Dandelion

Rate this book
On the weathered outskirts of a small town stands the remnants of a long-forgotten service station, one of the last relics of a simpler age, an era that has been blown into scattered fragments by the winds of time. Its sole occupant is a man named Walter, known as Walt the Bum, a Vietnam veteran who has taken root in an old shed on the property. Unbeknownst to Walt, his life will inevitably and permanently change, and he will move on, but not until he meets Amy, the one person in the world who can wisp away his worries.

A young adult coming-of-age story set in the backdrop of the Reagan Era and the coming suburban sprawl west of the Mississippi, Dandelion is a wistful, heartbreaking, yet persevering tale with just a hint of magical realism at its core.

What folks are saying about this book
"Like in poetry, there's a certain kind of lyricism to this book, as Greer and Booth take you on a journey through small-town America and into a haunting new appreciation for the 'common' dandelion. You'll find yourself drifting through the pages, uncertain about your final destination, but when you arrive—well, you'll just have to wait and see. Dandelion is a great read that you'll want to share with friends." –Bryan Thao Worra, award-winning author of DEMONSTRA and On the Other Side of the Eye.

A good story

Kept my attention. Had a nice, nostalgic atmosphere to it. Good characters. A good read during summer. A nice bit of hometown, magical realism.
