What I liked:
I believe Demon I’ve Become is the debut for C Reid and she got a great plot! The plot is outstanding in fact, it’s what I love to read!
The spice is top notch!
A why choose, dark bully romance?? YES PLEASE!
I loved the diary entries and how C Reid chose to set them up in the book.
Things I didn’t like:
I did find it has a few plot holes that I hope are cleared up in book two. Biggest one being, Caleb found copies of Kayla’s diary in Dante’s notes, meaning Dante knew the entire time about Kayla and Julian. Caleb also took copies of the files to talk to the guys but it was never brought back up nor was it addressed at any point and they acted like they just guessed Julian was with Kayla.
I also did not like how weak and timid Kayla was portrayed at the end beginning. I wanted to reach through the book and shake her and scream “baby girl noooo run away fast now!”. Gahhhhh!!!! She’s seeing Julian for almost a year and he makes l0ve to her all night but bullies her during the day… and she just…. Deals with it???? 😬 But I understand this is a dark bully romance so that did not reflect on my rating. I really hope she’s different in book two. I would love to see her come back strong, feisty and be able to avenge herself.
One last rant!!! I love RH guys okay so that’s not the issue here BUT! It kinda annoyed me how seemingly every guy Kayla came across she got the hots for. Okay I understood Dante. We know he was setting things up to try to swoop in and get her but hen Nolan comes in…. Will he be added to the harem next book? I’m not sure. We don’t really know anything about him but he’s friendly with the guys so… maybe? I didn’t think so with how they described their arrangement but I’ve seen such things happen in other RH novels.
Demon I’ve become is filled with lies, betrayal, secrets, suspense, and $exy scenes all of which leave us wanting more. The first half of the book I HATED all the guys. In fact, I still low key don’t like Julian. I feel he should have handled things way differently. However, once we stated getting more of the story and things started falling into place we understood he has his reasoning. We still don’t have the full picture yet and I am hoping book two will clear up any lingering confusion and resentment I/we have.
That ending though!!!!! Excuse me!!!!! 😳🫣 when’s book two coming out? I must know what happens next!

OMG!!!!! I couldn’t read this fast enough!! ARC read and holy crap!! I love everything about this. It’s got spice, plot, hot guys, and the characters are well written. They’ve each got their own past and I’m so interested to see what book 2 brings. Read. The. Book. You won’t be disappointed!!!! Fingers crossed book 2 comes out soon, because I need answers!!!

I loved this book so much!
It was so easy to get hooked and stay hooked since it had spice and action from beginning to end. A RH with delicious spice, it can’t get better than that. The plot is an emotional ride in itself and will take you one amazing journey.
The cliffhanger at the end definitely leaves you needing to read the next one!

I liked how this book started with Kayla’s diary entries to her parents. Seeing her write down her thoughts and her excitement as she meets Julian.
Okay so I was kinda confused at the beginning of the book like why is Julian so cruel, but as I kept reading it made more sense. Julian was truly doing everything to protect Kayla. So even while it was very harsh on Kayla & her mental health, there was a purpose that is revealed later in the book.
Despite their best efforts, Kayla is inevitably pulled into their world. With that comes three tests that she must pass to become a Reaper. However, this does mean that they guys can fully embrace her & I loved seeing their true personalities.
The trials Dante puts her through are no joke & he truly is the villain in this story. Like why is he so focused on Kayla?? Also hello Nolan.
And excuse me… that ending?! I’m going to need book 2 ASAP. Also love that she’s an avid reader & I hope we get to see their reactions to reading ACOTAR with her. And I hope we find out what happened to her parents & Caleb’s parents.

So where to begin?!
I really enjoyed this book and felt it had hella potential, but there were times certain plot lines felt rushed or just missing - being the star loss or it would have been a 5.
I loved the characters. However, I found Kayla a bit naive/push over and Julian a bit sappy (Zane, Kit and Caleb were my faves of the MCs)
It's also not standalone which maybe I just didn't notice 🤷♀️ and you get left with a big question.

Kayla basically looses her parents and becomes more of the recluse she's always been but gets into gaming and meets Julian during a raid battle. Being a little nuts she decides to use her savings to switch universities and transfers to his, which he doesn't take lightly.
Once there, she spends her days being horrifically bullied by Julian and his 3 friends (all part of a not so secret society) and her evenings with him consoling her tell her its for her own good..
Eventually the leader of The Reapers (not so secret society) tells Kayla if she joins the bullying will stop and then it all goes south from there...

Wow!!!
This book had me from start to finish! There was a state of mystery and suspense for about a third of the story. Slowly, some truths are revealed and more questions arise.
Filled with lots of spice, all kinds of emotions, secrets and some drama.
I loved Kayla. My heart went out to her too.
I admired her quite strength as she kept going, despite her pain.
I questioned Julian at first. Once I learned the truth of his actions, he changed my mind. I honestly loved each of the guys and I can't wait to learn more about them.
I think this was an excellent beginning to Kayla's story. I'm not gonna lie though, that ending was tough! I hope we get book 2 soon, because I need answers!!

Let me start out by saying Courtney Reid came out swinging on this debut novel. I need book 2 like tomorrow! As always, please check the trigger warnings on this bad boy!
This book was an absolute BANGER! The beginning was tough to get through with the bullying content and made me so fricken angry. Then you start falling for the boys (reverse harem), and then the ending just leaves your mouth on the floor.
A huge round of applause C. Reid, because that was terrific!

I wasn't sure how I was going to like this book at first. I didnt know if I like the way it was going. The more I read and the more the storyline progressed, the more I was interested. There are definitely TWs in this one and some parts that make me want to reach through the book and do not nice things to a character. But by the end I wanted more of the story and to understand more!

I’m a sucker for dark romance and secret society type books! I knew from the beginning I was going to love this book and it did not disappoint at all!
Julian, Zane, Caleb and Kit each will steal your heart in this book all in different ways. This RH will have you on the edge of your seats so many times.
Dante….no comment my mama told me if I ain’t got nothing nice to say I won’t say it. lol
That ending though…I knew going in it would be a cliffhanger but THAT!?! I’m dying to have the next book I need to know the mystery behind Dante and what his real issue is and why our girl!?!
Hands down an emotional rollercoaster and the last couple percent I felt them all…the fear, the pain, the love, the disgust, the heartbreaking pain of it all.

This book gave me all the feels. I felt for Kayla throughout the entire book. I was so mad at the guys in the first part of the book. When we slowly started to get more answers the behavior of the guys made sense, and I started to like them all. Really good character development, and we really got to know them well. It was action packed all the way through, and I couldn’t read it fast enough. The ending was heartbreaking, and I need book two asap 🥵
Really good spice and plot. Can’t wait to see where the story goes 🤩

Okay first of all let me just say that normally it takes me a couple chapters to really get into a book but let me tell you from that first page I was a goner!!
I stayed up way too late and woke up early just to read it!!
With that being said I must say this was an amazing book!!📖
I was kinda iffy about Julian at first and I really thought that I wouldn’t like Kayla, Just because of the red flags Julian gave off!! But seeing how he and the others were with her it for sure changed my mind!
Spice level was great! Honestly I love that it started almost page one!!

I went in completely blind. I had no idea this was a RH but I love them so that was totally ok with me! I wish we got more back story on everyone and more from everyone else’s pov. This book is very fast paced and will have you excited to read early. I love that the FMC had POTS and other conditions that help tie into the story as well as being inclusive. This ends on a MAJOR cliffhanger! Ready for book 2!

Demon I’ve Become is the first book I’ve read from this author and I’m so glad I found it! The author has a unique writing style that I really enjoy. I enjoyed the diary entries at the beginning and end as well. This was different from the other bully romances I’ve read, and other reverse harems. It didn’t have a lot of bullying and it was very fast paced. I feel like so much happened in this book. Poor Kayla. I feel so awful for her and need her to be able to avenge herself in later books. I don’t know how I’m ever going to wait for a book 2. I finished this one in less than 3 hours. This is definitely dark, especially at the end. That cliffhanger was brutal.

What a debut novel?! Spice, secret society, and why choose?! I love that each guy we get to see a new side to him when they’re alone with Kayla. Really gives you an inside look at each one! And that cliffhanger!! Ahh!

THAT WAS CRAZYY!! I need a second book. The spicy scenes were chefs kiss. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. This was definitely a book that was out of my comfort zone but i loved it. The details of the scenes gave just enough for to me feel the pain Kayla was going through. A little sad we didn’t get deeper answers about Dantes obsession with Kayla and i’m hoping to learn more from the next book.

What did I just read!? I can't believe this was a debut novel. It was perfect, I loved every second of it. I can't wait to see what happens next in the story. It spoke to my dark heart. I was angry with the characters, crying with them, and celebrating with them. I was so mad at the guys and still have so many questions. I can't wait for the culmination of this story.

Kayla is a very complex character. She's dealing with the grief and depression from losing both parents. Her mother is always on her mind. She looks to her for guidance, as a confidant that she confides to through her train of thought. Kayla's journal entries gives an insight into her life before transferring to Ravenwood University. Behind Kayla's timid state, she is a very fiery FMC. The book is well written. I wished we got more of Kayla with each boy individually, but the times where Kayla has her time with each alone shows another layer of each boy. I liked how Kayla's reactions to things said into the book were the reactions any girl in the real world would have when hearing a line like "It's cute that you think you have a choice." Kayla as a character really stole the show and makes you deeply invested in her and root for her to persevere.
Semi-Spoiler: There's on page S A.
Usually in dark romance, S A is used as to create trauma for the FMC to face and really doesn't add anything significant to the overall story, but usually turns it into a revenge story and for that reason I don't like S A in dark romance books. But in this book, it adds to the plot, dynamics between multiple characters, and individual character's development. It leaves you wondering why Kayla was forced to go extreme trials that no other Reaper's member has to? What's different about Kayla in relation to the Reapers? It leaves you wanting to know what happens next after the S A. How will Kayla's relationship with each boy change? How will Kayla's relationship with herself change? Will she succumb to the depression that she is already dealing with from the death of her parents or will this light a fire in Kayla? There's so many questions that need to be answer and I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next.
Kayla is a very complex character. She's dealing with the grief and depression from losing both parents. Her mother is always on her mind. She looks to her for guidance, as a confidant that she confides to through her train of thought. Kayla's journal entries gives an insight into her life before transferring to Ravenwood University. Behind Kayla's timid state, she is a very fiery FMC. The book is well written. I wished we got more of Kayla with each boy individually, but the times where Kayla has her time with each alone shows another layer of each boy. I liked how Kayla's reactions to things said into the book were the reactions any girl in the real world would have when hearing a line like "It's cute that you think you have a choice." Kayla as a character really stole the show and makes you deeply invested in her and root for her to persevere.

Usually in dark romance, S A is used as to create trauma for the FMC to face and really doesn't add anything significant to the overall story, but usually turns it into a revenge story and for that reason I don't like S A in dark romance books. But in this book, it adds to the plot, dynamics between multiple characters, and individual character's development. It leaves you wondering why Kayla was forced to go extreme trials that no other Reaper's member has to? What's different about Kayla in relation to the Reapers? It leaves you wanting to know what happens next after the S A. How will Kayla's relationship with each boy change? How will Kayla's relationship with herself change? Will she succumb to the depression that she is already dealing with from the death of her parents or will this light a fire in Kayla? When the author says this is a dark bully romance..it’s dark! I read a lot of dark, and it’s definitely at the top. With that said this book was amazing! I absolutely loved it.
Be prepared to binge this book, I couldn’t put it down. The characters made me feel so many emotions I was so mad, then emotional my heart just hurt for Kayla. The writing was so good.

I loved the diary entries at the beginning. It was amazing to read. The spice was so hot! I can’t wait for more ahhh i loved it.

Hmmm... where to begin. You're definitely going to want to read the trigger warnings for this one. I loved the journal entry prologue; it threw a lot of information about Kayla at you rapidly. There were some things that were left unanswered, and the ending was expected but still made my jaw drop. I am interested to see where C. Reid takes the story next.
This was my first bully romance, and it was much more MORE than I expected. You grow to love Julian despite his actions. Then you grow to love his friends. Don't even get me started on Dante. All this to say, read the trigger warnings, and if you're good, READ the book!

I really dove into this one & ate it up. A debut, why choose, college, dark bully romance? Count me in.
The boys were sexy, mean & brutal, just how I like em. & the sex scenes were 🫡🔥
There were a few plot holes I would like to be cleared up in book two but didn’t stop me from enjoying the story!
I do also wish Kayla was written more confidently & ballsy to give them bullying right back to them but she was a little too scared for my liking but I did love her, hopefully she comes out from her shell in the next one

What a whirlwind.
I love Julian his love and devotion to Kayla is the best.
I loved the spice.
Wish there was more of a back story though, like why was Dante so interested in Kayla who killed her parents? So many left questions unanswered and that cliff hanger 😲🤯

Read trigger warnings before reading!
Firstly, I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to someone looking for quite a dark reverse harem.
This book fundamentally followed a girl, Kayla, who moves to a new school because of the guy she loves. Except what she doesn't know is that she's going to be put through merciless rounds of bullying at his and his best friends hands for rejecting the leader. Through proclamations of love, it takes a lot in Kayla to keep on going.
I really did enjoy this story and some of the twists really caught me by surprise.
After the cliffhanger, I personally cannot wait for the second book and I will be waiting at the edge of my chair for it. This book was so good and I'd definitely give it a read, but be cautious of the triggers.
