This book goes behind the scenes to pinpoint what works for the U.S. Marine Corps, showing you how to create a training and management culture that brings out the best in all your employees.
For more than 200 years, the U.S. Marine Corps has been a paragon of world-class leadership, excelling in the areas of motivation, training, and management. Semper Fi -- which since its publication has become a best-selling, business leadership classic -- shows you how to adapt these proven practices for your own organizations.
The book gives you tough, practical tips

Semper Fi is a book you will actually use, read, and refer to again and again.
I finished Semper Fi, Business Leadership the Marine Corps Way, by Dan Carrison & Rod Walsh today. I liked this book and would recommend it. It was a pretty easy read for me, because the writes thinking, and mine, are close on so many topics. Reading this book, I could see there was a recruiter influence in this book. I, in a way do want to be part of their team, and the kind of leadership in this book. The phrase, Semper Fi, always faithful, it is so important for so many aspects of life. I think I should list some of the places where it fits. Semper Fi
• Always faithful to the higher power and its creation. • Always faithful to my, mind, body, and soul. • Always faithful to my significant other, who makes me whole. • Always faithful to my family, by blood or by choice. • Always faithful in helping my country, be all that it can be to serve, and protect its people. • Always faithful to my business, and the components in that business, that provides a needed service.
"Semper Fi" which was published in 2005 reads like an updated and expanded version of "Corps Business" which was printed in 1999. This book doesn't sugarcoat life through basic training and gives you first hand experience from CEOs that served in the Corps once they entered the workforce. Like "Corps Business", I read this book cover to cover years ago but I still keep it as a reference.
interesting perspective on Marine HR and culture. a few nuggets around hr policy and recruitment specially. book is starting to show is age in the chapter about female marines, but overall an interesting and light read.
I usually find no value in business leadership books, but this one makes complete sense and has so many applicable ideas which I can apply to what I am doing right now. Also a fascinating insight into how the USMC does things, written by guys who have been there and done it. Will certainly re-read.
An excellent book detailing how the US Marines superbly deal with, manage & overcome the organizational hurdles that face every institution.
If anything, the glaring success of the non-politically-correct, non-equivocating, and even brutally even-handed non-fairness of the USMC organization... versus the real-world observed, and even the recommended pussy-footing around in civilian H.R.-constrained commerce... is actually a bit of a downer. In reading this, the Marines success puts a great spotlight on the civilian soft-handed institutional failure.
Bottom line; An *EXCELLENT* read... if a little depressing as it applies to the civilian world.
This is a must read for entrepreneurs in America. How do yo deal with almost 80% employee turn-over without going out of business? "Semper Fi" has the answer to this and 27 other questions you have yet to comprehend face you and your business.
This is an excellent examination of the management tools employed within the modern Marine Corps. Also a useful guide to help corporations understand the opportunity to implement winning strategy into their management practices in order to build an elite team of employees and managers.
Excellent book. If you are a Marine (current or former) you will be nodding your head up and down the entire time you are reading this book. So much so you cant put it down.
