Olivia Sutton leaves her old life behind to start over in Timber Falls, Colorado. She plans to purchase a local bookstore but instead discovers a dead body and a cat looking pretty raggedy. Of course, the police immediately suspect Olivia of murder, but she’s new in town and has no reason to kill anybody.
Olivia becomes attached to the kitty and helps clean her up. She names her Millie. Things turn a little crazy when Olivia starts to think Millie isn’t an ordinary cat. Perhaps there is some magic involved, but Olivia just thinks she’s losing her mind or becoming too anxious with all the things going on… being accused of murder, not knowing if she can still buy the bookstore…. It’s all getting very complicated.
She has no choice but to find a killer and prove her innocence. Then, she can move on and make a new life for herself. With Millie's help, they conduct their own investigation.
I really enjoyed this one. It’s the first in a new series. Olivia and Millie make a great sleuthing team. I’m always partial to cozies that feature cats, so this one won me over right away.
The storyline moved at a fast pace. I was totally engrossed in it and wasn’t expecting the ending. Being surprised is a bonus for me. I will definitely be continuing with this series. I can’t wait to read more.
I borrowed this one from the Kindle Unlimited library. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Overall super cute and easy read. My only thing is, the reader didn’t even know who the killer was so it wasn’t as suspenseful as it should’ve been, I was hoping it was someone Olivia knew like Meg, or the Chief or maybe even one of the quilting ladies. And with Olivia’s dream about Millie talking to other cat about a mission, we only got a glimpse of that, can Millie actually talk or is that just something we won’t see again? Maybe in the next book? I still liked the book either way

Olivia is looking for a new beginning in a new town after a divorce. She always wanted to own a bookstore and Trudy is selling hers to Olivia. Unfortunately, Trudy is murdered the morning Olivia drives into town to sign papers and exchange money. A cat jumps out in front of Olivia's car as she's looking for Trudy's bookstore and leads her into the alley where Trudy lays murdered.
After being cleared by the police of being responsible for the murder, Olivia is befriended by several nice ladies and keeps the stray cat she decides to name Millie. What's up with this cat? The cat seems to innocently communicate with her a lot!is Olivia turning into a crazy cat lady?
Join in the fun as Olivia and her new friends ,(and, of course, Millie, the cat) team up to solve who killed Trudy!
I just love this new series and Millie the cat! She’s amazing already with the things she’s done and some of the things Olivia saw that seemed unbelievable. Those quilting ladies were such a hoot! I can’t blame Olivia for wanting to hang out with those gals, too much fun! And Meg was a such an awesome friend. I’m not sure which of two handsome guys is supposed to be a possible interest for Olivia, but I sure hope it narrows down to just one since I’m not a fan of triangles at all. Right I realize Olivia’s not even ready for that.
That showdown was too exciting especially when Millie pitched in and helped. I found the next book in series and enjoyed reading the blurb. The only bad thing…it says it releases in July! I hope that’s just a placeholder date, lol.
I have recently discovered this author after reading her Soul Seeker series. This was a great book and I look forward to reading the next one in the series. Unfortunately, it's not available yet!

After her divorce, Olivia Sutton move to a small town in the mountains of northern Colorado where she plans to buy a bookstore. When she arrives 15 min late at the store to complete the purchase, she can't find Trudy, the owner, in the store. A cat she almost hit on the way in leads her into the alley where she finds a body. She learns that it belongs to the owner of bookstore that she was supposed to meet.
The owner of the cafe next door takes Olivia under her wing and introduces her to other locals. Soon Olivia finds herself surrounded by new friends. Meg takes her to a local tavern where she is taken with the handsome owner and his 4 year old daughter.
When the killer is apprehended, after nearly taking Olivia's life, she suspects that the local rich villain put him up to it.

I love the Razzy Cat series, so I had to give this new series a shot. It's a sweet book, introducing Olivia and her beautiful cat, Millie. I liked the characters in the town. They're all good people and were more than ready to be friendly with a newcomer to their town, even if some of the "mean" people in town are goofy enough to think that a woman who literally just drove into town from far away killed the local bookstore owner. This seems to be a real cozy; no sex, swearing, or gore. It's a nice change of pace from my usual. I will definitely read the next book.
This author writes a number of different series that include cats as a primary character. I enjoy them all! Razzy, Soul Seeker, and Clowder cats. This new series is an off-shoot of the Soul Seekers series referencing the cat in that one (Bernie). I'm not certain if this one will have the paranormal slant that the Soul Seeker series does. There were potential allusions to it with the group of older women. This one is focusing on Olivia and her move to a small Colorado town to purchase a bookstore. There is a murder, some violence, investigations, and lots of new friends. I like the author's style and do plan to look for book 2 in the series.
Olivia has divorced her cheating husband and intends to buy a bookstore in Timber Falls, CO. But when she arrives, she finds the dead body of the current owner of the store. At first the townspeople think that she is the murderer but soon find out that she arrived in town after the murder. Then Olivia begins to make friends and those women are especially nice to her. In the meantime the sheriff is trying to find the killer. I enjoyed the lightheartedness of this novel. The best part is her relationship with a cat that found her and helps her solve the mystery.
I read this book in 1 day! That’s how much I liked it! A delightful cozy mystery. Olivia moved to this small town to start over but was met with murder & a cat the minute she arrived. I loved the way the people took her in and made her a part of their town. I loved the interaction of the characters. I hope this is the first in a long series!
What a fascinating beginning to a new series! I love the Razzy cat series and this one is also phenomenal! I've also got the 1st book in the clowder cat series! I'm in heaven now! 3 great series to choose from! This had a great storyline and of course my favorite character is Millie, the cat! Absolutely love this new series!!!!
This is a really neat book about a cat that could be magical. Olivia moves far from her home to get a fresh start and purchase a bookstore. She gets entangled in a murder and it takes the quilting club group and her mystical cat Millie to solve the case. Why I loved this book, it had a cat as the true heroine.
Olivia arrives in town to buy a book store and almost runs over a dirty white cat in the street. She leaps out to tend to the cat and has to chase her down an alley. Instead of an injured cat she finds the body of the book store owner. With a circle of new friends they hunt for the killer. Charming mystery!
Exactly what I wanted. A cozy mystery, with a dash of magical realism. Not a ton of character development, and the writing is only fine. But it was short and sweet, and I enjoyed it. (There’s also a sequel which I’ve already started.)
Olivia is not a witch, but Millie the cat is definitely special. Lots of small town cooperative caring from a quilting group of older women who help Olivia and the local sheriff solve the murder at Olivia's bookstore opening .
This is the first book I read by this author. It had plenty of action , and excitement. It shows what small town life is all about. I look forward to reading the next book.
An engaging story with an unusual and exceptional cat, Millie, who attaches herself to Olivia. They met when Olivia arrived in town to buy the local bookshop. Finding the owner dead in the alley behind the bookshop led to a whole new beginning for both of them.qq
Recovering from a bitter divorce Olivia moves to Timber Falls to buy a bookstore unfortunately when she gets there the owner has been murdered and that's just the beginning, things get very complicated but in the end, they find the killer. Great read
I enjoyed the storyline and the pace of the book. Looking forward to reading the next adventure of Olivia and Millie, with the help of Meg and the quilting club of course.
I picked blind on KU and scored a winner. Loved this book especially the inclusion of older but sharp ladies. Millie the cat is endearing and amazing. I will be reading more of this author's backlist.
My first book by Courtney McFarlin and I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was to read! I plan on spending my next several weeks reading her different series!
This was a clean but lame cosy mystery. This is written with a possibility of paranormal, but nothing is really obvious, in this read. This is not a spoiler. I will avoid the rest of this series.
