"She was my gravity. She was the light in the darkest of my days, and her smile ignited a flame inside of me that had gone out a long time ago."

BITTERSWEET ROMANCE. Suicide Note is the perfect example of a sweet, romantic, lighthearted story that will leave you sighing happily after finishing it. This was my first book by Teresa Mummert and I can already say it won't be my last.

Things spoken can be forgotten and forgiven, but the written word has the power to change the course of history, to alter our lives.

Jenn --

Shane --

At the verge of her twenty seventh birthday, Jenn is anything but happy with her life. She doesn't seem to move forward with her career, she doesn't have the best relationship with her family and to top it all, she has just gotten her heart broken by the love of her life. She feels miserable and alone and rather escapes real life while reading books than to face her not so bright looking future.

"Reading was my only escape from reality. Through books, I could be whoever I wanted. I could fall in love with the handsome prince, travel to exotic places, and take the leap that almost always had a happy ending." ~ Jenn

Then, she meets Shane, a soldier who's on leave for a couple of weeks and who has just gotten out of a bad relationship himself. He has no intention of getting close to anybody, let alone fall in love, in the short period before getting send back to Iraq. But when he meets Jenn, he immediately knows she's not the kind of person he'll be able to forget soon.

"I always thought I hated surprises too, but they usually weren't the good kind. Jenn was the kind of surprise that had turned my world upside down."
~ Shane

Shane thinks he needs to save Jenn from her unhappy life but what he soon realizes is that they both need each other to heal and to move on from their broken hearts. Together they give each other strength to forget about the past and to move on with their lives. But they also find out that being in a relationship with a soldier isn't always easy... Is their love worth fighting for? Is it strong enough to survive being away from each other for so long?

Now let me tell you what I loved about this book;

First of all, the cover, it's original, it's colourful and the title very much intrigued me into picking up this story to find out what it was all about.

Second of all, Shane... I mean, who doesn't love handsome looking guy who turns out to be a soldier with a tough guy exterior but a heart of gold deep down inside. I loved how he always tried to make Jenn happy and how he made her try out new things in life instead of always taking the easy road.

"If anyone makes you cry, I will make them cry, okay?"

And last but not least, the romance, the moments they shared together were just sweet and cute without it being to much of a cliché. They had a perfect chemistry together and it was fun to read how they slowly but surely started to get to know each other better and how their relationship grew into something more than either of them ever could have expected.

"You were the light when my entire world was dark. You gave me a reason to keep going when all I wanted to do was give up." ~ Shane

What I didn't like that much was that, at times, the story felt a bit rushed and that some of the events were a little predictable. But overall, I still really enjoyed reading Suicide Note. I also think this book would be excellent movie material; the kind you watch to forget about the world for a while and to leave you with a huge smile on your face after watching it.

***

"I always thought a piece of my heart had been missing. Turns out that piece was you."

If you're looking for a romantic story with a happy ending, stop looking and give this book a try! ;-)

4.5 LOVETASTIC STARS

I had never read any of Teresa Mummert’s books before I picked up Suicide Note. I have to say that’s about to change. This book was beautifully written and now I plan on now going on a Teresa Mummert reading binge! I love when a book that’s getting lots of buzz actually lives up to expectation. There’s nothing worse than reading something and thinking “okay, I don’t get it!! Why is everyone raving over this?” I can honestly tell you that I fell in love with these two characters within the first couple chapters. Is there anything better than opening up a book and getting lost between the pages?! NO there isn’t.

This is a book that will easily suck you in and you will find yourself a couple hours later mesmerized by how these two characters are with each other. It’s heartwarming, sensual, and sweet; a story of two people coming together in a way that was unexpected but fated. I love the thought that at any moment the person you’re suppose to and are destined to be with could walk into your life. That at a single moment when you are feeling your lowest your prince charming could show up. Sigh....I am SUCH a sucker for a romance. Sometimes the BEST stories are the ones that are written as a FULL book. One, that when you close that very last page you are left feeling hopeful, happy and complete. Teresa Mummert has written a book in which all that happens and I absolutely LOVED it.

“She was gravity. She was the light in the darkest of my days, and her smile ignited a flame inside of me that had gone out a long time ago.”

Jenn is feeling abandoned by her family and ex fiancé. Betrayed by her sister and lost in her life. Everyday is a struggle to wake up and go on. Her boss is a grouch, her life is uneventful and the stress of a future she thought she would have, disintegrating before her eyes, is enough to make her want to quit and give up.

description
MY JENN

Shane is in the Army, stationed in Iraq and going through his own struggles. The love of his life left him for another man. The stress of the job and the realization that he’s given his heart - not something he ever gives freely - to a woman that broke it without thought, has him seriously questioning his life. Getting ready to take leave for a couple weeks Shane decides that instead of going home to North Carolina he’s going to go and visit his cousin Jake instead.

“You were the light when my entire world was dark. You gave me a reason to keep going when all I wanted to do was give up.”

MY SHANE

While visiting Jake his path collides with Jenn. There’s a little spark but nothing major, until something happens that leaves Shane thinking Jenn needs saving. What Shane doesn’t expect is that they are both suffering from broken hearts and find the missing pieces they’ve been searching for in each other. Between secrets and lost loves and the fact that Shane is going to be redeployed their story has a few bumps.

Can they make it through the obstacles that are set in their path, only knowing each other a short time before they were separated? Can Jenn learn to live with the fact that the love of her life is in a war zone? Can Shane trust Jenn while he is gone?

THE KISSING BRIDGE

Seriously this is such a beautiful love story. Heart wrenching and moving, sweet and soulful. It wasn’t something filled with steam or overly erotic. It’s a light, sweet and pleasureful book. Something you would read with the intention of coming out on the other side happy. There are no cliffhangers. No sequels. It’s a standalone book that is a COMPLETE work. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a series and all that, but this is PERFECT when you need something that doesn’t leave you an emotional mess. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend this book. It's definitely something I would pick up and re read. I LOVED it.

“You were the light when my entire world was dark. You gave me a reason to keep going when all I wanted to do was give up.”

Shayne

Jenn

Jenn's life was never easy and her sister with Thomas where there to make it more difficult.
I hated her sister. She treated Jenn with the most awful way.

Shayne was a soldier who didnt have an easy life either.
His father had abandoned him and his family so he had to become the male of the house at an early age.

I couldnt save my mother , my relationship or the Iraqui soldier but I could save Jenn and maybe I could save myself.

They met and they started spending a lot of time together until Shayne realised that the

Jenn thought that they were spending time together because he was feeling pity but Shayne was already in love with her and he didnt let her go.

“I had never been scared of deployments or of war, but now I was scared to leave. I didn’t want to leave her. When I met her, I saw her as someone else who needed saving but she had saved me. She had given me hope when I had given up on everything in my life.”

Sadly Shayne had to go back to war.

India Lima Yankee”

Never give up.
No relationship is easy.

Why I loved Jenn: Jenn is simply amazing. She is the girl that hadnt been loved and yet she found the real love. She is shy and funny and I never thought that she would irritate me , but she did.

Why I loved Shayne: Shayne is a fighter and a savior at the same time. He wants to save everyone but unfortunatelly he cant.He is caring and sweet and he doesnt want to disappoint her.

4 Stars! Crazy set of circumstances bring two broken-hearted people together and I loved it!!

Considering the title of this book, even with the disclaimer, I wasn’t quite sure how I would feel about it. Well, feel I did, and it was all good.

Told from alternating first person points-of-view, this is the journey of two jilted lovers, Jenn and Shane who, by chance, are brought together. They form a friendship and eventually realize that something more is evolving between them. It was lovely to grow with them and I enjoyed the time they spent together as friends. It was a relationship that blossomed rather quickly, and considering their history, they were rather cautious of what was happening. But time was not on their side and when it comes to matters of the heart, you can’t always control how you feel, neither do you want to. I thought it was all plausible and well played out. I was rooting for these two all the way.

I felt the story was rather unique, the dialogue was fun, and the chemistry between Jenn and Shane was believable and although the steam factor was on the light side, the desire and passion they had for one another was strong. I didn’t need heated love scenes to know that these two had it bad for each other and I felt that they were meant to be. There is also heartbreak when the reality of war hits home, and the character’s struggle with what happens is well-written and was unbelievably touching. I would be remiss if I revealed the circumstances behind the tragic event.

Don’t fret, there is an HEA, and have some tissues ready, you’re going to need them. It’s a little bittersweet, but very appropriate! I think if you’re looking for something different and a book that will warm your heart, then I recommend this read!

*** Do not let the title stop you from reading this one... no actual or attempted suicide occurs! ***

A heartfelt story about two people who randomly come together and go on a journey of friendship, finding themselves and finding love against all odds.

Meet Jenn-
 photo 1ecc69ed-1956-46c9-b7fe-775077654bd7_zps9918c35c.jpg

Jenn is just days from her 27th birthday. She has not had an easy year. Her family situation is not ideal, and her fiance was cheating on her, so she left him. Her sister is now marrying her former fiance- It’s kind of a mess. She has a job she mostly enjoys, but not a lot of friends.

Now meet Shane <3
 photo Suicidenote-Shane_zps88eac3f9.jpg

Shane is on leave from the Army for two weeks. He has been in Iraq. He just found out that his fiance married another man while he was overseas. She couldn’t take the stress of being with a soldier. She is living in his home in North Carolina with her new man, so he decides to visit his cousin while he is on leave...

His cousin Jake happens to be Jenn’s boss. Jenn and Shane meet at Jake’s office. Jake finds a letter that he mistakes for a suicide note and he wants to spend time with Jenn, get to know her and help her.

They spend her birthday together and from there, their friendship begins. Jenn is on vacation for a few weeks while Shane is in town so they spend a lot of time together. They both start developing feelings for each other. Shane is conflicted. After what happened with his ex, he is worried about getting in any kind of relationship knowing he is getting ready to go back to Iraq, but there is something about Jenn.

I knew I could never forget her, even if I wanted to, and I knew that day would come. The day she forgot about me and moved on. It would kill me, but she would be engrained on my memory forever. I felt like I owed it to her to make sure she was happy.

Jenn and Shane can no longer deny their feelings. They make a go of a relationship, even though Shane is getting ready to leave.

It is hard for both of them while he is gone. Shane is a soldier. It’s never been difficult for him to leave, but its different this time.

Things come up in the states as well as Iraq that make it even more difficult. But they both try to remember it’s not forever, and Shane will do whatever it takes to come home to Jenn.

“I need you right now.”
“I need you too, Sunshine.”
“Why do you call me that?”
“You were the light when my entire world was dark. You gave me a reason to keep going when all I wanted to do was give up.”

What a sweet and beautiful story! The writing was great, the ending was fantastic! I shed a few tears, but overall it wasn’t a sad story. Jenn and Shane saved each other from the loneliness in their lives. Shane was the best... sweet, sexy and fun. I really liked Jenn as well. She had a crappy family, but she was a strong and independent woman. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great love story! <3

When it’s not bad, it’s good.

Suicide Note was not a bad book. It had a unique plot, decent dialogue, and a sweet romance. There were some heartbreaking moments, but most of the drama was pretty light. Overall it was a heart warming read.

Here is where I feel like I have no business writing a review for Suicide Note. It’s because I don’t know what it was...what it is that kept me from loving it. It wasn’t badly written; the story was good. It just never grabbed me. My emotions were never quite pulled to the surface and I can’t really tell you why. Maybe it was the development? Maybe it was the plot? Maybe it was just me? Whatever it was, I’m obviously the minority here.

Here’s my theory...

I’m a crack addict that has developed a tolerance. No seriously. Books are my drug of choice and I read...a lot. The more I read, the more I need in a story for it to pull me in. The more I need in a story for it to grab my emotions. My skin has become so tough and scarred by all the emotional book beatings that it’s tough to break the surface. It’s like my head and heart are diluted by so many books; it takes something huge to make a splash.

I think Teresa Mummert definitely has talent as an author, but I needed more. Something was missing. Since I can’t come up with more specifics, I assume it’s more a personal taste, something inside me that kept me from loving Suicide Note.

It wasn’t great, definitely not bad...better than okay. It was good.

READ ON!

It was ok, didn't love it, didn't hate it.

I thought it had a great potential but it fell short. I found it a tad disjointed and it took me a while to get into the rhythm. Each chapter was meant to be told from Jenn or Shane's POV but it kept jumping from one to the other within the same chapter, also in the same sentence from first person to the third.

I'm not nitpicking and I would have overlooked the lack of editing, but there were quite a few to let them go.

This one is from Shane's POV, he's calling his cousin Jake from the airport:

“Hello?”
“Jake? Hey, man! How are you doing?”
“Jesus, is this Shane? How have you been?” Jake pulled the phone away from his face and yelled to his wife. “Honey, you will never believe who is on the phone!”

How can Shane see what Jake is doing on the other side of the line?

“Coming right up.” He handed me back her card and I moved to the small counter”

Or

“We rode in silence as they made our way across town toward Bella’s,an Italian restaurant...

And another one:

“I turned around and smiled at May as they made their way to the row of seats along the wall.”

And lots of other errors:

“I just don’t know if I ever told you how proud I am of you I am.”

Or

“I couldn’t get out of their fast enough.”

I didn't feel the chemistry between the two main characters. I just couldn't connect with Jenn . She was a weak and unaspiring character even though everyone kept saying she was a strong woman. I liked Shane to start with but just couldn't understand some of his actions .
There were questions that remained unanswered, I wasn't touched by the "drama" and definitely wasn't convinced by the way some of the issues were resolved, or presumed as resolved.

Overall a so-so read.

The blurb of the book was appealing to me so I really wanted to read this book. However, as soon as I started, the alarm bells started to ring and here I am at 30%, dropping the book because I have lost all hope :(

I rarely say something "this bad" about a book but I need to say it here.

*********************************************

This book is unfortunately very poorly written. Its writing is so very bad in so many ways...

Terrible, horrendous writing!

The story doesn't flow, the dialogues are ridiculous, someone says something out of nowhere and I ask myself, "Why did he/she say this now??!! It is impossible to follow the conversations because they are disjointed and irrelevant most of the time.

You cannot get into the story as it is like a patchwork with many holes in it. The choppiness of the story with no unity or coherence makes it a total mess!

And of course, there is no character development. All of them are superficial and shallow.

The writer tries "first person omniscient" style (in which the narrator is a character in the story, but also knows the thoughts and feelings of all the other characters), but she cannot pull it off. It is a silly style, anyways; why would anyone want to use it?

The editing mistakes are too many! Grammar mistakes, spelling mistakes, punctuation mistakes... all too many!

I must say that even a good editor cannot save this book. It needs to be just thrown away and rewritten from scratch to make it better, there is no other way!

GOOD ONE!!!!

This was a super sweet story about a soldier that gets dumped by his girlfriend while he's in Iraq and a beautiful girl that gets dumped by her finace for her sister.. Shane gets hold of a letter that Jenn was writing to her family telling them goodbye. She was just leaving town to get away from her family and job and start over somewhere else.. however, the letter sounds like a suicide letter. Shane can't let this beautiful girl thats hurting just like him end her life. So he's home for 2 weeks and he's going to spend every moment with this stranger, this sweet beautiful girl, giving her any kind of happiness he can. They form a quick friendship and spend days together forming a bond, a beautiful bond... Jenn eventually finds her letter in Shane's possession and realizes the only reason he approched her is because of it. Initially that was the reason---but Shane fell hard for her along the way and Jenn has fallen for him too.

I really enjoyed this one.... it was a sweet fluffy happy read and just what I needed. I do prefer books with more sizzle and sexy times, more edgy, more angst, bla bla bla... but every now and then I need to throw in something thats so sweet it gives me a toothache.. and this did it!!!

What a beautiful story!!

4.5 stars!!

This story has no suicide or sucide acts. Don't let the title fool you.
It is a wonderfully well written story of Shane and Jenn.
Told from Dual points of view.

Shane is on a personal leave from Iraq and his fiancee has left him. She has already gotten married to another man. Right before they were to get married, and in the same church.

Jenn just got dumped by her fiancee..who left her for her sister. He was cheating on her with her sister when they were together. They are getting married to each other now. If that is not bad enough she has to be the maid of honor..Ouch!

Jenn works for Shanes cousin. That is how they meet. Shane finds a suicide note attached to a letter. It was written to him and printed from his cousins office. He keeps thinking it is different people that wrote it. He ends up thinking it is Jenn. So he starts hanging out with her to "save" her. Their friendship blooms into a fantasic relationship.
It is a sweet romance and with a happy no cliffhanger ending!

5 Heart Clutching Leave Me Breathless Stars

OMG!!
WOW!!
AMAZING!!
BEAUTIFUL!!
ASTOUNDING!!

Teresa Mummert has done it AGAIN!! I am COMPLETELY blown away by this book!! Suicide Note is hands down one of the BEST books that I have EVER read!! I absolutely DEVOURED it!!

Things spoken can be forgotten and forgive but the written word has the power to change the course of history, to alter our lives.

This was so much more than simply sitting down and reading a book to me. It was like I was a silent observer watching everything unfold before my eyes. The details were so intense. I felt every emotion that was thrown my way. I smiled every smile, laughed every laugh and cried every tear. I jumped up and down with excitement. I fell to my knees in heartache.

First we met Jenn.

She definitely wasn’t dealt a good hand in life. Everyone she should have been able to count on always seemed to let her down. Her family was far from affectionate towards her; instead they seemed to thrive off of making her life a living hell. She had a fiancé who cheated on her. A sister who’s betrayal is out of this world. Parents who thought Jenn was the problem and not the choices that were made. She deserved so much more than what she was getting. She is beautiful, smart and loving; but she was made to feel like she was nothing. My heart ached to the core for her.

And then we have Shane.

Talk about another life that has been thrown to the wolves. Shane is a Sergeant in the Army and currently in Iraq. Sadly, this wasn’t the only war he was fighting. He has a dark past that haunts him daily. Shane feels that as though the things that happened when he was a child could have been prevented if he had done more, when he did absolutely nothing wrong. What else could be thrown his way? Well, his fiancé decided to cheat on him as well. Seriously, you cheat on a man who is dealing with this:

I kept my fingers over the oozing wound. I glanced around the room at all the young weathered men who stared back at me. I had no words, no idea what to say to make the situation any different from what it was. This was our reality. At any given moment, everything could be taken from us.

Shane ends up back in the US on leave for two weeks and decides at the last minute to visit his cousin (who is more like a brother to him) Jake and his family instead of returning to deal with his failed relationship. Ironically, this is when two deeply damaged souls will cross each others paths. While Shane is at Jake’s workplace he meets Jenn for the first time. Jake is Jenn’s boss. What perfect timing for Shane to show up because Jenn’s birthday is the next day and the start of her two week vacation. Sadly, this was also the time she was supposed to be on her honeymoon. Instead she will be spending it alone. I told you, my heart hurts for her.

Oh, but Shane has other plans. He is the TRUE definition of the ultimate sweet man! I wanted to reach through my screen and KISS him!

Jenn and Shane start spending as much time together as possible. As with every love story, falling for each other is NEVER in the plan and this one is no different. The more time they spend together, the closer they become. Jenn finally admits to Shane, “I’m not strong enough to keep all of these feelings bottled up inside of me any longer. I feel like I’m going to explode.”

Shane really made Jenn step out of her comfort zone. He went above and beyond what anyone had ever done for her. He made her laugh and smile again. He gave her new experiences.

He protected her from the ugly reality of her life.

“You can be a cocky asshole to me. I deal with little pricks like you all of the time. But you leave Jenn the hell alone or the next time you take a piss it will be through a fucking tube. Do we understand each other?”

He gave her happiness again.

I have always considered myself to be strong, even when the odds were stacked against me, but I felt like I was only hanging on by a thread. I’d forgotten how to breathe without inhaling the minty smell of his soap. I forgot how to feel without looking into his blue eyes. He awakened something inside of me that I didn’t even know I had locked away.

During all of the time they spend together Jenn knows that eventually Shane has to leave. One important piece of information she doesn’t know is that he has to go back to Iraq. Without giving you details, I will simply say that I was in awe of the amount of commitment they could give one another when they should have no faith left in the opposite sex. But the truth of the matter was they needed each other.

My heart sank into my stomach. I had to spend every day of my leave with her. I still told myself it was to make sure she was okay, but in truth, I needed her as much as she needed me.

Let me share a piece of advice with you. Grab the whole box of tissues when you start to cry because one won't be enough. I knew my heart would be crushed when Shane had to go back to war and so will yours.

“I can’t lose you now, Jenn. I didn’t even know I wanted anyone else until I met you. I was perfectly happy being on my own. Now I can’t stand to think about what it will be like to walk away from you.”

“It’s not forever, Shane. I have been waiting my entire life for someone to look at me the way you do. I can wait a few more months.”

“I have to go.” He pulled out a small piece of paper from his pocket, placed it in my palm, curling my fingers around it. “I was awake all night thinking about this moment. I couldn’t come up with the right words to take your pain away. I want you to read this whenever you’re sad. Whenever you read it, know that I am thinking about you. No matter where I go or what I am doing, I will be thinking about you.”

I knew Teresa was bound to tear my heart into a million pieces and she did. The pain that she portrayed in her writing was palpable. Deployment brought more hardships into Shane and Jenn’s lives. Situations that, for those of us who don’t live the life personally, can only imagine. While the following quote by May, Jake’s wife, can be applied to all of our lives, I believe it fit perfectly for what Shane and Jenn were going through at the time. I also believe that it is a quote that military families try and live by.

“Never give up. Things will get hard. No relationship is easy. You have to work through your problems as if tomorrow isn’t guaranteed because it’s not. Never go to bed angry and always make sure you say I love you every chance you get.”

I was on the edge of my seat, clutching onto it as tightly as I could. Just when I thought I couldn’t take anymore, she began to put the pieces back together one by one.

“You were the light when my entire world was dark. You gave me a reason to keep going when all I wanted to do was give up.”

The ending was PERFECT!! There couldn’t have been a better sentence to wrap this beautifully written story up. It will bring you tears, but it will also bring you a smile.

I love reading a book that tells a believable story and that is EXACTLY what I got! The issues faced in Suicide Note are reality for so many people. I absolutely refused to read any reviews until AFTER I was done reading and was able to post my own. I wanted to experience everything first hand and I am glad that I did. A new book boyfriend to add to your list!

Teresa Mummert has created a beautiful heartwarming story that you will fall in love with.

“She was gravity. She was the light in the darkest of my days, and her smile ignited a flame inside of me that had gone out a long time ago.”

We first met up with Jenn and Shane, as they are each struggling with the aftermath of failing relationships. Jenn has had it rough; an arrogant ass of an ex, a sister that I would have punched in the face if she were mine and parents who offer no sympathy and just don’t understand her.

Shane hasn’t had it any better, having been dumped by his fiancé while fighting in Iraq. Coming home on leave not sure what to do or where to go Shane decides to stay with his cousin Jake in Maine.

Jenn and Shane are both lonely and neither are looking for love but when they meet you just know it was meant to be. The slow build of their relationship was natural and allows you to really connect with them. The supporting characters and side stories with Shane’s cousin Jake and friend Owen's were realistic and only enhanced my love for Shane. Facing their pasts and moving on Jenn and Shane will make you smile and fill you with hope.

Suicide Note was such a lovely story that I would definitely recommend.

I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Gosh this one let me down a bit. I had high hopes from the ratings and synopsis, but it definitely fell short. You first meet Jenn after she has been dumped by her fiancé and her job is going nowhere. She has a chance encounter with army man Shane as he is on leave from Iraq. A "suicide note" leads these two to spending time together while both their worlds seem to be crumbling.

I had a hard time with the writing of the book. Each chapter was told from Shane or Jenn's POV, but the first person seemed to switch back and forth within each chapter. I eventually got the hang of it, but it distracted me for half the book.

Spoilers!

The plot development was another issue of mine. These two people spend a few weeks together, after being dumped by their respective partners only days before, and somehow are madly in love. Not enough happened for me to believe this intense quick romance of theirs. It seemed more like rebound affection. Other events with her sister and his dad had me perplexed as well. How can her sister go from hated enemy #1 to confidant so fast? And the author never went into detail after Shane met his dad, but it was a constant lingering theme of abandonment throughout the first half. It just felt unsettled.

While there were really sweet moments between the two, Jenn was too much of a weak character for me to really get behind. I found Shane charming and likable, but I never got that feeling with Jenn. She just seemed a bit emotionally immature and stilted to really root for.

Overall it wasn't my favorite, but lots of other readers seemed to love it so maybe it's clearly got a following, just not for me!

This book was reviously published as "The Suicide Note". This book is NOT about suicide. I know I shied away from it because of the title and I'm sure others have too. So I am telling you...READ THIS BOOK! It was FABULOUS! Teresa Mummert is one of my favorite authors and she did it again with The Note!

Jenn is a young woman who has had to suffer the ultimate heartbreak. She will forever be reminded of him and she is devastated. Jenn has always been second best to her sister. She is less successful, less popular, not quite as pretty. Her family is less than supportive and Jenn is never quite good enough for them. Jenn is a bit of a wallflower and has let people walk all over her.

One day she decides, no more will she allow this to happen. She decides to take matters into her own hands and instead of watching things happen to her, she is going to become and active participant in life.

Shane is a military man. He has been deployed with his unit in Iraq. Shane also has recently been through a significant loss. He is the man who is supposed to have it all together and he is supposed to be in charge. He thrives on dealing with difficult situations and coming out on top. So why can't his life stateside be the same?

Shane must deal with his own broken heart. So instead of going "home" on his two week leave, he goes to visit his cousin. Who happens to be Jenn's boss. Shane gets a letter from his cousin that was supposed to have been sent while he was deployed. The letter leads him to Jenn.

Jenn, who is broken and sad and lonely. Jenn is down but not out. Shane finds her on her birthday where she is all alone. She is sitting on the ledge of "The Kissing Bridge" reading a book. Jenn is crying. Shane finds himself immediately wrapped up in helping this broken girl.

They decide to spend some time together, or rather Shane takes charge and says they will. Jenn begins to feel more and more comfortable around Shane and she invites him to a family function. Shane learns the reason behind her heartbreak. Her ex-fiance, Thomas.

Thomas is an ass of epic proportions. Jenn soon discovers how lucky she is that he broke off their engagement. Shane sees her hurt and wants to protect her and take away her pain. Soon he finds himself feeling things for this amazingly broken young woman that he can't explain. He never meant for it to go this far.

Shane has to leave. He is still on active duty and will be headed back to Iraq. He and Jenn are separated by oceans and continents but their hearts couldn't be any closer if they tried. He struggles with the separation and trusting Jenn with his heart.

In the end, they both must learn to trust and love again. They must recognize their own strength to get them through. They have to remember that they are worthy of love and being in love. They are more, because of each other.

This story was so masterfully told. I simply adore this author's writing style. Please don't be afraid of the old title. If you don't read this book because of it you are seriously missing out. I give this book 5 HUGE STARS!

Shane is a solider coming home for his leave. Only he has nothing to come home to. His girlfriend left him while he was in Iraq. She took his home and his dog. So instead of going home to North Carolina he travels up to Maine to visit his only family. In a chance encounter he meets Jenn. The two quickly grow attached, only for Shane to have to go back to Iraq leaving Shane wondering if Jenn will leave him too.

Mummert's growth as a writes is the one thing that really struck me throughout reading this. I liked her erotica series but was not in love with it. White Trash Beautiful rocked my freakin' face off. Literally, my face just came right off. :D Suicide Note is another great one from Ms. Mummert. A story that I fell in love with and poured myself into. Jenn and Shane both have painful pasts which I think most readers can relate too. That's the thing about Mummert she really gets humans. She has write complexity into her characters.

When I first started this book I thought it was one of those romance novels that would quickly evolve into more erotica. It's not. There is real romance here. And I loved it.

The world that this book takes place in is the life of a military relationship and the toll that takes on a couple. I'm not a military wife but Mummert seems to get it. She pours emotion into the worries and fears that this couple faces because Shane chooses to serve his country. It's not a relationship that I envy, even though they clearly feel deeply for each other.

So where does the Suicide Note come from, and which character wrote it? Well telling that detail would be an epic spoiler. But the story truly is a HEA. And ok, so I may be a horror girl, and sometimes endings like this are too sweet for me. But I did enjoy this one very much.

Overall I recommend this book for people who like stories such as On Dublin Street. It's a little less intense sexually but emotionally deep.

I was given an unedited ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This review is 100% my own and written by me.

First, have to start off by telling you that Suicide Note is one of the most AMAZING novels I have ever read!!! I’m a HUGE fan of Teresa Mummert’s novels, I have read and loved them all, but Suicide Note is completely different from anything else I have ever read by Teresa Mummert and OMG, it is BRILLIANT!! I could totally see this one being made into a movie!! I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Suicide Note since I finished it last night. This novel hit me right in the heart, in a good way (I did not UGLY cry). It completely consumed me! It was an absolutely beautiful love story that I couldn’t put down.

Jenn is so lonely in life. The only thing she has going for her is that she’s trying to climb the corporate ladder in the company that she works for. She is an absolutely lovely character that I just wanted to hug and love. Shane is the strong, handsome soldier headed home on leave but not really wanting to go home. Not sure of where he fits in anymore. Both characters have been dealt a crappy hand in life. Fate brings them together but who will be the one to save whom? The connection felt between these characters was so strong and real. The secondary characters in this novel were a huge part of the story and equally as brilliantly written, the story would not have been the same with out them.

Suicide Note is a novel I will never forget, it has completely consumed my heart! I don’t think I will look at another soldier or their families the same way ever again. The emotion I felt reading this novel was, at times, raw and gut wrenching. I was completely gutted and then put back together. If you are looking for a read that will instantly hook you and touch your heart, that will have you on the edge of your seat wanting more and at the end of it all leave you speechless because you can’t believe you read something so incredibly AMAZING???? Make sure that Suicide Note is your next read!

A heartwarming book about love and betrayal, support and understanding, and about the strenght to give and get a second chance.

This book is about a suicide note, but not about a suicide act ! It's about the power of true love and how a broken heart can heal thorugh it.

"I always thought a piece of my heart had been missing. Turns out that piece was you." Shane

It's a war romance story, not too elaborated or too much drama, but with great storyline and two well written characters. It's a heavy subject... the war of Afganistan, the drama of the soldiers and their families, the distance and the insecurities of the combatants about the loves ones.

Jenn and Shane are both heartbroken and betrayed by their love ones. Shane is a soldier "left behind by his girlfriend" while he is serving his country...she's cheating on him and breaking up with him in a letter. Jenn's fiance cheats on her only to end up getting married to her own sister.

This story is written from both the hero and heroine point of view. I love it! The best way to be in their shoes, right? :) I absolutely love Jenn and Shane, because they made me laugh and cry.

You know what I loved the most? The fact that Jenn and Shane surpass their heartache and are able give and get a second chance. The bonus is: in this process they discover what love really is.

GO GET THE BOOK! 15 march is almost here :))

Ok, here I am in the minority again. I did like it but I did not absolutely LOVE it. Nice solid story. Nice characters. Nice dog. It was Nice. I really have nothing more to say about it - some people absolutely got way more from the book than I did and good for them. And to anyone who hasn't read it, go ahead, it is a good enough book. Sorry my review cannot be more inspirational but the book did not inspire me to write something more profound.

Wow... that is what I was left with after reading this book. I loved loved loved this book. This book has everything! I loved the characters and the story and the love! Ugh...
This book captured me from the very beginning. Jenn had her share of crap thrown in her face. Her personal life was hell, her job was hell... her family was awful... but Shane's life wasn't perfect either. He was overseas and was dumped in a letter that got to him a little too late.
While on leave, he struggles with his own emotions while wanting to heal Jenn's broken life. What he learns in that short leave is that he had to heal his own life too. This book is an amazing journey of love and trust.
It's not so easy to trust when your heart has been so badly broken...and I am referring to both main characters. I think what I loved about this book is Shane's family... Jake had so many internal issues that as a co-worker, Jenn just did not see. But once she was brought into the picture, she saw so much more in Jake and his life with May. All of the characters in this book had my heart...well, except Thomas and for most of the book, Jenn's sister. I am still in shock over that situation, but as we are reminded, everything happens for a reason.
The emotional toll this book took on me was surprising. I think a lot of that has to do with my deep appreciation for the military and the men and women who serve in it. Usually, as civilians, we only see the toll it takes on those waiting back at home. This book was a glimps of the other side of that reality. The toll it takes on the soldier. I was left in awe.
This is a beautifullly written book and I just could not put it down. I started reading it this morning and I was hooked. Now that it is over and I have dried the tears from my face, I can say, I cannot wait for the release date on this book so everyone can read the amazing story I have just read.
Teresa Mummert did an amazing job and I feel so lucky that I was able to share in this journey with her characters. They now hold a special place in my heart. I truly hope there is a follow up book to this. It was beautiful and I loved it so much!

OMG! Teresa, I don't know how you continue to break my heart and put the pieces back together like you do, But everytime you do,you do it with such emotion. I have no words at this moment. This book was so incredible, I cried A LOT, I smiled, I loved and I devoured this book. The emotions you write in this book are so strong. I loved Jenn, strong, independent, and so unsure of herself. But Shane saw it all and knew she was the most amazingly strong compassionate person she was. This couple built eachother up and only made life better for them. They both had been through tremendous heart break and trying times. But they both healed eachother and taught eachother to love again. This story was so true to a world that a lot of people dont realize or know about. She really made the best picture of how military families live and the trials and tribulations of their lives. You hit the nail on the head, and only you could do it! I can't wait for this book to release cause I do have some military wives as friends and I will be buying them a copy to read. Some of which their husbands are gone at this moment, and I think this would brighten their day and know they are not alone. I am not going to go to much into detail since this book isnt out yet. But I will get more specific when it releases. I don;t want to spoil anything for anyone. MARCH 15th this book comes out, and I expect everyone to buy it and read it. I know you will not be let down with this book... HOOK, LINE, and SINKER!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATS on another Amazing book Teresa! Now I am going to go have happy dream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*sigh* I'm disappointed. I thought I was going to like this book. I wanted to like this book. It really had a lot of potential, but it fell short in many, many ways.

What did I like? Well, I liked Shane. I love how he fell for Jenn and fell hard, and I love that he owned it almost right away. No waffling around with his feelings. That's a real man, ladies.

I liked much of the dialogue. Some of it cracked me up. Some of it made me mad. I swooned a little, teared up a little, and smiled a lot.

So where did it go wrong for me? Oy. Here we go.

First of all, you can't write first person omniscient like that. It was a mess. A travesty. A disaster. I know maybe a handful of books that pulled off first person omniscient, and let me tell you, this ain't one of them. I couldn't understand what was happening. How was he describing her thoughts when it was his POV? How did she know what he was doing on the other end of the phone? No, just...no.

Editing was a mess. Souls of feet? Come on. One tiny example out of many. And we don't need to know the details of undressing, redressing, showering, brushing teeth, driving, walking, and on and on and on. Too much unnecessary information.

But the absolute worst was the choppiness of the story. Every time I started to enjoy it, it jumped forward. The last third of the book felt so rushed and disjointed that I gave up and skimmed through to the very predictable finish.

I think this author has potential, because there were some genuinely enjoyable moments in this book. Unfortunately, I don't think I can bring myself to read any more of her work.

Have you ever watched a chick flick and wished you could read the book? Had just such an amazing love story, you want to relive it over and over? This is the opposite. I read this book and AM DYING to see it as a movie. I will most definitely be re-reading this book over and over. I think it could be one of the greatest Romance Movies ever! This author has a way of writing that makes you feel everything each character is going through.

I'll admit it. I cried, a lot. I laughed, smiled, grinned, and cried some more. It's been a long time since a book has caused such turmoil in my emotions. Along the lines of "The Notebook", "Dear John" and other such great love stories, Shane and Jenn will outlast them all.

Shane, always trying to be the protector, thinks Jenn is going to kill herself. Jenn, battling a heavy array of letdowns in life, love and work, just wants to be alone. He basically forces himself upon her, and from there, you're taken on a rollercoaster of astounding quality. The ups and downs, and in between, this book lacks for nothing. Every page is filled with feelings, and love that just grabs you by your shirt collar and holds you in. I couldn't put this down. I stayed up all night, and even snuck some reading in at work, trying to finish. I have to say, Suicide Note is now in my top 5 books of all time!

A great story. Not a bad book, but i didn't love it.

Jenn is lonely. She doesn't have the most supportive family and let's not mention the asshole ex-fiance. She's just going through the montions at work and dislikes her boss. She's in a funk.

Shane is in the military and just found out his girlfriend left him for another guy. He has some time off and instead of going home he decides to visit his cousin in NC. Shane's cousin is Jenn's boss. Fate seems to come into play on their casual encounter and the story takes off from there.

My likes:
-Shane, SWOON! he is super sweet!
-Flirty and funny :)
-Feel good read- Everything happens for a reason kinda book.

Dislikes:
-The author gave weird details and when it came down to the real grit, I felt cheated. Example- I don't need to know how many times Shane busts out his credit card. Or that Jenn brushed her teeth and put on a new shirt... I want to know what happens at the family brunch, or what Shane does when he finds a lost family memeber.

-I love the switching POV, but how the hell does Shane know what his cousin is doing when they are talking over the phone. Distracting!

-The their relationship felt very rushed, especially towards the end.

Like i said, I enjoyed the story, but it's not going into the favorite pile. Quick and easy feel good book.

I was provided an ARC of Suicide Note in exchange for an honest review. I seriously had no clue what I was getting ready to read and how much I was going to be doing this................................

My LORD ~ Jenn that poor girl she's been through it and when you find out what she went through you will be doing this too...............

I couldn't fathom that happening to me that to me is the ULTIMATE betrayal. Well a mix up a work leads to the best darn thing to ever happen in Jenn's life and at first I was...........................

then I was Oh no no no..............................but wait just a darn minute who is this Shane? Shane is stationed in Iraq and been dealing with his own "demons" you see he too had the ultimate betrayal occur. When a simple mix-up brings them together well you will find yourself doing this..................................................

I loved the dynamics between the two of them in the beginning. I just was crossing fingers, hoping, wish and wanting them to..............

Shane is perfect for Jenn and I loved how he was there for her especially when she was around her family and oh there was one part with her family that had me.......................................

but Shane is home on leave he has to return to Iraq and watching that tearful, painful goodbye displayed in such an honest fashion had me..

by this time Jenn and Shane have something to look forward to together. Then the unthinkable happens, well sadly not the unthinkable in this day and age which will have you right back to where I was...

I kept thinking "Oh No" please don't shut each other out ~ lean on each other you need each other. There was a part of the book where Jenn

and I was wanting to smack her and tell her go what a conflicting place to be in. I think I was confused even though I knew what was going through Shane's head too! Yes this one is told in both POV! But trust me by the end I was back to my typical crazy self totally...

Suicide Note was an EXCELLENT read and goes to show that just cause you think a book is about "something" in theory it's totally not but don't get me wrong Jenn was saved but so was Shane and in a totally different way than you are thinking. I adored this book and the look into the military life and what spouses/loved ones go through when a loved one is deployed. It's a side I never saw growing up a Military Brat but in a different ERA where one war was slowly ending.

I highly recommend this book to EVERYONE and I encourage you to read this~ You won't be disappointed it was a great read with a honest touch to it that it's like reading something that really happened to someone and heck that could be! Total 5 star read for me!

I received an ARC of this for an honest review ..

Thank you Teresa for an awesome story . It amazes me how you always write stories with characters that we all fall in love with and can connect with right away . This Book pulled me right in from the beginning and I felt every ounce of sadness, hope, Happiness , the crazy ex's everything right from the start.

book Blurb:

A soldier returning for mid-tour leave decides to stay with a cousin in Maine, after his fiancé leaves him for someone else while he is away at war. His cousin is going through his own devastation and is struggling to pick up the pieces and move on with his family. As they try to help each other through the pain, Shane's path crosses Jenn's and he soon learns that everything happens for a reason.

This book is about a suicide note, but it also about so much more then that . It is about Love, hope, family, and couple who fall in love and have that love tested by the separation of each other for months. it is about what our men and woman of our country go through daily to protect us . The sacrifices they make daily ...

Jenn has had her heart broken , she is living her life day by day trying to heal and move forward from the pain she felt. She never expected to cross path's with Shane ....

I forced myself to keep my eyes open so I could memorize every curve of her face. I wanted the image burned so deeply in my memory that when I closed my eyes to sleep at night she would be the last thing I saw and the first person on my mind when I woke.

Shane is a Ssgt in the Army , he has had his heart broken by his fiance and instead of going home to NC to deal with the fall out from his relationship he decides to go to Maine to visit with his cousin and his family .

Once there he cross' paths with Jenn who works for his cousin .

"I always thought a piece of my heart had been missing. Turns out that piece was you."

Sometimes a note is not all it seems to be , and sometimes one note ending up in the right person's hands can change your life forever ... The Journey that Jenn and Shane ride together is an amazing one and it truly shows that from heartbreak can come the best kind of love that there is known .

Teresa did an amazing job with this story . it does have an HEA .. it is definitely worth the read .

“You never truly understand what you are missing until you have it in your grasp and push it away.”

With those words I will admit I had this book in my grasp and I pushed it to the side and said let me finish this one before I start. Well BIG MISTAKE because let me tell you, this is one book you do not want to miss or put off. I cried through a lot of this book and not that I was sad but that is how much emotion Teresa made me feel. This story completely owned me from the beginning and I was unable to put it down until the last sentence and even then I was like hmmm is it too soon to start it again?!

“He was intimidating and harsh. He was caring and sweet. He was mine and I hated having to let him go.”

Shane is the strong, confident, handsome soldier coming home for a two week leave from war, and not really sure what to expect other than an ex girlfriend that has taken his home and his dog. Jenn is a lonely girl who only has work in her life and a family that I don’t blame her for wanting to ignore. Together they are beautifully perfect and fit together like two missing puzzle pieces.

“She was gravity. She was the light in darkest days, and her smile ignited a flame inside of me that had gone out a long time ago.”

Suicide note is a powerful love story that completely grabs your heart!! It is in my opinion a true view of what soldiers and their families deal with daily. For that I am probably forever going to look at soldiers in the airport and tear up. (If you see a crazy in the airport trying to hug a soldier it will be me) If you are looking for a book that draws out emotions and leaves will leave you breathless, this is it!! This book is truly beautiful and I can say without a doubt this one took a little bit of my heart with it.

“Reading was my only escape from reality. Through books, I could be whoever I wanted, I could fall in love with the handsome prince, travel to exotic places, and take the leap that almost always had a happy ending.”

Yes, this book gives you all that and just a little more!! ABSOLUTELY 5 STARS TERESA MUMMERT

I got Suicide Note as an ARC. I put it on my Kindle almost as soon as I received it and pretty much read it non-stop. It is just WOW-WOW-WOW!! Don't worry, I've got your six!

Jenn Reynolds is suffering from a broken heart, well her family sucks! Ssgt. Shane Tudor is also suffering from a broken heart and is on leave from Iraq for a few weeks. Instead of dealing with his drama in NC, he stays with his cousin, Jake, who also happens to be Jenn's boss.

Their paths cross and neither are ever the same again. "I always thought a piece of my heart had been missing. Turns out that piece was you." ~ Shane Tudor, Suicide Note.

This book is about a suicide note BUT it's about so much more than the note. It's about true love and testing how far you will go for love. How true love can heal a broken heart. It's about the sacrifice that our men and women serving our country go through every single day, every minute of the day. It makes you stop and think, wow, I am thankful for what I have here, in my life, because there is people over seas risking everything: their life, their love, their family's life... EVERYTHING.

I absolutely LOVE Jenn and Shane. Add May and Jake into the mix and it's an awesome family! I think we all need a sister or friend like May! There through it all and to support you when you can't stand anymore. I really grew attached to Jake too!

This book was nothing like I thought it would be. This book made me cry, laugh and smile. This book had me saying wow, wow, wow when I finished it. I have to say that is probably one of my favorite books by Ms. Mummert.

The more I think about this book, the more I am like wow. This is something that could happen to a neighbor, someone we work work, even went to high school with! This book is unlike anything I have read by Ms. Mummert. The writing in this book makes you feel like you are right there, feeling what everyone is feeling. I absolutely loved every moment I read this book. I laughed, cried and smiled. The ending is not predictable but I am extremely happy it ended like it did!!

Suicide Note is one of those stories that will stay with you forever long after you have read it it will be in your mind. I picked up the book at 11:00 am yesterday and out it down at 9:00 pm. I could not no that is not true I would not put it down. Once I started reading I was so engrossed in it I laughed and I cried and I yelled at one point because one character well more than one character got on my nerves. I will say this if anyone family or friend ever tried to do to me what was done to Jenn I would kick their ass hands down. No if and or buts but I would beat the hell out of them and then never ever speak to them again.

Jenn is working her ideal job and living her life the way she wants to. After being engaged to a guy for two years their relationship ended because he was a douche and what he did is unthinkable. Thomas broke Jenn's heart and stomped all over it for good measure but she was slowly trying to regain some semblance of life. At work she pretended everything was okay because she wanted to move on and just get things out of her head. That is until she met her bosses cousin Shane.

Shane is in the Army and he loves what he does but he is married to his job and it cost him his relationship with his fiance. She took and left him and married someone else while he was overseas in Iraq. Shane is devastated but he realizes that he was married to his job and it never would have worked out. So on his two week leave Shane decides he will go see his cousin in Maine and spend some time with his family. Only when he goes to Maine he gets more than he bargains for when he meets Jenn.

When the story unfolds you will be caught up in a world win story of lies, secrets, and past hurts. You will see what it is like to be betrayed by the one person you love and the healing of a broken heart and broken family. Sometimes in life we get choices but we don't get to chose who we love and when we love and where we love. Learning to let go of the past hurts and fears is hard but the reward is worth it!
