Earth Alliance Ship Frontier, Earth's first starship, is ready for launch. First Officer Kenneth McClance, longing to be out of his father's shadow, is determined to be successful as they embark on their maiden voyage. However, as they investigate a mysterious region of space, the ship is thrown across time and space. Ken must face one life-threatening situation after another, facing off against out-of-control robots, dinosaurs, and a power-hungry ruler in attempting to get his crew back to their correct time and place.
I was born and raised in Fremont, and I still live there. I am the youngest of seven children--three brothers, three sisters.
I grew up around science fiction, particularly Star Trek. By 1994, when I was 8, I already had a well developed interest in science fiction, and I started collecting Micro Machine spaceships. With these Micro Machines, I came up with my own Star Trek adventures. A few years later, I decided to write these down. Then, in 1999, while I was broadening by science fiction horizons, I began creating my own Universe. Over the next five years, I wrote a series of 45 short stories and my first novel, all set in that Universe. I first looked into publication in 2001/02, but I was too short (50 pages).
In 2004, I had a sudden, unquenchable interest in dragons. But, I still loved science fiction and continued writing in my Universe. By January 2005, inspired by Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern and getting an idea from an episode of the original Star Trek, I created my own dragon world set in my Universe. And so, Draconia was born.
I started writing this back in 2002. When I finished the first draft, I had set it aside to work on other projects. I was writing a series of short stories at the time, and then I started working on my Draconia books. In 2014, as I prepared Fractured Dream and Rehatching for launch, I dug up this story and started a massive re-write.
In the Draconia books, I introduced readers to my Universe. In Final Frontier, I lay the groundwork and give a glimpse of things that are (hopefully) to come, planting the seeds for future stories.
The last half of the book overlaps with a series that I plan to work on following a fourth Draconia book. Each chapter from 21 is meant to correspond with a specific chapter in that series, each of which will be constructed as a short story/novelette--an episode as it were.
