PZO9056 Pathfinder Adventure Path: Raiders of the Fever Sea (Skull & Shackles 2 of 6) by Paizo Publishing

Now masters of their own ship, the adventurers can become pirates in their own right, but they must first rename and refit their stolen ship. But to be considered equals by the pirates of the Shackles, they have to prove themselves worthy of the name. When they discover a treasure map tattooed on a defeated pirate rival, the adventurers go in search of buried treasure. If found, they╞ll have enough plunder to return to the Shackles as true Free Captains!

A Pathfinder Roleplaying Game adventure for 4th-level characters, this volume continues the Skull & Shackles Adventure Path. This volume of Pathfinder Adventure Path also reveals details on Torag, god of the forge, as well as a gazetteer of locations and menaces that lurk beneath the waves of Golarion╞s vast and varied oceans. New monsters from the depths of the sea and exotic islands also fill the Pathfinder Bestiary, while Robin D. Laws (author of the Pathfinder Tales novel The Worldwound Gambit) continues his tale of pirates and lost treasures in the Pathfinders Journal.

Each monthly full-color softcover Pathfinder Adventure Path volume contains an in-depth adventure scenario, stats for several new monsters, and support articles meant to give Game Masters additional material to expand their campaign. Pathfinder Adventure Path volumes use the Open Game License and work with both the Pathfinder RPG and the world╞s oldest fantasy RPG.

I'm being generous with my 3 stars here. This is a very weak entry, in my opinion, so in my personal campaign, I'm replacing large swaths of it with the Plunder & Peril module, which covers the same levels. A lot of it is fairly sandbox-y, which is fine in and of itself, except that it leaves the entire second module feeling more aimless than I like my adventures.

It is not without its highlights, which I do plan to incorporate: Rickety Hale of Rickety's Squibs went over very well with my players, for instance. The Lady of the Rock section is also great, and I'd like to find a way to integrate the cover character, Isabella "Inkskin" Locke, that doesn't involve sahuagin, who frankly bore the shit out of me, which is probably 50% of my problem with this module. I also really like the ghost ship, and intend to incorporate that.

The back matter makes for very dry reading, as it pretty much details all the oceans, seas, and ocean-faring creatures of the world, but I can see how it could be useful for reference.
