Personal reaction:
There are three books in this one section so I am counting this as all three and will talk about all three and my personal reactions. I really enjoyed all of these books a lot. They are very good at helping guiding lessons and such. The "Pete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons" book is very cool in the way that it was illustrated. As a matter of fact, all three of these books did a wonderful job at the illustrations. They are also easy reads so I would do these read alouds at a younger class grade. These books are very easy going and make you genuinely smile. I love all three of these books because they are so cute and helpful in lesson plans.
Purpose:
Pete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons- this would be a great read aloud for kindergartners and 1st graders who are learning basic math! I would use this in a math lesson because on each page that Pete the Cat loses a button it counts the number of buttons he has left. and writes the number out in words, put the actual number one the page, give you a basic math problem to show you how many are left and visually shows you how many buttons are left. EX: (there are three buttons left) Three, 3, 4-1=3, and a picture of three buttons.
Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes- This book is for kindergarten and first grade students and would be a great read aloud for an art lesson. It would also be a great read aloud because there is a song and everyone could sing the song together. I would use this for an art lesson because it shows kids colors and make you guess what color is next on the next page!
Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes- This book is also for kindergarten and 1st grade students. I would read this book on the first day of school to ease the students jitters. Pete the Cat is just rocking in his school shoes and not worrying about all the craziness of the first day of school. this would be an awesome read aloud because this one also has a song and we can all sing the song together and feel comfortable.
There is an underlying message that can be brought out from all three of these books sand that is..
TO NOT SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF! this would be great for these two younger grades because they can sometimes have a hard time relaxing and letting small things work them up.

This review is for Pete the Cat and my four groovy buttons. I love Pete the cat, and this book didn't disappoint. This is a fun book, and it teaches children about counting. It has terrific rhyming pattern and the repetition is classic Pete the cat.

Pete the Cat books are always fun! It helps kids with counting. It has a lot of repetition and rhyming.
