Hirohiko Araki ( 荒木飛呂彦) is a Japanese manga artist. He left school before graduation from Miyagi University of Education.
He enjoys the baseball manga Kyojin No Hoshii (Star of the Giants); the video games Mario Kart and Bomberman; and likes Prince and other African-American singers, as well as jazz, rock, and rap.
5 stars because it’s JoJo, but I really hate Iggy. He’s one of the worst characters in the series.
Otherwise, there was some impressive color art in this volume, and key players reappear. It was also interesting to see how Jotaro could possibly survive multiple bullets to the head.
I watched all of the anime before I read this, but I really like that I choose this one since the Oingo Boingo brothers chapter was in it. Overall, it was really funny to me and I really connected to it because I read children's japanese books when I was younger, they really did a great job of imitating that. Also Iggy is my favorite character.
Tbh weakest part 3 volume so far. I only took 15 screenshots while reading it so you know it wasn’t quite hitting. This was the part that (unfortunately) made me ride or die for Iggy because if there’s one thing that’s gonna hit, it’s a reluctant hero. Rip to Boingo’s hopes and dreams. Also thank GOD Kakyoin is back I missed him :’)
you know that i don't really like a volme that much when i don't have that many one-line comments while reading the chapters. - hal horse is a wild card - the animals fight was unexpected (for someone who says that he loves dogs, hirohiko araki sure went overboard)
Iggy is a defines himself as a pivotal character in this volume and like all of Jojo this is a masterpiece! Completely wonderful and amazing highly reccomend this piece of art!
For the past few volumes I have felt that the story was being dragged out. The gang get ever closer to meeting Dio for what is bound to be an epic final battle but we never seem to get there. I'm sad to say that the majority of this volume feels like filler. We get a few characters returning but the exact same twist is used as when they appeared last time. This volume is a lot shorter than most of the Jojo volumes and as a lot of it takes place with a dog as the main character so there is less talking than normal as well which means this volume flies by. Although the story isn't the best the art is still top notch. The chapters between Iggy and Pet Shop are wonderfully done with all the action well realised which helps with the lack of talking. Not the best volume in the series but does leave us on a cliff-hanger which promises that our desire for a final encounter is just round the corner hopefully.
ess to help. The conclusion of the battle from the previous volume is also solid. I like these adversaries because it’s not just a straightforward one-on-one fight, there’s a sense of waiting to see what will happen. Plus, the humor is really good, and it’s easy to like the villains, especially with how goofy they can be at times.
I also enjoy the start of the next confrontation because, once again, it’s about figuring out how to outsmart the opponent psychologically or trick them, which I find more engaging than straightforward battles. Sometimes, typical fights feel like kids playing in a sandbox, arguing over who has the better power. Though JoJo is so grotesque that I enjoy it, if it were like that all the time, I’d probably lose interest. Additionally, the artwork is fantastic. Sure, the appearance of Stand users has become a meme, but it’s clear that for the author, it’s a way to make villains memorable and reflect their personality traits through their design.
This volume has two great battles with diametrically opposed tones. The first is a comedy / mystery with hol horse and boingo, featuring the latter’s stand which can predict the future, but in highly improbable and incomplete fashion.
The second is one of the best battles in all of jojo — the scrappy dog, Iggy vs the psychotic falcon, pet shop. Both are great characters. Iggy is a tiny Boston terrier with a bad attitude and a penchant for coffee flavored gum who just wants to be left alone. But in a “save the cat” moment, Iggy intervenes against his better judgement to shield a kid from the wrath of Pet Shop. What ensues is an epic, no holds barred battle to the death.
Pet shop never speaks, but maintains a stare of unfathomable menace throughout. The crazed bird is a relentless killer who puts horror icons like Jason, Freddy, leatherface, and Michael Myers to shame.
It feels kinda disrespectful to Iggy to give this volume 3 stars when its the first volume since his introduction that he actually does something, but honestly it was a short one at only 2 fights and both are kinda meh to me. I actually do like the Hol Horse and Boingo fight a lot since I like the Boingo joke shenanigans, but its nothing that stands out all that much especially when paired with ice bird versus sand dog. Still fun, but probably the weakest volume of the part so far, and since I already know whats coming up, it'll definitely stay that way.
Quote of the Volume:
"I'm a gentleman ... That's because I respect ALL ladies... The good-looking ones, the dogs, all of 'em!"

I didn't care for the Boingo/Hol Horse story. Just felt like a retread of familiar territory, delaying the arrival of Dio. The twist with JoJo taking a bullet to the head was pretty good though, that was clever. The Iggy story was actually pretty cool! The fight with Pet Shop was interesting, and actually pretty exciting for an experimental story about a dog. I don't love The Fool's design, and Iggy isn't always drawn... well, but some of his expressions are just great, and it's cool to see a character get an arc, when I never expected him to have any sort of personality. Ready for Dio dammit, let's goooooo!
And just like that WE 🔙BACK 🔛ON 🔝TOP WITH IT. Two favs, Hol Horse and Boingo, return as partners and it’s a gem. Hol Horse is a stud and Boingo’s Stand is so much fun on paper. Love the funky drawings ridiculous scenes Araki gives us through Boingo.
Iggy finally does something! And it’s actually one of the better “fights” so far. It’s a legit fight, two animals getting after it. I liked it and it was neat getting the POV of Iggy. I like that Araki gave him a voice. Crazy how well he can draw a falcon but can’t draw a dog lol.
Kakyoin is back! In all his glory, that beautiful charming boy! Just in time for the final stretch into DIO’s lair. Hype!
Hol Horse recruits an unwilling Boingo to help him bring down Jotaro and the others. Polnareff uncovers Hol Horse's plan and alerts the others to the danger. Jotaro narrowly escapes from Hol Horse's bullets, it looks like the comic can be wrong. It turns out Hol Horse shot the bullets before noon putting a hole in their perfect plan. Iggy meets a formidable foe up in the sky who tries to crush him in icy defeat. Iggy defeats Pet Shop and Kakyoin returns to the group, now they must enter Dio's domain.

Ok so there was three arcs in this volume as usual "Hol Horse and Boingo", "The Gatekeeper of Hell, Pet Shop" and "D'arby the gamer"which were really good. However, only the second one caught my whole interest and kept me so captivated. Petshoopo really was a great character and a very intense stand user, whom I enjoyed every single minute reading his arc. The other D'arby was funny and interesting but his elder brother, although a cheater, was more fun to read about.
I finished reading this whole part sometime in the summer, but I don't know when. I know it is a very popular opinion, but Part 3 is certainly my favorite. I am a huge Jotaro Kujo fan. Anyway, folks who haven't read Part 3 are sure to enjoy it if they have enjoyed Part 1 and Part 2.
Nesse volumes temos a aguardada luta de Iggy com Pet Shop, que para mim foi um dos melhores embates desse arco até aqui. Na sequência temos o D´arby mais novo e claro , a entrada na mansão de Dio. Chegando perto do final.
Iggy is the standout character of this volume with his fight against Dio’s evil guard-bird. Hol Horse and Boingo return too and their fight is fun, utilizing the comic stand again. And we finally make it to Dio’s mansion! This has been a long journey and I’m excited to see how it’s going to end!
3.5 rounded up. We are almost to Dio, but first! The unnecessary animal stand fight featuring Iggy the annoying dog! If not for those chapters, I would have enjoyed this one more
