Riannon stood in the middle of her living room, watching her husband of six years, Brayden, introducing his true mate, Roxy, to their pack members. Although he insisted that little cute Omega was there only to appease his wolf and would not affect their marriage, Ria knew the sad truth. In less than a year, Roxanne would destroy everything she loved and cherished. Being the perfect Luna was simply not enough for her beloved husband when his mate bond kicked in. Just like their divorce was not enough for the vicious Omega. Right before her own Luna crowning ceremony, Roxy ordered to brutally kill Riannon and everyone who was still loyal to her. However, the Moon Goddess had other plans, and Ria was returned to the precise moment her life turned upside down with a chance to change everything—the chance she was not going to waste.
Her revenge was going so well, but Ria did not expect the changes she made to create a chain reaction, unlocking events that never happened before. Thanks to that, she soon discovers her own true mate—the Lycan King. And that’s when her story truly begins.
The Perfect Luna is an award-winning book first published in 2021. It’s perfect for anyone who loves a gripping revenge story with unexpected plot twists, a love to die for, humour mixed with heartbreaks and steamy romance. The physical copy of this book was published on Amazon in December 2023.
This is one of my favourite books of all time. The plot is so creative it drew me from the start and I couldn't put it down. The characters are amazing, especially Ria who is strong, brave, resilient and blessed, but the other characters are so in depth and complex you can't help wanting to root for the ones you love and despise the enemies. There's lots of suspense, action, mystery and drama, a steamy romance, secrets, betrayals, plot twists, and a seductively dark villain. This story explores the world of shifters, mate bonds and paranormal gifts in a stunning way that keeps you gripped. I love everything about this book, that's probably why I've already read it 4 times.
⚜Genre: Paranormal Fantasy Romance ⚜Theme: Shifter Paranormal Romance ⚜Targeted audience: Adults ⚜Characters: Alpha, Beta, Omega ⚜Representation: Non ⚜TW: Violence, decapitation, murder, poisoning, drugging, kidnapping, manipulation ⚜ tropes: betrayal, second chance, revenge, fated mates ⚜ POV: third person multiple... but like everyone's POV is in the same chapter. For me, it wasn't confusing cause I am used to that and I love this cause I get to see how everyone is thinking. ⚜ spice 🌶🌶 🌶 ⚜ rating 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟 can I give it more? ⚜standalone: yes, and you could stop at this book but you are left wanting to read the next one ⚜Pace: Fast. ⚜Ending: HEA, setting the mood for the next book
My only criticism here is that this book deserved to be a trilogy. So many things were happening at the same time, and many side characters were interesting enough to deserve their own backstory. But for an indie author, this was one of the best Shifter Romances I have ever read.
Spoiler-free Summary because this is in the blurb of the book
Riannon Thorn is a young woman raised to be the perfect Luna—the mate of the Alpha werewolf. She possesses beauty, intelligence, and strength, but she also feels trapped by the weight of her role. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she discovers that her husband, Alpha Brayden, has a true mate named Roxy. This revelation shatters Riannon's world, jeopardizing her cherished position as Luna. Roxy had Riannon murdered to take her place as the Luna of her Pack. However, fate intervenes because Riannon is granted a second chance at life—a gift from the Moon Goddess herself. In this new timeline, she makes deliberate changes, unaware that her actions will set off a chain reaction of unforeseen consequences. Buuuuut, the one thing she did not foresee is her true mate, the Lycan King.
I love Shifter Romances when they intertwine modern-day issues in the story. The book weaves a thrilling paranormal romance, exploring themes of betrayal, forgiveness, fate, and free will. It touches on themes such as - Selfish husbands who want it all - Betrayal after a long love-story - Second chances in life and how to approach them when given - Female resilient and empowerment - Using your brains when you know physical force does not work
Gilbert's writing is simple. You do not get tangled with the prose or complicated lines. But that is not what drew me in. I was absolutely in love with Riannon. That woman could turn me to bat to the other team :). She is the epitome of a woman who knows her worth and not afraid to show it. Probably why every male thrived for her attention. No, she is not a Mary Sue. Yes she is beautiful, but it was her brains, her strength, her kindness, her resilience, her compassion, her decisiveness, and her hard work that shaped it into the title of the book, The Perfect Luna. 🌕🐺✨
I loved how the author make you fall in love with certain characters and hate with a passion others, but then you understand their reasoning and you start wishing for their redemption. I do not want to spoil any here, but be prepared for twists, turns, and surprises along the way.
Such a perfect example of a “popcorn book”: you can’t stop devouring the whole thing, and you don’t realize what trash you’ve been consuming until there is nothing left to gobble up anymore. What an interesting piece of trash, nonetheless. I came across this book on a Reddit thread and just had to give it a shot. I’ve been under a lot of pressure lately, so I needed a book that wouldn’t intellectually challenge me (lmao) and remind me of my teenage guilty pleasure instead. Guess I found it.
So: Riannon, the brilliant and gorgeous werewolf wife of Brayden Thorn, the Alpha of the Silver River pack, is reborn at the exact moment in time that determined her horrible fate―seconds after dying a most terrible death by the hand of her rival, Roxanne. Her murderer, a tiny redheaded girl who appears to be Brayden’s true mate, is only just being introduced to their pack as the Alpha’s second woman, since Riannon is only his chosen mate, thus their bond lacks strength when compared to the one he shares with his destined mate, the mate chosen for him by the goddess Selene, Roxanne herself. Shocked and confused by the events of her previous life, Riannon decides to take advantage of the second chance in life that was given to her and works not only to prevent Roxanne from killing her and everyone loyal to her, but to shelter her pack from her rival’s destructive behavior as well. To achieve that, she must win over the Lycan King Gideon Stormhold, ruler of both werewolves and Lycans―a superior werewolf species of incredible strength and abilities―, who also happens to be her own true mate; she cannot yet sense their bond, however, because the wolf inside her is sleeping, trying to recover from the trauma of death and rebirth. As the story unfolds, Ria is struggling to wake her wolf, fight a silent battle against Roxanne, understand what Gideon expects from her (since she is not in a position to realize he is her true mate, yet he knows and wants to claim her), distance herself from her husband and her pack from his rule, and discover who is the traitor among the werewolf forces―united under the Lycan King―, before a war between the shifters (werewolves against werefoxes and werebears) begins. All this while remaining gorgeous, and super stylish, and―did I mention absolutely gorgeous?
Despite the cheesiness of the obsession with Ria’s appearance and the embarrassingly identical sex scenes, I liked the premise of this book. Ria is a very strong character, who uses her position to build a better world for women, fights her own battles, and doesn’t wander around expecting to be saved by her prince Charming. And yet, I can’t really justify Selene’s decision to bring her back to life and give her this second chance. This woman was born with a silver spoon up her ass and whatever she achieved, she managed because of that. To be honest, I feel like Roxanne would be a better candidate to receive such divine help. She wasn’t at all privileged, unlike Ria, yet she was powerful and part of a plan that would improve the lives of werefoxes and werebears in the long run. I understand that Selene didn’t want her special Lycans to go extinct, but since she had the power to bring people back to life, how come she couldn’t simply also bring people back to their senses? Why did she prevent a werewolf genocide just to allow a werefox and werebear genocide instead? That didn’t really make sense to me and made me somewhat dislike the second half of the book. I also feel like all the characters, with the exception of Ria and Gideon, were seriously underdeveloped. They were just caricatures that appeared when convenient to keep Ria and Gideon busy or create the illusion that not everything that happened in this book was about them. Maya, for example, despite being the main character’s best friend, is never even described; and neither is Ash, or even Brayden. Let’s just say that I somewhat disliked that too.
I also have to admit that I wouldn’t have finished the book were it not for Marissa Gilbert, who’s the absolute cliffhanger magician. Her writing wasn’t particularly special (this book felt like a hurried first draft), but the way she ended her chapters never ceased to amaze me, and in the end, she managed to make me obsessed with this book. She definitely knows how to keep her crowd entertained, and I deeply respect that.
Not gonna lie though, despite everything wrong with this book, I actually did enjoy it.
If you are a fan of the strong female leads look no further. Riannon is amazing and strong and will not take any **** from ANYONE. It was lovely to read such a good story when I was really there just for the Spicy content.
This is my favorite supernatural book ever. Rivalled only by its sequel. I couldn’t stop reading it, the plot was so good. The main characters made a lasting impression.
This is book is not your usual werewolf story. Marissa managed to surprise me almost in every chapter of this book and it’s a long one. The whole series is amazing and I am now a big fan. Anything by this author is an instant buy. Rhiannon was killed by her husband’s true mate and was returned back in time to fix her mistakes. She used her second chance well. The revenge is sweet, her true mate is 🔥🔥🔥. The spice in this book ks just right for me. I loved the story and read it at least 4 times now.
I really don't know how this has so many great reviews because it was poorly written. So many typos and grammer errors.
Thanks Facebook ad for getting me invested enough to want to complete. But this was barely completed as well. This was rushed and could have been better served as a series. Too many jumbled thoughts were just thrown on a page. Was this a first draft? So many lines were repeated, can you guess what it was? It's literally the title. Very much convenient writting.
I read this book on Dreame. It's well written, and the MFC is a fighter! She gets a second chance in life to save her loved ones, pack, and herself. The 2nd book in the series, The Luna Trials, is even better.
Content Warnings: sexual content, violence, blood, gore, murder, death, sexual harassment, sexual assault, cheating, gaslighting, and toxic relationships.
Did I spend all day just reading through this Dreame novel? Yes, yes I did.
Though there are a lot of editing issues...I really enjoyed the idea of the story. With a good editor I could see this book easily becoming mainstream popular. Now that I've payed $20 in points to read the first book...I think I'll wait until April when the 2nd book will have a physical edition on amazon 😅 If I'm dropping the money I'd rather know, for a fact, that most of the money is going to the author.
I just want to say : Read This Book! (And The Luna Trials) fall in love with the characters, with the story, with the world ! You will not be disappointed! It's such an amazing read and Marissa has grown with her writing since I first starting reading (which was when this book was I believe not even half way done!) Waiting for chapters were like an itch (lol) and then she dropped one or 2 and it was Fantastic! You will not regret coming into this world! So jump in & enjoy !!
This book was both terrible and captivating. I often skimmed through the dialogue and cringed at the descriptions, yet despite its flaws, I couldn't resist its addictive pull - I just had to know what happened next. It's like it cast a spell on me!
I first found and read this book on the Dreame app and instantly feel in love with the series. There are two other books after this one on the dreame app but I’m hoping there will be more. You follow Rhiannon on a journey of rebirth and betrayal, new love and war, new found friends and destruction. I’m not going to spoil it because it’s definitely worth reading blindly 😍 so why haven’t you read it yet? 😉
I found it hard to put the book down. I had to see it through until the end. Riannon speaks to a lot of women who want to take charger of their own live and not just let others tell her what to do. I felt all the feels reading the book, and you really feel connected to the characters. All the twists and turns that take place will leave you wanting more. Well done! The Perfect Luna is simply that PERFECTION in book form.
Found out about this book on Dreame and knew it would become available on Amazon one day. Purchased my book last week and have already finished. Amazing story with a strong female lead. Love the characters and cant wait to be able to read the next one in the series.
This book should come with a warning. You're not going to want it to end and you're going to be begging the author for more. You'll be hooked from the first chapter. The female lead is strong, confident and badass. The male lead is swoon-worthy. It was so good that I paid a lot to read it on a coin-app, but couldn't wait to get my hands on a physical copy once it was available too. Grab a copy and don't say I didn't warn you about how much you're going to love it!
This book is absolutely incredible. When I first came across this book on the dreame app from this author, I dived right in, and it didn't disappoint. I was literally hooked from the very first chapter. This book has engaging characters and an incredible storyline. This author is just amazing at writing and can't wait until her other books for this series get released on Amazon.
Riannon is the Perfect Luna, and she chose to give her heart to a chosen mate Brayden. Little did she know an Omega, Roxanne, would claim to be his fated and change the course of her future forever. Ria experiences her own death at the hands of none other than Roxy the "sweet and innocent" omega. The Moon Goddess had different plans though and Ria is thrown back to the exact moment her life changed, when Brayden introduced Roxy to the pack for the first time. Now she knows better so she does better, even with her wolf dormant for the time being. The Alpha Lycan King Gideon is intrigued by her when she requests his help to leave Brayden but also protect the people of her original pack. Then when it turns out she is his fated things get even more complicated. There is a war on the brink of happening, one Ria has seen before and is hoping to change the outcome of. Enemies are all around and its difficult to know for certain who is friend or foe. Will Ria be able to save those she loves, will there be redemption for any of those who've wronged her in the past, and will she be able to get her HEA or will it all come crumbling down just as it did in her past life before she got a second chance?
First of all, this is such a beautiful book!! Secondly, it is well thought out and superbly written. I was first introduced to the author via another book (I read the second book in the series before the first) and quickly fell in love with her writing style. “The queen of cliffhangers”, Marissa will have you on the edge of your seat, and what a thrill ride it is sure to be. You are never bored. Once you start, it is hard to put this one down. So, I suggest you carve out some time and invest in some good coffee! Riannon is giving a second chance at life and wastes no time fixing past mistakes and righting wrongs. This ensures not only a better future for herself and those she loves but also gives her a second chance at love. You will love Riannon. She is such a badass and quick as a whip. The supporting characters are also very easy to love, and the MMC… ohhhhhhh, he is just wow!! Gideon is the perfect book boyfriend/husband and does not disappoint. This book is a treasure, it’s unique and filled with everything good romantasy books are made of. I highly recommend The Perfect Luna, so go get your copy! You’ll be glad you did!!!
Strong female lead character, good plot line, not to much smut (nice to find a sci-fi romance series/book that has a actual story/plot line as the main focus)
Highly recommend this excellent read! Perfect combination of love, suspense, action, and of course drama. Our female lead in this book is the perfect luna created to be worshipped by her fated mate. Be warned that once you start, you won't be able to stop until the end, and it will leave you wanting more.
I came across an ad on Facebook n I read the little clip from the book….i was hooked I had to finish read this book. I had never been on Dreame before (where the book was posted first) little did I know that the book was not even finished! It came in like a junkie waiting for a next fix waiting for updates. From start to finish the plot twists and cliffhangers keep you on the edge of your seat and lost in the world created for the book. The Author is very creative with the story line and her characters are so strong all of them could have a book continuing their own individual stories. Honestly it is this book that got me back in to reading for fun. Always said I don’t have time for it but I’m hooked and waiting patiently for the updates for her third book. You won’t be disappointed with this good read ;)
"The Perfect Luna" is an enthralling exploration of a werewolf fiction world, captivating readers with its dynamic and resilient first female character. The author skillfully weaves a narrative that transcends clichés, presenting a refreshing and empowering perspective on the lycanthropic realm. The protagonist's strength is beautifully nuanced, her journey a testament to the author's adept storytelling. Rich in suspense, the plot unfolds seamlessly, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. This book not only embraces the allure of the supernatural but also champions the strength and resilience of its female lead, making "The Perfect Luna" a must-read for enthusiasts of the genre.
Truly a work of art. You don’t need to be into paranormal to enjoy this book (and upcoming) - it is an easy, relatable and enjoyable read. Author masterfully brings her envisioned world to life through words without making it difficult to understand. Humane, difficult decisions and relationships entwined into dream romances and differences. First installment of this series is just a start into much bigger and magical universe. Diverse and powerful characters, antagonists made to be hated and then loved, some painful events leading into bittersweet endings. This book, moreover this series does indeed have it all. (And physical copy is just enormous, heavy, cover soft and sleek - and visuals just breathtaking.)
