A really cute and quick read with likable characters including innkeeper Jo Marie, her handyman Mark, Jo Marie's missing dog Rover, and a secondary plot featuring a budding romance between two high-school students. The story's a short one so there's not much plot or character development, but this sweet small-town story really hit the spot for me.

A very small audio book, written in a voice too old for the age of the characters. I find this often, as an observation trait of mine, and it always grates.

A widow, her handyman and her lost dog. A pair of high school students and some after school tutoring, with the jock embarrassed to be seen with the valedictorian. She mentioned to him she liked his vulnerability, after he admitted he may like her - after electing to hide from other teenagers lest he be embarrassed being seen together. These characters cross paths.

It was short and written in the voice of the author, just not authentic for me this time around. I will still continue to read Debbie Macomber, and continue with the series if I can find them on audio, as the lightness always suits my reading at the right time.

Lost and Found in Cedar Cove is book 1.5 in the Rose Harbor series written by Debbie Macomber. This review will be pretty short only because this book was thirty-six pages. So don't expect too much here.

Jo Marie has so many big plans for her bed-and-breakfast. With the help from the local handyman, Mark Taylor, Jo Marie intends to plant a beautiful rose garden in time for her upcoming open house, to honor her late husband, Paul Rose. Jo Marie and Mark barely see eye-to-eye because he's just a unique person, and so different from others. Jo Marie and Mark barely agree on anything, especially on matters involving home improvement, but she knows that Mark has her best interests at heart.

After the two walk the grounds to see what needs to be done before planting the rose garden, Jo Marie realizes that her beloved rescue dog, Rover is missing. In Lost and Found in Cedar Cove, we meet Amanda and Travis. Travis is not in any way good at math, so Amanda who is valedictorian of their class, tutors Travis and helps him with learning the quadratic formula. Travis doesn't want Amanda to help him because he doesn't want her to thin that he's an idiot. I always felt like I was stupid for not knowing how to do simple math, so my heart aches for Travis.

Travis and Amanda are walking around the cove when they notice Rover just sitting across the way. Amanda instantly falls in love with Rover, but Travis remembers that a man came in the coffee shop asking if anyone who sees Rover to give him a call, that's when Travis notices this pup is not a stray. Rover is returned to Jo Marie. Super excited to move onto the next book!!!

I received a copy of this short story thanks to Random House UK, Cornerstone via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have never read anything before by author Debbie Macomber but thoroughly enjoyed this short story ebook. What a delight it was. It's always tricky to get a short story to be an interesting read, many feel like they are over before they have begun.

Jo-Marie has big plans for her bed and breakfast and during discussions with her reluctant and moody handyman Mark her precious dog Rover goes missing. Jo-Marie is really attached to Rover and is very distressed.

A search gets underway in the tiny town for this evasive and much loved pooch.

We meet a cast of great characters along the way and the story blossoms into a sideline story that just warms the heart, like a nice hot chocolate on a cold winter's day. It's just so nice, really nice. This book was perfect for me after reading a lot of heavy crime books about serial killers! (No serial killers in this one).

The characters are well developed, you can connect with each one quickly which is necessary in a short story and I am pleased to say with a tight plot, great writing and a satisfying ending it's just a really good read. I might be tempted to try another of Debbie's books now.

4 paw prints from me for this light-hearted and well written novella.

I read this ‘short story’ because it was included with the ebook of Macomber’s Starry Night.

I had watched some of the Cedar Cove series on the Hallmark channel several years ago and enjoyed it, so I thought I might like a glimpse of it in this story.

The book blurb tells what it’s about - Jo Marie has an Inn in Cedar Cove that she’s trying to get fixed up. She misses her deceased husband, is very attached to her dog, Rover, and has a handyman named Mark helping her with projects at the Inn. Rover disappears, Jo Marie is distraught, Mark looks for the dog, and friends Olivia and Grace help with moral support. Teenagers Amanda and Travis find the dog and return it, and Jo Marie celebrates with her friends.
It’s a pretty basic story, maybe trying to tie in too many people from this small community. Nothing very deep or meaningful. Maybe it serves a purpose in the Cedar Cove book series? Just reading it as a story on its own didn’t do much for me.

Genre: Womens Fiction > Chick Lit; Romance > Contemporary Romance; Adult Fiction, Short Stories, Novella

Featuring: Puget Sound Washington, Cedar Cove, Landscaping, Roses, B&B, Dog, Tutoring, High School, Teens, Book Preview - Last One Home ch. 4, 4 pages

Rating as a movie: PG

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

My thoughts: 18% pg.11 of 36/46, Ch. 2 - If these two don't get together I'm going to be so disappointed.

This story was okay. It was most definitely a short story and not a novella. It didn't add anything to the story so it is most definitely skippable, and based on that I will be skipping the other 2 novellas. I don't know if it will tie into the next book, but there isn't much to work with.

Recommend to others?: Not really, only if you love this series and dogs.

Lost and Found In Cedar Cove is an eshort in the Rose Harbor series by popular American author, Debbie Macomber. As Jo Marie discusses plans for her rose garden and gazebo with her prickly handyman, Mark Taylor, she realises her closest companion, her dog Rover, is absent. After a search of the grounds, Jo Marie spends an anxious afternoon searching for him. But Rover appears to have plans of his own that involve a certain pair of teens. Cedar Cove favourites, Grace and Olivia make a brief appearance, but the show is stolen by the handyman, who goes to new lengths to be contrary and curmudgeonly. As a bonus, there is a preview of the next Rose Harbor novel, Rose Harbor in Bloom. Sweet.

Among the three short stories accompanying The Rose Harbor Inn series by Debbie Macomber, Lost and Found in Cedar Cove is definitely the must-read one. The short story does NOT give the already-known narrative in the proceeding novel NOR does it bore one with tedious details only to be mentioned again in the forthcoming novels. On the contrary, it unveils a different sweet story that will ease your wonder in the next novel and enrich it.

This is a short story by Debbie leading you into her new book, Rose Harbor in Bloom.

Jo Marie's dog Rover runs away from the inn. She becomes so upset that she alerts many of her friends to help look for him.

Mark Taylor is her handy man who is making her Rose Garden and starts to look for the dog. Without success.

The story takes a turn and Rover helps some other people in Cedar Cove.

This is the setting for the new book and it was a fast read. I enjoyed it, I don't usually read short stories, but this one I enjoyed like all the others that Debbie has written. I am a Fan Ambassador for Debbie.

I don't believe there has ever been a Debbie Macomber book that I haven't totally enjoyed until now. Don't get me wrong, this is still worthy of 3 stars and the story was cute. Who could read a story about a dog and not like it? And the budding teenage romance was sweet.

But this story could have been added to the back of a Cedar Cove book and been just as good. I feel that 99 cents for approximately 48 pages of an okay story wasn't worth it.

Of course I will read this new series but I think this short story was one I could have missed.

This was a cute, sweet tale that really gets you into the feel of Cedar Cove. Macomber takes off with her same, brilliant storytelling, never letting you go. Although not an overly in depth story, being that it is a short story not a novel, the story itself is quite well developed. You get to know a bit about this community as well as about the community of Cedar Cove as well as its residents. It was a story that left me with a warm, fulfilled feeling at the ending, which is the point. It was a brilliant, albeit quick read that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

A short novella about Jo Marie who owns the Rose Harbor Inn in Cedar Cove. Her handyman comes over to see where she wants to put her rose garden and when they go back in the house, Rover, her dog does not come in with them. She is frantic and they set out to look for him. Meanwhile, the highschool jock and his brainy tutor are beginning a cautious relationship. Rover is out to help them along. A fun and quick read.
