Trapped

Rate this book
Trapped is a horror novella with elements of psychological suspense from author David Scroggins!

A young woman wakes up to find that she has been kidnapped and buried alive. With no recollection of the events leading up to her capture, she must race against the clock to escape before time and air run out.

But is everything as it seems or is the truth more sinister than Sabrina Williams could possibly imagine?

I rarely leave 5 * reviews. It is even rarer on novellas and short story downloads. This book is absolutely a "wow" read. And, even with the errors I noticed that were missed in editing (book was used for boot is one example) - I still found this read exceptional.

This story starts one way and has the reader surmising a few possibilities only to find out - WRONG! I love it that nothing I guessed or concluded ended up being actually what the story was. The whole plot was a twisted twist and flowed well and credibly throughout. This is one of the top three shorts I have read.

A gal wakes up trapped in a box. She has no clue how she got there - in fact, she has no real memory to assist her related to how she arrived at her situation as her last memory is related to a vacation to Egypt.

The short is told from her POV during her captivity and the conclusions she comes to while captive. She dialogues with self in way that makes the reader see her fragile grasp and decline during her time trapped. She comes to believe she will be saved due to some events and she sleeps to conserve energy and air. Her periods of wakefullness come with a little bit more information each time until she is eventually awake and alert. What happens while she comes fully lucid brings a twist related to her capture. It also sets forth the huge twist related to the rest of the story when she gets her hands on a file of information. Cannot say more or will give a spoil and I don't want to do that.

Since I seem to be reading my way through new authors' novella, Trapped fitted right in. Fun read, it starts off like Ryan Reynolds' movie Buried but then turns into something quite different and has a nice twist to surprise and/or throw off the reader. Recommended.
