Tori has always been terrified of commitment, can they change her mind?
As the favored omega daughter of a narcissistic pack, I was set up with more potential alphas then I could count. My only job was to smile, be a lady, and let them claim me.
There was no way that was ever going to happen.
I’d seen how packs manipulated, lied, and cheated. I wanted no part of pack life. Being a lone omega who visits clinics during her heat and enjoys the perks of single life is enough for me.
Yet the scent match I found by accident and ran from isn’t about to let me go.
And the men my sister hired to protect me from him? They’re my scent matches too.
It seems fate is no longer letting me run, but I don’t know if I can let go of my defenses and truly let them in…
This is book five in the Jaded Omegas series. There are mentions of past trauma that this pack works through together.
Jarica is an American author. She prefers writing paranormal and fantasy books. When she isn't writing she is playing her xbox with her husband and fellow nerd. She has two crazy boys who make writing a challenge, but one she gladly accepts.
Tori should 't have forgotten the guys so quickly! Easton was a total ass but still she "needed him". Just because the guy did some renovation, he became suddenly likeable???🧐 The drama around Tori, her father, and her ex wasn't enough described. We had some glipses but not enough in my opinion. I thought some times that she was overreacting in some ways.
Knot Your Ex, book 5 of the Jaded Omegas series, by Jarica James. @jaricawrites is a newer author for me that I am loving. Please read the trigger warnings!
I liked this book about Tori, Warren, Felix, Theo, Jordan & Easton! I would have preferred more interaction between Tori & one of The Alphas. Tropes: Contemporary, Omegaverse, Male & Female Omegas, Grumpy Alpha, Alphas, Beta, Build A Single Pack Around Both Omegas, Found Family & HEA!
Knot Your Ex is the fifth book in the interconnected standalone series, Jaded Omegas. It is a why choose, fated mates, slow burn, omegaverse romance.
Tori, Warren, Felix, Easton, Theo, and Jordan have a rough go at it. Due to trauma inflicted by her parents, Tori has major commitment issues. So, needless to say, these characters have to really work for their HEA!
I loved this story and the characters. The writing, flow, and pace are terrific, as are the storytelling, storyline, characters, character development, relationship development, and world building. I would absolutely recommend this book and series.
For the most part, I did enjoy this book and the story in general.
Like the other books, each Omega FMC fights their own trauma and has to work through it. Same with some of the guys that are meant to be part of the pack.
And with Tori it wasn't any different. She has experienced a lot of terrible things. Her alpha father is/was abusive towards her and used her for his own gain and the man, he forced on her to marry, wasn't any better.
Though, what she exactly happened was mostly left to our imagination, instead of actual recounting everything in detail. Only vague details, like that she was threatened and forced to do things.
The same is said for most of the guys too. Other than Felix, they all had a bad family background with general details, but without much of deeper explanation.
Still, most of the book was about the trauma and the less than stellar relationship building. Meaning, mostly nothing is really happening at all between Tori and her guys. And they don't progress in the story. Everything is focused on the trauma and the threat of the stalker.
While I love, that there is focus on trauma and the importance to heal and find your happiness, the story was difficult to follow. I liked reading it, yet at the same time, I felt bored, because there wasn't really much going on, besides some break ins and some interactions with the guys, that sometimes revealed more information, but not truly changed anything.
And the guys really did get a different time spans of attention. We had the most attention on Felix and Warren. They are actually the only two, who even shared a kiss with her until the 70% mark into the book. Second were Theo and Jordan. Though, the focus was on the conflict between them and Easton and then them slowly getting closer to Tori. But mostly in a more friendly and attentive way. But no kisses. And Easton, other than his bad attitude towards Tori, did have the less time spent with her.
That was a bit sad. Because I didn't truly see relationship building or ways of how the guys grow together into a pack.
So, only when the book hit the 70% milestone, she did a 180 with Felix and Warren. Meaning, the first smutty time with those two. Really random. One moment, Felix wanted to cook her lasagna, and then she is on her knees for Warren and they moving it into the bedroom. But no movement with the Easton, Theo and Jordan.
Only after her father visited and Jordan played the part to get him off her and that she isn't alone with him, some things changed. And I mean more: The story was rushed to the finish line. He and Theo declaring intent of being with her, and the next moment we have a one-week time jump at 80% of the book to explain the closeness and the next bonding. The same with Easton. She made up with him without him having to grovel at all. Then another week time jump, the threat is dealt with in a short manner (after all the build up) and she goes into heat and the last bonding happens.
I was disappointed at that. The story was written constantly and with great detail on the trauma process, inner monologues and struggles, but the relationship building felt like second to that and rushed through.
Not even that, but throughout the story, I had several instances, where I got really confused. Like looks changed. One time it was mentioned Warren had blond hair, but the first time she saw the stalker, she thought it was Warren and he had dark hair. It wasn't even really explained, why William did go such lengths to stalk her at all. Felix was first said he had blue eyes, then later on it was hazel. Or when her father left the apartment. It was the first time there was the mentioning of an elevator. It was never even mentioned, how the complex was set up. So, the whole time I thought, it were ground-level apartments. Until the mentioning of the elevator.
So, because of all those reasons, the story didn't feel right to me, and I wasn't satisfied. Which is why I give it 4 stars.
We really did not spend enough time with the characters for it to feel cohesive and fleshed out. Felix's omega side was not explored enough. When was his heat? Does he go into heat? What is his relationship to Easton and Theo? There definitely was not enough spice. I say this BECAUSE the spice helps us understand character dynamics in stories such as these. We never got an actual scene with Felix with his alpha mate (manbun whatever his name was). That dynamic was important but not really explored. The story felt very disjointed with abrupt chapter changes that skip ahead or change perspective after key moments. For instance, Tori shows up at Warren's door (a HUGE plot development), asks him out on a date then the next chapter skips ahead a week and apparently the date hadn't happened yet and when it did, we didn't follow them on it for long. I think Tori and Warren disappointed me the most. I haven't read any of the other books in the series but this was marketed as a standalone. We as the audience really should've spent time with Tori and Warren. How did they meet? Apparently they had been intimate but we hear nothing about that. Her ghosting him would've been so much more impactful if we'd been there for their meeting a d relationship development. And poor Theo. He draws. That's about all we know about him. And when he finally finally has a spice scene Tori is distracted the entire time and immediately unsatisfied so an alpha has to step in. JUSTICE FOR THEO! Felix is by far my favorite character. Despite his small stature and frame he is fiercely protective of those he loves. He did not stand for bad behavior and called everyone out. Those were the best parts of the book imo. Seeing Tori's progression and growth into a woman who understands her worth was a great touch. She learned to also stand up for herself and nobody got a pass from her either. When Characters messed up, she called them out and didn't brush it off. Instead she acknowledged that the behavior was hurtful and told them to show her they were sorry instead of just saying it. Gold stars for her. We had POV from everyone except Easton. It would've been interesting to see his motivation and rationale from his viewpoint. And linking his behvior back to a single incident cut everything a little short. Overall, this had potential but unfortunately really missed the mark.
"Knot Your Ex" is the latest standalone in the Jaded Omegas series, with Tori at the center while her scent matches show up in the quiet village we all love so much.
If you've read the previous books in this series, you'll know what to expect in this standalone. There are fated mates, parts where you have a hard time believing in coincidences, characters with a big heart, and everything you'll expect when reading a contemporary omegaverse. Besides all that, this series is also known with reluctant omega's who are all in once the walls around their hearts start crumbling down. It helped me to have read the previous books before starting this one, because otherwise the relationship building might have gone too fast for me. But it's kinda how this series works.
I like the connections between all these different packs, the sisterhood between the female omega's and the feeling of a giant found family. If I knew where this place was, I might consider moving there to have drinks with these girls as well...
A reluctant 5 stars only because this book pales in comparison to the sheer heart-wrenching emotion and love stories of the previous few books. I was going to give it 4, but didn’t want to base my review off of the series’ previous books, letting it stand by itself instead. Alone, it’s a great, relatively short omegaverse story about an omega with a boatload of trauma and the pack that ends up loving her. I do think Easton’s redemption arc was far too quick - dude was a Texas-sized d!ck and I would have liked more time devoted to him becoming less so. Maybe a more thorough commentary on their time in the military would have been good too. The stalker thing was also a little trite, all things considered - does everyone and their brother have one in this town? Do I?
I look forward to continuing to read this author’s work, especially books like the first few in the Jaded Omegas series. This one was my least favourite of the bunch, but was no less endearing in the end.
Tori was always held back from her dreams by her father and his demands. Once she finally had enough and moved to Lockwood to be closer to her siblings and hide from her fated mate things seemed to go down hill for her. She struggled to find work and was always afraid that the alpha who attacked her would find her. When she starts finding her fated mates one by one it’s a rough start because she can’t trust anyone.
I was blown away by Tori and her refusal to become a victim and refusing to fall into the role her father was right in force her into. It took a see broken men to help heal her brokenness and help her achieve her dreams. These books are all so good!
I feel like this could have been so much better if it was longer. At like 70 percent I started to get a little anxious because there was still so much to wrap up. As I kept reading the anxiety got worse and I thought maybe there was plans for this to be a duet because obviously they couldn’t resolve the issues with the stalker and their relationship issues by the end of the book but that was not the case. Everything ended pretty hastily. Like everything with the stalker was so weird why would he all of a sudden just be waiting for her when she came back with all of the guys? That doesn’t seem like something a stalker would do especially one that has been sneaking around. Also there was absolutely not enough groveling.
I was happy to see that these Jaded Omegas have an ending. I’m sure everyone in Lockwood is accounted for. My only real issue is that Ellie and Micah never knew all Tori had been through. Also, there was a reference to an issue with a trust fund and then the dad brought it up and then she in the end was able to use it but there was never mention to why there was ever any doubt as to why she couldn’t use the trust fund and what had happened that allowed her to be able to use it. Her coupling with Theo and Easton was rushed. There was so much at the start of the book that was rather redundant and then when you finally wanted to see them work together suddenly we were jumping weeks ahead. Overall it was fine and a good ending to the series.
I was in a deep and detailed series and I needed to get away from it for a bit so I grabbed this story, I’ve read all (?) of the rest in the series so I was surprised this one snuck out without me knowing! Love the characters. Tori is a bestie for life!! I also like that while there was some steam it wasn’t crammed into every chapter. Although it seems like the book was rushed to an ending… maybe Ms. James had researched a deadline or had other commitments? Either way it was good. Now I’m thinking I may want to to go back and read the rest in the series again! lol just wanted something a bit lighter and sweet, omegaverse is so good for that! Happy Reading Friends!
This was just such a good story. We are back in this quaint little town to meet back up with Tori. If you’ve read the other books in this series, then you know who she is. You also know what a POS her father is. Honestly I’d love to give him swift kick in the teeth. I have absolutely loved the relationship between Tori and her new mates. What I loved really was showing what can happen when someone, or rather, multiple someones can unsuspectingly break down your walls and make you a better person.
I absolutely loved this omegaverse. I really can't get enough of them and this one is so good. The guys where mostly sweet but some took some convincing being stuck in their old habit but finding out things are different than they seemed. Tori found a scent match but ran from him. However unbeknownst to her and to him as well he ended up to her hiding place. He already has am omega Felix but can't let her go. Tori however finds herself attracted to her new security detail but not all are on board. I love that it took some time being a pack. Two omegas in this one and I love it!
I adored watching Tori get her HEA. She had a painful, traumatic past because of her manipulative father, leaving her hesitant to form bonds with anyone except her friends. Finding her scent match just left her running until she couldn’t run anywhere else. I loved how this one had lots of moving parts, but they all came together perfectly. I wish there was a little more development with all of the pack members, but the guys were really sweet even if they didn’t always express it well. Felix, the second omega, was SO feisty, and I wish more male omegas were written with that much fire!
This book was choppy and bouncy. She was collecting mates from different packs and I found it hard to keep up who was from where. I also think dealing with the trauma all at once was confusing at best. This was by no means a bad book. I finished it in one sitting. Its just not my thing. I gave it four stars cause I got confused. I wanted to love this book like I love some of the others. This author's great and I will continue to read anything she writes.
I have loved getting to see the growth of the characters at the heart of this series over these books. Tori’s story is no exception. I was wanting her to get her happy ever after. Easton was tough to tolerate for a while. He does redeem himself but everyone coming together seemed to happen very quick towards the end. I enjoyed the story I just wish we would have had more of them all together. Still love this series and all the pop ups from past characters.
Can’t Get Enough of Lockwood!!! We are finally getting Tori’s story!! Poor girl was silently suffering back at home and boy was she traumatized. I wouldn’t want anything to do with Alphas either but in true Ms James fashion, Torie meets the perfect pack to piece her back together. Loved the angst between Tori and Easton. I would have liked a little more grovel from him lol but he did end up redeeming himself. I’ve loved getting to know Lockwood and these characters. Please read trigger warnings.
A very slow-burn addition in this soft OV romance series.
There were some additional POV chapters, but the book was generally from the perspective of the FMC. She was a good character and had some nuance to her along with some good growth throughout the book. Once again the MMCs backstories were a little glossed over, we understood their trauma but didn’t delve into it and their growth was very quick.
I enjoyed this shorter story in the series and I’m looking forward to the one character’s story that we keep getting glimpses of, but we still don’t know everything!
I loved the storyline of this book about how the main character had to finally believe in herself to be able to let her packmates in and all the different backgrounds and struggles each member of the pack went through to get to where they are today.
I would recommend this book series for people who enjoy reading the omegaverse reverse harem books.
I can't help but get excited for each addition to this series as James always does a fantastic job at giving us awesome Omegaverse stories with plenty of emotion. Knot Your Ex follows Tori, an omega who due to past trauma genuinely struggles to trust and ultimately commit to others. Tori runs from a scent match but ends up finding so much more. This story has a lot of ups and downs but the HEA is so worth it!
Wanted to give this more stars but just couldn’t. Loved the storyline but the pack dynamics were odd. Tori was intimately involved with all of the alpha’s but Felix only had one? That didn’t sit right with me. Plus there wasn’t much time of them actually being a full pack. It got rushed and it felt like things were just missing, not leaving you with questions but it just felt like there should have been more.

Wow! This. Book really really me in, very quickly. The story was well written, and the END was totally believable. She has gone through so much, but come out of all the mess quite brilliantly! All her mates are well matched to her, although Easton took his time to come around to her. It just goes to prove that saying, never judge a book by its cover! I would tell people to read this book! I'm going to read her other books now.
I like Tori, and I like some of her mates, but the story was rushed in places, the pacing was off, and I couldn't but the turning over off a new leaf for a certain alpha. Not to mention, there were a lot of little writing mistakes and places where the story made no sense with the words used, though the idea she's trying to get across is clear enough. I've finished this series, I probably won't read this author again. YMMV Happy reading!
Knot Your Ex is the fifth book in the Jaded Omegas series. It is a standalone book and you do not have to read any of the prior books before reading. Please check trigger warnings before reading as this book mentions past trauma. This book was an Amazing read and I really enjoyed it. This story focuses on Tori's story and her guys. I'm excited to read more from this author.
Brilliant five star read again in this Omegaverse series. I've been so intrigued by Tori in previous books in this series and I was so excited to read her book. Once again I was completely hooked and I loved every second of this book. The guy's were all so yummy and I'm so glad Tori and her guy's got their HEA they all deserve.
I really the Jaded Omegas universe. It’s sweet without being completely insta-love. I love that the Omegas are strong and fierce, and even quick to stand up to their Alphas. I really like push and pull In romance novels and I have yet to be disappointed by this series.
I’ve been waiting for Tori’s story ever since reading both her brother and sister’s stories. Their parents are just wrong in the head, especially their dad. Tori has suffered so much at their hands, she’s decided to never pack up. Being alone forever is preferable to being terrorized and controlled by Alphas. She’s so abused when she meets her scent matches, running is the only answer for her. I absolutely loved watching this pack form and teach Tori exactly how worthy and lovable she is. 💜
UPS and downs galore, but ends the right way. It was a feel good story from beginning to end with a touch of the heavy with out it ever becoming overwhelming. Loved the friendships included in the main and side characters displayed in this story. I really hope that this series continues!!! Or has spin offs.
This was a pretty good read. I wish she wouldn’t forgive a certain alpha. She did way too fast. Trauma isn’t an excuse to be cruel. But it was a good read. And this author is one of my most reads. Of course this has m/m because this author don’t know how to write without it. But I liked it. A good read.
I liked this series, but this book fell short. Author kept forgetting and changing little details, like Felix’s dad was a lawyer but later he was a handyman. There was no real character progression or soul to this book and it had a really unsatisfying conclusion to the stalker. Overall I was just left disappointed, especially since I liked the other books so much
