Facing the Christmas holidays apart from his estranged daughter, famed private investigator William Baget reluctantly attends a Christmas Eve dinner at The Golden Cap, a new speakeasy in New York City set to open in just one week, after being invited to spend Christmas with his long-time friend, Freddie Lewis. The dinner is hosted by an old university acquaintance, Arthur J. Vincent, and attended by a small group of family and friends.
What begins as a festive evening quickly takes a murderous turn when Vincent is found dead under suspicious circumstances.
Plagued by reminders of the daughter he no longer speaks to, Baget is forced to investigate the sudden death—and, with the killer still among them, he must race against time to uncover the truth before another member of the party turns up dead.
Hi! I'm Francesca, but I publish my books under the name F. C. Villani. I write across multiple genres so, who knows, maybe you'll find something here you wouldn't mind spending a few hours reading.
"A Merry Little Murder" is a book that once I started reading, I couldn't put down until I finished it! FC Villani is great at creating suspense, and her writing style is very descriptive to create vivid imagery for the reader. My favourite part of the book is where Ralph asks Baget whether he believes in "predestined paths of life" - a question we have all asked at some point. Baget answers beautifully.
Combine Agatha Christie and Mitch Albom together and you have FC Villani. The book had all the components of a great mystery novel with a faithful twist. Well-developed characters, cheeky scripture cameos, and a narrative that keeps you guessing until the very end. Must read!
A Merry Little Murder by F.C. Villani is a suspenseful and well written mystery with a twist I didn't see coming! From the start, the suspense had me hooked, and it was very hard to put down. Such a fun and entertaining read. Highly recommend for anyone who loves a mystery with a clever twist!
