This book takes an interesting approach to explore the saintly life of St. Alphonsa, India's first woman saint. Using the foundation of the beatitudes, the author brings out the spirituality of Alphonsa. While this work is primarily spiritual literature, it draws from various biographies written on the saint and includes parallels to the loves of Francis and Clare of Assisi, the Franciscan founders in whose footsteps Alphknsa followed as a Franciscan Clarist nun, and Therese of Child Jesus.

A short, simple, and impactful assessment of the life and characteristics of St. Alphonsa. There is a small amount of biographic data, but mostly considers her spiritual life and holiness. The text could use some editing, is somewhat over-the-top in its portrayal of what the author considers her "perfection," but remains a helpful spiritual guide and enjoyable read.
