I honestly don’t have the energy or motivation to write another negative/semi-negative review so I’m just going to be as brief as possible and list my likes/dislikes.

What I liked

1. The dedication. This is what I always read first before diving into a book and I have to say I’m touched by the author’s dedication. Inspiring, uplifting, positive, and set a good mood for me to read the book.

2. The poetic paragraphs right before each chapter! I have to say, those are what made this book stand out (in a good way) and I loved how the author connected each chapter title to the descriptive paragraph before….emotional and heartfelt to read!

3. The writing style. Though the syntax lacks complexity, there were times when I was reading where I did feel that “jolt” that makes me go “YES!! Now that’s what I’m talking about!!.”

What I didn’t like

1. Book details. For me, a story is comprised of three things: the backbone/basis of the book, the meat/details that build up the story, and the plot pace aka the execution and how well the author can sell said story. This book has a wonderful premise (or the basis of the story) but unfortunately I found the detail department to be extremely lacking. Everything was mostly on the surface and there was no in-depth digging to any particular event.

2. Plot pacing. There were a few times I had to sit back and scratch my head. Why? Suddenly a few weeks would past and in one chapter half a year passed without me knowing….This ties into the detail part too since with the events happening all over the place, there isn’t an exact timeframe I could pinpoint. Also,

These two factors really messed with my reading flow and I got frustrated. It's like you're reading something and all of a sudden there's a gap and you can't fill it to make your reading process smooth again. Nevertheless, I’m really glad that this series got my attention on Amazon because I would never have read them otherwise. To me, these are average, a little above average reads and I’d recommend them if you have the time and if you’re in the mood for romantic suspense and some dark-ish content.

NOT a standalone. You must read book 1 first!

But I must say that Mark gave me a lot of interesting parts to read. Again, he was the most interesting character. Leo made a wonderful appearance as well and I'm glad the author chose to change this into a dual pov installment. I don't know if I would have enjoyed it quite as much if it weren't for Leo's perspective. Why? Because I still just couldn't find a reason to like Morgan. I was so tired of seeing her, hearing her, reading her, etc. Truth be told, she's the reason this book lost two stars.

Now, maybe I'm a bit too optimistic, but I hope the confusion is cleared up with the next installment. Although, with the blurb and reviews I've seen, it doesn't seem that promising :(

What a crazy series!

Beyond Revenge not only carries on the story of Morgans kidnapping and her families hopes of finding her, it also looks back in parts to the earlier life of Leo and his childhood. It also covers bits of Marks life before and during the time he was in prison.

Although marked as romance, it is definitely NOT ya lovey dovey romance type!

Enjoyed the second book a lot. Only one star down from the first book because you really have to suspend a lot of disbelief and common sense at the ending. But still a continuation of a great story with fantastic characters.

Continuing in the second of a three part serial comes a suspenseful, fast paced and growing love story.
Ripped apart from a world she agreed upon with Leo, Morgan is yet again thrown into the darkness.
This well thought mind spinning vendetta is full of surprises that'll leave you on the edge of your seat.
Leo and Robert join forces and begin the long, agonizing journey to freeing Morgan once again.
With horrific actions forced upon her and the environment she's been living in for months.
You have to face the darkness before you get any light, right???
Her spirit never dies and Morgan is one tough, determined cookie.
In the continuos of darkest days since being abducted, she holds onto the love she has in her only salvation.

This book and series as whole for me, in a word....Meh. I skimmed through quite a bit if this book. Too much repetitive inner monologues. I also felt like the things that happened to Morgan were a bit salacious. With all the horrible things she experienced, it was unbelievable that she could just resume back to a loving relationship with Leo. While some of the scenes were intense, overall it just didn't work for me. Sorry! 3 stars

So glad I read Book 2...liked all the twists and turns...Mark was a nasty, awful man who I am glad was taken care of...hell was too good...I was only sad about the fact that Morgan would not see her parents again...I know it is a small detail but it just made me sad...the love between Morgan and Leo was inspiring...I was really glad I read the Ransom Series...enjoyed it a lot!!

This book was as suspenseful and unpredictable as the first. Douglas did a great job with the continuation of Leo's and Morgan's story. I'm a little disappointed by the ending and Morgan's father's fate. Also, I would've liked to know how they spend the rest of their lives since Jack's money could only take them so far. Overall though a wonderful read.

Wow....

I thought that book one was okay but book two brought a new prospective to this story- the character development, the twists and turns of the story, the suspense all served to make it a thoroughly engaging sequel!!! I loved it!

I would have loved an epilogue to see what happened with Robert and Cindy. But overall I really enjoyed this series.

Stuck in the middle

Ok. So the second installment wasn’t terrible, it just wasn’t great either. I still don’t understand why Jack didn’t give Morgan an IUD. He turned out to be quite resourceful so it wouldn’t be so crazy. But I guess that would ruin the story.

**AVERT YOUR EYES, SPOILER AHEAD**

Another thing I didn’t care for was Mark surviving the cabin. It’s just too farfetched.

And finally, I am no legal expert but why was Morgan still considered a criminal? She was kidnapped, drugged, brutalized, raped and forced to commit criminal acts repeatedly. Oh and she survived all while being handcuffed in a small basement room and pregnant. I’m pretty sure that makes her a VICTIM and no court of law would convict her.

I rolled my eyes at all of the inner dialogue. I hope the last book doesn’t aggravate me as much. Off to download now.
