This book is a helpful way to introduce working mothers. For children struggling with letting go of their mothers it gives them an opportunity to see what really goes on in the workforce. It's also a good way to introduce different types of jobs as well as community helpers.
A celebration of a woman's role in the community. I have the 1974 Scholastic edition of this book with the Beni Montressor illustrations. Classic feel, inside and out.
A vintage children's book depicting mommies in all kinds of work, from office and sales work to astronomers and tv directors. A wide variety of mommies in a wide variety of work. At the end of the book, they go home to their children who are happy to see them. Very positive messages throughout.
The version I borrowed from the library was first published in the 50s. Such a great book, still very relevant. Only a few of the occupations (like elevator worker or switchboard worker) are outdated. The illustrations in the version I read are not the best, some of them are very hard to make out especially for a younger child unfamiliar with what they’re trying to portray. I’m interested in getting an updated version to compare.
