Another hidden gem on Wattpad. It has been so long since the last time I stayed up until 4AM to read a book. The author said that she easily got bored with books if the characters fell in love very quick. I agree and I just fell in love with Gabriel and Skylar. I understood perfectly why Gabriel made his choices and Skylar's emotions felt so real that at some points, I felt like my heart was being ripped out. For once I didn't want to punch myself in the face with how idiotic some protagonists could act. I still haven't finished but there's no denying that I am in love with this book. It should be published.

4.5 stars ⭐️.

Ufff ..how I loved this amazing book. Read it in Wattpad like long time back but still remember the Fantastic twists the book took, the epic final fight and Cruel but loving Alpha Gabriel. I loved Skylar too. She was perfect. I also remember the wanna be Ow and her past with the hero that’s why minus .5 stars.

I really did like this book.

But the romance had me like.

description

The writing was a little slow for me... and a little bit repetitive. Even with these set backs for me this still was a good book.

The thought behind the plot made total sense. Sometimes I feel with paranormal books, the stories can get kind of crazy. Like there's no actual logic behind things that happen other than "magic" or whatever, but this wasn't like that at all! It was well thought out. 5 stars if the romance would have moved a little faster... lol

I've finished the book in just two days, and I as truly in love with the first half.
The character of Skyler kept my attention, the character of Gabriel was interesting.

As the book progressed the writing style was irritiating me.
The character was repeating the same questions and same thoughts over and over again.
Where she was tenacious in the first half of the book, so insecure she became in the second half of the book.

I read that the author didn't like romances evolving fast, but I don't think you should write a romance book and then let the romance begin past the half of the book. The romantic tension was way too long. It's just not realistic, and the constant perspective of Skyler made me bond less with her character, because she just let it come over her.

The plot however was expected, but well written. The writing skills of the author where thus slow that I lost my interested in the characters and their surrounding. I think if the romance was better displayed, this would be such a catching story.

TLDR; story-idea is great, writing is slow and plots could be foreseen.

This book has enemies to lovers, mates, hot dark-brooding love interest, smart (not annoying) MC, slow burn romance (but the wait is worth it for that kiss scene🔥 just immaculate), have to share hotel bedroom trope, perfect amount of possessive-jealousy scenes, crazy twists

THIS BOOK DESERVES TO BE PUBLISHED. I had a mini heart attack when I couldn't find it, which is why I need a physical copy of it, but thankfully its back now.

I first read this book years ago and since then I have read it multiple times in the span of 4 years(Which is a lot for me because I never reread books, that alone can tell you how good this is). And it still remains my favorite werewolf book, (and I have read a lot of werewolf books). There is no other werewolf book on Wattpad like it.

My only issue is that the ending sort of ends open ended (but still happy ending). The author was suppose to make a sequel but she never got to it :(

Hopefully there will be a sequel to this awesome book!

This is one of my favorite book about werewolves, the flow of the story is really good, the emotion between Skylar and Gabriel is amazing because I felt deeply connected with them.

The plot is also really great, it's so suspense and full of surprises!

And yes i'm so agree that this book should be published!

Out all the bad material I have read on Wattpad, this one was an okay read, especially for a werewolf story (and when you're a Wattpader like me, you can agree that werewolf books suck on Wattpad, especially the popular ones).

Of course, like all werewolf stories, it contains some cliche, but this one was good and enjoyable to read. I liked the protagonists (both male and female leads) and how their relationship evolved. Gabriel is much more than the dangerous alpha he seems to be, and I found Skylar a very likeable girl, in contrary to many other werewolf stories where I can't stand the girl.

There is also a good plot; a progression in the storyline. It's so much different from other werewolf stories. The writing style is also good.

Now... Let's get to the negative points.

First: the cliche: It is impossible to avoid it in a werewolf story: Girl mated to powerful alpha with a rather dark past, he is her pack's ennemy and all, he's had a relationship with a packmember before. But it was quite okay because it is not too much.

Secondly: the characters:

Gabriel was really interesting as a character, but I really dislike how he treats Skylar when she goes to live with him. He would have used his superiority over her Alpha to force her to go with him hadn't she gone willingly. Also, when she finally lives with him, he puts a lot of distance between them, and acts really cold. I mean, I understand that he had his reasons, but he gotta assume: if he were going to be like this from the start, then he should have left her alone with her family.

He is also too much secretive. Honestly, I felt like he didn't trust the female lead. I hate how hypocrite he acts at some moments, especially with Eva. The way he used her is disgusting, but I really can't find it in myself to like her.

Then the girl, Skylar: honestly, she's one of the only girls I can tolerate from a werewolf story and she had some depth; but she is too weak. I like her personality, but there are moments where I want to slap her face. Especially her wolf. It annoys me. She can't even control herself around Gabriel, and I feel like she is insecure. She belittles herself too much and can't fight against her wolf, or her friendship with Will. There are also moments where she acts like a coward; running away will not solve your problems.

Eva and Will: I am quite disappointed by these two. I would have loved to see how their relationship improved, but they only existed as potential rivals for the main characters.

And there is also this weird thing:

Gabriel and Skylar love each other

Skylar is loved by Will. Will is loved by Maria. Will then finds out his mate is Eva, and then BOOM! He immediately loves her, and she doesn't resist him for too long. Then, Maria discovers that Will's big bro is her mate...

You got my point. It was really improvised and repetitive. I would have loved more interaction from characters like Gabriel's Beta.

There are moments that just happen to "save" other events in a lot of chapters. Like that time when Maria was depressed because of Will, then she met his older brother again, and then, you know what happens next.

The writing is okay. Not great nor good but okay. The writing style isn't impressive and it lacked a bit of description. As for the grammar, this story needs to be edited because there are quite a few mistakes.

Then, you have some events that are really like... Incredible? I mean, I didn't even know werewolves and angels were related, much less that they could have kids. And why does the old ennemy seem to appear just when Gabriel finds his mate?

Again. You got my point. By some moments, it reminded me of Twilight.

I also didn't like how the story was towards the end, it was a bit disappointed but Skylar and Gabriel end up together.

So in the end, I think that My Dark Knight is an okay read. The beginning is really interesting but some moments are really boring and the end disappointing. The way Gabriel emotionally treats Skylar in the beginning is also annoying.

I read this when it was still a story on Wattpad. It's difficult giving this book a 4 star instead of a 5 star rating but the main reason for it is the slow build up. Otherwise, in my opinion, this story was awesome! It had been a while since I had stumbled across a good werewolf story. Like I said, the build up (mainly the romance) was slow, and that was unfortunate because you could tell the readers just wanted at least a small amount of action. However, as soon as you find out WHY the romance was so slow, it makes sense... Doesn't make it any easier to get through. The characters are fun. The world building, and story is great. I will be buying this book once it's published and I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL! Seriously!! I've been waiting since 2013. I'm ready!

I’ve read this book so many years ago I have always thought about it and went back and reread it. I started reading it when it first came out and she was publishing it chapter by chapter and I just couldn’t get enough. I see some of the other comments are saying that it’s not on Wattpad but it’s on mine so I don’t know. I wish that she would write a sequel to the book because it’s absolutely amazing. It was one of the first books that was so realistic on Wattpad at the time. I just really wish you would come back I write something else because the story was so good. I just love the Gabriel and all of his reactions and how he grew with Skyler. It wasn’t anything forced or Unrealistic it was a genuine connection that they had to build. 10 out of 10 recommend any day of the week.

This started out really great. The fight scenes were credible. Descriptions were fantastic. But it needs editing especially from the middle of the book onwards. The pacing is too protracted. The love story took a looooooong time. I mean, I get it. We want them to get to know each other and then love each other but the author forgets that the reader has to fall in love, too. When the comments start hating the man because he's treating her cruelly for far too long or starting to hate the woman for being weak, that's the sign that the love story isn't working anymore.

That said, I read the whole book (scanned the last few chapters because they were way too long) and it was a good story about love and sacrifice. Just needs good editing to tighten the whole thing.

One of the very few Wattpad novels I continuously return to. Love the plot, characters and dynamics.
This novel deserves to be published and get the proper editorial attention it deserves. A few continuity inconsistencies however those can be overlooked as the author went back in to adjust certain chapters post publish.

I’d love a sequel or short novella to answer the epilogue; having left new and ambiguous questions - especially one regarding the state of Gabriel and Skylar’s relationship.

If you love werewolf romances this one is great.

This was the book that brought me into the world of romance fiction on online reading platforms some four years ago, however, my review is a little late and for that I am sorry.
I loved it through and through from the style of the writing, over the storyline to the characters. One of the best books out there for sure. I could not not put it down, I could not get enough of it and my only issue with the book even to this date is, that there wasn't more of it!!!

This book really needs to be polished and published! Found and read on wattpad, like the rest of the reviews. I saw say they were unable to find it, but it is there if you want to find it as of the date of this review.

This is a slow burn romance with an intense plot that I found myself unable to put down! I was hoping to find a sequel, but the completion has me happy enough.

I love when I find a hidden gem like this and am able to rate it. ✨️✨️ ✨️✨️

I’ve re-read this book on Wattpad several times over the years. It’s such a good werewolf romance, I wish it was published so I could have a physical copy. My only complaint is that the ending hinted at a sequel we never got. 💔

I think is a good concept. I needs polishing, but overall, it is good.

I read it back when I was in high school, and I reread it sometime later. Don't have exact dates. My latest read was a lot of skimming through because the descriptions are very long.

My library card expired and with life happening, I haven’t had time to go in and renew it. I read this book on Wattpad and I was very pleasantly surprised by it! Lots of plot and character development. This was a good read!

I like the idea of a strong female character in this story. Surely different from the other misogynistic stories out there on Wattpad.
