I chose him because he was the biggest, baddest looking man in the crowd.
It was a spur-of-the-moment decision based exclusively on fear. Fear that my cheating, handsy in a not nice way, ex-fiancé might catch me.
He wrapped me up in muscle and ink, his voice rough, smoky sin as he stood at my back to save me from a monster.
Before I know it, Mr. Big and Bad has me living in his cliffside house—playing his fiancée!
Believe me, we have our reasons. And, yes, they’re crazy.
Only, when we decide to make it official, and I become his wife—ahem, fake wife—things start to feel like more than play. With every fake kiss, every searing touch, and every look from those frost-burn-me eyes, it’s feeling more and more real.
Against my better judgement, I’m really starting to fall for him. But monsters don’t stop hunting just because their prey has muscle at her back.
He claims he’s the bigger monster. For me, he’s been nothing but a teddy bear.
He’s a man of many masks. I’m the woman who is going to strip him of them all.
Oh, after I strip him of his—ahem, down to his ink.
Born and raised in Alberta, Canada, Alannah Carbonneau is only a short drive away from the Rocky Mountains that have a staring place in so many of her novels. With seventeen novels and counting currently available on Amazon, Alannah is not only a full-time author, but a full-time mom of two beautiful boys, and wife to an amazing man who always has her back. She lives in a rambling ranch house that needs way too many renos and has one too many cats, but she is happy and in love.
With a solid circle of friends and family, and a very manly, supportive husband who does his best to make sure his family is taken care of, Alannah’s novels feature manly men (sometimes they can be a LOT manly) and friend/family relationships weaved into the stories, because life is about a whole mess of people, and although this is fiction, the best fiction is sprinkled with sweet (and sometimes not so sweet) bits of reality.
Because she loves romance, Alannah writes Contemporary and New Adult Romance. Soon to be released is the Creekwood Valley Series that has ties to the reader beloved Donnelley Brother Series, where light suspense and romance weave to create titillating stories that not only steal your heart but keep you on the edge of your seat. She is the author of the highly rated Teach Me Series, an emotional read about love, life and lessons learned. Our Dark Design is a standalone erotic romance peppered with enough suspense to keep you turning the pages, and The Choice is an entirely unconventional standalone romance about three.
She is currently working on a Cross World Fantasy Romance Series for Adults she can’t wait to share with you, because this will feature hot men who are a little bit dominant and a lot protective who are head over heels in love with stubborn, magnificent women.
When Alannah isn’t writing or spending time with her three men, she can be found in her garden, or with a paint brush in hand. But no matter where she is or what she’s doing, you can bet that she’s thinking of a love story she can share with you.
I’ve quickly become a fan of Ms. Carbonneau with her rock romance books. This book was a fake marriage with mafia and suspense mixed together. Nevaeh finds her ex cheating with her best friend and when he approaches at a bar trying to get her back, she runs to the biggest man she sees. There is so much more to Kane than she realizes as he is connected with not only a rock band but who is part of the Russian mafia.
With this encounter Nevaeh never expects that this man would do whatever he could to protect her including becoming, what she considers, her fake husband. Kane has other ideas on their marriage.
With every book I read from this author she has drawn me into her rock romance world.
Loved the story. Had me tearing up in the end. Really enjoyed the combination of wholesome family with dark on the edge of your seat suspense. Enjoyed the introduction of a new character. Looking forward to reading more of the series. Spice is on point. I hope there is a new story featuring the older brother. Happy reading.
Oh I think I like this one so much more than Cash and Wren's story. My goodness. Poor Naveah! She really went through it. How she caught the eye of not one but two psychopaths is terrifying. Im so glad she ran into Kane. Hes so amazing. Plus he has the power behind his money and his family name to protect Naveah. They are perfect for each other in every way. I love how Ilya came to scope out Naveah and how quickly he approved of her. He may be terrifying but he adores his now little sister and she's family. I wish she would have been able to meet his side of the family, but it wasn't a necessity. Tav's book makes me so nervous with how it may devastate me.
Alannah Carbonneau is my new favorite author! After Naveah (Heaven spelled backward) caught her ex cheating on her, she stumbled into the arms of Kane Volkov, a drummer in a famous band. Kane proposes a deal that he fake marries her to protect her from her ex and his hired goons. Little does Naveah realize that the marriage isn't fake at all in Kane's mind...
Alannah writes such great possessive heroes! The climax felt maybe a little rushed, I don't know. I didn't fully understand one thing that happened. That's the only criticism I'd really give.
I wasn't surprised at all when the author said she wrote this book in less than 30 days because it flowed seamlessly.
Thanks to BookSirens and Alannah for the ARC! This hasn't affected my honest review. I'm excited to see what Alannah has next in store for us!
(This book only took me a while to read because I had a few library books to read first.)
I had to get Kane's story after seeing how he reacted with Wren's story ending. Not to give anything away if you haven't read the first book. All are standalone but better understood if read in order. Trigger warnings if assault is one of yours. PTSD too in my opinion. I'll be getting the next book that comes out!
Deal With The Devil: Devils Heartbreak - A Fake Marriage Rockstar Romance by Alannah Carbonneau is book 2 in the Devil’s Heartbreak series. This book is about Kane, a guitarist for Devil’s Heartbreak who has a family with ties to the Russian mafia and meets Nevaeh at a bar who seeks him out to rebuff her ex, who refuses to leave her alone. The second encounter occurs when Kane visits a bandmate’s girlfriend at the ER, where she is a nurse, and sees Nevaeh bruised and hurt from a brutal beating meant as a message from her ex-fiancée. Kane convinces Nevaeh to move into his gated, secure home to protect and keep her safe. Nevaeh’s ex continues his campaign of threats to coerce her into marriage, which brings her to the conclusion that she only has two choices. Choice 1 is to return to her ex and beg him to marry her as he stated was a requirement, or choice 2 is to marry someone else. Kane realizes that as the days pass while spending time with Nevaeh, she is his “one and only”; thus, he must convince her to marry him. Nevaeh agrees to a one-year deal to live as a fake wife to Kane. During this volatile time of trying to stay safe and live her life, Nevaeh and Kane discover not only companionship but passion that ignites physically and intertwines their hearts and souls. Deal With the Devil, book 2 of the Devil’s Heartbreak series, has given me a strong, morally gray, yet softie inside new book boyfriend. Each band member of Devil’s Heartbreak met in college, but they weren’t just a typical struggling band. All four band members have family connections and trust funds to draw on besides the money earned as a band. Alannah Carbonneau has written a unique rockstar romance series that makes me want the next book in her series to come out as soon as possible. I have found a new favorite rockstar romance author in Alannah Carbonneau. I recommend checking out her book reels on Instagram, which are attention-grabbing.
The second book in this rockstar romance series that doesn’t disappoint. Kane is a guitarist with a dark past but a bright future. Nevaeh, a media designer, needs help. She caught her ex-fiancée cheating with her best friend and now he’s determined to get her back. When she asks Kane to help her, she has no idea who he is or how he’s going to change her life. After she survives a brutal attack, Kane is once again her savior and is determined to make her his wife. What starts as a fake marriage soon becomes all too real. As her attacker continues to taunt her, Kane will stop at nothing to destroy him including involving the biggest monster he knows in order to protect his “Sunshine”. Once again, the chemistry is off the charts between these two and the relationships with the other band members are phenomenal. The addition of his brother was exciting, and I hope we get to see more of him in the series or his own book. Looking forward to the next one. Well written ‘rock star’ themed romantic thriller. I loved the previous book in this series and couldn’t wait to read this one. Neveah is being stalked by her unpleasant ex in a nightclub and turns to hunky Kane (who is minding his own business at the bar) to ‘protect’ her. This kicks off a serious of events that keep the reader engaged and guessing almost to the very end of the story. The main thing I loved about this story was the fact that it is Kane who falls hard, first and fast for gentle Neveah – willing to risk his life to protect and keep her (including marrying her!) I liked that she is the light to the darkness within him, complementing the more scary aspects of his character shaped by his Bratva family legacy. A really enjoyable romantic thriller; I can’t wait to read more from this author.

REVIEW
This story blew me away. We get tons of action, and the hotness is sizzling.
Kane is a guitarist from Russia who left the hard life behind or did he? Nevaeh is running from her ex who refuses to take no for an answer. Where does she run? Yep into the arms of a HUGE man who now doesn't want to let her go.
Kane knows what Cash went through and he is determined to protect Nevaeh at all costs even if his alter ego has to come and play.
She needs a fake boyfriend, but is she ready for the real thing... It's a fantastically written story and I can't wait to read more.
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
This was Russian mafia lite. MMC is the "spare" child of bratva leader but he plays in an American rock band.
The constant CONSTANT reminders of his whoring days would normally make this a 3 or lower for me. As it was, I skipped literally all the smexy times because there were too many ick moments where it would come up. And that annoyed me because they looked like they would be Hella good.
The absolute brutal justice handed out to all the baddies made me raise my score. It. Was. That. Awesome. Like... if you ever feel unsatisfied by a suspense thriller where the villain gets off too easy? Come read this book. It's mother-effing-satisfying.
This was my first story by Alannah and I loved it. I was captivated from the beginning until the end. I loved Kane, he’s the protective and sexy rockstar guy with a special family history. I can not wait to read Ilya’s story, it sounds so promising and I would love to see him fall in love. Nevaeh was a sweet girl and fit right into the group of girlfriends. This story was a nice read to start the new year, with passion, some suspense and some great characters.

I really enjoyed this second book in the Devils Heartbreak series. Kane is truly a bad boy with a good heart and his romance with Neveah proves it. I loved how sure he was of the "realness" of their relationship and how she needed the convincing. I enjoyed getting glimpse into some of the secondary characters such as Tan and Ilya and I look forward to reading their stories. This captivating romance, rated 3.5 stars, weaves a well-written narrative with just the right amount of spice. The plot's brisk pace keeps readers engaged in this medium burn love story. The FMC is instantly likable, while the MMC shines as a compelling, possessive alpha. Though the ending lacks the same climactic intensity as book one, it ties up the story threads with a satisfying conclusion. A delightful read that strikes a balance between passion and plot progression.
A perfectly blended story of sweet innocence and unholy darkness. Story flows well, and has some awesome smexy scenes. Works well as a palate cleanser-ish kind of book, to push you back into the darker stories when needed. And I’m honestly curious about his backstory/family, specially his brother Ilya - surely he meets his match eventually, right?
Well written, sexy, intriguing, swoony, funny, and all around delicious. This book grabbed me from the jump and kept me glued to the pages as I devoured each word. I couldn't get enough--I was depressed when it was over! I cannot wait for the next book!!!!
This series so far is one of favorites. Deal with the devil has a little bit of everything. Russian Bratva, rockstar's and a deranged physcopath lt also gives you true friends and family you can count on.
Loved reading about love that is the forever kind. I can't stop reading once I started. From start to finish I was captivated by the characters and the story. Wil surely recommend to friends who love a great steamy story with heart and thrills.
I loved this story. I started it last night and ended up reading till 5am as I couldn't put the book down. I wanted to know more and more. I am still within the 24 hour window and I just finished. Great, sexy, bad boy read.
I love there was depth to Kane character. She got involved the arrogant spoiled man that not take will no for an answer. Kane and his family was there to protect her.
My first Alannah Carbonneau book and this is the first book I read in this series. I really enjoyed both characters. Plenty of spice, nice amount of drama. I read it in a day, couldn’t put it down. Definitely reading more of her books.
There is a lot of good things about this book, however I had trouble connecting with the characters. By the time I was done reading it felt more like a rough outline/first draft of a book that still needed to be fleshed out.
