James should be dead by now. Instead, he is jolted awake by the crack of gunfire and the echo of screams through his neighborhood. People are killing people, tearing at flesh, eating each other alive.
Survivors barricade the bridge to town, and move from their houses to a mobile home sales lot along the main road. Few dare cross the barricades, only venturing outside for badly needed supplies.
But as the food supply runs dry, and the town waits for signs of life from the outside, James feels something inside him, a familiar enemy that appeared long before all this began.
As it grows, James must venture beyond the barricades and into the city for answers. But what if the cure for his sickness is infinitely more terrifying and painful than the sickness itself?
good story line but can be confusing. The story in it self is really good. The main character is well defined but minor characters are a bit lacking. As for the direction the story goes it does get a bit confusing jumping from real time story to dream time story. At first it was hard to tell who the main character was until you really get into the story. This story is a bit strange though as the zombies are not all mindless drones just out for flesh and blood. Can be gory at times but that is about all would reccomend for ages 12 and up due to violence only.
The zombie origin story in this one was interesting, even if pretty convoluted. The analogies were vivid but a little heavy handed and more than a little gross in some spots. I'm all for gore in zombie stories but some of the descriptions of some of the more human aspects were just disgusting. I would have liked a more about why the killing relieved the pain. I didn't understand. There was quite a bit about this story that needed more explanation.
