“I knew…you were meant to be with me from the first spin on the ice,” he said. “Then, when you laughed and tipped your face back to catch the snowflake on your tongue, I knew if it wasn’t you…it also couldn’t be anyone else.”

Frosted was pure wintery wonderfulness!! I was able to immediately suspend my reality and enjoy this novel from beginning to end. When an author transcends magic into the mortal world and executes it to perfection, it proves why fantasy is one of my favorite genres. Love, love, love Wendy Sparrow’s tale of magic mixed with steamy romance and chilly weather. A perfect combination that kept my attention and had me finishing this book in one sitting.

In this story, Jack Frost balances one foot in the magical world and one in the mortal world as he tries to bring his wife back to their winter kingdom. It’s been seven years, and Kate Finley can’t seem to let go of her human existence to reign alongside Jack as Ice Queen. Always looking for an escape plan, she flees to the warmer weather of Florida, which is just beyond Jack’s reach. But when a career obligation brings her to the snow-filled state of Denver, Jack pulls out all the stops to court his wife and convince her to come back to their kingdom.

Jack Frost was crafted to perfection. I loved his dialog and combination of moody moments and romantic attempts that gave him not only a charming side, but also an edgy allure. Kate was the perfect character to compliment Jack. Together they were easy to fall for, and I found myself enjoying their adventures and interactions.

I have to point out the book cover. It was a PERFECT complement to Jack Frost’s character. That is exactly how I pictured him and the eye candy was much appreciated. Thank you very much!

Overall, being the first novel I’ve read by Wendy Sparrow, I’m convinced this author has what it takes to charm me with her tales of romance and fantasy. I look forward to reading more stories by Sparrow. Fun and sweet read that fit the bill to perfection.

To be perfectly honest, romances aren't usually my thing. I'll admit, I'm a prude, and graphic s-e-x, I don't really care for. SO, I was really glad to find that in THIS romance, there was none of that (so if you are looking for book porn, try 50 Shades). I love "love". Just stories about people finding it, and what they go through to get there, and this fit the bill. Also, it's not hokey. Maybe you look at it and think, Jack Frost? Seriously? But don't. It's not at all cheesy!

The only thing that could have made it better was maybe more specific character development. I just want to know more about the winter world, the different beings there, more specific back strories, but, then it would probably be like 700 pages (but perfect idea for a sequel...hint hint!). It's just a personal thing, of wanting to know as much about everything as possible, but doesn't take away from the meat of the story. And the descriptions that are there are really good. I could picture it all (I am a very visual reader. I need to be able to see in my head what is going on).

I'm not going to write anything specific, bc I don't want to give spoilers, but it's a nice, quick read, when you are looking for something to make you feel all warm and fuzzy, and not like you have to wash your eyes ;)

4.5 Stars: I love, love, love the cover. Maybe because the cover is so awesome, I wanted to fall for Jack a little bit more than I did.

Kate's side of the story is really well done, but Jack's story felt a tad weak to me. He starts off somewhat immature but in a likable way. Somewhere in the story, he loses that immaturity--making himself a worthy husband--but we're not shown enough about why or how he changes. It's a novella though, and it's always hard to show enough in short stories. :) Maybe the truth is that I just wanted more Jack. LOL!

I am an absolute fool for fairytales redone for grownups, and whenever I find one well done, I know the author is a kindred spirit. Jack Frost, adult and looking for his foretold queen, and it turns out immortal men are just as clueless as the regular ones, lol. Seven years these two (adorable) nitwits spent apart, because neither H nor h spoke up and talked, but in the end, the Winter Kingdom (and the mortal world!) were saved. Lovely, non- erotic fairytale, a sweet, quick read. Nice job!

Until Frosted, my vision of Jack Frost was more like Martin Short in The Santa Clause 3, rather than a blonde, sexy hot guy. Jack Frost, an unexpected marriage to a mortal, estrangement, and a runaway bride? I had no idea how this was going to play out when I picked up this book, but it did, and it did well!

Kate and Jack were both fabulous main characters, frustrating as anything at times! Kate was terrified of love and commitment and Jack wasn't doing a very good job of showing his love. Kate was emotionally scarred and Jack hadn't truly had a life for most of his existence. All of that combined made them fascinating, and frustrating. But as the story progressed and we learned more about them, it made it that much easier to fall in love with them both!

Things to love about Frosted...

---"Jack Frost" mythology. I loved the "Jack Frost" story used as the premise for the story. It was a completely new twist on the stories of Jack we all know.

---The winter kingdom. The author did such a great job of describing this world that I felt like I was there.

---The estrangement. I thought it was an interesting take, and perhaps a bit of a lesson, that the estrangement between Jack and Kate was causing a bit of global warming.

---A new vision of Jack Frost. Sexy blonde guy beats Martin Short's Jack ANY DAY!

---The love story. Not every love story is perfect from start to finish, not even one based in a tale. I loved that Kate and Jack had baggage of their own and issues getting to their own fairy tale ending.

My recommendation: An absolute must read if you love good romance, a bit of heat, and a happy ending!

This was a short story, so this will probably be a short review. Who new that Jack Frost could be so hot? I expected to come across a story of a chilled Jack Frost that would have been cold both physically and emotionally, but that isn’t what I got. And it made me smile. Jack Frost is a sweet heart, or yeah and he’s a sexy tall man with crystal blue eyes. *Swoon. The story starts off in the middle of the story, so to speak. Jack and Kate have a past and she can no longer run from it. Surprisingly there was no sexual content described, but that doesn’t mean there was a lack of heat.

Good:

Jack—not the typical Jack we’re use to

Kate—A woman torn, but determined to find out where she belongs

Bad:

I don’t know Kate’s background information slipped by me, but there wasn’t a lot of info about her life before Jack and what happened with her family.

Overall (Writing style, story line, and general):

Overall this read was short and sweet. I never had to re-read something. I was never really confused about anything other than what happened in the last seven years with Kate and her family. There was heat, and pretty good story-line and new kind of Jack Frost. Wendy Sparrow sure knows how to make your winter warm with her quick romance.

I really enjoyed Frosted. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm friends with the author and was privileged with the opportunity to read the story early. That being said, here's my review.

Ms. Sparrow creates amazing characters. They have depth, humor, motivations, and flaws. She does such a good job that I wouldn't be surprised if Kate walked up and tapped me on the shoulder. Being in Arizona, I'd be pretty surprised to see Jack - especially during our 10 months of summer.

I share in the thoughts of many of the other reviewers that the story is too short and I'd have loved to be able to spend more time with the characters as they overcome their challenges and inner demons.

Being a novella, the plot is concise without feeling rushed or that any turning points in the story have been neglected.

Congratulations to the Ms. Sparrow on her official debut!

3.5 stars - I liked this frosty fantasy romance

Second chance romance for Jack Frost and his run away bride. This was original, my only nits were that Jack wasn't given time go re woo his leading lady, so her change of heart was a bit abrupt.

I honestly can say I didn't know what to expect when picking up Frosted. Hmmm, a story about Jack Frost meeting a girl who falls through the ice and making her queen and then letting her go and finally chasing her down to convince her one last time. Sounds interesting, but can it work in a novella? The guy on the front was telling me it could and I honestly don't even go for blondes (my husband is dark headed and I've found my type is mostly dark-headed men). I mean look at him, doesn't he scream read this book :) So I did and I was delighted.

Yes I will be honest and say both characters, Kate and Jack frustrated me at times. But that was part of the story. They were both in love but both afraid to admit it or didn't know how to admit it. One was scarred by life, one hadn't really lived a life. I found them both to be interesting characters and once the novella really started moving and the story started really revealing itself I found myself understanding them and when I understod them, I liked them more and more and I fell in love with them and the story. Wendy does that, she makes you fall in love with the story which is magic itself.

I loved the use of the Jack Frost tale as the background with the winter kingdom and an immortal who controls the weather, even goes so far as controlling the weather for the woman he loves. It was a fascinating read with a different background even though as Wendy simply states it is at it's core a book of boy meets girl. However she does add layers to it that make it so much more.

Frosted becomes a very a very enjoyable read that I could hardly put down. I love the novella because it ensures a quick read, yet it's a complete read. It develops characters and develops a storyline without leaving you wanting too much more like a short story does. Frosted willl read quickly and you will want more but only because you will grow to love Kate and Jack. So grab you hot cocoa and a blanket and if it's cold enough, bundle up near a nice warm fire and enjoy Frosted. It may take away some of the chill of these waning winter days.

My Rating: 4.5/5.0

Full review on blog: http://gloriousbooks.blogspot.co.uk/2...

I have to start this review off by saying I'm really picky with romances. There are some things I can't stand in a romance and there are also things I have to have in a romance read. This book was pretty much an okay read for me - it had a lot of problems in my opinion, but it also had its moments.

It was mostly the characters that threw me with Frosted. Jack Frost had a lot of potential as a character - he was complicated and mysterious, but while he had loads of depth, he wasn't developed enough to keep me interested in the end. I had a similar problem with Kate. I understood where she was coming from in her decisions but it just wasn't there for me. There wasn't enough of a justification for leaving Jack in the first place when I couldn't understand why she felt the way she did - it didn't go deep enough for me. Kate's excuse is her family life making her into an incredibly independent woman who doesn't trust enough to commit to a relationship - but in the story she already mentioned she loved Jack from the beginning. The problem was that I felt I hadn't gotten to know her well enough before the story ended.

Another problem was that I found the plot really cliché. Sometimes it can come across as charming but in this case it was a little overwhelming. I knew what was going to happen from the first few pages of the book so, of course, I felt there wasn't much point in reading on in that case.

However, what I did like about this read was that the interactions between Jack and Kate were really sweet. Every time they were brought together Jack would say or think things that would make my heart melt and wish that someone would say these things to me. Part of reading a romance novel I think!

It was also an incredibly quick read. That's not always a good thing and I would have liked to get to know the characters better but it was still an entertaining read. You can literally finish it in an hour if you're a quick reader.

Jack Frost, I've always loved him, and in Wendy Sparrow's novella Frosted, you get to look at Jack from a whole new perspective......a grown-up one. After falling through the ice Kate finds herself in a fantasy world with Jack Frost, and ends up marrying him, becoming his queen. She cares for him, but isn't really sure she wants to be in this magical place, at least not forever. He agrees to let her go back to the mortal word to "put her affairs in order," giving her 2 years to return. Kate, fearful of commitment, runs to Florida to get as far away from Jack and the cold weather as possible. Though she gets away from the cold weather, she can't stop feeling cold all the time, and she sure can't stop Jack from visiting her in her dreams every night, and despite the cold, what happens in her dreams is very hot. What Wendy doesn't know is that her running away has affected the balance in Jack's winter kingdom, and if he doesn't get her back soon, all will be lost. Jack reverts to some covert mortal methods to get Wendy back, but will he be able to do it in time, convincing her that he does really love her and she belongs with him?

Frosted is a fast-paced and fun contemporary romantic fantasy that is the perfect fairy tale for grown-up girls. I liked the fact that Wendy Sparrow combined the contemporary element with fantasy, still maintaining the "magic" of Jack Frost, while adding the modern day romance feeling to it. I enjoyed seeing Jack Frost all grown up, and despite his name and the "coldness" that it represents, Jack is quite the hottie, which was really nice. I especially enjoyed the "icy-hot" sizzle that was incorporated into the story. For all of you big girls who still love fairy tales, and also love contemporary romance, Frosted is a fun, sexy little novella you might enjoy checking out.

Originally posted What I'm Reading

So, yesterday I didn't feel like jumping into a novel just quite yet. The last book kind of left me with that unsatisfied feeling, so I decided to read a novella. I'm so glad a I got a chance to read Frosted by Wendy Sparrow.

Well, this debut author brings to us a story about Jack Frost and his queen. Now when you think of Jack Frost you don't think of him as a man looking for love, but you would be surprise.

Seven years early Kate Finley meets Jack when she fell through the ice. However, she got cold feet and couldn't fully commit to living forever in an ice kingdom. So, Jack let her find her closure with her family and friends. That was super nice of him.

To keep Jack at bay, Kate decided to move to Florida. After all winter has a hard time making its way down there. However Jack comes up with a plan to try to win his queen back.

Oh my goodness, this story was heart-warming in a frosty way. I loved this story. Jack shows so much love for Kate, which makes it incredible. I mean he truly sacrificed himself to make her happy. Granted being a guy, he didn't say the magic words to the girls heart, but he showed it. I think it would have been easier for Kate if he had said the words. Then again I don't think she would have appreciate all that he gave her if he had said those words.

Heart-melting story even on a cold winters day. So, if you are looking for something quick to read and wonder what kind of love Jack Frost would be interested, you might want to checkout Frosted. I hope you all are keeping warm. I'm trying and I hope to see you soon.

It was an amazing book. I didn't think I would like it so much but I was wrong. It was a book with winter and snow and for that I love it. "Frosted" was a very interessant book and it's the first book I have ever read with winter's king.

This book is about Kate, a girl who fell in the cold water when she was skating. This was her destiny. After that she should became the winter's queen but she refused. She was gone for seven years and when she came back, Jack, the winter's king, was trying to covince her to be the winter's queen. If she didn't accept this, Jack would lose his powers. Althought, he didn't tell her that thing and until she found out that she loves him, may be too late.

I liked this love story because it was normal but it was complicated. They had sex in dreams but this is kind of weird. Anyway, it was very decent and it was a beautiful story. They had been alone all their life and when they found each other, they were perfect together but they were too scared to recognize that they love each other. It was a fast read and I recommend you this book. You won't be disappoited.

Thank you so much Wendy and Entangled Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read this amazing book. Rating 5/5 stars.

This was a great quick read and I could definitely see this developing into a longer book or even a series of books. Kate had been raised by two parents who didn't realize that their loveless marriage was setting in motion a lifestyle for Kate that would almost cost her her heart. She had grown up seeing two people trapped in a marriage and eventually not even speaking to one another. They divorced and went on to remarry, but instead of giving Kate the family that she deserved, she ended up feeling even more of an outsider and unwanted. When she marries Jack, she thinks it is only to give her an escape, because she doesn't think he will let her out of his winter wonderland unless she has married him. She leaves, with no intention of returning.

Jack finally catches up to her though, but Kate doesn't believe that he really loves her - as he has never said as much. Even though for seven years they have been meeting in her dreams, they cannot speak there, but can only touch - but his touch in her dreams, while not unpleasant, leaves her cold and unsatisfied. She knows what being trapped in a marriage is like, and doesn't want that feeling for herself. But is she left cold because Jack? Or because she isn't ready to admit what she herself feels?

When Kate Finley falls through some thin ice, she never expected to find herself face to face with Jack Frost, let alone married to him. Afraid of commitment, marriage and love, Kate finds a loophole with Jack that allows her to come back to her world. She's unaware that her separation from Jack has dire consequences, until she finds herself in Denver right before the Winter Solstice and once again face to face with Jack. Can Kate trust in herself and Jack while letting go of the past?

This was a really cute story about finding a second chance at love. The author didn't spend a lot of time on the fairy tale aspect of the story, but instead focused on the emotional connection between Jack and Kate. They both had their own emotional short-comings to get over in order to get their relationship on solid footing, but they were finally able to get there.

A satisfying read and a cute twist on the story of Jack Frost.

I don't know why, but I seem to have a huge crush on Jack Frost. This version of him definitely encourages it. He sounds like he would give any woman the shivers. This story was a fantastic romance with just the right touch of fantasy. I appreciated that Kate had real problems and issues holding her back from her relationship with Jack. Not to mention it would be a little disconcerting to think you'd be surrounded by snow and ice all the time with only one other person for company. That would give any normal person cold feet. Pun intended. The Winter World sounds AMAZING. I loved the way the author described it and I wish there had been more. I wanted to know more about the winter fae. I guess when a book makes you want more, it's pretty good. This was a fast read with light sexual content and no bad language.

Really adorable romance about Jack Frost and his runaway bride.

While I could have used a bit more communication from both of them earlier on (but then, we would have no story!) I can understand both POVs and their issues. Hers are based on a life spent making sure she depended on no one, and vice versa. His are more arrogant, but when you're the King of Winter, maybe you get used to things going your way. The physical aspects (& repercussions) of their separation were a creative touch.

I felt my attention drifting a couple of times, but I was always pulled right back. Definitely worth it!

I thought it was a little bit short, but it was a nice way to spend a cold afternoon (especially with some hot chocolate!).

Frosted by Wendy Sparrow is a sweet fantasy romance.

Kate has been on the run from Jack Frost for seven years. After she fell through the ice one day, she met Jack on a land she thought would only exist in her dreams. But first she had to die so she could be there permanently. One thing that Kate doesn’t like is not being in control, and giving up her choices to become the Ice Queen is not something she has chosen.Read More...

This is a sweet, quick read. Very interesting premise, kind of a fractured Jack Frost story, or an alternate back story. I really loved the descriptions of winter, an interesting take. The pacing was lovely, and moved the story along without being overwhelming. As I often Am inclined to do when I read about interesting worlds, I now will look at frozen water in a different way. I am being stingier with my give star ratings, for my own reasons, or I would have handed one out to this book. Lovely!

FROSTED by Wendy Sparrow is the first fantasy romance I have ever read. Wendy was truly into her main character’s head. Kate’s description of Jack leaves the reader feeling the intensity of Jack’s eyes as he looked at Kate and the cold running through her veins. More than just reading the story, one can imagine the characters coming to life. This was a quick read, but lots of fun. It will haunt you for days afterward.

Considering this is a novella, Sparrow does a nice job of creating the story and drawing in the reader. Would I like more backstory? Sure, but since this is a novella, I was okay with what was there. The romance in this is really sweet. Jack Frost is nothing like what you might have imagined. And though there are not explicit love scenes, the romance still has a definite hot factor. I look forward to more from Sparrow.

What a great read! I only wished it were a longer book so we could learn more about Kate and Jack Frost, both in their romance and with the paranormal fantasy elements. The magic of winter was a great conceit.

You also have to love Wendy Sparrow's way with dialogue and description - you feel the cold of winter, the heat of hot chocolate and the depth of Jack's and Kate's attraction.

Cute and simple fairy tale for adults. I've been following Wendy Sparrow on Twitter for ages, and love reading her in the 140-character format, so I've been waiting eagerly to see more. This ebook leaves me wanting yet MORE. :-)

Quick, cute read. Kate had a few character inconsistencies, but they didn't drive me totally nuts. Ending resolution was too easily won, but the pacing was steady and the characters were likable.

That. What the hell was THAT? Completely out of left field a wonderfully perfectly structured little modern fairy tale retelling when I least expected it. Just a lovely way to cap an otherwise dreary day. Brava, Ms Sparrow. Brava.

Loved it!

Two songs spring to mind, Cold as ice and Feeling hot, hot, hot! Imaginative, original, romantic and a race to meet an unusual deadline page turner.
Well written and I recommend you take the plunge into Jack Frost's Winter wonderland.
