honestly ruby is just as scary as aqua
she's becoming a really twisted character
and i'm here for it

and akane is way too clever
i'm so scared that she is going to get herself hurt or maybe even killed
description
i honestly feel so bad for her
but as the same time as much as i love aqua she deserves better and a part of me hopes that he is pushing her away to protect her

also girl what the fuck are you doing?

i thought you were smarter than this

I can’t stand for best girl, Kana, crying. But then again, Akane and Kana can do so much better than Aqua; Kana shouldn’t waste her tears on him. Also, I feel bad for Akane. She knows everything, yet she’s sacrificing her want to be Aqua’s actual boyfriend (as in both are emotionally invested) to simply be there for him. She’s such a kind person.

I love seeing Ruby get her chance to shine. I’m liking her more and more. But she’s turning into Aqua with the using of people, so I hope she doesn’t descend any further. And the fact that Aqua of all people was shocked and unsettled at Ruby speaks volumes.

Plus, exposing the truth of the TV world was fascinating too. I always knew that it was bad, but it is bad.

I was so surprised to find out that Aqua is obsessed with Kana. I have really mixed feelings about him, so I’m honestly scared for Kana.

Akane understanding Aqua and snapping him back to reality is just what he needed. She knows that he is depending on her like a therapist rather than a boyfriend. I feel really sad for Akane since she does romantically like him, but I’m glad that they are able to support each other… HOWEVER THIS ISN’T TRUE BECAUSE HE JUST HAD TO BETRAY HER TRUST BY PLANTING A TRACKING DEVICE ON HER. WTF. Both people are very perceptive and intelligent, and yet Aqua uses it for emotional manipulation and hurt. I hate seeing Akane hurt. She’s doing all of these things to help him after feeling like she was indebted to him, and he just leaves her in the dust. I don’t care whether he’s glad that he cut contact with her to keep her hands clean.

’When the TV show “Dig Deep!!” faces online backlash, Ruby manages to swing the controversy in her favor to boost her own rising popularity. Sensing someone else's influence in Ruby's sudden attitude shift, Aqua seeks out Ichigo Saitou, missing president of Ichigo Production. Ichigo has his own reasons for wanting to avenge Ai, and to Aqua's dismay, the young actor learns that his own quest for retribution may not yet be resolved...’

This one made me so emotional bc Aqua and then so worried for Kana at the end omg…! 🥺 also, online trolls can go f*ck themselves 🫶

Praise for Aka Akasaka and Yokoyari Mengo for this magnificent series where lies, love, and deception are the core themes of the stories that intrigued us die-hard fans the most in Oshi No Ko!!! 😆

I didn't love this volume as much as I loved volumes 1-9. I'm hoping the next volume is better.
Aqua absolutely screwed up in this volume. So I'm a bit mad at him. Ugh...

This series continues to remain essential reading for American Anime and Manga fans. Not just because of the phenomenal story and amazing art work (those often come off as a bonus) but becasue Oshi No Ko offers a glimpse into the Japanese Entertainment Industry from someone who has experienced it. As the story tries its hardest to present the real life pitfalls of the business, when they touch on subjects such as Cosplay and Doujin, the American audience is often curious about the legal side of these issues. This volume takes the time to dig deep into these elements and how they do affect the creators behind the scenes. Again, this alone should alone be enough to get someone to read it but the compelling drama playing out is just icing on the cake.

This has gone from batshit insane anime nonsense premise to slow showbiz industry exposition and 'takedown'. It's a wild transition for the author to commit to.

At this point I think I am in it for an insider's look into some of the industries that create the content I spend most of my time consuming almost as a general interest non-fiction. I can't say I'm super attached to any of the characters, especially since they seem largely to be there as authorial mouthpieces.

I did enjoy some of the relationship talk as it laid out healthy boundaries. Then I had to laugh as the immediate events put the question forward about acting as lying and actions making it explicit. Touche.

Ruby....RUBY! As I stated in last volumes review, a lot of the other characters are taking more of a central light...and Ruby's quest for revenge is taking a more central light then Aqua's. The characters are interesting and the story engaging...I do have a hard time pushing it beyond 3-stars, but the volumes all consistently entertain and are drawn very well. Aqua's obsession with Kana leaves me a little baffled, but I am sure there is deeper meaning forthcoming in the series. The thing I have come to realize is all the characters (like real life) are flawed...and those flaws will eventually come to light.

Things are out of control and everybody is out here manipulating and controlling each other. Aqua has had a tracker on Akane this whole time, Ruby plotted the whole interview debacle, Akane sets out to kill the man she thinks is the killer, Kana reckons with the fact that she's unsure of why she became an idol, and it's revealed that the killer may still be on the loose. It's a whole lot of plot development for one volume.

Both me and Aqua should have known it would have been too easy if Aquas father and Ai's murder had already died. He's still out there and looks like Aqua. Ruby, on the other hand, feels like she is becoming more like a diva than an idol. Sidelining your idol mates is a bad look, girl. Get it together, Ruby.

A lot happened in this volume. Ruby is actually kind of scary. And I feel so bad for Aqua. I was so worried about Akane. I'm not sure if this is the last we'll see of her, I kind of liked her. Kana is my favorite, though. And I'm so scared at where the volume ended. Honestly, if only a scandal results from it, it'll be a relief. I've already requested the next volume.
