How does Red go traipsing around the Disney Land?
What would happen if the Grandma, clad in her hot pink athletic pants, chased Red around the Disney Land?
The scary fairy tales are on! We got the Red Riding Hood saved by her Grandmom. Of course, being a teen and not in the know, she has got to do some stupid stuff and Granny dearest finally needs saving! What would happen next when the heroes from a bunch of fairy tales start putting their heads together to establish what is happening and how to get over it all?
Q:
My grandmother made about as much sense as politics. You could never guess what would make her say yes or no to something. (c)
Q:
Grandma was oppressive. Manipulative. I loved her, but I needed some space for a few days. (c)
Q:
"Which portal did you use to get here?" he asked.
I moved away a bit. "Portal? I used the front gate if that's what you mean." (c)
Q:
Maybe this guy belonged to some weird fantasy cult, and at one point, Grandma knew them. Maybe they hung around Disney World, and this was the real reason she didn't want me to come here. Why didn't she just tell me in that case? (c)
Q:
But why couldn't I shake this horrible feeling of dread? Something must have happened to me in a past life or something. Maybe I defied authority and got stoned for it. Or burned at the stake. (c)
Q:
"Look," I said. "We're people. We're not annoying animals that are going to come over and crap in your yard." (c)
Q:
This park is a dangerous place for Legends. Portals open in places like this. (c)

Did your grandmother ever tell you she was involved in any weird gangs or anything? …
What kind of cult did your grandmother tick off? (c)

I was so glad we got a bit of continuation from Book 1. I was worried the stories would be standalone. I really like this Little Red Riding Hood story! I’m excited to continue.

An adventure... Im beginning to like this series 💕
January 29, 2017
While the story line was a nice twist with a lot of promise, I found the back story weak and lacking. I don't really like Red, she's not the type of story I can get behind. I thought grandma sounded flat and Tate was boring. The Hunter was weak and pathetic. Some of the world building was interesting, but it feels small and unimportant. Most of Fable feels more like mirrors in this story then the last one. The reflection is all you really get a good idea about, but you don't feel a part of it, you don't feel there.
It wasn't bad... but it wasn't great either. I found myself reminding myself to read it because it needed to be finished instead of wanting to pick it up because the story was on my mind. I'm just not strongly connected to this world, and can't make myself keep dragging forward for the sake of reading the whole series. So I'll call it quits now and find another read that makes me excited.

This second installment of the 'a twisted fairytale' series did a better job of capturing me into the story because I was looking forward to reading more about Fable, the world of fairytales. With the first book I needed to wrap my head around the idea of a re-tellingof a fairytale, since that's not quite my usual genre.
The main character in this book is Red and is written in her PoV. Although the story pics up where Brie's story ended, this book can be read as a stand alone, in my opinion, but the complete series do add an extra layer to the story and add extra details to the world of Fable. I'm curious for the next chapter!

Ever since OUAT (Once Upon a Time the TV series) and with the rise of popularity of werewolf shifter books (which I personally think have oversaturated the market and I’d like to see an end to them already), indie authors have been obsessed with retelling the Little Red Riding Hood story with either Red as a werewolf or as a werewolf hunter, or falls in love with a werewolf shifter. And this story is no exception. With werewolves and shifters involved, there’s a certain level of sexiness expected. This book doesn’t have that either since its target audience is young teens (in fact, there is little romance between Red and her boyfriend beyond just hand holding). Red comes off childish. Alric is a stereotypical villain wearing the standard black cape and sneering every chance he gets. His character has no dimension other than being a cardboard one-dimensional villain. Macon seemed to be in the story mainly to info dump for pages at a time, not to mention it felt too cliché and convenient when they found themselves at a village that had an elder that could just tell them everything they needed to know. Tate was really the only interesting oddball wildcard character, but sadly he didn’t really get to do anything except be emotional support. And then there’s the arcing plot for this book that I’ve already run into in Chanda Hahn’s Unfortunate Fairy Tales series (and T. Rae Mitchell’s Fate’s Fables, though she at least created her own stories in that one). I love the cover on the book currently (too bad she’s never dressed like that in the book. She wears a red hoodie sweatshirt). I did like Thread and Spool. I thought that went in unexpected directions with interesting twists to it, so I haven’t given up on this series yet even though this book didn’t click with me.

I received this e-book in exchange for an honest review.
Summary:
Red's life so far has been under strict rules, put in place by her grandmother. Her boyfriend Tate wants Red to finally defy her grandmother's rules and to the Disney World with him. On the trip Red learns that maybe her grandmother's rules were there to keep safe and the dangers at bay.
A upon arriving at Disney World Red and Tate are swept up in a magical portal and taken to Fable, where Red is a Legend and is needed to help stop Alric's plan of darkening all of Fable. The Fairy Tales everyone grow up hearing about are not always as they seem.
Characters:
Red, thought she was just a normal teenager, but actually she is anything but normal. She is a LEGEND.
Tate, Red's boyfriend, will stand by her no matter what.
Grandmother, raised Red with strict rules, has been keeping secrets from Red
Macon, A Huntsman, that plays an important role in Red's story
Alric, evil magician, shapeshifter, very powerful, wants Red
Final Thoughts:
Another great book in Holly Hook's Twisted Fairy Tales Series. The book is short but action packed and very slows down until you reach the end.
Loved it. Great Fun. Recommend. Love Holly's writing style.

The stories {to do this without spoilers just giving the titles} are 1 Thread and Spool, 2 Wolves and Paths, 3 Frogs and Princes, 4 Towers and Braids, 5 Poison and Mirrors, 6 Swans and Silence, and 7 Glass and Death.
Didn't think about noting down errors, because usually don't expect as many, but this {see below} comes in single and sets, and had a lot of grammar issues, repetitious {as in literally repeated information as if it wasn't proofed right/at all}, and don't feel like going back through this or any of them just to suffer through all the errors and issues again. Could have been better and should have been better. This was the same case in 1 and 2, by 3 was jotting down loads of notes.
There is also The Twisted Fairy Tale Box Set, Books 1-3 (A Twisted Fairy Tale Book 0)
The Twisted Fairy Tale Box Set, #2 (Books 4-7) Kindle Edition
Plus of course each book individually.

Holly Hook does it again in the second book of the Twisted Fairy Tale series! I can't get over how good these books are! I'm happy we have new characters introduced in this second story, but also had a tie in with the first book for a bit.
As one can tell from the title and cover, this second book focuses on Little Red Riding Hood's story. We are introduced to Red and her boyfriend Tate in our world. Thrust into Fable through a portal at Disney World (haha), Red must save her grandmother from the evil Alric by completing her story or she will be lost to the darkness plaguing Fable.
A must read for all fairy tale lovers. I can't wait to read the third book in the series!

An enjoyable sequel to Thread and Spool. Thankfully we did get to see a bit of the MCs from book one, as their story ended way too abruptly. Red and her guys are fun characters on their own, and I do hope to see a lot more of them in the sequels.

Another fun read
This is another fun YA read that doesn't take itself too seriously -you can immerse yourself in the world of Fable. This one takes off from the previous and brings some characters back. It's a great YA adventure. Loved it.

Going into the second book I was searching for "The Twist" and I did not expect it to go down the way it did! A great story with a core of freedom and loving who you are. I would recommend for fans of fairytale retellings and fantasy novels.

A twisted retelling of a true classic fairytale, I enjoyed this one better then the 1st book of the treo. Red riding hood is actually a werewolf what's not to enjoy,. I will be reading the next installment straight away as Im trying to clean up my kindle tbr.

This book is just as good as the first one in blending the modern world and a classic fairytale into something new and different. Put a twist on the tale and you have a book that is fun to read.

3.75 - easy read when you are in a slump. Characters are there but elevates the fairy tale.

I received this book for an open and honest review.
Wolves and Paths is the second book in the series. Red's grandmother has kept her under strict rules since she was little. Red's boyfriend got two tickets to go to Disney and Red knows her grandmother will never let her go so they come up with a plan for a school trip and get Red's grandmother to sign a consent to go. Once they get to Disney, they see Red's grandmother has followed them. Weird things start happening to Red once they are inside Disney and they end up in a hotel room that was given to them by Disney. Grandmother shows up at the door pounding and telling them that they need to leave. It is too late though. The people are there to capture Red and her grandmother. Tate takes Red and they get away after Red's grandmother says to get Red out of there and don't follow. Tate and Red doesn't listen though and follow the people that have took her grandmother. They go back to the main entrance of Disney and walk into something that makes them disappear. Tate and Red get there just as they are gone and there is no way for them to go through it. They have to wait until midnight that next day. They spend the day in the park all day and hide once the park closes. At midnight, they go to the exact same spot and are sucked into another realm and land in Fable, which is a land where fairy tales play out over and over. Tate and Red learn that Aldric has their grandmother held captive and Red has to play out her story to try and save Fable from turning dark. Little does Red know that there is so much more to her story and the things that will happen to her.
I was not sure how I was going to like books based on fairy tales b/c this is so not my genre of reading. I did, however, enjoy the first book to this series. Wolves and Paths though was harder for me to get through. I was not into it as much as Thread and Spool. Wolves and Paths was definitely a good read, but I struggled at times to get through some of the slow parts. I am excited to start the third book to see how this story continues!!!

Wolves and Paths (a Twisted Fairytale #2)
by Holly Hook
Sometimes there's more to the fairy tales than you think... Red has only ever known a life under her oppressive grandmother's thumb and she's struggled all her life to break her fear of rebellion. But when her boyfriend, Tate, wants to take her to Disney World (forbidden by her grandmother) she can't help but break the rules. But maybe her grandmother was right to warn her against the place, because the park is a gateway to another dimension: Fable, where fairy tales are real and things go bump in the night. And now her grandmother has been taken captive by an evil magician named Alric. Red turns out to be the central character in a very scary story, a tale she will have no choice but to act out in order to save her grandmother. Worse, Alric is determined to rule Fable by making all the famous fairy tales fall-and Red is his first target. Red, along with Tate, must venture into almost certain death and learn to break the chains of her fear. But on her journey, Red will learn that even the most famous fairy tales are not always what they seem.
I was given an arc copy in exchange for a fair review.
So this is book two in Holly's twisted fairy tails series I enjoyed this book which was a re telling of red riding hood. You also saw characters from the first book, even thou if you haven't read that it doesn't matter as this can be read as a stand alone book as you have hints from the first book but to get the wider picture is best to read as a series.
One of my favourite fairy tales is red riding hood so part of me didn't want to read this but I also was inticed to see what holly brought to the table and I'm glad I did as I really thought it was good story. The ended as with all fairy tales has ended on a happish note but also left wondering do they return to the normal world or do they continue life in fabe and what has happens to alric? I'm hoping this is answered in the next installments of twisted fairy tales.
Book 3 is out 15 July 2016.

Yet another fantastic book by Holly Hook!
Wolves and Paths follows Red, a young girl wanting to live a free and (perhaps a little) adventurous life only to have those dreams crushed by her over protective Grandmother who forbids almost everything that she wants to do - especially going to Disney-world, the magic kingdom itself.
The adventure Red had hoped for is suddenly thrown at her when her Grandmother is whisked away to a land of magic against her will, forcing both Red and her boyfriend Tate to follow.
Wolves and Paths, the second instalment of the 'twisted fairytale' novels once again leads us to the land of Fable - a world full of magic where our favourite (and not so favoured) fairytale characters live out their stories over and over.
Although the beginning was slow- Holly knew how to keep us wanting more as usual. I loved the interactions between the new characters and the old ones that we read about in 'Thread and Spool' but most of all I enjoyed the story 'Red Riding Hood' told in yet another way. The use of Red and the wolves together as one kept me very eager to learn what was to come next in the story!
I would definitely recommend the Twisted Fairytale novels to anyone who has a soft spot for Adventure, magic, fantasy or even fairy tail stories alone. Fantastic read!

Wolves and Paths is book 2 in Holly Hooks A Twisted Fairy Tale series.
There is always more to the truth with Fairy Tales.
Red has only ever known a life of strict rules, regulations and oddity under her grandmothers care and is never allowed to do anything, fun or otherwise. But when her boyfriend Tate wants to take her to Disney World, she decides to break the rules just this once. But maybe her grandmother was right to forbid her access as they discover a portal to another world where Fairy Tales are real. Her grandmother is now held captive in Fable by an evil magician and it is up to Red to save her, herself and Fable from Evil.
This is a good follow up story to Holly Hooks Twisted Fairy Tale series. I found this instalment much more engaging yen the previous book. This centres around the old Red Riding Hood story, so we meet Red, her grandmother, the wolves, the huntsman and we have a magician orchestrating the whole thing for his own means. It also has some small references to other Fairy Tales like the 3 little pigs.
I liked Reds character and her boyfriend Tate. They were both vibrant and confident characters to read.
All in all, a good story, with a nice spin on the traditional red riding hood story. I'm looking forward to seeing who else we meet in Fable.
I was gifted a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great second book in Holly Hook's Twisted Fairy Tales series. The story follows Red, who has grandmother who won't let her do anything normal kids do. Her boyfriend, Tate, surprises her with tickets to Disney World. She's excited, but has to hide it from her grandmother b/c her grandmother despises anything to do with it and would not let her go. They make it there, after several close calls with Red's grandmother, and end up in a parallel world called Fable. While there, Red learns that she is a Legend and has a story to play out (a fairy tale), but it always ends up badly. (She is reincarnated each time). Her grandmother was taken captive by the evil magician Alric who wants all the fairy tales to fall -- and, of course, Red wants to save her. She and Tate embark on a journey that is thrilling and scary, filled with twists and turns. Especially one twist, which I will not reveal.
This was a great book! So many things happen to Red, and she has tough choices to make. She's a strong character and I really enjoyed reading her story.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Red leads a sheltered life with her grandmother. She never understand the reasoning behind her grandmothers rules, and chalks it up to unfortunate quirks that she's forced to abide by. But when her boyfriend surprises her with a surprise trip against grandma's rules, Red's entire world is flipped upside down. Red and her boyfriend, Tate, find themselves stranded in Fable with no way home.
I truly love the premise behind Holly Hook's books, and this series. I love the new twist she takes on the fairy tale world, and the look we get into lesser known fairy tales with these stories. I think my only critique is that Red and Tate seemed fairly ordinary and predictable. I didn't ever feel like I understood these characters well. I can't wait for the next installment in those series, as Ms. Hook never fails to disappoint her readers with an unpredictable detail or plot twist as you read.

This was the second book I've read in this "series." First was about the story of Rumpelstiltskin. This one is Little Red Riding Hood. Loved the twist on this. The beginning felt a bit slow, but my interest peaked when Red, Tate and Macon went into the woods. Didn't see the one plot twist coming! Loved that surprise! There was one thing that annoyed me. Certain details would get repeated. I thought to myself, I know that already. It's been mentioned several times prior. Other than that I loved it!! It did end with an opening. So that has me eager to find out what happens to Tate. Also, to me it seems as if there could be some chemistry between Russet and Red, leaving Tate to go back to reality?
I received this book in exchange for my honest review. This in no way influenced my opinions.

I received an early copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I am so glad I read this book. It went by quickly though. The twisted retelling of the classic Little Red Riding Hood tale was a fun read. I found myself involved in the characters quickly and wondering how they ended up where they did and why. The "inter-world" or "inter-dimensional" travel between our modern and the storybook realm was also different those I have encountered in the past. So even if you can recite the many versions of this classic fairy tale by heart or you just know the basics this book is worth your read. It left me wanting more and I am now reading the other books in the series. I hope you enjoy following Red on her journey to not only rescue her family but to Lear who she is and her strange past.

I received an ARC from the author and have chosen to review it. This is the second book in the Twisted Fairy Tale series and I am really enjoying the twists that the author has taken with these characters that we are so familiar with. This story takes place not long after the events of the first book. This stories fairy tale is Red and she is thrust into a quest when she goes through a portal to Fable to save her grandmother. Some of the first characters that she meets once coming to Fable are Brie and Stilt who you met in the first book. I really enjoyed reading this book because it starts not long after the first one ends and you get to see the consequences of the actions of the main characters from the first book. I really liked how the story continued along the same lines with a new set of main characters. I really enjoyed this book I can’t wait to read another one.

Ms Hook brings us twisted version of Red Riding Hood with Red and Tate as or main characters. Red learns of her other life that she has been hidden from and meets a few friends along the way. A great read carries the story with strong characters and a few chuckles filled with excitement and page turning intrigue. While life and death are escaped at every turns strong new friendships are made and old enemies are defeated. Red learns all there is about her past but more importantly about the power she yields and shares with those she loves. On her magical journey as she overcomes and battles thru each obstacle will it be enough, is she strong enough, only time will tell. A great story of learning to accept who and what you are and making the best of all things. An awesome read.

I got an arc for an honest review.
Wow Holly never fails to entertain with her stories. And her retellings of fairytales are awesome.
In Wolves and Paths Red is a girl who can't do anything a normal girl would be seen doing because her grandmother is very strict. When Reds boyfriend Tate gets tickets for them to Disney World she goes. A after a close call at the airport with her grandmother they get to Disney World only for her grandmother to find them and then get taken to Fable. With the help of old and new characters Red goes on a quest with Tate to find and save her grandmother from Alric. This is a classic Holly Hook story with twists and adventure I can't wait to read the next installment of this series.
