I vowed I'd never give my heart to another Ice Hockey player again. I learnt my lesson the first time. But then I met Kallen Jones and he became a huge problem.
Not only is he on my "Don't Fall In Love With A Hockey Player" list, he's sitting pretty high on my "I want you" list. But I can't date a puck head again.
It doesn't matter how good looking he is with his blue eyes, lickable abs and heart of gold. He's a hockey player and my dad is his coach. Except Kallen isn't like the others. He treats me like a princess and has me doubting my decision and breaking my vow at every turn.

She yelled "puuuuuuuuck" as she came, and he thought about "naked fat ladies" to not get a boner. The fact that this book has an average 4.21 rating is concerning.

5 Star Review I Pucking Hate That I Love You by D. L. Gallie
D.L. Gallie is a new author to me and I have no idea how I have not read this author before. From the first chapter I was hooked on the story about Kallen Jones the woman who captures his interest and his heart.
Kallen is the new goalie for the Crushers Ice hockey and from the moment he meets Chelsea (aka Chels) Maxwell the chemistry sizzles between them. However there are complications as her father is also his ice hockey coach.
Can Kallen convince Chels to take a chance on him, after she has sworn off dating another hockey player. There’s a fine line between love and hate and Chels is torn in her feelings. This is not just a hockey story, it is a story of finding love and romance when you least expect it and of taking a leap of faith and knowing that the one you have fallen for will catch you. Or will they?
A well written story with characters who were easy to relate to and a storyline that will draw you in and keep you invested.

This was.... Not it. It was riddled with grammatical errors: periods where there should have been commas, commas where there should have been periods, run on sentences galore.
The characters had absolutely no depth to them whatsoever; they just wanted to have sex the entire book. I like smut as much as the next girl, but it could have still had something of a plot.
The Canadian frequently used Australian phrases which is strange to me, unless they share phrases.
And the fat shaming. As a chunky girl, I had to fight to keep pushing through since I don't like stopping a book without finishing it. There were at least 3 instances and it really put me off.

Another new author to me and another great hockey romance.
I was hooked on Kallen Jones and Chelsea ( Chel’s ) Maxwells story from the blurb but from the moment I picked this book up I knew I was reading a very special romance.
Kallen has just been drafted to the Crushers hockey team, his future is starting goalie and bringing home the Stanley Cup so there shouldn’t be any room for women in his life but that was before until he met Chelsea. Could there be room for a hockey career and a woman in his life and what will happen when he finds out Chelsea is his new coach’s daughter…..
Chelsea is sworn off hockey players, the last one she got involved with cheated on her and broke her heart so can Kallen prove he is any different.
This book ticked all my boxes, it has all the feels you want and expect in a five star read. It’s not just a sports story, it’s a journey about finding love when you least expect it, it’s about learning to trust again and finally taking a leap of faith knowing you will be caught by the person you love. I Pucking Hate That I Love You is a hilarious contemporary romance filled with laughs, steam and undeniable chemistry. With the liberal use of ‘pucking’ as a filler word, some of the hottest and spiciest scenes I have read in a mainstream romance in a while and a push-pull forbidden romance, D.L. Gallie has written a novel that you won't want to miss.
I Pucking Hate That I Love You is not your typical sports romance, instead it has super sweet and swoony ice-hockey player, Kallen, trying to win the heart of relationship shy Coach’s daughter Chelsea after a super, super hot one night stand. Unfortunately, Chelsea has been badly burned by her ex, Stefan Däuchmen aka Douchman, an ice-hockey player and so has completely sworn off all men associated with the sport. This is such an amazing book that shows that some chances are worth taking and that moments are there to be captured. Kallen and Chelsea are such wonderful characters that you can’t help but be wrapped up in their love story. I particularly enjoyed the numerous epilogues that showed us their life in the future, it was such a lovely touch.

I have read a few books by this author and once again it ended up being a great read.
This book first caught my attention because of the whole hockey aspect, but it ended up being the romance and storyline between Kallen & Chelsea that was the standout by the end of the story. The whole dating the coaches daughter story has been done plenty of times before and I am sure there are a million more yet to be written. But each author has their own take and I thought DL Gallie’s version was one of the better ones that I have read. I do hope that there will be a future book with JJ because I think there was enough of a teaser within this story to hint that one is on the cards? Fingers crossed. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

DNF 24% it is the fat shaming for me that has made me dnf this. I was having a wonderful read right up until it was written that he was thinking of "Naked FAT ladies, and his boner went down because no one wants see that"
I normally do not do these types of reviews because I like to push through in case I like the rest of the book but the thing is though I can not be silent about this because this is just hurtful to women who are not "perfect" or the the "perfect weight"

I really enjoyed this book! The storyline was well developed, the characters were complex and well developed and the story world was detailed. The writing drew me in and I felt immersed in the story! I always look forward to more books by this author and would recommend this book!

I LOVED the chemistry between Chelsea and Kallen, and Kal was absolutely my kind of alpha roll! Chance meetings/hookups that turn into paths crossing are my kryptonite, and this book was all that plus a whole lot more! *chef kiss*

Sadly I was not a fan of this book and the author’s writing style. There were multiple instances of fat shaming, juvenile writing and storyline, and lord if I see someone else use Puck as a filler again for a while I might scream.
The best part of that book was Coach and his wife - a breath of fresh air.

I love reading sports romances and I Pucking Hate That I Love You is one that I am glad that I read. D.L. Gallie delivers a terrific story that has some laughs, a bit of heartache with a lot of spicy thrown in. Chelsea and Kallen's story was a joy to read. The push/pull relationship that Chels has with Kal is fantastic.
Chelsea has sworn off puckheads, hockey players, because of being burned by, Stephan, and has made it a rule to keep away from the. She meets a hot and sexy man at the bar and finds out that he is not a puckhead and decides to go for it. Their night together was hot and spicy and it was the best night she had ever had. Could she see herself dating him? Yes, until she finds out that he is the new goalie for her dad's hockey team, Crushers. She gives him the slip and knows that she will end up seeing him again. Will Kal be another Stephan? When her dad asks her to help out at the office she is hesitant but would do anything for her dad. Her dad knows that she doesn't want to deal with Stephan and he will do anything to make sure Chels is ok at the office. Stephan keeps trying to get back with her and will do anything for that to happen. She now has to deal with Kal and what happened. She is still attracted to him but stays true to her rule? Can she give him a chance when he tries to prove he is different? When there is a conversation that was overheard, how will they both deal with it?
Kal is the new goalie for the Crushers from Vancouver. His parents basically walked away from him and his sister and they ended up living with his grandparents. He meets this beautiful and sexy woman at the bar. He is not the typical player, he does not go for puck bunnies. After his hot and spicy night with Chels he cannot get her off his mind. When he meets her at the office, he feels like he hit the jackpot, only to find out that she is the coach's daughter and she doesn't date players. Can he convince her that he is worth breaking the rules? When he finally gets her to date him, with the help of her mom, will things work out? When she hears something that was said can he get her to listen to him?

This is my 1st DL Gallie book, and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. It gave me all the feels, I laughed so much, I got teary-eyed, and got so frustrated and angry with Däuchemen aka Doucheman! Chelsie has grown up surrounded by puckheads since her dad is the head coach for the NY Crushers. She had steered clear from them until Stefan Däuchemen managed to find his way into her heart, only to rip it out of her chest with his cheating and lying. Then, one day, out of nowhere, she meets the hottest guy at the team's favorite hangout bar. They spend the night together, and they really hit it off. She made a rule for herself that she'd never date a puckhead again. But unbeknownst to her, Kallen is not only a hockey player as well he's also her dad's new goalie! When she finds out she distances herself from him nut he will not allow her to push him away before they get to really know each other because of his profession. Kallen is the new Canadian import into the NHL, and he's determined to not only be the best new goalie in the game but also to win Chelsea Maxwell over. So much happens between these two, and there's her crazy ex trying to get in the middle of their relationship, but they quickly find that they can't live without each other, and they eventually get their much deserved Happily Ever After! Kallen is pretty much the perfect man and he's now been added to my Ever growing book boyfriend list!!! Can't wait to see what happens next with the other guys from the Crushers team. Then she spots a hunk of a man at the bar one night and decides to “go for it” thanks to the encouragement of her BFF Margot. How could one night of hot sex with a new random guy possibly go wrong???
She finds out the next morning when she finds out the guy she’s hooked up with is Kallen Jones, the new goalie for her father’s Hockey team, The Crushers.
What ensues is a back and forth between the two main characters as Chelsea is regretting her decision while fighting the fact Kallen is hot!!
Add in a bunch of side characters, including her mum and dad (Kallens coach), his sister and grandparents, the team mates and of course the douche of an ex, and you have a book full of angst, love, fun times, sad moments and sexy times. (The spice is spicing btw 🌶️🌶️🌶️)

Kallen Jones is the newest hockey addition to the Crushers Ice hockey team. He is the new rookie goalie.
Chelsea (Chels) Maxwell is the daughter of the Crushers Coach. Last year Chelsea had a relationship with another player - and has sworn off hockey players, she won't get pucking played again, she has vowed.
Chelsea and Kallen met before he was officially signed by the Crushers team and had a one night stand. Once Chelsea realized who he was she left and ghosted him. Now, Chelsea is working with her dad in the arena to help him get organized and on track while his secretary is out on leave from surgery. Chelsea keeps running into Kallen around the arena.
Kallen has a heart of gold, and wants Chelsea and wants something with her. But, Chelsea doesn't know if she should let her heart trust any of the hockey players. Kallen has to woooo her. Will Kallen be able to open up her heart again?

Chelsea (Chels) Maxwell is the daughter of the Crushers Coach. Last year Chelsea had a relationship with another player - and has sworn off hockey players, she won't get pucking played again, she has vowed.
Chelsea and Kallen met before he was officially signed by the Crushers team and had a one night stand. Once Chelsea realized who he was she left and ghosted him. Now, Chelsea is working with her dad in the arena to help him get organized and on track while his secretary is out on leave from surgery. Chelsea keeps running into Kallen around the arena.
Kallen has a heart of gold, and wants Chelsea and wants something with her. But, Chelsea doesn't know if she should let her heart trust any of the hockey players. Kallen has to woooo her. Will Kallen be able to open up her heart again?

This book was my perfect weekend read!!!
I loved everything about this story, from the super sexy times to the heartfelt moments. This new sports romance by DL Gallie was a phenomenal read. The chemistry between Chelsea and Kallen was HOT, HOT, HOT. I think this couple could possible melt the ice on the ice skating ring.
Chelsea has sworn off hockey players after having a very bad ending with one, but I loved how Kellan was the perfect guy for Chelsea and how his determination and charm made her give him a chance regardless of being a hockey player.
So if you like: sweet, funny, super entertaining and steamy then this is the book for you. Read it you'll love it.

Chelsea got burned in the worst way with her last boyfriend so I totally see why she was giving all hockey players a wide birth and for her Douche ex to have been one of the players to be on her Dads team so he was still around sucked! What she thought was one fabulous hook up turns sour when it turns out Kallen is in fact a hokey play and worst of all he is also on her Dad's team as well. The chemistry between Chelsea and Kallen is undeniable no matter what Chelsea tries to tell herself and fortunately for her Kallen wants to fight for her, however douche canoe is doing his best to meddle. There are plenty of laughs as well as a few tears, close family, sparks that will have you fanning her face while you turn the page to see if Chelsea and Kallen get there HEA. Oh and don't forget to read Seven Kisses next so you can read about Kendall's own chance of a HEA you won't be dissapointed!!!

‘I Pucking Hate That I Love You’ was an easy, quick, and slightly over the top read. Kallen knows that Chelsea is ‘The One’ after spending one very steamy night together so the declarations of intent and intense feelings happen quickly but first he needs to win her over. Both Kallen and Chelsea were likeable characters and the quick nature of their relationship development was okay and had a small amount of barely there angst to depict that notion of taking a chance on love. For me the use of ‘puck’, ‘pucking’, and ‘puckface’ as a substitute for words became tedious by chapter nine and I found the narrative to tell you more than it shows you however for how quickly the book can be read and its pacing I could get through it. I don’t think I’ll continue with the series but it was likeable and gave the main characters a good ending.

This book annoyed me from the first fatphobic thought to the overuse of the word puck. From the lack of storyline because of all the sex and time jumps to the FMC continually referring to her ex as /him/. The misunderstanding was typical because of course she let her ex convince her of something even though she’s repeatedly stated how horrible he is, and she breaks it off with her boyfriend over it.
Then she almost gets hit by a bus and her boyfriend saves her only to be hurt in the process and of course now she takes the time to listen. And now she’s upset and has to apologize, and hope he forgives her.
This FMC is written like a horny teenager who’s spoiled by her parents and after one horrible ex thinks every guy is of course going to be the same as the ex. I just want to shake her and tell her to grow up. To stop and THINK for a moment before reacting.
…. And then, in the epilogue, her saying her newborn son is a boob man like his dad because he latched right away??? No
Then she almost gets hit by a bus and her boyfriend saves her only to be hurt in the process and of course now she takes the time to listen. And now she’s upset and has to apologize, and hope he forgives her.

What a pucking good book!
This book was amazing - I mean let’s start with the title and then give me pucking more!
This book reads like a what not to do when you’re a professional athlete… hooking up with coaches daughter seems like a good way to be riding the bench! It was filled with sass and laugh out loud moments the. WHAM! Gallie hits you out of nowhere and you’ll be left cursing her name! At least I was!
But every team has a villain and Doucheman or Douchecanoe or whatever his name is (he doesn’t deserve to be remembered properly) plays the villain perfectly (and I personally think Gallie loved writing someone we could hate because it was just so much fun and so easy)
I need more of this pucking good series - I loved Kallen and Chelsea’s story and I’m a sucker for a good sports romance! Keep ‘em coming!

"I have read a few books by this author and once again it ended up being a great read.
This book first caught my attention because of the whole hockey aspect, but it ended up being the romance and storyline between Kallen & Chelsea that was the standout by the end of the story. The whole dating the coaches daughter story has been done plenty of times before and I am sure there are a million more yet to be written. But each author has their own take and I thought DL Gallie’s version was one of the better ones that I have read. I do hope that there will be a future book with JJ because I think there was enough of a teaser within this story to hint that one is on the cards? Fingers crossed. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book."

I pucking hate that I can't give this book more than 5 stars.
I love a good sports romance, but this was more than good it was PUCKING AWESOME.
They say once bitten, twice shy?
Well Chelsea Maxwell AKA Coach Maxwell's daughter is living, breathing proof of that.
She's sworn off dating hockey players after hockeys douchiest (yes douchiest is a word) player with a capital P.L.AY.E.R. broke her heart.
Kall is hockey's up and coming goalie, he's hot, talented, hot, sweet, did I mention hot? And prepared to show Chelsea that not every man is a lying cheating sack of sh!t.
The man doesn't give up, and I'm glad he doesn't because he is everything she needs in her life.
Kallen and Chelsea are perfect for each other, now he's just gotta convince her of that.

Becoming the goalie of the Crushers is a dream come true for Kallen and he isn’t about to let anything distract from being the best that he can. Finding out that the woman he spent a steamy evening with and can’t forget is definitely a complication, but some things are worth fighting for.
After her last relationship Chelsea has one rule and that is not to date another hockey player. When she finds out that he plays for her father’s team her head is telling her to keep her distance, but her heart doesn’t seem to be listening.
Hot chemistry, a little turmoil and all the feels as Kallen and Chelsea prove they are meant to be together despite everything they need to overcome to get there.

Chelsea is reeling from a terrible breakup and has sworn off dating hockey players. However, a chance encounter with Kallen makes her reconsider her rule. Determined to win her over, Kallen sets his sights on Chelsea and will stop at nothing to get a chance with her. When she finally gives in, he puts his all into their relationship, and the chemistry between them quickly becomes irresistible.
The storyline was well-paced and didn't feel rushed. I appreciated the bit of drama towards the end, and the happily-ever-after made it perfect. I couldn't ask for more.
