I met West Haven when I was eight years old. He taught me to play poker when I was nine, and we made paper airplanes together when I was eleven. He kissed me when I was sixteen. He was the best part about my family’s summer vacations to Montana. He was the boy who stole my heart. I was twenty-three when life ripped us apart.

Years later, I’m breaking my vow and returning to the ranch, not as a guest but its new owner. West might want me gone, but even he has to admit the only way to save his family’s legacy is with my help.

It’s not easy working side by side and facing those old memories. But this situation is only temporary. We’re at a crossroads. And as long as I don’t let myself fall in love with West Haven again, maybe this is our chance to put those ghosts to rest. Maybe this time we’ll finally be able to say goodbye.

Started and finished this book in just 3 hours 😂 SO good!!! I mean name something better when the spice starts at like 40% 🔥 Everything I could ever need in a romance: under 300 pages, NOT cringey, a summer romance, goooood spice, and again emphasis on not cringey!

”collisions on crossroads. West and I were nothing but collisions on crossroads.”

Devney Perry knows her way around words. I love her dexterity in translating an armada of emotions through a few syllables, only a couple of sentences. although 'Crossroads' isn't by any means a memorable read, it was an enjoyable one nonetheless. narrated in two distinct timelines, past and present chapters that retraced West and Indy's anterior and actual relationship’s evolution. passing by the tragedies, dramas, and losses they encountered throughout their childhood, teenage, and adult phases of their lives. I must admit that i appreciated the concise way the past chapters were written, as they were the most emotionally challenging part of the storytelling– I didn't feel like crying too much. all in all, it was the archetypal small-town romance with a breathtaking panorama, filled with hot cowboys and a good soupçon of family drama.

I am a sucker for stories of first love. I liked how it went back and forth from past to present tense. We got to see their love story grow from childhood to adulthood. 🩵

There are some very sad parts. I guessed one of the surprises in the story from the beginning, but when we finally got to the part where it was revealed, it was heartbreaking.

I loved the Ranch that this book took place on. I wish I could visit it. I loved the story of their family and how it has been passed down from generations and the drama of what goes on with that throughout the book that I won’t spoil.

The epilogue made me so happy I actually got goosebumps. I was just rooting for them so much and we also got a few glimpses of what leads into the next book I believe.

Overall a very good read I would say 4.5 ⭐️s rounded up!

3.5 ⭐️

why is this the single most conflicting book known to mankind??? there were some parts i really liked, like the setting and characters but at other points i didn’t like how the relationship developed (at least in present time).

she was a cute past and present pov childhood friends to lovers but *something* that i just can’t put my finger on was missing. i’m really thinking it was them in the present trying to find their way back to each other because there were hookups galore before there was conversation, not my cup of tea. and also the fact that there was NEVER foreplay???? i’m not over that 😐

This is not a romance, it's a cautionary tale.
Every single character here is toxic (and not in a fun way).
The red flags are everywhere.

So the whole thing here is it's a second chance romance, small-town country kind of thing. The fmc bought the mmc family ranch without him knowing and they have a past. That's basically the setup.

From here there are spoilers so this is your warning:

- She's obsessed with him and like it's not cute, she has no self-respect and makes no sense.
- They have basically zero relationship outside of s**. Which also felt super random and was cringy and I had to skim it.
- He was with another woman in between sleeping with her.
- She got married to an a** because her dad liked him so she kept him (literally).
- She actually said "I'll wait for him even if he doesn't wait for me"
- When they sleep together in 'present' time her first thought after is it's ok cause I have birth control and not dude is he clean and then she is like 'oh we better have the safe s** talk soon
- The mmc dad cheated on his wife and that affair resulted in the younger brother and their divorce. He is also a mess, unkempt, cranky, drunk? mean to his sons, a horrible businessman.
- Her ex? WTF? but at least it makes sense for you not like him as he is a side character and we should hate him regardless.
- The whole deal she made with her ex?! This whole time we were told how she makes the ranch turn around, and she has ideas and she's so smart and amazing and then that is the best she could do to solve that whole situation?
- The mmc said about his ex fiance that 'she never stood a chance'; 'if she only knew he had been sleeping with the fmc all those years'; oh and he didn't even propose to her but he understood that's her direction so he bought her a ring which she found and just put on her finger and he was like 'ok'.

I CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP.

I completely devoured this & couldn’t put it down! This setting was perfection and I loved how the dual timeline was done. If you’re a fan of In The Likely Event I think this book will be right up your alley! (Very different plots but similar in style IMO).

LOVED West & Indy and watching their journey unfold. Devney’s writing style is so captivating, this was such a joy to read❤️‍🔥

I hate using cruel words to describe someone’s work.
But I hated this. I’m sorry, but I did.

This book had no soul. It had a foundation, but without any substance.
The love interests didn’t know each other.
I’m not overreacting.
This can’t have been a second chance romance, because they were never actually together, and they just CAN’T have been in love.
I thought, through the whole book, that they had had some epic love story and one of them broke the other’s heart in a cruel way.
But really they met one week, not even every year.
And after one summer when they had grown up, West decided to move on and got engaged.
And then she got married to someone she didn’t particularly like.
But her father liked him, so she stayed with him🤦🏼‍♀️
Anyway.
What went on between them was a summer fling at best, and only physical escape at worst. They admitted to each other that they didn’t know the most basic things about each other, but they still talked as if they had been desperately in love and carried each other’s hearts on their sleeves.

Every single person in this book was cruel.
Not just mean. Cruel.
Where do I even begin.

West’s father was mad at Indya for buying the ranch, when he should be on his knees kissing her feet for buying the business he ran to the ground, was willing to stay for a whole year to fix everything he ruined, and then sell it back to his family for a FAR cheaper price than she bought it.
Instead he quit and didn’t help restore it.
Charming, I know.

West was mad at his father for selling the ranch, but he came across as more furious at Indya for buying it because it irked his pride to have to work for her.
He showed no respect.
She ran herself to the ground to juggle every broken piece of land she was trying to save, and he was just bitter, not showing up to meetings, making her life that much harder.
And then at every turn he was all “that was actually a good idea. I never thought of it. I should have. I just didn’t care about anything anymore”

Jax, West’s brother was just the same. Refusing to work for her, not showing up taking guests on hikes, and started listening to rumours about Indya being a bitch.

West’s mother was a terrible, terrible human being.
I hated her when she first had a conversation with West and found out about the ranch being sold.
West was all “I didn’t know about it”, and she was all “that’s not good enough! Fix it West!” And stormed off in her car.
I’m sorry lady.
You haven’t had a conversation with your ex-husband, the man who ran that ranch for years, and actually make your son be the go between whenever you see fit, because you can’t grow up and simply talk to your ex husband. And you think you have any right to comment on decisions being made about it and be heartbroken and furious when it gets sold, when it had been run into the ground? And you never did anything to help out at all as it was happening!
Go touch grass lady.
I hated her even more when I found out she wouldn’t let Jax call her “mom”!!!
She raised him since he was a baby! (Jax was the product of an affair between West’s father and someone else).
West even told Indya about how his mother would correct Jax anytime he called her mom! And acknowledged how it must have been confusing to him that he called her mom, but Jax wasn’t allowed to. OF COURSE IT’S CONFUSING, NOT TO MENTION CRUEL! He was literally in diapers when he came to live with them! Not to mention how none of it was his fault and the only “mother” he ever knew was that sorry excuse of a woman!

Indya was no saint either.
She always made a comment about how she was the boss, how it was her ranch, and the very first day she came there to talk to them, she just went right on up to the study and sat behind the desk. As if to prove which position was hers. Which was above them.
That is destructive leadership right there.
What happened to being humble. Or demure.
There was also such controlled leadership where she would spend entire days hovering over people’s shoulders, such as the kitchen and the housekeepers.
Set guidelines, make rules, get to know the employees, then trust them to do their jobs without hovering. That’s what true leadership looks like.

Now, you may be asking where the romance in present tense takes place. Please tell me if you find it, cause it isn’t in the room with us.
They had sex.
The end.

The book was just one horrible person after the next, and in between those people it was just a bunch of administrative work to get the ranch back up and running, that was of absolutely no interest whatsoever.

I’m gonna find some comfort food now, because I’m sad this was the book I read on the ONE DAY OFF I have had in ages!

“West and I were nothing but collisions on crossroads.”

I'm disappointed but am I surprised? I suppose not.
I had a feeling I wouldn't like it but I still hoped it would be good. This author tried to convince me that the main characters had feelings for each other, and while I could see it, I did not believe it at all. I had to laugh, and the flashbacks were cute until they became boring. The plot is good, but the execution could have been better.

Коли я хворію то мій ескейп це книжки про ковбоїв, ранчо десь in the middle of nowhere і тихе життя.

I loved Indya and West’s second chance romance! It was a fun and emotional story. The location/small-town vibes were great. I loved how much Indya loved West… what a grand gesture. I hope we get a book for West’s little brother, Jax.

It’s a 3.5⭐️ for me and the word that springs to mind is CUTE 🤠💖

I needed a palate cleanser after an absolute journey of a series before and this delivered. Surprisingly I LOVED the flashback chapters and usually I f*cking hate going back in time and have been known to skip these in other books, but I massively appreciated that they were short and sweet and gave some much needed context to present day.

Would have liked more scenes of West giving me more cowboy vibes in present day on the ranch.. what was he actually doing all day?

It’s not my fave Devney Pez book since it will always be Jasper Vale for me tbh, but it’s definitely a sweet and (mostly) easy read 💖

Devney Perry set impossible standards and expectations with the Eden series. And that was a double-edged sword. She writes some of the best small town romance stories I have read so far, and I really enjoyed reading her books. Her writing remained the same in this one but the plot was a little boring and idk, but a spark was missing between West & Indya. I felt nothing at all 😔

I’m still looking forward to more exciting series from her in the future though.

Devney Perry has had written a lot of time-waster books, but this one takes the cake. It was a train wreck; a plot that flatlined, a lame hero, an occasional pick me heroine, a romance with the zero-chemistry duo, and a twist that twisted my patience.

Crossroads is a second chance, small town romance. Sadly I struggled a lot and it was because of numerous things. First off the romance between Indiya and West was cute. Also both their relationships with their families were great but sadly not much happened in Crossroads. Indiya has bought the West’s ranch and with it comes a lot of practical and administrative work which wasn’t interesting. I felt there was a lot of inner thoughts and dialogue so I didn’t get the connection to the story or characters that I had hoped for.
The reveal towards the end wasn’t a surprise. Overall the story was very predictable. I’m disappointed cause I had hoped for more.

There is something uniquely special about the start of a new series. As the author introduces us to the setting, the families, the community - everything begins to come alive in a very magical way. But book one in a series also has to do all the heavy lifting. While obviously not fantasy, romance series require some amount of world building. As a result, the pace is usually slower as we learn all we need to in preparation for the books to come. While this was not necessarily my favorite Denver Perry book, it is a very solid series debut.

I enjoyed reading about Haven River Ranch and the characters that call it home, particularly Indya and West (ps I’m obsessed with this spelling and name combo). As we learn about their turbulent young love story, particularly through a series of flashbacks, we simultaneously experience a reawakening of that romance.

I always like the way in which Perry develops her characters; they are flawed, realistic and entirely relatable. These two seemed completely unmatched and yet I cannot imagine a more fitting partner for each of them. By the time the good ole HEA rolls around, the emotional investment was present and accounted for.

Read if you like:
• small town settings
• second chance romance
• childhood friends-to-lovers
• grumpy x sunshine
• opposites attract
• dual timelines

Crossroads is the first standalone in Devney Perry’s new Haven River Ranch series and I loved this one so much. This is small town Montana, childhood friends to lovers turned enemies to lovers, forced proximity, second chance, all on a western ranch setting!

Indya grew up enjoying summers at a Montana ranch with her family every year. On one of those summers she first met West when she was 8 and he was 10 and they pal’d around together during her trip. West’s family owned the ranch and his grandparents were the ones to start it. We see over the years Indya and West’s friendship and relationship grow and evolve as they become teens and into their early 20s. Now it’s been 4 years since she’s returned to Montana but she’s back, as the new owner of his family’s ranch!

This was just the epitome of what I have loved with previous Devney Perry books, the Montana setting, the cowboy hero, the family and side characters, and all wrapped up with this delicious slow burn, second chance. Honestly no notes, it was perfect! I’m so excited for this new series.

I received an ARC, all thoughts in this review are my own!

“Collisions on crossroads. West and I were nothing but collisions on crossroads.”

Devney Perry never fails to capture my attention when it comes to small-town romances. She is one of the best in this genre, and I enjoy the way she creates the small towns in her books, capturing their beauty and the comforting quality they hold. The urge to leave everything behind and settle in a small town in Montana is so real right now.

Crossroads is the first book in the Haven River Ranch series. It’s a story about second chances, a beautiful and ardent friendship that began in the protagonists’ childhood and slowly thrived into something more passionate and intimate as they spent their summers together in Haven River Ranch until they lost that friendship. But years later, they are back together on the same ranch that changed it all.

“When Indya Keller was in Montana, she was mine. Even when she wasn’t.”

Indya is a determined girl who won’t back down from anything until she sees it through to fruition. She had hidden her vulnerable side for so long, refusing to let others see her pain and trauma. It takes her a while, but she finally gets the peace she needs.

“I’d loved West Haven for what felt like my entire life. Even though I’d never said the words. Even though I’d never made him a promise. Even though I’d married another man. West was mine. Even though he wasn’t.”

West was sweet and kind-hearted, with a little grumpiness that made him the perfect cowboy in a small-town romance. He was patient with Indya, but I would’ve liked him more if he hadn’t kept things hidden from her.

“I have loved you since I was ten. Since you left a paper airplane and flowers in my fort. I love you. I have always loved you.”

West and Indya always had this undeniable chemistry that they couldn’t ignore. But their love story was cut short due to some unfortunate events. Years later, they found each other again—Indya is hell-bent on making West’s ranch a thriving business, even if it means him hating her. But can he really hate the only girl he’s ever loved? The angst is one of the main components of this romance, and it was palpable from the very start. But there is also a sweetness simmering beneath all that animosity and pain, which only made West and Indya’s dynamics more appealing.

“Kissing Indya was as natural as breathing. It should be. I’d been kissing her since I was a kid.”

I liked the ending—it was satisfying. My main issue with this book was the pacing and the miscommunication trope. I am excited to see what Devney is going to serve us with Jax and Sasha’s story. I’m not a fan of accidental pregnancy, but Devney can write one hell of a book from any trope.

truly one of my new favorite devney perry books!!! this had everything you love about devney’s books but there was just something about this one that felt more elevated and refreshing. all of her books make me long for a place i’ve never been to but Crossroads took it the next level.

i loved the flashbacks and dual timeline where we saw our love interests growing up from childhood friends to lovers and i absolutely adored the narration of these parts. just so sweet and perfect.

this book had amazing tension, a little mystery, and laced with sorrow throughout it was just perfect.

what you’ll get it: childhood friends to lovers, cowboy romance, small town, second chance, right person wrong time and forced proximity, grief.

I adore Devney Perry's books. This one was no different. I read through it quickly. This one got to me with Indy and her dad, though. As a daddy's girl, this one had me hooked on that aspect alone. West and Indy's story was an adorable childhood friends to lovers story. I enjoyed the push and pull of their relationship because I think we all can relate to that at some point in our lives. Crossroads had many relatable situations, not the millionaire part, but like Indy pulling up to Montana and just being completely unsure of the situation and being scared with this new job and role. The readers will be able to place themselves in the book a few times throughout the story.

However, at times, I did feel a little detached from Indya. Idk if it was on purpose due to her internal conflict throughout the book. This was my only issue with Crossroads.

This author can’t do wrong. Devney Perry dang girl, you know how to write romance.

Tropes I loved:
✔️ Second chance
✔️ First love
✔️ Coming of age
✔️ Enemies to lovers (sprinkled in)
✔️ Cowboy romance 🤠

This book is so sweet. It dives deep into the relationship between Indya and West how their love started when they were kids, how the timing didn’t line up, and how life brings them back around. It’s under 300 pages, but you still fall hard for these characters. You’ll be rooting, smiling, laughing and gasping for air during the spice.

It’s fluffy in the best way never boring just a good cowboy romance that hits the heart and the heat. You know that saying “save a horse, ride a cowboy”? In this case, I happily read about someone else riding one. 😏🔥

💌Verdict: I loved it. West gives big cowboy daddy energy and I ate it up. This story transported me straight to Haven Ranch now I want to book a trip to that resort immediately.

Indya loved West, key word loved. Now 4 years later after the day they both got their hearts broken, the beautiful Montana Resort and Ranch that once was West's future, is now in the hands of it's new owner Indya, the girl that got away, the girl that was never his. Now they much try there best to not only keep it professional for the resort and ranch's sake, but for themselves as well. Confined to the small piece that was their haven, they are pushed into endless amount of challenges. Will first love conquer all like in fairytales or will it end in a huge disaster?

I loved this book, the feels were there, the august aesthetic was there. I loved it. The book was just what I needed and if you love a heart stopping wrenching book this one is for you. I don't know but Devney Perry books are always, always! a hit for me. Her story writing will never stop amazing me. And I just love the comfort of the characters, imagine having Jennifer Lynn Barnes and Elsie Silver combined in a book, where you get a mystery and romance in books this is how Devney Perry writes and i'm in love with it. I love the characters, and I don't know how many times I swear my heart was about to come right out of my chest. The way the characters had me on hook was amazing. If your looking for that perfect end of summer read, this is definitely for you. I will say though the only complaint I have writing wise was it felt rushed, like I have few unanswered questions, but I think that was intentional to have your mind hook on it.

⭒✮⭒ Indya Keller
⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀Never Grow up by Taylor Swift
I love Indya, I find that she was such a lovable character in this book. I enjoyed that she wasn't a pick me or a attention grabbing character like some books in this type of genre. I couldn't help but also love how she also worked hard in the book, very inspiring. I felt connected to her in many different ways, from the way she handled her grief over people she loved, to the way she handled the consequences of her actions.

⭒✮⭒ West Haven
⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀The Difference by Tyler Rich
West was alright, he didn't stand out much compared to other characters in this type of sub-genre. I will say he followed the "list" of country men in romance books go by. He was sweet, hard working, and lovable. I did enjoy seeing him with Indya I just felt like the story was more her, than him and that he was the actual type of stereotypical "love interest" role. Which was alright it was different compared to other small town country romances i've read.

╰┈➤ “Collisions on crossroads. West and I were nothing but collisions on crossroads.”

╰┈➤ “Sooner or later, our paths would drift apart again. We never seemed to be going in the same direction, and this time was no different. He’d stay because he belonged. I’d leave because I didn’t.”

╰┈➤ “When Indya Keller was in Montana, she was mine. Even when she wasn’t.”

╰┈➤ “We were like kindling. All we needed was an ember, and we went up in flames.”

╰┈➤ “Fuck you, cancer. Fuck you.”

╰┈➤ “Time vanished. The years between us melted away. The mistakes, the regrets, turned to ash. A century wouldn’t dull this fire. Not with Indya.”

🎧Beatles — "Here Comes the Sun"

🪻 “This was my land. This was my home... Indya knew what this ranch meant to me. To my family. It was as much a part of my body as my bones.”

Розповідь ведеться у двох часових лініях. Сьогодення переплітається з флешбеками, і ми бачимо, як персонажі дорослішали, як змінювалися їхні відносини — від дитячої дружби та перших симпатій до зрілої зустрічі.

🪻 «Collisions on crossroads. West and I were nothing but collisions on crossroads. Sooner or later, our paths would drift apart again.»

Це історія про кохання, яке зародилося ще в дитинстві і витримало роки мовчання, непорозумінь, біль втрат і сумніви. І під час читання неодноразово хотілося їх потрусити, щоб вони просто поговорили.

🪻 “Time vanished. The years between us melted away. The mistakes, the regrets, turned to ash. A century wouldn’t dull this fire. Not with Indya.”

Особливу емоційну глибину додає боротьба Індії за ранчо і таємниця, пов’язана з цим 💔.
