This was an amazing read, and I highly recommend it to all those who would call themselves, Men of God.
“You acknowledge the fact that Scripture distinctly singles out sexual immorality as an egregious sin with grave consequences, you dare to examine yourself to see if you are genuinely a Christian (2 Corinthians 13:5; 2 Peter 1:10), and you determine that on the day of judgment, you do not want to be an ‘I wish I would have’ person but an ‘I'm glad I did’ man.”
This book offers really practical advice for fighting against lust and other such temptations. Because of its focus on the gospel, much of the book applies for the broader Christian life as well. This book is definitely one that's worth reading again.
If the book consisted of just chapter 24, NOPE, it would be a five-star rating. I love E.Z. and his preaching, but I fear his writing became a little wordy. Not bad, but it seemed to take away from the impact of what chapter 24 laid out simply. In the real fight of battle, all of his six C's and his alliterations easily are outweighed, unfortunately, by my evil mind. BUT NOPE remains in my mind and is just the immediate remedy a sick mind needs to immediately quench the growing fire of lust! Well done, E.Z.
This book has been very impacting for me on my journey. I would highly recommend to any man that needs a practical guide in the arena of purity.
On a different note, the author has a tendency to write like the Apostle Paul. What I mean by that is that he has very long, wordy, and meaty sentences. I don't mean to say that this is a bad thing but I often found myself rereading sentences in order to fully grasp the concept. However, this could also be attributed to my short attention span.
Nonetheless, a quality read and well worth my time!
Every man must read this book. The power of lust and sexual sin is a real battle for many men. This book will strategise and give you the battle plans to be victorious over the world, flesh and the devil.
