O PROFETA - BOX DO SAGRADO AO POÉTICO DE KHALIL GIBRAN

Rate this book

read the last thirty pages of this in a silent pew at grace church, in wait for my dearest friends, which feels close to the spirit of this book. this is not a poem as much as it is a way of living and encountering the world. may I spend every hour consciously or unconsciously attending to this form of divinity, beauty, prayer, community

I don't want to review this book, I will just cite my favorite part of it:

"Love possesses not nor would it be possessed; for love is sufficient unto love.

Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.

But if you love and must need have desires, let these be your desires:

To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.

To know the pain of too much tenderness.

To be wounded by your own understanding of love; and to bleed willingly and joyfully.

To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;

To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstacy;

To return home at eventide with gratitude;

And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips."

“That which seems most feeble and bewildered in you is the strongest and most determined.
Is it not your breath that has erected and hardened the structure of your bones?
…Could you but see the tides of that breath, you would cease to see all else…”

This is exactly what I needed to read at this juncture of life.

📍 “You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.”
📍 “Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.”
📍 “In the sweetness of friendship, let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.”
📍 “The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.”
📍 “Let there be spaces in your togetherness, and let the winds of the heavens dance between you.”

I absolutely loved the simplicity but depth of The Prophet! This book is so eye-opening that I couldn’t stop myself from reading it twice in a row to truly grasp its profound wisdom. It’s one of those rare books that makes you pause, reflect, and grow. From topics like love, pain, work, and freedom, Khalil Gibran’s poetic brilliance offers timeless lessons that touch the heart.

This isn’t just a book; it’s a spiritual companion that inspires self-reflection and guides you toward a more meaningful life. The quotes alone are a treasure trove of wisdom, and the themes resonate deeply with anyone seeking peace and personal growth. I’m so glad I read this—it’s such a cool and life-changing book!
Highly recommended for anyone on a journey of self-discovery or looking to nurture their soul. This one’s a must-read and definitely a book I’ll revisit time and time again.

What a generous book. It reads like a dream. Like a whisper of the heart, not quite clear, yet penetrating still.
