She's a protector. She's a warrior. She's U.S. Marshal Alexandra "Alex" Tanner, and if you harm the innocent, the world will not be big enough to hide you.
Alex Tanner, a former Air Force Parajumper (PJ), has been working for the U.S. Marshals' prisoner transportation unit for the past three years. But when Donald and Helen Morgan witness a cartel leader's son murder an undercover cop, Alex gets a chance at her dream job.
Alex had been chomping at the bit to earn a position with WITSEC, the witness protection division of the Marshals Service. With a new family moving into the program, Alex may be just the right person for the job.
From the beginning, Alex faces unexpected challenges. The vicious tactics of the cartel, a world-class assassin, and a puppet master pulling the strings have everybody from the Marshals to the FBI, the DEA, and even Interpol baffled.
Can Alex solve the puzzle in time to save the family under her protection? Join Marshal Alex Tanner on a wild and bloody ride with more twists and turns than you could imagine. Nothing is what it seems, and danger lurks around every corner.
One thing's for you'll never see the ending coming!
Started slow but quickly picked up. Majority of my selections are Audible selects, so I had to slow down and embrace the storyline which took a minute. The Alex T Character has promise and as a fellow warrior you look for those (within these stories) whose mettle can be believable vice some tragic make up for the good of. The Cliffhangers brought it all home though I would have welcomed a bit more of the H2H or hunt between the Assassin and Tanner. Lets see what the next book in the sequence brings - Good read !!
I made it through the book and gave it an extra star for the twist ending. Didn’t see that coming. Unfortunately that’s about all the positive I can say. Get an editor. That will stop Justin from changing to Justine. That will stop The Executioner from being referred to as bitch half the time and ‘bitch’ the other half of the time. Question time: how did Alex, after getting shot twice in the torso, make it up a four story ladder while carrying her rifle? How did she carry it and put it up in the first place? How did Justin connect with the 20 assassins, that Interpol and many police departments couldn’t find? Why did The Executioner align herself with Justin? I won’t be reading the rest of the series. Not recommended.
