Henry Carlton, the reluctant Baron Blackwood, bears the weight of his father's legacy, and is haunted by a tragic hunting accident that left him marked. When he's tasked with Emma's guardianship, he's drawn to her musical prowess, yet, scars and memories hinder a genuine connection with her. Confronting responsibilities and his own insecurities, Henry must navigate the delicate dance of love, overshadowed by whispers and stares.
Can he finally break free from his dark shadows?
When Emma and Henry discover their shared love of music, it leads to a powerful bond between the pair of them. And yet, they both know that their feelings are in vain. Henry’s duty to Emma is to see her married to someone worthy—not a disfigured man. Emma on the other hand seems to have attracted the attention of another charming suitor… Will Emma and Henry's shared passion for music be enough to transcend societal expectations and mend their wounded hearts, or will the power of music remain an echo in the grand halls of Blackwood Manor?
"The Melody of a Baron's Heart" is a historical romance novel of approximately 80,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
This is a lovely story about Henry a Baron who was hurt in a hunting accident and carries a scar on his face. Henry believes he is not worthy of love and that he will remain alone. Emma the young woman who lost her father and is now Henry’s ward. They find that they have a love of music, Henry with his piano and Emma with her violin. I really enjoyed the book except I felt so frustrated that instead of being open with each other they just assumed they knew what the other was thinking and feeling. There was a lot of misunderstanding that grew from their own insecurities and hang ups. Emma becomes injured and it is only then when Henry might lose her forever that he finally admits he loves her. The story of Emma and Harry Is full of surprises that neither one of them were expecting. Emma's father died and had arranged for his friend to take care of Emma and help her find a suitor, but this friend died before he was able to help her. His son, who did not get along with his father, was left in charge of helping her and that is when all the surprises begun, from the dislike of Emma's situation to Harry's position to help her, even thought he was attracted to her, but was self conscious of the scar in his face and thought she disliked him. In the end all the difficult surprises were fixed and they had a very good ending. A great story to read. Great job Alice!
Henry had never recovered from the hunting accident that left him scared. He couldn't seem to forgive his overbearing father for making him go in the first place. What woman could live a face like his and want to be with him. After his father passed Henry found letters stating he was to be a guardian of a young woman. Apparently her father and his were good friends and her father felt if anything happened to him his friend would take care of her. This is a pleasant love story with no surprises. I found some parts a little boring but all-in-all it was a worthwhile read.
Enjoyable read with a couple problems. Early in the story, Emma shares her love of the violin but, later it is disclosed as new information. Another place, Henry has tea in his study after breakfast but, he immediately goes into the garden, to see Emma, and it is called evening. Most upsetting though, the two links for the EE lead to two different books, Songbird for Duke's Heart and Destined for Brooding Baron. Good story and I enjoyed reading it. No mistakes in wording but the couple places in the story as mentioned. Recommended. Thanks, Eliza
I first read "A Wallflower for the Stoic Duke"... I liked Max and Anna but the recurring angst made me skip pages just to get on with the story which had some really good elements. So I picked another by this author... " The Melody...". Skipped a lot of pages! Could never develop a feeling for Henry. Emma was sweet but the person I liked best was Aunt Agatha.
The heroine is grieving her father’s death and finds music healing. The hero is now her guardian, but he is very withdrawn due to his scars. As they draw together to heal, another character enters the picture to had some drama. The hero is torn between a guardian’s duty and his own feelings. It was a good read.
Our hero is too self absorbed. One facial scar does not make the man. How we deal with scars in our life is what makes us who we are inside. Henry was too sensitive and took everything like the world was against him. This is a good story but the author spent a lot of time focusing on Henry’s anger at his father. She even used it to help Emma fall in love with Henry. They say love heals all wounds. I say only if you are open and allow it too.
There was a slow start on the beginning but later the story picked up well and I enjoyed it very much when the hero came around and was able to make up with the heroine. However I was disappointed about the enhanceed epilogue because it was that of another story of hers. .This story can be read by people of all ages
Emma was not like other ladies, caught up in outside appearances she knew what really counted but it took a while for her to convince Henry of this event. Iit was an enjoyable read good characters at a good pace.
Great story line and relatable characters. Just the right amount of romance, anticipation and a great ending. I like that the author didn't leave out the ending to all the characters not just the main ones.
Beautiful story, and great characters wonderful story line. Two lonely people trying to find their way. Then they discover Their shared love of music. And this is where Their love story begins. Thank you ❣️
