Math Candy, 7 sweet stories for early readers by Amanda Trane
Few illustrations: Danny had carried around 3 dimes all day at school and was looking
forward to spending them at the candy store after school.
One of his friends tells him that will not be enough.
The teacher said it would be enough to buy candy.
They are able to sort the candy by color and decide what they want to get.

This book would be great in a 1st through 3rd classroom. This is a small chapter book that I feel students can relate to because after all what child does not like candy? The chapters are only a few pages long and there are illustrations. The candy prices are not realistic nowadays, but you could have students count coins as you were reading the story. The candy shop owner talks about the various candies at his shop. It made me think of a fun science lesson using our senses to explore sweet, sour, hard, soft, and the different textures of candy. Besides counting money, the book also promotes sorting. This would also be a great lesson to implement in the classroom using various candies. There is mixing and measurements included in this book relating to candy. The book promotes the estimation of candy in a jar.

A great math concept book for 2nd grade readers! My daughter was intrigues over all the yummy candies mentioned. It truly painted a picture in her head to help her read and imagine what was going on.

What a clever fun story this is for kids 6-9!

I did not see any thing wrong and thought this was a marvelous way to help these kids in learning how to figure things like how much they could by with what amount of money they had to spend. Therefore I want to give this five stars and recommend this for those 6-9+. I received this ebook for free and in return, here is my honest review. Super job Katrina! By Angela
