Sometimes going with the flow… Can really rock the boat. Catering manager and amateur sleuth, Carolina Hart, is dismayed that her calendar of catering jobs isn’t exactly filling up, so when a recurring client throws her a lifeline, she jumps on it.
A new river cruise company needs a caterer for their maiden voyage and Carolina eagerly comes aboard…for an entire week.
The kitchen and their accommodations are state of the art, but Carolina soon finds herself battling the impulse to throw a difficult staff member overboard.
When a scream rings out in the middle of the night, and a body is discovered, Carolina vows to catch the killer, trying to keep her head above water while drowning in a wave of potential suspects.
Mechanical issues and inclement weather nearly make it impossible for her to stay on course, but despite her sinking feelings that the killer may have their sights set on her, Carolina wades through the clues.
Will it be smooth sailing, or will the current pull her under? Find out in this exciting Culinary Cozy Mystery!
This one took place on a small, privately owned cruise ship. A person was killed in her bathroom. A few people don’t like the person, but does that mean those people killed someone? Or maybe the people that didn’t like the person all got together and conspired to kill?
All Carolina, Levi, Denise, and Marissa want to do is act professionally, cook and serve their food, and be paid. Then they want to get the heck off the swaying and choppy river as soon as possible. In the midst of all the chaos, hopefully they’ll solve a murder (or two).
Add-on: There is a part in this book where Mabel mentions the fact that she didn’t like how Carolina and Levi were dating. It was a stressed point, but we never see anything happen that caused Mabel to freak out so much about this fact. Did a co-worker break her heart once that caused her to be so adamant about not allowing workers to date? I just felt it was strange to stress this point with no basis.
This was definitely not a love boat cruise, lol, more like ship of murders and in between waves that kept the Hart team stumbling around, Carolina stumbled around with clues that helped her solve the murder. She had a little help in the showdown with someone who definitely had some experience in these matters. Danny’s excitement at the end over a new prospective catering job and Carolina’s answer to that was just too funny!
The group is offered a new kind of catering job. A new river cruise boat is going on a shake down voyage for five days down the Colorado river to Arizona. Four of them will sail on the cruise for five day’s feeding 200 passengers. The first night dinner goes smoothly but then things start to go wrong and people turn up dead. Lots of twists and turns with a surprise ending. A fun read.
Carolyn catering jobs are not keeping her busy. So she jumps a chance to cater a river boat cruise for a week when one of rivals throws the opportunity to her. But it is not smooth sailing when a body is discovered in the middle of night. She’ll have to do some quick sleuthing to figure a killer before she becomes the next victim. It is a quick paced delightful read.
This is book #10 in the Hart Times Cozy Mysteries. It was a fun, fast, easy read that was also entertaining. I am loving Caroline & Levi and the rest of the catering crew.
Now how can happen on a river cruise ship. Well it seems murder can happen. But all they wanted to do was feed the people and have a safe trip. But that just doesn't happen on the ship. At least the mystery can be solved and they can get off the river.
