Book two in this series picks up right where Broken Strings left off and this book is even more intense. After being apart, Audrey makes the move to go to LA to be with Nicky and she ends up moving in with him. Nicky is fighting so many demons that his life is out of control. Audrey loves Nicky but how much can she take from the man she loves.
Book 2 of the series picked up where book one ended, and ends with a cliffhanger into book three.
This book held my attention, from start to end. Its raw and emotional. Seeing the hurt and pain that both Audrey and Nicky go through because of all of the twists and turns in their relationship and in their lives alone, made me ache for them.
Damaged Strings picks up where Broken Strings left off.
After Audrey’s accident and her blowing Nicky off, they both go through their own personal hell. Months go by where Audrey can’t stop thinking about Nicky so she goes to LA to see if there is anything to salvage. After their reunion and despite her mother’s protests she moves in with him. Unfortunately it’s not their happily ever after. This book is so heart wrenching. It really takes you on their journey of love and heartbreak and them continuously trying to get it right. With him touring and Nicky fighting his own personal demons that keep pulling him in even with his love for Audrey.
⚠️Trigger warning: there is drug use throughout, some may find that a trigger. However I found this very healing. The author shows the POV of both the user and the one who loves them.
This is not the end of their story. 10/10 recommend!!
I can not get enough of Nicky and Audrey! This second book dives deep into what it was to be a rockstar in the 80s and leaves you feeling heart broken as the struggle with addiction plays out for those that use and care about the person. Again this was another quick read that sucked me with story line and the main and non main characters. I adore Audrey’s mother and how their story lines plays out. I would love to see more about some of the band mates and their stories as this could add to a long series in the wonderful rock and roll universe of Nicky and Audrey.

Audrey and Nicky's story continues right where Broken Strings left off. Even thought this book is very dark, I really enjoyed it. It shows real life struggles for Audrey and Nicky's relationship. There were times I just wanted to scream at Nicky, but I also felt sorry for him as he was dealt a bad hand in life. Audrey loved Nicky so much and she really tried to make it work ... but sometimes love is not enough. Although the wording was awkward at times, the storyline was great! I can't wait for the conclusion.
This is the second book in Nicky and Audrey’s very bumpy love story! There are mentions of drugs and drug use per trigger warnings . Nicky and Audrey really pull you in to all the emotions with them and they have several obstacles along the way but I feel like it makes them that much stronger for it ! Definitely reccomend and can’t wait for book 3!.

This entertaining and engaging storyline is a very good second-chance romance. The book has drama, a push/pull, on/off relationship with great chemistry and defined MCs. I liked this enjoyable collection and the characters' long road to a HEA.

This book picks up after the first one and you’re in for a treat a second time. Quicker pace and now you know the characters better. I enjoyed the book and felt like their struggles was kinda heartbreaking. ❤️🩹
This is the second book I've read written by S.J. Sullivan; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the second book in the On and Off Relationship of Audrey and Nicky Series; the story continues from the previous book and needs to be read in order.
The story continues in book two and of course it kept me on the edge of my seat turning the pages. it's well written and i can't wait to read the next book. I highly recommend this book.

— rockstar romance — opposites — good girl/bad boy — toxic relationship — substance use/addiction
Damaged Strings begins with Audrey dealing with the aftermath of the accident, losing ballet, and pushing Nicky away.
After regretting how she handled things Audrey goes to find Nicky in LA. They quickly decide to move in together, but Nicky is keeping a pretty big secret from Audrey that ultimately could destroy them.
I felt like this was a much harder read than Broken Strings. This really dove into the rockstar lifestyle of the 80s and what it was like for both a user, and the person who loved them.
Audrey was trying to hold the relationship together, even if it was hurting her. It was hard to watch Nicky constantly make choices that would hurt him and Audrey, but you also could understand the pain he felt from his childhood and not knowing how to cope. He didn’t know any other ways to handle it even with Audrey trying to help him.
This really took a downhill turn for me around the 60% mark. It’s probably just me, but I feel like this being termed a “romance” is throwing me. The story is interesting, but I just don’t feel the love between them.
The writing was a bit clunky at times, but overall another quick, fast paced read that keeps you engaged. I still struggle with the romantic relationship between Audrey and Nicky, but I am still interested to see how they end up.

Audrey and Nick are back. The story picked up where the first book ended. Again, sadly it's written in the third person, which I don't particularly like, hence 4 stars. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Damaged Strings had a better pace than Broken Strings, I thought. It has tragedy and setbacks as well as a struggle to move on for both Audrey and Nicky.
I enjoyed it.
5 stars
Thanks to S.J. Sullivan.

Damaged Strings is book two in the series by S. J. Sullivan titled The On and Off Again Relationship of Audrey and Nicky. Audrey being a Ballerina and Nicky a Rockstar. As you can imagine, these are two very different worlds in the entertainment industry. Nicky and Audrey are about as different as their careers.
I am really enjoying this series. Damaged Strings was a difficult book to read. It is hard to understand how someone becomes a drug addict and how difficult the fight is to break the addiction. You also know how some of us women always try to fix things. I think it is in our dna. We also want to be there for the ones we love and care about.
Nicky hits what I would think is bottom. He is hiding deep and dark secrets from Audrey. I feel for her and what Nicky puts her through. I also feel her pain and want to see them get their happily ever after. Do they? I don’t know. I have to get back to reading and get started on book 3. You know I’m not going to tell you how it ends. Right? You’ll have to find out for yourself. Until next time…Happy Reading!

Book 2 in the romance series featuring Audrey and Nicky. After some time apart, Audrey reconnects again with Nicky and moves in with him. Things are great at first, until Audrey discovers that Nicky is keeping a secret from her. Can their relationship survive this latest hurdle? Thank you to the author for this preview copy.
Audrey is so blinded by love she doesn’t see how much drugs are affecting Nicky. She tries anything to support him and help but the loss keeps getting greater and greater. It doesn’t seem like their relationship will last.
The rock ‘n’ roll life has really taken a toll on Nicky.
I’m really enjoying this series.

It’s taken me a while to write this review mostly because this needed to sit. This is a spoiler-free review so please ask q’s if you need more details/elaboration. I did receive an e-arc in order to provide this review :-)
The tone and writing of this book was, for me, a huge shift from the first novel. Which having completed the series makes so much sense (book 3 is much more like book 1!)
I actually love how the tone shift reflects where both main characters are during this part of their story. It hurts and it’s hard - which is where they’re both at.
But seriously if you struggle with this book, push through because book 3 is the reward!
