His kiss changes her reality. Her caring heart changes his world.
Nerissa Sorel has accidentally entered a world beyond her comprehension. Troubled by unsettling visions disrupting her life, she embarks on a journey guided by mysterious signs, eventually veering off the beaten path. Unaware that mystical forces are orchestrating her fate, Nerissa is inadvertently swept away into a parallel dimension and tossed into the treacherous waters of Mirinthia, the enchanted sea of the Otherworld. Nerissa endures hours afloat until her body succumbs to exhaustion, consumed by the unforgiving sea. Drifting into unconsciousness, surrendering to despair, she feels a sudden rush of air as lips press against hers, infusing her with renewed life. When she awakens, she encounters her rescuer: a being neither fully man nor beast, who claims to be her fated mate. King Egon of Mirinthia is the last of his kind. With his unique heritage—part human, part Kraken—he has witnessed the gradual disappearance of his kin and resigned himself to the inevitability of extinction. In a realm where not every otherworldly being discovers their fated mate, those without such fortune face the grim reality of their species fading into oblivion. Until he hears the cry of his mate echoing through the waves, her desperate plea for aid engulfed by the very seas she was destined to rule. Nerissa is not from his world. She’s human and unable to survive underwater–until his kiss seals their fates together, forever binding her to him. Their love ignites instantly, and their passion erupts like a tempest. Yet, as Nerissa finds herself enraptured, can she forsake her former life entirely to reign forever as the Kraken's queen?
The Kraken's Kiss is part of the Otherworld series by Matilda Martel
Matilda is a Texas girl in love with a Philly boy who loves to write dirty books about two people who trip into love and fumble their way into a Filthy, Funny, Happily Ever After.
I live in Austin, with my husband, two crazy Chihuahuas and an even crazier cat. And I spend most of my day writing dirty romance books about older men who fall in love with younger women and make fools of themselves trying to win their hearts.
If you love Dark Romance, you’ve come to the wrong place. I don’t like dark heroes.
I like my hero to be successful, sweet, suave, sophisticated and kind--- and then I want him to lose all his composure and game when he meets the heroine. I want him to turn into a bumbling idiot when he spots the girl of his dreams and revert to a teenage boy in a man’s body trying to win her.
I like my heroines to be witty, intelligent, and unshakeable---who could do just as well without a man—until the hero convinces her otherwise.
I write A LOT OF AGE GAP--because I LOVE AGE GAP ROMANCE. I’ve got no other excuse for it.
No matter what kind of story it is, my ladies are ADORED, and my endings are always Happily EVER AFTER, not HFN.
I don't mind kinky stuff or gals calling their lovers "daddy", but the barely 19 year old heroine calling a 600 year old kraken "papa" made me so uncomfortable that I got itchy all over. The fact that another young girl was calling him that before, and that was where our heroine got that nickname for him was just ewww. The scene where he took the heroine's virginity made me clench my inner muscles so hard from aversion that I don't know if I'll ever have functioning vagina again. "No doesn't always mean no"? Seriously? He gave her a safe word, but still...his words during that scene made me sooo uncomfortable that I didn't know if I want to finish the story. I did finish it, but I don't know why I punished myself so. The whole pull and push between them didn't feel right, I like it in many stories, but here it was awkward.
This paranormal romance is extremely well written, with a solid plot and heart warming characters! I enjoyed the story and how King Egon and Nerissa come together to find their Happily ever after. If you enjoy paranormal fantasy, then this book is for you!.

This was a fast-paced sexy, sensual, naughty, and steamy read. I love that the hero was a Kraken. I only ever saw these creatures as evil ugly monsters in the movies. I'm glad that King Egon and Nerissa found they were fated mates. As well as Nerissa finding Egon and finding out about her special magical family history. This is a book I will definitely read again.
Ya so this is just tentacle p*rn with an unhealthy Dd/lg kink. And I say that as someone who reads Dd/lg books. This is... Not that. This is not okay.
“Stop fighting me. Papa is going to make his little girl a real woman today. You want that, don’t you? You want to be a big girl who knows how to satisfy her papa and king?”
Absolutely not. No. Stop it.
Anyways it doesn't really fit with the rest of the series which are, for better or worse, actually books and this is just a Wattpad short story you would skip through to get to the tentacle p*rn.
• Story 📖📖📖 • Characters 👥👥👥 • Drama/angst 😰😰 • Steam: 🔥🔥 • POV Dual • HEA? ✔ • Reread? Maybe! • Epilogue? ✔ (not long after last chapter) • Tropes/ Triggers: BIG age-gap, cross-species, magic, mythical beings, stranded out at sea, hidden genealogy, kind-of DD/lg
Whilst this wasn’t my favorite Matilda Martel book, it was still a good read. The FMC is young and on a singles cruise with her cousins and winds up overboard and lost at sea. The MMC is a mythical kraken, the king of his realm, who has spent hundreds of years waiting for his fated mate.
I found the whole mythology of her absorbing some of his powers because they are mates interesting. There was certainly a lot of drama and some catty women in his kingdom.
I was a little disappointed that the beginning was so slow. It’s a very short book, so just know going in, the first couple chapters are world-building and a smidge slow, but it gets better, so hang in there!
Whilst I think a DD/lg story can be quite 🥵, the “papa” thing felt a bit forced to me, so I wasn’t a huge fan. I was also disappointed at the end that they couldn’t wait a short time for the ceremony, but maybe there’s a reason for that that wasn’t explained. Things do work out overall though for the FMC & MMC and the ending was pretty cute.
Overall, it’s a cute story and worth a read, especially if you’ve read others in the same world!.

If King Triton as a kraken makes you thirstier than a sponge in the sun, then this is the story for you!!
King Egon gives total Daddy kraken vibes taking care of his Babygirl Nerissa in this dual POV, low angst, age gap insta love/lust which is a perfect distraction from real life for an afternoon.
The story is well written, with relatable characters (can't a girl just read a book in peace!) with relatable problems to overcome to find their happily ever after.
The wonderful thing I love about light stories like this, is that there is no pressure for the reader to read something uncomfortable. With this predictable perfection you know exactly what you're getting into, and it always brightens my day no matter my mood.
This is a standalone quick read that is part of the Otherworld Mated to the Monster universe.
I can't wait to read what comes next from Matilda Martel's writing desk.
Nerissa (h19) finds herself unexpectedly swept into an extraordinary adventure that shifts her reality. After joining her cousins on a seemingly typical singles' cruise, her experience takes a mystical turn when she falls overboard and is rescued by Egon (H600), the Kraken king of Mirinthia, a magical underwater kingdom. Egon has awaited his fated mate for centuries and believes Nerissa to be the one destined to rule by his side. As Nerissa adjusts to her new environment, populated by mermaids and other mythical creatures, she learns of her own enigmatic heritage tied to the marine realm. Her connection with Egon deepens and things heat up between the two, as they navigate their bond amidst the complexities of Mirinthian society and the threats posed by an envious half-siren infatuated with Egon. Hot and steamy fated mates monster romance exploring destiny, love, and identity, with a little bit of Daddy kink thrown in to spice things up.
Nerissa is on a cruise ship with her cousins. A singles cruise ship But she is so not invested in it. She wants to just relax and be alone. As she walks the deck she hears her name being called. Her cousin is there too keep her from falling over the railing. The next time she's alone and hears her name and the next thing she knows she's in the water. She treats water but is tiring out. Egon is a kraken and the last of his kind. He's waited over 600 years for his fated mate. Then he feels her when he gets close he catches her scent. HIS!! He kisses her to activate her water nymp genes. Now he must get her to stay with him. Will he succeed in winning his mate? A lovely little mermaid type story!!!.

I have been looking forward to this Mated To The Monster story since Matilda posted the first image of it on Instagram. It did not disappoint! The cover is what drew me in but once I started reading the book I just couldn’t put it down. I have yet to read the other Otherworld book, so this was my first introduction to this world. Great world building… can’t wait to read the others! In this book, we have Egon the King of Mirinthia… who has been waiting for centuries for his soul mate. Then we have Nerissa, who has no clue about her ancestry… but it definitely isn’t all human like she had been raised. I highly recommend this book to anyone who had a King Triton crush at any point in their life! …and the Baby Girl moments… OMG!!!
This was such a fun read and I loved the world building for it. The idea of Egon, the King of Mirinthia, being hundreds of years old and the last of his kind, was rather sad for such a hot character ;) Nerissa thought she was just plain ol' human, but after tumbling into the ocean and finding herself in Otherworld and the fated mate of Egon, well, she was surprised as her heritage came through. Expect a hot an steamy monster romance, with a bit of daddy kink, drama and fate to keep you fully glued to your reader until you hit the end. This is a fun addition to the series and I really enjoyed it :D
I loved The Kraken's Kiss Mated to the Monster. Marissa didn’t know she wasn’t a pure human until she fell into the ocean and was rescued by Egon, a Kraken and King. She’s his mate but she’s still trying ti wrap her head around everything. It’s her choice to stay or go back to the human realm, she doesn’t want to give up her independence but she doesn’t want to leave Egon either. Egon will never let her go, he will follow her no matter what. This is a short and sweet story, I loved the characters. I love this Mated to the Monster series. I would definitely recommend this book.

While on a cruise with family, Nerissa finds herself drawn to the sea and falls overboard where Egon finds her. King Egon is the Kraken King of Mirinthia. He had given up on finding his fated mate until he heard Nerissa's calls for help and he instantly knew she was who he was waiting for. This is a paranormal, fated mates romance with a Kraken twist. The writing is well done, the characters are interesting, and the story held my attention from beginning to end. The world building is well done and this is a great addition to the multi-author Mated to the Monster series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Who knew I had a monster kink - I certainly didn’t! But Egon with his long gray hair, beard and multi jointed tentacles caught my attention and wreaked havoc on my overactive romance loving imagination!
𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗞𝗥𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗡'𝗦 𝗞𝗜𝗦𝗦 kept me glued to my kindle as I devoured this fated mates novella set in an aquatic otherworld I found incredibly interesting. I enjoyed this one and can’t wait to see what Matilda comes up with next.
I’m giving 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗞𝗥𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗡'𝗦 𝗞𝗜𝗦𝗦 the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!
A romantic and swoon-worthy read between a Kraken and his fated mate!
Nerissa’s fate unbeknown to her had always been to meet her fated mate and be Queen at her mates side but being thrown into a world she didn’t understand was taking a while for her to accept the love that would last a lifetime.
Egon would do anything to keep his mate now that he had found her and would show her all the love and romance they would share all their lives to make her believe they were meant to be together forever.

Daddy kink is this book. 600 year old to a 19 year old. That is definitely a daddy type kink. Lol King Egon of magical underwater kingdom of Krakens. He had waited a long long long lol time for his mate. She is finally here after falling overboard. Nerissa is on a single cruise with her cousin. She is swept overboard and finds her life altered. She also discovers a secret about her family tree while navigating her new life underwater. While doing all that Egon and Nerissa have a steamy relationship going on.
I checked, but I found no warning about a certain kink. I've never read about that kind of thing before, and I really don't like it. So, I'm deducting a star for that. Additionally, I didn't find their story interesting at all. - One Star again. All conflicts were easily resolved. Another reviewer mentioned that there was no reason why she took so long to accept him. I think it had to do with the odd reason that she "maybe" could never go home again. There was no explanation provided, or I missed it. So, minus one more star.
Overall, it's readable, but nothing memorable. But also not bad.
Egon was a kraken and king. He had been waiting 600 years to find his mate. Nerissa grew up in the human world and had no idea she was half water nymph. While on a cruise with her cousins the water called to her and she fell overboard. Egon came to her rescue, he knew she was his mate but now had to convince her and explain a whole new world. Sweet, steamy romance with amazing chemistry, a little daddy kink, true love and a wonderful HEA.

This book is part of a multi authors series called Mated to the Monster. I really enjoyed this book. I loved Nerissa and Egon. It was a fun read. In this book it talks about Nerissa's friend Amara. Her book is called Revamp which I recommend reading. This was a fast paced book perfect if you have little time to read.

The Kraken's Kiss is Nerissa and Egon's HEA. Nerissa is swept into a parallel dimension in which she is saved by a creature that shouldn't exist. King Egon has accepted the grim reality of his species extinction. Until the cry of his mate brings them together, and forever changes both their lives. It was fun and unique with tentacle spice🥵.

Who knew falling off a cruise ship gets a HEA and a crown
Dragged on a singles cruise Nerissa seems ready to hide in her room rather than mingle. When she heard her name being called she falls overboard only to be found swimming with orcas and fish by the kraken. She learns of her mysterious like to the sea and is embraced by things eventually. Mom has some explaining to do. Egon is handsome and regal but the 'baby girl' / ‘papa’ talk gets creepy quickly.
I was fine with this until she called him Papa . I usually quite like Daddy Dom books and use of the term daddy or other honorifics, but this idk it just gave me the ick. Maybe also because she was barely 19 , age usually doesnt matter much to me when its paranormal , but he just seemed to like that he was so much older like there wasn't balance in the relationship. I also feel like the whole story was pretty underdeveloped. But the book has great potential.
A great addition to the Mated to a Monster series which introduces the reader to a whole new world. Our hero is so sweet and caring while our heroine is strong and knows her own mind. The storyline is engaging and the heat is high.

I loved this was a quick hot and spicy read that you can read in one sitting.as last of his kind, He has been waiting for a long time for his fated and he was never going to let her go. A daddy don kraken and his baby girl. Could not get enough of this maybe we will get lucky and another book.

This was a cute fated mates romance. It was a short story with a good pace. The storyline was entertaining but I did feel like the beginning was a bit too slow paced, and I would have preferred to have more interaction between Nerissa and Egon. They had good chemistry and I liked them together.

There wasn't much conflict here except that the main male character had to patiently wait for the female character to decide whether she would stay or not. However, she didn't need too much convincing. I enjoyed the overall concept of the story, but there were some things that just didn't sit right with me.

My dislike for this book can be summed up with one word: “papa”. So, so gross and overused in this book. The “daddy” fantasy is not one I’m into, but if that’s your kink, you do you. Really too short for any character development, but it gets a star for interesting world building.
Nerissa is on a cruise with her cousins when she falls overboard. Fortunately, she’s rescued by Nero, who has been waiting for his fated mate for 600 years. Once Nerissa got over her confusion and panic, I loved how playful her relationship with Nero became. These two were very sweet together - a great quick read.
Loved this book!. Finally a Kraken gets a sexy story. Loved Papa Egon and Baby Girl Nerissas' heat. I just needed one more chapter to tie things up before the epilogue and a conversation between Nerissa and her momma after that Amazing revelation. I had soo many questions for mom!! LOL Love Ms Matilda and her books
i was expecting a steamy monster romance and i guess i got it, i just wasnt expecting so much Ddlg content, the papa thing was weird and the no doesnt always mean no comment right before a spicy scene with no discussion before hand about limits and boundaries grossed me out. at least he gave her a safe word
