I started reading this because I was lucky enough to receive the second, unveiled. It took a tiny bit to get into it but deep down you give me a Halloween themed spooky girl and I’m all in.
I loved the development and the contrast at the end. Sure it’s smutty with a good amount of plot but I found it to be the perfect blend.
Can’t wait to start unveiled 🥰

Poorly Written
⚠️ Spoiler Alert ⚠️
Although this book is obviously a fiction book with that in mind it’s just flat out poorly written and unrealistic. There’s no depth to anything in the writing.
First things first, no man would wear a mask that long and there was no real valid point in him keeping the charade up that long.
She gets kidnapped by him and her best friend telling her friends that she left with a guy and her dad and friends not questioning her just walking out on college with none of her belongings not to be heard of for extended period of time.
The way the MMC treats his brother that he supposedly loves and his brother going along with him saying she’s belonged to me since she was basically a little girl? Ew, no matter how horribly it was explained in the book. No. Gross.
If he knew it was risky in his line of profession to have a “weakness.” Why would he take her to a “mafia ball.” Wtf is even that. And show her off to everyone and think nothing would happen. I’m literally rolling my eyes.
She was “sold.” To the enemy? Cause his dad the head of mafia would kanoodle with the enemy to sell her? Yeah no.
The MMC not being able to find her for a week while she’s kidnapped at his dad’s house? Ok….
The head of the rival mafia leader saying he’s going to give her a month before he Fs her whether she wants it or not and putting her on birth control? BFFR.
This whole drawn out in 400 + pages book is based off of her being kidnapped by him and “falling for him.” In a month’s time span before she was kidnapped and given to the rival mafia leader for another month.
From the time she got kidnapped at a “mafia ball.” The MMC never confronted his own dad for taking her, I’m sure the heck not going to stick around for another book to find out if he does but it makes zero sense.
The ending was so stupid, she has this HAE moment with him and the next morning was like ya take me home I can’t be with you bye. Then a “to be continued.”
I don’t know if this is the authors first book or there wasn’t much effort put into it but I’ve never seen a book with so many plot holes.

This is the first book that I have read from Elise Lang. The blurb caught my attention, and I was interested in knowing more about this story. It is a dark romance with hades and Persephone themes. A masked, unhinged stalker who will do whatever it takes to get the woman he loves.
The story starts out with Ainsley and her best friend Ethan playing hide and seek. These two have been best friends forever. One time playing hide and seek Ainsley decides to find the one spot Ethan wont be able to find her so easily, the basement. Little does she realize who will find her down there.
The book fast forwards to real time and Ainsley and Ethan are now in college. It is Halloween which is Ainsley favorite holiday. Little does Ainsley know the monster from the basement is ready to make himself known no longer just in her dreams.
Ainsley gets taken by the monster and this is where the fun begins. This is not your everyday stalker romance. There is so much more between the "Monster" and Ainsley.
I absolutely loved Ainsley. She is strong, stubborn and a fighter. She does not let her emotions or feelings out so easily and she does not give in to the monster without quite the fight.
There is alot of twists and turns in this storyline. But each and every one makes for a great story that drags you in.
This one does end on a cliffhanger. Be fair warned and there are triggers. But overall, a very enjoyable page turning book with 2 amazing characters that you can't help but want to read about.

5 ⭐️ and 🌶🌶🌶🌶
This book had my emotions all over that place. This author had me up at all hours of the night wanting to continue this book. I was sucked in and crying for the MFC quite a bit. It's definitely a dark book for those who have not read dark romance. Go in with caution and remember your mental health matters. That ending was a twist I wasn't expecting, but still, I quite enjoyed this book, and now I will dive into the second book that I was lucky to get an advanced copy of. I can't wait to see how Cain tries to get her back.

It’s really hard to believe this is a debut novel because wow.
I devoured this and even skipped my dinner in order to finish it cuz who needs sustenance when more important things are at stake? I’m not really sure how I’m supposed to wait 2 weeks for the 2nd book to come out.
I loved the banter, the angst, the unhinged, the rescue, and the spice. The overall plot was fantastic and it was at a solid pace so at no point did I feel like it was dragging or rushed.

I didn’t hate this book but I didn’t love it either. I found the plot unconvincing and far reaching for the first half of the book. I nearly DNF as the unfolding love story dragged out for too long. The books plot eventually picks up at about 60% of the book and only then did the storyline become enticing and nail biting. 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Nothing special, but I would recommend it for my mask loving, stalker dark romance girlies. It was good, just nothing new or different really. I liked it enough to finish and I’ll read the second as well.

Good first story of the duet, laid the groundwork well got a good incite to the characters and how it all came about.

If that line doesn't catch your attention, I don't know what will lol. How about a masked, unhinged stalker? How about crawling? How about a strong FMC? If you love all these elements in a book, plus some cartel action and smut, than this is the book for you.
This is the first book in the Abducted Hearts Duet series, and it had my attention right from the prologue.
The story starts out with Ainsley, the main FMC and her best friend Ethan playing a game of hide and seek as kids. Ainsley decides to hide and the basement, and overhears Ethans dad tell him to stay out of the basement, that he's not allowed down there. Ainsley starts to panic, and as she starts to start up the steps to go back up, a hand clamps around her mouth and drags her back and tells her "Never come down here again, little one. You never know what monsters are lucking in the dark"!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH LOVE THIS!!!!!!!
The book fast forwards to present time, where it's almost Halloween and Ainsley and her friends are getting ready for the big day. But poor Ainsley keeps getting these weird texts from an unknown number and special presents in her room. Every time she blocks the number, mister unknown finds way to message her again, letting her know that she won't be escaping him anytime soon, and the more she tests him, the more, the more steps he will be willing to take to let her know how serious he really is.
She eventually gets taken by said mister stalker masked man....and this is where the fun begins!!!!!!
The FMC is a very strong character and very stubborn and I loved that about her. She didn't just give in to the MMC, and fought him every step of the way.
The MMC......oh man do I love him so much. I can't tell you anything about him or what he's involved, because that will spoil a good portion of the book.
Just know it's lots of smut, crawling, cartel, tattoos and a masked man....all you need to know lol.
I highly recommend this book. Does end on a cliffy so be prepared. Also make sure you check your TWs before reading.

This was a 5⭐️ for me I loved it. If you like masked man kidnapping he falls first, this is the book for you. I feel in love with Cain. I love him. This is about Cain falling hard for Ainsley that he does whatever it takes for her to fall in love with him. Half way through the story some sad moments happen so prepare your self for it and the ending had me cry can’t wait for the second book I’m be running for when it releases but yall need to read it was so good I 100% recommend it such a great book 📚
