It has succeeded in bringing back memories that I've been witnessing.

Fun Fact:
Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law are real stories in real life; they both always had stereotypes, you know. And let me tell you that's true. Not everyone experiences this rare opportunity, but a person I know did.

POV from this book is alternate from Ethan, Charlotte and Anna. And also divided into three parts of the story.

Part One
The first part of the book is more about building the tension from each character, and I learned through this first part that no one is an angel in here, like every character has their own dark side. A lot of bickering and upsetting things keep happening in here; even the smallest things will make these characters upset.

His mother (Anna) is indeed the worst. She is a paranoid, manipulative, accusing, and an absoulute nightmare in your life.

His wife (Charlotte) is none better (I guess this guy didn't have any luck); at first, I thought her character would be like an innocent and good one that have been wronged by his mother, but NO. She's just an upgraded version of his mother. So at some point they're the same but different (you get that?).

Our guy (Ethan) huh😮‍💨... he is hopeless. Standing there between his mother and his wife can not decide which side he should take. I totally get that you can never take sides in this case. But at least you should know when to keep your mouth shut, so you don't make the situation worse. (Whenever I read his POV I kept saying "No No No.. you stupid shut up")

Till the end of Part One, I don't get any clues on what his mother is hiding, what her true color is, or why she's so obsessed with her own son. The author still keeps you guessing.

Part Two
Oh no...  I thought I would get something from this part, but the drama was still there.

His mother turned Charlotte against Ethan. She's psycho at this point. And I'm getting tired of Anna being a drama queen and fuck all of those things that she caused

The synopsis said, "Charlotte discovers a hidden family secret." (I reread the synopsis again to make sure I saw it correctly.) But let me tell you, that's still not happening until the end of Part Two.

Part Three
Finally, the secret is here. I kept guessing till the end, like, "What's going on with this vindictive bitch?"

The answer is not something that I saw it coming, but I did sense it. However, it's still shocking.

MY THOUGHTS:
•There are some language errors, such as typos and grammar mistakes. (I received this as ARC so could be not the final one)

•The story started slowly for me because there were a lot of details. Some of them are unnecessary and can be cut so we can get to the secret faster.

•Some twists (not the main one) are predictable to me.

•For me, this story is mostly focused on mother-in-law, so it takes ages to get to the synopsis itself. I sighed a lot during this time.

•But on the other hand, the author succeed in bringing this mother-in law's tale, some things are indeed happening in the real life (once again I'm one of the witness, so i fully understand about this situation). Is hard okay, once your in law hate dislike you then It goes round and round every time things go south, and you're the one to blame (not her son and never will be).

Everyone's worst nightmare- a crazy mother-in-law!

I swear I've been trying to read all of my ARC in order by archive date, but somehow this one slipped by. I guess I thought it said Aug instead of April 8th. My Bad! But I still managed to finish the novel right on the archive date. Given I did stay up until 3 am to finish it.

This was a decently-paced novel that could be easily finished in one sitting. With that being said, the story didn't offer anything new. I had just read a similar book The Other Woman back in November. Maybe that's why I wasn't as drawn into the story as I could have been. I felt like The Other Woman managed to pull more feelings from me.
Additionally, I didn't care for the characters. The characters were unlikable and superficial. I wanted more depth. Charlotte (protagonist) was too impulsive and weak. If she had been stronger or more cunning, I would have enjoyed the story a lot more.

Overall, a decent read.

***Thank you to NetGalley, J.A. Andrews, and BooksGoSocial for graciously sending me the ARC to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***

Love the cover. Right from the start you know this is gonna be a monster in law from hell.
Told from the 3 main characters points of view with 3 parts to the story. Good writing and 1 typo. All characters are well written .It took me a while to fully get into ethan's character as there were times when i felt he was just unrealistic but it was very true to life. I like the way that the past was drip fed. I did gueese the twist early on.
The tension was good. There were tines when i felt the plot was going a different way. The story was relatively short and part 1 seemed a little slow. The final twist was good but the story seemed to be over a lot quicker it was a dramatic finish which i wasnt expected. I didn't want the story to end.
This us a good solid 4 stars. Highly recommended novel worth sticking with . Really enjoyed this.
Thank you net gallery and bookshosocial for my arc.

Anna is a widowed mother who loves her adult son Ethan but when he falls in love with then marries Charlotte she isn’t sensed to keep the peace her façade shows an awkward but nice lady who just cares for her son but inwardly the reader knows she is obsessed unhealthy and borderline demented Charlotte does her best to appease her mother-in-law but she also has an intense dislike for her and Ethan is stuck in the middle trying to make both of them happy when the couple get evicted for noise complaints sent to the landlord Anna insist they move in with her this is when the twisty roller coaster ride of craziness begins an OMG what a book! Oh yes I forgot to mention Anna is a hospice nurse and that’s important as well as far as thrillers go this was a fun demented read with twisty turns and an ending I knew was coming but not the way it did. I totally get this book 5 stars I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it. I received this book from NetGalley and a publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this ARC.

This was a deliciously suspenseful novel about a manipulative and obsessive mother, with nothing but disgust over her new daughter-in-law. There were many times throughout the book where I strongly believed that the couple, Ethan and Charlotte, were nothing but toxic together and just needed to move on from each other already, even though they had just married. After reading though, I believe they were nothing but happy in love with each other and even happier after ridding of their mother. It wasn't their fault they were put through so much in such a short period of time and didn't get to enjoy their honeymoon phase, but instead the mother's fault for being controlling, manipulative and eager to have her son stay by her side always.

While it moved at a slow speed, the ending was very exciting and hard to put down. While some parts through the book we're almost predictable, I was not expecting the twist and turns towards the end and how Charlotte managed to save the day. It is no secret that not everyone is a fan of their in-laws, but this story just goes to show how blood is not always thicker than love.

This was a great read and I really enjoyed it for being my first ARC that I have completed. It was written well, albeit a few typos and grammatical errors, which I didn't really mind due the solid story line and exciting dialogue. Definitely worth the read!

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Tension, suspense, unreliable narrators…this book is just what any thriller lover wants to read! Charlotte and Ethan are newlyweds, but Charlotte has a lot of doubts about Ethan's mom, Anna. She seems overly controlling and manipulative. But from Anna's side, she's just looking out for her son. After all, she's always been his mother and the number one woman in his life. But as true colors start to come out, the levels of deceit and manipulation run deeper and deeper. Who will come out on top in the battle for the top place in Ethan's heart?

The tension between the characters was built up really well in this book. I feel like it needed the slightly slower beginning to really create the setting for all of the conflict that happens later in the story. The characters were well developed, and the main plot twist was not what I thought it was going to be.

Overall, this was a great book and I really enjoyed reading it!

The plot. The manipulation. The freaking tension between the MCs.

This book in separated into three different parts and it has three povs, Charlotte (daughter in law), Ethan (son), Anna (mother in law).

I liked the way it was separated into three parts Beacause, the first part, creates the tension between the characters, the second part, is where it really starts and the third part, is where it ends.

The plot, the writing was so good, I could feel the tension through my kindle.

First, I want to thank JA Andrews and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

DANG!!!! I wouldn’t wish this Mother In Law on even my worst enemy!!! She is pure EVIL!!! JA Andrews is back and better than ever with his 6th psychological thriller His Mother’s Lies!! I have been a HUGE fan of his since his first book Mummy Boy and I can firmly say this is his best work to date!!! This is a definite must read, go out and buy, and put it to the top of your TBR list as it is a 5 star read!

In my career of book reviewing I don’t think a character has pissed me off as much as Anna did! She is truly a sick, twisted, mentally ill woman with major issues!! The way she treated Charlotte was so wrong on so many levels! How Ethan couldn’t see how deranged she truly was is beyond me!

There were many in-depth, intense, tensionful and suspenseful scenes that had me literally biting my already short nails! His Mother’s Lies were jam packed with unthinkable acts, secrets, lies and omg the revelations at the climax of the book were unimaginable!!!

JA Andrews deals with some heavy topics that I will be honest was hard to read on a Mother’s Day Weekend as it will pull hard on your heartstrings!

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate JA Andrews and his partner Gary Mullen for getting married! I’m incredibly happy for the two of you-and pray your Mom In Law’s are NOTHING like Anna!

His Mother's Lies is a gripping psychological thriller. It has triple POV. The reader gets to see Charlotte's perspective, Ethan's (her husband) and Anna's (her mother-in-law). We can read how each of them thinks. It's really a page turner and you just can't stop reading it. I finished it in less than 24 hours, while I was working.

So, Charlotte and Ethan is a couple. But Ethan's mother can't share her son with another woman. The book has three parts. At the first part, we get to know the characters before the marriage. At the second we see what happens right after the marriage. And last but not least, at the third part we have the ending and how things escalate. Finally, secrets are revealed and the plot twists don't stop.

It's a gripping thriller! I really felt a lot like Charlotte and honestly, it reminded me of past situations. Many times a man to son relationship has issues and isn't that healthy. And I think a lot of women have experienced it. Certainly, I haven't read anything similar to this before and I totally liked it! The only thing I didn't like was the writing in some pages, because I felt like I was reading a draft.

If you're into psychological thrillers, then I suggest you read J. A. Andrews!

Thank you, Net Galley and BooksGoSocial for the opportunity! This is my honest review!

If you think your Mother in Law is horrible, read this book. Anna is the epitome of a truly sinister Mother in Law, and I'm sure whomever you're imagining, Anna is much worse.

Written from the triple POV of Anna: the Evil MIL, Ethan: the son, and Charlotte: his bride, and broken into three parts, the author did a great job of making the reader aware of the tension between this trio. From the manipulation, deceit, lies , and unreliable narrators, His Mothers Lies is a thriller lovers book.

Despite what I felt was a slow start in Part 1, looking back I understand it was to really grow the tension and character build the sheer evil that is Anna. Where some parts were predictable, the big twist definitely was not! Overall it was a quick & easy, suspenseful read.

Thank you to NetGallery for this ARC.

A tension filled physcological thriller that has a surprise ending. Ethan is Anna's little boy and she doesn't want to let him go. When he falls in love with Charlotte and marries her Anna is devestated to say the least and she will stop at nothing to get her boy back. Talk about mother in law from hell nothing will compare to Anna! I could literally feel the suspense and tension leaking through my kindle while reading this book. It's unlike anything I've read before. I kept trying to guess what Anna would do next and every time I was wrong and it was always worse than what I imagined. The ending really hit me hard as I was not at all expecting it. A gripping physcological thriller that I loved and I think all physcological thriller lovers will enjoy!

Where do I start with this delightful book? Do I start with the world's worst threesome, a mother-in-law? Or just tell you how incredible this writer is at hooking you in and making you want to continue to keep reading? Well, let's start with the good, shall we?

The plot of the book is simple. What if your mother is so evil, that she obsesses over you and your life to get you back home? Well, this mother, Anna, is as evil as they come. She even goes as far to call her son on his wedding day to ruin the best part of the wedding, the consummation. This mother is hell bent on ruining her daughter-in-laws relationship with her son so much that she may even kill to get what she wants or make up another crazy lie.

I am going to be fully honest with you. This might be the best book of this year, so far. The way the writer gets into the head of all three main characters and intertwines the story from their points of view is a treat to read. Jumping from one chapter to another as a different character can be easy for an author to lose focus, but not this writer. The way they are able to jump from one person to the next is a testament to just how good they are at writing.

If any new writer out there wants to learn how to write clever hooks at the end of each chapter to make sure the reader keeps going, should study this book. It was such a masterpiece to read that I could not put it down. for a breather. The writer should be very proud of this piece of art that they have created and future they have in writing.

Get out there and get this book on May 15th 2023, you will not be let down by this choice and hey, maybe you will learn that your mother or mother-in-law is just as evil. Thank you for the wonderful read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

Charlotte and Ethan have just got married. Unfortunately their landlord has evicted them and to save for a mortgage they move in with Ethan’s mum Anna. Anna is the mother in law from hell, thinking Charlotte has stolen her little boy.

The three main characters were not likeable. Charlotte was spoiled and needed to grow a backbone. Ethan was a bit of a pathetic mummy’s boy and Anna was a stereotypical evil mother in law. I disliked all three immensely and I think that goes to show how how well written they were.

This wasn’t my favourite book. Slow to start and for plot twists to actually happen. A bit predictable too. Still worth a read.

The multiple characters each have their moments and chapters. It was a great way to have 1st person perspective within the larger context instead of the overused omnipresence narrative.

The characters and their actions had me place the book down just to make sure I read it correctly. For instance, at one part of the novel, I became so distraught at a scene that I had to close the book and come back later when I wasn’t as upset.

Great storytelling. Would highly recommend.

Tension and suspicion at it's finest! when Ethan marries the love of his life Charlotte and they have to move in with his mother, Anna, for a few months, fireworks are inevitable. But who is to blame, the crazy mother-in-law or the possessive new wife? How far will each of them go to keep the man they love to themselves? I enjoyed this book and was kept guessing through the majority of the book as to who was the unhinged character. I did find some of characters dialogue a little forced and unrealistic at times but this did not distract too much from the gripping plot.

Reading this brought back the feelings of dread and frustration that come with having a true mother in law from hell. I started this book yesterday. Last night I had nightmares of my long deceased mother in law. I finished the book today and I sincerely hope she doesn’t haunt my dreams again tonight. This may sound like a negative review but it’s not! From start to finish I was hooked and rooting for Charlotte (the daughter in law).

Woah, what did I just read?
Lots of people think they have a monster-in-law, but I don’t think any can compare to Anna.
Charlotte feels that her mother in law hates her and doesn’t want her to be with Ethan. What lengths will she go to make this happen? I felt so sorry for Charlotte, I could feel her pain and confusion.
I really enjoyed reading this one, it was suspenseful and well written.
Many thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read and review this one.

Thankyou netgalley for allowing me a copy of his mother's lies early to give my review

Wow wow wow! This book had me HOOKED.

Not all stepmothers are evil... But some can be, this is Charlotte's story!

You could tell that Charlotte's stepmother had something about her. Just little things she did, little mind games she played with both her son and Charlotte!

I absolutely loved this book. Such an easy read, great storyline and the right amount of shocks! The story flowed so nicely while reading and I didn't want it to end!! You definitely want to keep reading to find out the ending though!

Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves a good psychological thriller! 10 out of 10!

A really gripping thriller told through the eyes of Charlotte who married Ethan only to realise that her new mother-in-law Anna is extremely controlling and will stop at nothing to manipulate those around her.
Charlotte soon uncovers family lies and secrets which have the potential to implode her marriage and destroy her in the process.
Such a great domestic thriller set at a great pace.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for an early copy of His Mother’s Lies. This was a fast reading book, I liked Ethan a lot, he was a great character. I sometimes felt the book was for a younger age group but I still enjoyed it. Psychologicals are my favorite genre and this one does fall into that category with the mind games from the mom. She was a real cuckoo.

Ethan has found the girl of his dreams in Charlotte, much to the dismay of his mother Anna Cox. Anna is a monster-in-law for sure. From the day of the wedding forward. Oh, she puts on a good show for everyone, but the daughter in law. But how far will she go to get 'her little boy' back" I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Solid 3.5. Having lived through a crazy mother-in-law (who is thankfully an ex mother-in-law!), the premise of His Mothers Lies drew me in. And overall this book did not disappoint. It was a bit slow to start and a little repetitive but picked up quickly. I will say that none of the three main characters were particularly likable but Anna took the cake! The manipulation was crazy!! Overall good read. Thanks NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this enjoyable ARC.

Omg I flew through this and my jaw was on the floor! This is the perfect example of what a domestic thriller should be. I loved that the characters weren't idiots, there weren't ridiculous situations that wouldn't realistically happen .... and that makes it all so so creepy. Ots well written, some bits felt a bit slow but it picks up again quick enough before you ever get bored. A must read for anyone who likes domestic thrillers
