shifter Monroe thinks mages are drama queens and as he is a Daddy without a little he knows that Lorne badly needs him as his Daddy. Mage Carrick finds dragons a pain but when fate gives him two dragons as his mates he knows they were put on earth to drive him crazy. When one mate isn’t as innocent as he appears and the other two are diamonds in the rough, three men will come to realize that mates are always meant to be.
I loved the mad combination of these three men who were insane in many ways but together they just worked. I loved the way that their skills and personalities fit together so well. I also think the nosiness of the residents in the local area hit a new high and I was impressed that none of the three seriously lost it. The way that Lorne protected his two mates was pretty impressive for someone who seemed so scatterbrained too. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MMM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.
I am a 50 years old vanilla, straight, married (for 37 years) mother and grandmother who is so in love with this series it's scary. I have always believed to each his own in politics, love and life in general. Even if I was slightly homophobic I would still read this series for the shear enjoyment of laughing out loud that I get from almost every page. I enjoy sarcasm and using it to make life less stressful just as this author does in every way with this series. Even the sex scenes have a humorous undertone that makes the entire "scene" worth reading. This is a lighthearted and easy pick me up read after a long week at life. The premise is just crazy enough to lose yourself in but gives you the insight to understand the lessons of trust and unconditional love expressed by the main characters. But my favorites are the nosey townspeople. I live and work in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountain Range and let me tell you, this characterization is spot on. As an "outsider" who moved here from Southern New Jersey, I can relate to believing most of the town must be aliens...lol!
Sparkles and Scowls is book three in the Blue Ridge magic series. We are in a small town where dragon shifters and mages live in secret amongst humans. Each book focuses on different characters but I personally think it's best if you read them in order. In this book we follow dragons Lorne and Monroe and mage Carrick. I'm so so happy we finally got to meet a mage. I was really curious about them. And I just love books with poly relationships. The romance was sweet and fun with no angst and our three main characters had great chemistry. Lorne was full of sunshine and sass, Monre cared deeply and took care of his mates and Carrick was grumpy but also very protective. I just wish there was a little bit more built up before they got together. What I loved the most was the way the fated mates bond was described and how they communicated telepathically. That was really interesting and cool and the description was so vivid. I really hope we'll get to know more about how mage powers work in future books.
I love this town full of mages and dragons, where privacy is an illusion and love is everywhere. Lorne discovers he has two fated mates what is normal because a special dragon like him deserves the most wonderful mate, and in his case is clear two are necessary for his happines. Carrick and Monroe are two sides of a coin, Monroe a Daddy with the heart of a caregiver and a very dedicated worrier; Carrick is a Dom with a very naughty side. And Lorne gets to have the both of them for his enjoyment! I had so much fun with their troubles with privacy and all the craziness two dragons can own, but my very favorite was the grumpy mage with astounding powers and a dirty mind. I heartily recommend this.
These three. I chuckled a lot throughout this book. Lorne is the bestest little/sub there is. Daddy Monroe and poor Master Carrick have a very distracted dragon on their hands, but they will do everything in their power to give him what he needs.
I enjoyed the lighthearted nature of the story and how well the three guys connect and work together. They help push each other out of their fears and comfort zones. They push each others buttons in a good way which makes for some good scenes.
This was a fun addition to the Blue Ridge Magic series. Lorne has been an interesting dragon since the first book, and it was great to see inside his head. His love of shiny things is only the start! Monroe was a tough looking daddy dom with a soft heart, and Carrick was a moody and dominant mage with amazing talents. These three together were sexy, cute, and funny. I loved seeing their connection grow. This series has been amusing and entertaining, and I look forward to the next in the series.
Lorne is a dragon who sparkles and a mind that wonders. When fates gives not one but two mates he gets a dragon who is also a Daddy in Monroe and a mage with Dominant tendencies in Carrick. Together they complement each other perfectly and a bond quickly blooms.
This was a fun read with nosy neighbours, dragons and mages with piers and a lovely ending. It’s definitely best read in order of series for maximum enjoyment of the story.
I love this series so much. The little dragons are so cute and such devious little troublemakers. Their mates have their hands full trying to keep them in line, which they never manage to do of course. Laine is obsessed with sparkly things and rather too find of glitter. Kenzie is still confused about why people want privacy (along with the rest of the town). Altogether a delightful read and I can't recommend it enough.
Two dragons and a mage end up being mates, and it’s as wonderful and hilarious as you might think! It turns out that dragons have interesting, and not quite accurate views on mages, and then there is sparkly Lorne with one daddy dom and one more traditional dom, plus all of the insanity that the town has to offer. There is definitely an HEA, but there were also parts that had me howling with laughter - don’t miss this series!
Loren will keep his daddy and his papa on their toes. He is sneaky. It was nice to see a mage that didn’t just do flowers in the series. I’m glad he has his two mates to help him lighten up and not be so grumpy all the time. The way he’s torturing the rest of town with his privacy rules makes me laugh every time I think about it . The author did a good job of interweaving three separate people’s lives together.
I absolutely loved this story. I am enjoying this series so much. Lorne is the sparkliest dragon ever and I was so excited for his story. The world building is amazing and the characters are all so fascinating that I just want to know everything about them. This was another great addition to an excellent series.
This third book is brilliant, Lorne is my favourite character in this series and the fact he finally discovers that he had not just one mate but two is so much fun. Carrick is perfectly Magey and a little sneaky and Monroe is a squashy Daddy they are the perfect foil for the hundred miles per hour Lorne. I loved this book from start to finish.
A Daddy, his sparkly little and their scowling Dom together were so much fun. I loved the banter between the two dragons and their mage. It was a joy watching them learn each other. Again, the towns people we as nosy/helpful as ever which had me laughing out loud a few times. I'm loving this series and the world that it's built around. Happily recommend.
I love the dynamic of Lorne, Carrick, and Monroe. Each of them talks about how the other two are nuts and it just shows that each of them has their own special bond with the others. Finally seeing into Lorne’s crazy, naughty mind was fabulous! I love MA Innes’ writing and the sassy, snarky, over the top mages, dragons, and humans in this series do not disappoint. Neither do the nosy neighbors 😜
I loved Lorne, Carrick, and Monroe’s book. It’s fun, low angst, and filled with all kinds of naughtiness. Lorne is even more glittery than he seemed in earlier books in the series and it makes perfect sense that he needs two mates to balance out his zaniness. I’m now kind of hopeful Alick’s mate is a mage.
I so loved this book. It was so sweet and funny. I mean how can you not love Lorne and his mates. I think Lorne got the right mates that were made for him. Who would’ve thought mages and dragons could be together, if you thought they couldn’t they will prove you wrong in this story. Such a great read and can’t wait for the next book to come out.
I think Lorne, Morgan, and Carrick broke my brain. I couldn’t keep up with those three. But Lorne is adorable and definitely knows how to manipulate his mates into seeing things his way. I got a tad confused at some of their interactions and the townspeople get on my nerves a little. Way too nosy for my tastes but it’s a cute book.
The whole dynamic between the three was so 😗🤌🏼. The way Monroe was such a worry-dom but the way he had Carrick to balance out everything with Lorne, was so wonderfully written. Lorne was such a brat, granted he was incredibly adorable but absolutely MAJOR brat vibes throughout the entire book from him (but it's okay, having two Doms worked out absolutely amazingly for him)
Awww ... This was so cute. Loren is the sparkliest Little ever and so much fun to read. Giving him two mates seems to be Fates way of covering all the aspects of his crazy personality and the three of them are perfect! Of course, all the Littles are over-the-top adorable and I can't wait to see what happens next. Such an amazing series!
I couldn’t wait for this one. I knew Lorne was going to be a handful so it’s no surprise he has two mates. Getting to know them and their talents was an added benefit. This is an amazing series and this was my favorite one yet.
I enjoyed this story so much; I lost count how many times I had to stop reading and wipe the tears from my eyes because I laughing so hard. Thank you so much for writing such series and amazing characters.

This book is amazing! Lorne, Monroe, and Carrick are so great together. I love how their relationship grew, and they all grew in the knowledge that they all wanted to be together.
I could not get into this book, mainly because Lorne irritated me. This was a me problem and not the writer's fault. Lorne was cute at first, but I found him tiring as the story progressed. Loved Carrick--I found him the most interesting of all three characters. Recommend reading.
I really liked this book. 4.5 stars for rating, 4 for spice. Lorne was a bright and interesting personality. He definitely needed both Carrick and Monroe to keep up with him. And there was a lot of ridiculousness that kept me smiling.
I love these guys. How does one sparkly Dragon get himself into so much trouble that he needs two mates to keep him in line. But his two mates are so grumpy they can’t use a little sparkle in their life!
Two dragons and a mage make an interesting combination in this book by M.A. Innes. Lorne, Monroe and Carrick have lots of fun exploring their mate bond and what goes into being a good mate. This is the type of book that M.A. Innes writes so well.
