Is it wrong for me to want the world to know I’m in love with Patrick Griffin and have been since we were eight-years-old?

Patrick Griffin

I hurt him. I didn’t mean to.

Now he’s gone, and I deserve it.

As a linebacker in the NFL, I've never found the right time to come out of the closet. Not even when I promised Cole I would.

But now, with Cole's band, Fallen Angel, in the spotlight along with my team, the pressure is mounting. Everyone thinks we're just best friends, but the weight of my secret is tearing us apart.

And it just might be too late to save us when I can.

Cole Bradley

Is it wrong for me to want the world to know I’m in love with Patrick Griffin and have been since we were eight-years-old?

He is the love of my life, but it’s been years of waiting and excuses.

All our friends, even his teammates, have a public life. So why can’t we?

He promised it would be different in Portland.

But then he tells yet another reporter he’s single. I need a break. It’s perfect timing since our band is heading out on tour.

I don’t know if I can live without him. But I don’t think I can do forever in the closet.

It’s always been Patrick for me, but is it too much to ask for the world to know he’s mine too?

The Linebacker is a sweet friends-to-lovers romance with elements of a second-chance romance. I enjoyed having an already established couple but was so sad about their inability to have a public relationship due to Patrick's fears. The reasons for this resistance are heartbreaking and completely realistic given the circumstances, which are not revealed until much later in their story.

Together they go on quite a journey for their HEA. I was afraid of the possible amnesia trope, but thankfully Patrick's accident did not alter his memories but made him more direct with his thoughts and feelings.

Overall I loved getting their story. It was sweet, emotional, and very rewarding watching their relationship heal and move forward allowing both to finally have the relationship they always wanted without any fears standing in their way.

"Thanks for not giving up on me."

"Never, not even when it felt like it."

Cole and Patrick's book was an epic love story that spans a lifetime. If ever there were two people meant for one another, it would be them. They loved each other so fiercely that even when it hurt, their hearts continued to be devoted. The fact that these two love one another is never in question. What is in question is whether that love is enough.

"You'd think after twenty-five years together, we'd have our shit worked out."

I truly felt for Cole in this book. I mean I felt for Patrick too, but it was Cole who made the brave, yet gutwrenching choice to leave. I can't imagine how hard it was for him to have to hide how he feels for the man he loves for that many years. Watching their friends all get to have what he desperately wants with Patrick. It was heartbreaking.

"Living in the closet was the price for our fame, and right now, it didn't feel like the sacrifice had been worth it."

We do eventually find out Patrick's reasons behind his intense fear of coming out. And I want to thank the author for their portrayal of mental health rep. It was integral to their story and shed light on the stigma of those who seek help. I was so happy when Patrick and Cole finally worked out their issues. For all they went through, their monumental HEA was definitely worth it.

"He loved me, and I loved him. Fuck what anyone else thought about it or us."

This author duet has been one of my favourites since I read The Package Deal series, meeting Cole and Patrick back then was so beautiful and also knowing they would be getting their story soon. The authors have done justice to their story and I enjoyed every second of it.

Cole and Patrick have been best friends and boyfriends for more than twenty years and have been inseparable since then and also deep in the closet. If you read The Rockstar, you might know there was a bit of tension in Cole's and Patrick's relationship and Cole had left their place. Their relationship was already on a rocky path when Patrick was met in an accident. The authors have perfectly written the emotions of Cole and his guilt of pushing Patrick away. My heart hurt for both of them but I was so proud of Patrick for trying to do the right thing and not letting Cole go away.

Cole and Patrick had amazing chemistry, you could tell they had been together for years by how they could read each other so well, the authors had done an amazing job writing them. The cameos of the characters of The Package Deal series were so freaking amazing, I love how they were there to support Cole and Patrick gah I love them so much. Cole's parents, Adam and Michael were also amazing characters and I enjoyed their interactions.

Overall, I loved this book and highly recommend you check it out, also Greer and Daredevil are next gah this was so unexpected and I am so excited.

* I received an ARC copy from the author and this is my honest review *

I'm in love with these guys, the Portland Pirates and their partners and the guys at EHM Security. The authors created such a wonderful found family and I'm never tired to read their books.
I knew this story would have been more angsty than the others and that, like Ineligible Receiver, it would have made me cry a lot. And it did.
Cole and Patrick's relationship was a beautiful love story but also secret one, they never could claim each other in front of the media and the fans, they never could freely share their success out in the open because Patrick keeps breaking his promise to be out and after 16 years of this, Cole is done, he can't keep going on.
There are a lot of tears, emotional moments and heartbreak and while I was reading, I couldn't stop thinking, why Patrick doesn't want to come out? Doesn't he see he's hurting his man by refusing to acknoledge him publicly?
I wasn't expecting his real motivation, honestly, and the more I read the more all became clear. The authors handled it very well. Patrick's journey to be his true self and let go of his fears is long and painful and it almost cost him everything. But a beautiful HEA is waiting for him and Cole.

Seeing all the guys is always a blast and I know it can be confusing to readers who haven't read the previous books and don't know all the characters, but I believe that having them always into each others' books, meddling, supporting, helping, it's what actually makes this a very amazing series.

I'm sure the next story will be explosive because the MCs involved don't exactly have a sweet connection. I think we''ll see fireworks and I can't wait!

I received an ARC of this book from the authors and this is my honest review.

These authors are not improving. Spelling errors, repetitions, missing sentences, bad syntax, too many characters... And don't get me started on the story... The person you are with for 25 years (yes, twenty five) doesn't know why you don't want to come out. All your friends are gay, and you live with your "best friend", who is supposedly a rock star, for years, but there are rumors?! Rumors, yeah. You are in a car crash with brain damage and broken bones, but are surprised that you're not playing professional football this year?! Both are public figures, but barely anybody bothers them for anything... The sex is not sexy, the math is not mathing, the love is put to words, but not visible in actions. Blah.

This story was heartbreakingly beautiful.
Being in love with your best friend and together for years only to be disregarded in the worst way, it hurts.

I absolutely loved Cole & Patrick.
Their dynamic throughout the book was so on point with each other that it was easy to tell that they truly were it for one another, if only it weren't for the coming out.
Cole & Patrick's lives have always been entwined together and when a wrench is thrown into it, it threatened to derail them in a way that was almost unfathomable. That saying is always there "you never know what you have until it's gone" rang true in this book.

There was a lot that I loved about this book, lots of positives.
We love versatility.. so yummy!
Overload of emotions & feelings
Banter all around them but especially between the two of them
The found family vibes that just sit right and make everything click in place.

Patrick's hang up had me in tears and I just got it. That kind of hurt gets deep seated and is hard to let go if at all. Understanding flooded me in that moment and I got him on a deeper level, the protectiveness all made sense.

I laughed, I cried, I smiled so much while reading. This is one of those books that will absolutely wreck you then slowly but surely put you back together again.
Truly a great story that I will remember and I cannot wait to get more from this group.

Patrick and Cole... I have been waiting for you two forever. I'm proud of every book I have a chance to work on, but this one holds one of the most special places in my heart. It took a lot of begging and pleading, but I got my way and The Linebacker came before The Billionaire (and trust me, you're going to love that one, too). Patrick and Cole's beautiful, heartbreaking, and romantic story needed to be told as the second book in this series. For lovers of the Package Deal series, you'll understand how desperate the need for their saga truly was. If you haven't read all of this duo's co-writes, I highly suggest doing it now.

This is such a mixture of the rock star athlete trope. This book is a wonderful classic love story. Two mcs who were friends since they were seven to grow up to be successful adults with a promising career. Unfortunately a tragic accident robs the linebacker from his career. But he becomes a different person after the accident. But Cole will never stop loving him. The events in their lives stopped one of them from coming out. Eventually they both came out. It was a powerful story about tragedy and the resilience of two people who have always loved one another.

What I thought could have played a bigger role in this story was the player who was kicked off the team for his homophobic behavior. It just seemed very placed in the story but never really made it's way back to the story. I guess I was waiting for this character to resurface but never did. It was what I think is a list opportunity.

I was so afraid to read this book, thinking that it would be heartbreaking. Well, it was heartbreaking, but not in the way I feared. Cole and Patrick have been best friends since grade school and later a couple. But they’ve never been able to come out in public due to Patrick’s fears. Cole has been patient. But when Patrick is traded to the Pirates (a very inclusive team) and he still isn’t willing to claim Cole, he starts to fear that Patrick won’t ever be ready. The heartbreaking part is the pain they both experience when Cole goes on tour by himself and isn’t sure he can continue their relationship the way it is. An accident changes everything. They realize how close they’ve come to losing each other and even though there are issues they have to work through, their love is stronger than ever. You really get a feel for their history and I adored them as a couple. The ending is absolutely perfect.

I was just bored,
The whole story between them was just ghostly and dramatic for no reason.
Also how much they cry during the book! People cry less when someone dies!
Another thing that bothered me, and it repeats itself in many books, is the amount of gay couples around, diversify a bit, it doesn't make sense that everyone is gay.
To summarize, I did not finish the book and do not recommend it.

THE LINEBACKER is the second book in the Portland Protectors – EHM Security series and the 11th book in The Package Deal World. It's best read in the order that the authors intended to get the full impact of these characters’ relationship. If not the ten before, at least read THE ROCKSTAR, the first book in this series. Regardless, it cannot be read as a standalone.

Patrick and Cole have been best friends since they were seven years old. They've been in a relationship that only a select few knew about since they were fifteen. Twenty-five years later, not many more people know about them being in a romantic relationship. Publicly, they are just best friends that spend all their time together and live together. Patrick is a linebacker with the Protectors, a very accepting football organization of loving who you want, but something is still holding Patrick deep in the closet. Cole is out as a bisexual man in the band Fallen Angel. So they are both in the spotlight and have millions of people watching them.

Cole is ready, overly ready, to let the world know that Patrick is so much more to him than just a friend but Patrick, thinking coming to Portland would help his coming out, still isn't ready. Cole can't live like this anymore and basically says that to Patrick. Cole is the love of Patrick's life, and he hates to hurt him, but he isn't sure this is something he can do for him, or them.

Their story to get to their happily ever after was such an emotional rollercoaster. They fought so hard to be with each other. I can say there were more than a few tears reading this one. What my favorite part about this world is, is seeing all the characters that I have grown to love so much appear again and again. It makes it like you are catching up with old friends, seeing their lives progress book after book. I can't wait for Daredevil and Mr. Greer! There's a combination I didn't see coming but now that I've read just a touch of them, I am here for it!!

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the second book in the series – and if you have enjoyed Emerson Beckett's earlier books, you will also find some delicious crossovers which have you catching up with old friends.

This is a great mix of sports and rock star romance, between two childhood friends who have never really been apart, but also never formally together – for one it is getting old, and the excuses are getting thinner, for the other, the scars from his past and fear of the attitude of his peers makes it the only way forward... until there could be no forward.

I thought that the issues were dealt with really well, and made clear just how much is inner monologue that makes one believe the worst... often after a life of reinforcement from the world at large, or someone in particular. But when life really is at risk, and one's whole identity, then things get clearer – even if it is terribly painful along the way. I enjoy a good dose of angst, so I really enjoyed it, but really only because I was confident that these two people would find their way back together. Their connection, their banter, their love, and their passion had to be enough!

One of those books it is difficult to put down, because it is impossible not to be invested in the happily ever after that one believes has to be coming... after just one more page turn!

The Linebacker is the second book in the Portland Protectors - EHM Security series and is the eleventh book in the Package Deal World.
I think it is essential to read book one in this series, The Rockstar, and would also highly recommend reading the Package Deal series as well.

Cole and Patrick have been in a relationship for about seventeen years and were friends for roughly eight years before that. Cole is in a famous rockstar band and Patrick plays professional football (NFL). Their friendship and love is highlighted throughout the book.

I really liked that this book started from present day (this is why you should read the Rockstar before). To clarify, besides one flashback, which doesn’t tell us a lot, we don’t see or learn much about their relationship before present day. I liked this because while we don’t see them before, we do feel the connection and love between them straight away. Beckett and Richmond do a good job at making us feel like we have always been a part of their relationship.

We see from Chapter 1, that Patrick and Cole’s relationship is starting to break down. Cole isn’t happy that they’ve been together for so long and he still doesn’t know why Patrick won’t come out of the closet, we as the reader, do also not find out until much later on in the book. I guessed it was something similar to what happened and wasn’t frustrated at either Patrick or Cole. I saw both their sides and felt like they were both valid.

The heartbreak that was in the first couple of chapters was truly devastating, they have some time apart and other things happen (I don’t want to spoil anything) when Patrick gets into bad car accident. This is really the turning point for their relationship. While they still have a lot of issues to work through, both existing from before accident and new ones after, they learn that they love each other so much they can work out anything and will fight for each other.

The plot was simple and I thought that was good as it allowed Cole and Patrick’s emotions to really shine. I immediately felt the angst and had tears in my eyes from the first couple of pages. By the plot being simple it also meant that nothing was unnecessary and everything that was in the book had a purpose. There was only one tiny thing that bothered me.

What really stood out to me was the found family - all the characters were so supportive and true friends to Cole and Patrick.
Patrick’s journey felt authentic, it wasn’t rushed and felt right for him. I was wondering why this was part of the EHM Security series but it gets answered …

Greer and Daredevil are next and this surprised me as I didn’t expect for them to get together. I’m looking forward to finding out what will happen between them.

Overall, this was a good read but not one I loved.

This is the 2nd book in the EHM Security Series. While there is an over reaching arc for the series, each book can be read independently. This is the story of Patrick and Cole. These two were best friends since the age of seven. All their choices related to school and life have been made so that they were together. Patrick is a professional football player for the Portland Pirates. Cole is a famous rock star. The two are always together under the guise of being "best friends". But in reality, they are deeply in love. When Patrick signed with the Portland Pirates, things were supposed to change. He moved to the LGBTQ friendly team to ease his coming out and being in love with Cole. But the move happened but the coming out didn't. In fact, there was no date set for Patrick coming out and Cole just couldn't take it any longer. They would always be best friends, but Cole couldn't continue to live in the closet. He wanted the world to know the wonderful man he was in love with. He wanted to be able to touch Patrick in public. All the things that their friend group were doing with their significant others. When he tells Patrick that he needs some time away to think. That he can't stand being in the closet anymore. Patrick begs him to reconsider but he doesn't explain why he can't come out. He just says he can't. While being in love is never in doubt, sometimes it just isn't enough. This is their story. It is well written and easy to read. They are a force to be reckoned with when they work together. The only thing that I find that bothered me was that Patrick never told Cole why he couldn't come out. With two people who have known each other since the age of seven and been together for 25 years; I couldn't accept that he was too afraid to tell Cole why. They had a trusting and loving relationship. So the reasoning behind why he couldn't just didn't seem plausible to me. In spite of that, I enjoyed this book. They were a great couple who had to work hard for their HEA. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

“I love you so much and I’m so sorry…”

“…love was never the problem.”

Oh the feels! My heart broke for both of them at different points. They loved each other so much and wanted nothing more than to live happily ever after but Cole had had enough. If you read Adam and Michael’s story in ‘The Rockstar’, the cracks in their relationship were already beginning to show and Cole had moved out by the end of the book.

‘The Linebacker’ starts right in the middle of their relationship troubles and pulls no punches on showing how much Cole has begun to resent his public status as nothing more than best friend and roommate. They’ve been friends since they were 7, dating since they were 15 years old and they’re now 32. Cole wants to live openly and proudly like all their friends in same sex relationships around them are. Patrick is terrified to come out and because he never explained why to Cole for him to understand and empathise, it became a huge issue between them as he kept promising Cole he would and then reneging.

A horrific car accident brings them back into each other’s orbits and allows them time away from Cole’s rock tour and Patrick’s busy football schedule to really talk and figure out how to get back on track together. While I find it kind of hard to believe that Cole had zero idea of the issue that was plaguing Patrick all this time, I was able to accept it because once revealed I can see how it would really truly affect him so deeply. There were times where I wanted to bang their heads together as they were both hearing the other but not really listening. There’s still some steam, and some fun light moments, but this story is more a heartfelt story of 2 men finding their way back to each other and their HEA.

This book brought me to my knees, it is quite angsty but also very loving and Cole and Patrick are going through hell and back for their HEA.

You need to read the connected series - The Package Deal - and especially the first of the EHM series to really understand Cole and Patrick and also to get all the other characters and their situation. Otherwise you are lost in not only whose who but also the background of some of the couples important to this story.

I normally don‘t like second chances/established couples going through a rough spot but as I read all other books I knew I would be in safe hands. Not only does the book only has one real flashback and it‘s therefore written in the here and there, following Patrick‘s accident, it also doesn‘t add drama for the sake of it. There is plenty obviously but it‘s all well done, related to the topics and you see how they all work through it.

Both Cole and Patrick had a lot of discover for themselves, their reason for the situation prior to the accident and also the guilt and worries afterwards. You can see the depth of their love and how comfortable they are in their relationship otherwise.

I love „no filter Patrick“, he is fun and can release the tension but he also is protective and loving. The separation must have been hell for both and I love how each of them only though of how to repair it.

The found family is right there, helping and supporting. I love that the guys all popped up again and the teasers for the next book sound great, that may be a quite explosive one.

My only negative point is Patrick‘s future, it just feels odd.

When we were given a teaser of what happened between these two at the end of The Rockstar I knew I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. As soon as it hit my Kindle, I dropped everything to read it. And it did not disappoint.

My heart broke when Cole had to make the decision to walk away. I understood why, what drove him to do something that would hurt them both so much, but it wasn't easy. It was important, though, because it finally made Patrick address his choices and what he wanted going forward.

OK, so I did have to suspend belief just a little bit that Cole didn't know why Patrick was so hesitant to come out. That being as close as they were for as long as they were, he didn't know what happened. But once I let that go, I could appreciate the way that they addressed it and worked to move past it. There were serious considerations given to handling it in a healthy manner.

There are a lot of feels here, think big angst, which was to be expected. These two obviously love each other but sometimes that's just not enough. And working their way back to a place where they can be together wasn't going to be a quick fix. My hearts ached along with theirs as they face an uncertain future. And lifted when they finally found their way to a HEA.

While you can read this as a stand alone, it is probably better to have read the other books. There are a lot of couples amongst these friends and none of them had an easy path to their HEA :)

Patrick Griffin is a linebacker in the NFL, I've never found the right time to come out of the closet. Not even when I promised Cole I would. But now, with Cole's band, Fallen Angel, in the spotlight along with my team, the pressure is mounting. Everyone thinks we're just best friends, but the weight of my secret is tearing us apart. Cole Bradley wants the world to know he's in love with Patrick Griffin and has been since they were eight years old. Patrick is the love of his life, but it’s been years of waiting and excuses. All our friends, even his teammates, have a public life. So why can’t we? He promised it would be different in Portland. But then he tells yet another reporter he’s single. Cole needs a break. It’s perfect timing since our band is heading out on tour. Cole doesn’t know if he can live without him. But he doesn’t think he can do forever in the closet. It’s always been Patrick for me, but is it too much to ask for the world to know he’s Cole's too?

I loved this story with all of the angst and drama between the two men which came to a point of almost no return after a devastating car accident. This is a tear-jerker of a story as we live through their emotions and concerns and wonder if they can find a way to be together in the future considering they have loved each other since they were eight. Easy to read, feel and understand this will take you on a rollercoaster ride through their emotions. This was an MM story with mature content.

Well, that put me through the wringer!!

So much upheaval for this couple who have been dating in secret for such a long time. Cole’s desire to come out and the need to reevaluate their relationship is understandable, and you will support him. But you will also feel the heartbreak of that.

But gah, you will also feel Patrick’s heartbreak. It’s clear he wants to come out, but freezes every time the option is there. And you finally learn the reason why, damn it, get the tissues. You will forgive him.

Seriously, even when separated it’s clear the love is strong. It’s clear neither of them really wants to be apart. But sometimes it takes something major to spark the change needed.

There is so much going on, so many emotions, that it kept me glued to the page. I needed to know why, and then how they find their way back to one another.

I would recommend reading it for unfiltered Patrick alone, but the whole story is engaging and beautiful. There’s also a pretty epic epilogue! And of course, the rest of the Pirates & EHM family are around in their constant chaotic love.

I wanted to read this book after reading, "We Could Do This Tonight", another great story by these two wonderful authors. I am happy we didn't have to wait long to get Cole and Patrick's story... and man, was it worth the wait.

Cole and Patrick have been attached at the hip since they met at age 7 in elementary school. By their teenage years, they realized their friendship was more and have been in a relationship ship since. However, both have careers that is viewed in the public eye, with Patrick being an NFL Linebacker and Cole being the lead singer of a famous band. The decision to stay in the closet made sense when they decided to as they were growing their careers. However, as their careers took off, it was getting harder and harder for Cole to keep his love for Patrick bottled up. When he gave Patrick an ultimatum, their relationship takes a turn and it takes the rest of the story for them to figure out what they want next.

Heartbreaking, breathtaking, tragic, and full of revelations between both characters, this story leaves your emotional heart full. Have tissues nearby, because you are going to need them. Great story, and happy I got to know these characters more. Can't wait to read the next book, as this book gave hints of what's to come.

I received an ARC copy of this book from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Cole the rockstar, is desperately in love with Patrick the football player, but it’s just not enough anymore. They had been friends (and later, more) since they were kids. Patrick is afraid if he comes out he will lose his career. Cole, fed up with the situation, decides he just can’t handle the misery anymore and leaves on his tour, knowing that will probably make him more miserable but he has to do something different, even if it’s wrong.

This story is dripping angst. Both Cole and Patrick carry around a lot of guilt about their relationship. Although they talk about it a lot there is never a resolution just more pain. Neither able to accept the other’s reasoning.

I liked the way the mental health care was handled and how Patrick’s therapy helped him deal with issues he didn’t understand.

This is another book with a very large cast of colorful characters. I’m not sure all their input was that helpful (but it was usually humorous). I think it would add depth to the story to have read what came before. The next pairing in the series seem like it should prove interesting.

This story talks about the fears that some people must face, whether they are real or created by oneself. It talks about how to trust yourself again and how to finally ask for help to be able to face them. It also talks about the unbreakable love that two people can feel for each other, and how when that love is more real and stronger than the fears that can paralyze for a long time, it is finally what makes you able to fly free.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it's hard to believe that after knowing each other for 25 years (they have been friends since they were 8 and have been a couple for over a decade) one of the MCs still doesn't know why he another does not dare to come out of the closet. How for so many years did he not know what happened in his family for him to feel that fear and deny himself and their relationship in public, being as close as they have been and still are?

Despite that, I liked the story, I am a fan of this series and the previous ones, so I even enjoyed the cameos from previous books of the other interconnected series even more. Waiting for the next one!

I was given an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Patrick and Cole ❤️

4.5 Stars ⭐️

These two, OMG!!! I have anxiously anticipated this story since they both were introduced in Key West and my heart broke for these two. My heart especially broke for Cole, When you love someone your whole life, with your whole heart and that's just not enough.....your faced with the choice to stay or break the very foundation of you're being 😭. Patrick, oh Patrick the secret you kept out of love only made things more difficult. Some decisions are not the best but when faced with the alternative they seem like the only choice to make. Without going into too many details of this read, let's just say it was therapeutic yet tragic. This was so much more than a timeless best friends love story, it was a story of epic emotion, heartache, healing, support and a found family filled with all of (previously read) wonderful characters that make me happy every time they are on page. I loved this book, I adore this series and I am all about the Package deal series as well, I am so ready for Greer and Dare-devil 🔥🧨🔥.

A nice addition to this series.

This was a very good best friends-to-lovers romance with a bit of a second chance feel. It also deals with coming out and emotional trauma from a relative's death that happened in the past. Cole and Patrick have been best friends since they were very young and later, they became lovers.

I truly felt the connection between Cole and Patrick while I read this book. The anguish that Cole had over leaving Patrick was very visceral as was Patrick's regarding his inability to come out like Cole wanted. Unlike the previous book in this series, I didn't feel like there was an excess of sexy time nor was there an overabundance of cutesy nicknames.

The only thing that puzzled me a bit was that nothing more came of a secondary character's bad actions. Clay made several threats and I thought that something more would surely come of that in this story. Perhaps there is more planned for that in a later book.

I'm really looking forward to reading Greer and Daredevil's story which should be coming in early summer.

A copy of this book was provided to me at my request and my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

I think this might be a 'me' thing, but I didn't love this. It wasn't horrible, but the story itself was pretty contrived and even boring at times. Plus, I just didn't like the way the author(s) approached some of it.

I did like the premise, and I though the characters themselves were fairly interesting. But that's pretty much where it ended. What bugged me:

So yeah, I don't know that I'll try any others from this series.

4 Stars!

Having read Rockstar, I knew this one might be tough to read, but it went in a direction I wasn't expecting. I'm glad that their friends rallied around them and supported them throughout the book.

I was glad to see Patrick find someone to work through his issues, but I wish he could have taken that step earlier. The changes in Patrick definitely made for some adjustments for them both, but I'm glad that they both accepted it and worked on what was more important. I'm glad they had so many people in their corner helping them both. Their love for each other was beautiful and had so much history. Their journey and healing on multiple levels were good to see and made them so much stronger than before. They were two halves of a whole, and I'm glad they found the happiness they have both been needing.

I can't wait for the next book; Greer and Daredevil definitely have some interesting sparks going on and their story looks like it's going to be quite the ride!

I don’t know I just didn’t feel connected to Patrick or Cole at all. That’s probably my fault to be honest as I didn’t read any of the previous books that were recommended. I could definitely tell that it was angsty but I didn’t feel anything whilst reading it. I do wish we got more of their relationship from the past because being in a relationship for 25 years is a long time (hiding it from the public all that time too) rather than just being told that it was becoming strained because of the hiding. Once again I’m aware that there may have been scenes in the previous books of their relationship but I still think having it in their own would’ve worked better. I kind of just rushed through this once I was 100 pages in as that’s when I realised I wasn’t connected to the characters. I did also find the getting married bit in the epilogue corny but you know. The writing was hard to get through too.

Oh and one more thing, having so many different characters was so confusing that I ended up just giving up trying to understand who was who.
