Have you ever had the feeling of being watched when you’re alone? Andrea has just moved in to her new apartment after ending a long relationship. She is drawn to the affordable rent and the landlord, Lee, who appears helpful and understanding to someone facing financial difficulties.
Unbeknownst to Andrea, there’s a darker side to Lee. Obsessed with his tenants, he secretly spies on her through a hidden mirror in the bathroom. At night, he sneaks into her apartment and drugs her. Attributing the constant exhaustion to stress, she remains oblivious… until the signs become too glaring to ignore. Andrea grows increasingly suspicious of the apartment and its landlord.
By the time she receives a message warning her to leave, it’s already too late, because Lee has grown too attached to her, and he has no intention of letting her escape.
Yep, just one word can sum up this book. "Beware" of too good to be true housing deals. "Beware" of overly kind and helpful landlords. "Beware" of jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. Most of all when something inside you feels odd "Beware" of your feelings. Good book with a frightening possibility.
Extremely simple plot that is almost described in its entirety in the blurb. But that doesn't mean it's a poor story. The antagonist is totally creepy and frightening, and the acts he perpetrated against the protagonist and his own mother are horrifying to read and think about. As such, the plot is pretty dark and bit of a gross-out to read, in a good way. That saves the book from a negative rating that could easily have resulted from it being so simple and predictable. 3.5 stars.
this was a rough read… the characters have no depth, which is only one case of the author’s amateur writing style. the amount of sexual assault in this book was disturbing and the way it was written only amplified that. would not recommend reading. I would’ve stopped mid book had it not been only 185 pages
This moved fast and is a quick enjoyable thriller with stalker vibes. The writing is not in depth, but for entertainment purposes it was exactly what sounded good to read. What could possibly go wrong with an adorable apartment that is the perfect price? A landlord who has “peeping tom” issues and takes things to a whole wild level.
Read this book in two sittings which speaks volumes. Liked how we knew the truth and could see the psychotic side of Lee and then the false vale of normalcy. Definitely going to read more by this author.
3.5 ⭐️ rounded down! really engaging story and had me hooked from the beginning. some parts were poorly written and were hard to overlook. but overall good read & ending.
I'm sure I've read another story with this same scenario. The ending is different with this one thou. That made it more interesting. The ending is sad though.
