This is a lovely example of a Miffy story. It is Miffy's birthday. Simple text and lovely illustrations show Miffy's day from when she gets out of bed to when her birthday is over and she is ready to get some sleep. This has great appeal for the very young, everything is explained in simple steps with nothing surprising or unusual, a reassuring way for very small ones to understand how things happen.

As always the images are beautiful and design conscious.

La historia de unas 20 páginas, ha sido de sensaciones maravillosas, nos ha permitido coger ideas para su cumple ya que he visto todo un universo de Miffy tanto en decoración como en artículos para fiestas de cumple. Candela tuvo una reacción inesperada que me sorprendió mucho, al terminar de leer quisó ir a su cama al igual que transcurre en el cuento, por lo que a parte de divertido, leer a Miffy mezcla la diversión con aprendizaje y por supuesto, se adquiere madurez y compresión lectora, que es lo que adoro. Un conjunto magnífico de sensaciones para seguir leyendo al autor, disfrutar al lado de mi princesa de la lectura y por descontado, lo mejor para regalar en cualquier momento, cumples, sorpresas y con las navidades tan cercanas, es un acierto asegurado!

En conclusión La fiesta de Miffy tiene nuestra máxima valoración, le ha faltado profundidad o un poco de dramatismo, entendible en un libro ilustrado para niños de 3 años, aún así, a Candela le ha encantado descubrir a la pequeña conejita Miffy, le ha alegrado descubrir ideas nuevas para su día especial y ha aprendido que leer es un placer cuando sueña lo que lee.

Miffy is a young rabbit, who understands the benefits of personal hygiene as she places a high importance of a through cleaning regimen, she also understands the importance of the societal pressure to look ones best on their birthday.

Miffy also appreciates her parents birthday wishes, and the gifts they present her with the means of production, in the form of scissors and crayons. Her friends come round and they engage in fun and games, a shiny ball features heavily in the games.

Her grandparents, present helps her understand the burden of parenthood, when they present her with a teddy bear, that she takes care of. They enjoy a proper meal, helping Miffy understand there is a time to put away childish things, before Miffy finally retires to bed, to rest after an eventful birthday celebration.

I guess tonight is the night for lots of little books for children. Here is one from Dick Bruna. This one I have in Dutch, since I got it from the Netherlands and Dick Bruna is actually a Dutch as well. I love his drawings, they are similar to another favorite artist of mine, Keith Herring. In this book there is a little bunny girl who is having a birthday. She gets nicely celebrated by her parents her friends and then her grandparents as well. The cute little bunny girl is thankful and sweet.

Beautiful beautiful.

She wore a dress that showed she was glad!! Her parents decorated her wicker chair with flowers!

I fear reading Mom's stack of Miffy books will induce me into a deep state of baby fever.

Put this up to and in context with My Neighbor Totoro (1988) as a showcase of wonderful parenting and childhood innocence.
