A NEW COUNTRY. A NEW BEGINNING. A NEW TERROR.

American couple Beth and Nate have moved halfway around the world to the Philippines to start fresh. As they prepare to give birth to their first child, the pair seek out a live-in domestic helper for the overburdened Beth.

20-year-old Terri is a do-everything yaya. The simple but enthusiastic country girl is working to send money back home to her family in the province. She’s everything they could have asked for, and more.

But it’s not all sunshine and coconuts for the expats. Beth becomes convinced someone—or something—is targeting her for nefarious reasons. It’s either that or the overactive imagination of a modern Western woman who misses home and is having trouble adapting to her new surroundings.

Or maybe, just maybe, there really is something lurking in the shadows of Beth’s new paradise. She is determined to find out the truth, even if it means diving headfirst into the muddy world of Filipino supernatural folklore. To save herself, her marriage, and her unborn child, Beth will do whatever it takes.

The Philippines has a “It’s more fun in the Philippines.” Sometimes, it can also be more…sinister.

"TONIGHT IT COMES" IS A STANDALONE SUPERNATURAL HORROR THRILLER.

"Tonight It Comes: A Supernatural Horror Thriller" (2024) by Sam Sisavath is a well done, mild horror thriller about a seven-month-pregnant Caucasian woman and her half-Filipino/half-Caucasian male husband who relocate to the Philippines and encounter horror from a female aswang, a seductive, vampire-esque creature that can take human form. Beth finds herself trying to defeat the monster without the support of her husband, who has rejected his Philippine heritage and its superstitions. The supporting cast adds heft to the tale. Solidly recommended.

Wow! a really really enjoyable read!

There are so many things we don’t understand. Multiply them by ten when you’re in a strange country with strange customs. As Sisavath said in another of his books - Adapt or perish!

Play it again, Sam!

I’ve been a fan of Sam’s work since the Purge of Babylon series first came out. His work has interesting plots, great characters, and good, even funny, dialogue; which is hard to do in the horror genre. I’m a GenXer, and love his many social references!
This novel was well-researched, and was a treat in having Filipino folklore brought into a modern setting. Having never traveled there, I got some sense of life in the Philippines. I got to know and care about the characters, and their interactions were believable. I had guessed the villain early on, but that’s only because I am a huge horror fan that scrutinizes everything. It didn’t take away from the story.
