Private Beach #1

Private Beach Volume 1: Fun & Perils In Trudyverse

Rate this book
The readers demanded it, so here it is! The original Private Fun and Perils in the Trudyverse as it appeared in 1995 is now colllected in a single edition! Follow Trudy, Sharona, Sam Murphy and friends on what has been called "a slice-of -ife story turned on its edge." Trudy Honeyvan is an eccentric, obssessive/compulsive college drop-out who enjoys goofing off with her friends and frequenting coffee shops. After a night of hard partying and hard liquor, Trudy hears a voice in her head... the voice of what she thought was an imaginary friend from childhood. It turns out that the friend is very real, and he sends Trudy on a quest that will ultimately change Trudy's life, as well as the lives of those around her.

This early work by David Hahn has kooky kids, the FBI and aliens. What more do you want?

I remember reading this and not really loving it, but the 2nd volume of Private Beach, "Secret Messages" is one of my favorite comics ever. It doesn't really have an ending, which remains eternally frustrating to me, but while this is like 2-3 issues of what seems like an artist taking inside jokes with his friends and turning them into a comic, the main characters in Private Beach in this volume take on their own life in volume 2. You don't even really need to read this one at all to enjoy "Secret Messages" so I suggest you just read that one instead.

Originally I read these in high school; I just happened to reread them today.
