He owns half the town… but he doesn’t own my heart!
I left Pine Cove ten years ago and swore I’d never look back. But with the family bakery on the line, I don’t have any choice. Despite what waits for me there.
As soon as I cross into town, Hunter storms into my life again — and he’s as infuriating as ever!
But this time he’s also giving me an offer I can’t refuse. Help him plan his gala and he’ll save our bakery.
But it’s not that easy. It seems the smell of cinnamon and sugar isn’t the only sweet thing in the air. Because I’m falling for him all over again! This time, can I close the deal?
Or will Hunter leave me heartbroken and on the market again?
Keep reading if you want: Billionaire men, sassy women, high school sweethearts, a tense second love, and a slow burn that pays off.
After reading this book, I came to the conclusion that the author was making it up as she went. Which is fine, I do that too. But it was as if once she finished writing it, it automatically was published.
The prologue? Who are those people? Where is the continuity? Why do they have different names from the books FMC and MMC? He just breaks up with her for no good reason. It’s so different from the rest of the book. A completely different story.
The body of the book went on forever. I kept looking at the percentage and thinking “surely there’s not more”. The plot was overall okay. I just didn’t understand the point of her going to Canada and him planning to split time in LA. That didn’t do much to advance the plot at all.
I think the story had promise and I do like Maya for not being a pushover. But I just can’t get behind this story.
2.5 star🌟 sometimes I need a little small town "hallmark-esque" romance book every once in a while to sooth my soul. At 50-60% mark of the book I was set on rating it a 3 star, but everything started to feel like it was thrown together in a way. The beginning had a pretty good plot laid out but just everything shifted from the middle to the end.
Also the prologue threw me off a bit with the MC being named Summer? But the entire book her name is Maya? Maybe a last minute name change by the author that was skimmed over. It was a bit repetitive here and there between the relationship back and forth between Hunter and Maya. The constant reminder of what happened 10 years ago.
Looking pass those things it was a cute little read with some hiccups along the way. Glad to know that they have a happy ending which really warmed my heart.
This book is just like a freshly baked cinnamon roll. Layer upon layer of sweet and savory goodness. And just as you think you’re getting to the center of the cinnamon roll, you have more layers. This book is totally and utterly wonderful. Maya and hunters relationship is just that sweet savory ooey goodness and definitely hot in and out of the oven
I am totally enjoying the series of Pine Cove, and I can’t wait to see who’s next.

Hunter and Maya were high school sweethearts until he broke her heart. She left town vowing never to return but when her family needs help, she returns and finds herself reconnecting with Hunter. He wants her help and in return he will help her family with their financial problems. As they work together Maya finds her heart following behind Hunter. Will their reconnection have them rekindling their relationship and a second chance for happiness.

Love these second chance romances. They are young when they first date but of course since they are young they don’t act right lol. But it was good to see how both Maya and Hunter grow into being adults to work on their relationship.

This was a man that wasn't going down without a fight, he was put into several compromising situations, but he convinced Maya that she was the one. I liked that as badly as he wanted her, he still remained a gentleman. But then when he got the all clear, he took his shot. I really liked it.
Romance that brings the flavor to get under the skin and linger on the heart. From spicy attraction to sweet heartache, Maya and Hunter turn the unpredictably of life into an irresistible second chance. Vaughn is good at illiciting all the feels and Star Crossed Second Chance delivers the goods.
Very well written tale of a second chance at love and happiness. Well presented characters and situations. The HEA was a hard fought battle which proved well worth the effort.☺
Can betrayal and bitterness be replaced with love and a second chance for a happily ever after? Within this story you find a tenacious and persevering Alpha man working hard to tear down walls erected by his failure to keep a promise as a teenager!💚🦋
