In the cold wilderness of Alaska, my host is as wicked as he is enticing.I thought I had my golden ticket to love until I stumbled upon my boyfriend’s betrayal. A romantic Christmas vacation to Alaska, planned for two, is now a solo venture. Little did I know, I was stepping into the lair of a dark, dangerous man I knew nothing about.
Maddox, a tattooed giant of a man, a fugitive turned recluse, has been living in the shadows. But his obsession ignites when he sees a photo of me online after booking his cabin, the golden girl with a silver spoon. He’s dangerous and unstable, and yet I’m drawn to him. The rugged man in front of me is nothing like the polished lawyers and businessmen I’m used to. Maddox is raw and real.
In the isolated cabin, the icy Alaskan wilderness becomes our playground. Maddox, the man obsessed with masks, pulls me into his twisted game of obsession and desire. But as the temperature drops, our dangerous dance only heats up, pushing boundaries.
I thought the snow stranded me, but I’m exactly where Maddox wants me. In his world, under his rules. I’d come for solitude, but I’m in for a wild ride. No one can hear you scream when you’re miles from civilization. After all, there are no rules in the heart of the wilderness. The only law is survival. But can I survive Maddox?
Stranded is a dark Christmas novella with heavy subjects that some readers may find triggering. A full list of the warnings will be found in the book. This story has no cliffhanger and ends with a HEA.
Okay, maybe I shouldn't have been expecting anything after the Halloween novella, because this was even worse. The writing style didn't improve, and I felt so disgusted by what I was reading, something that hasn't happened in a while.
Also, bisexual doesn't mean gay!!!! The character literally said he's bisexual, but then Maddox and Ivy kept calling him gay again and again and invalidating that he's also attracted to women. And that bit about rubbed me the wrong way too.
And listen, I really wanted both this and Welcome to Carnage to be my types of books, land on my favourites shelf and all that, but they just weren't for me, and neither is this author clearly. So we'll part ways here.
1. Inappropriate use of gymnastics equiptment (where the fuck did it come from?) 2. Inappropriate use of wood carving skills (how is that sanitary?) 3. Blatant homophobia (how the fuck are you this freaky and still homophobic?) 4. He wore a Santa hat 5. The phrase happy maskmas was used unironically 6. He proposed to her with a ball gag in her mouth after they fucked in a gazebo 7. Inappropriate use of a fire arm (she is going to get a UTI) 8. It is Alaska. It is below zero regularly. They fuck outside repeatedly. I've watched enough Alaskan Bush People to know that they should have hypothermia by now
Y’all…the “kink” written into this is not done well at all, the revelation of the ex boyfriend makes no sense..he’s “gay” yet cheated on her with two women (just because a dude likes to get pegged doesn’t mean they are gay..)…don’t even get me started on the epilogue. first and last book read by this author I think. I fell for the tiktok blurb once again.

Ivy (h) walks in on her boyfriend mid action and ends their relationship on the spot, departing solo for the romantic Alaskan vacation they were supposed to have gone on together. She arrives to find Maddox (H), the owner of the cabin she’ll be staying in, with things well in hand, unaware that he’s been obsessing over her for months simply based on her booking photo. Maddox knows that Ivy is his and will let nothing and no one stand in the way of his dark desires for her, a darkness he soon realizes she eagerly reciprocates. Ultra-hot and steamy dark Christmastime quickie with lots of kinks, including mask play, primal play, knife play, CNC, role play, gun play, drugging, BDSM, impact play, rough sex, praise, degradation, murder, stalking, and more.
1.5⭐️ this is the second book I’m stumbled upon by this author, and honestly, idk how I keep getting dragged into reading these. Bloody TikTok influencing me. I was questioning my sanity the whole time I was reading this, but I strangely couldn’t stop reading it, every time I tried to put it down I was like oh there’s only x amount of pages left. cause it’s 132 pages. It felt pointless DNFing a book this small. Ya know? Anyhow, what the actual fuck did I just read. Also the part in the book where Maddox says “your passion for fashion” had me howling, is he a secret bratz fan?!
This book might have thought it wasn’t biphobic, but holy fuck it was biphobic. A bi man is not betraying anyone by being with a woman. That woman doesn’t have to be bi too for it to be valid. And that woman definitely doesn’t have to be trans for it to be a relationship that works. And you don’t need to tell ANYONE that your partner is trans in order for your own sexuality to be valid. Absolute garbage. The story was mediocre and the kinks were a mixed bag.
Unfortunately, I just don’t click with this author. This turned out to be one of the worst books I’ve read. I made it to about 60%, but I couldn’t bring myself to continue.
I love a good dark romance, but this book was just not well done. The characters, dialogue, and just kind of the whole story was just really flawed. It’s super frustrating because it’s a cool idea. This is a hard pass.
Short/simple novella with a weak plot that really doesn’t end up making a lot of sense, but the spice is spicing. Dark with 🔫🌶️ and similar. It’s was okay at best. I thought the HEA fell a little flat. I’m not sure what time I started reading it, but I finished it in what felt like an hour. Hoping it gets me out of my slump and I can finish one of the others I’m currently reading.
A quick novella, take it for what it is. A fast paced spicy read, back story of b/f cheating and our FMC finds herself in a cabin in the wilds of Alaska…what I wouldn’t give 🫠 No spoilers here.
I enjoyed it, it’s got a bit of everything, stalking, masked man, obsessive, smut, primal etc.
The same issues as this author’s first book-it literally makes no sense. I honestly wanted to stop after the first chapter and I probably should have.
54% I had to stop, literally could not take the nonsense anymore. I will get back to it, but for now… really? The high ratings and the #1 short horror has me befuddled.
The very first chapter was so so stupid. Like logistically so dumb and made zero sense. The MFC left their shared apartment for a yoga class sometime between 7-10am based on flight time frame.. came home what, an hour later because the boyfriend didn’t come pick her up, to find him in a threesome giving and taking it up the butt with two women. Uhm 🤨? No matter how stupid the man is, there is no way he could think “Gee, she just left, it’s 7am and I know I’m leaving on vacay in an hour, let’s call some b****es over and do this on our white couch, lose track of the already extremely limited window and be shocked gf shows up”
I was so excited to read this after it showed up on my FB feed. Storyline is right up my alley, but wow. What a disappointment. The book continues much like the first chapter and just has you scratching your head. First Maddox used to be a dom in a smex club, then he’s a notorious bank robber/murdered so many people he’s lost count, who has been hiding out in Alaska for seven years, yet he can’t be older than 35.. so both of those things happened in his early to mid twenties???? Wow. Busy boy. Even the much awaited spicy scenes were such a letdown.
We are introduce to Ivy by finding her boyfriend with two women right before their Christmas getaway to Alaska. Ivy has rented out Maddox's cabin, and now has decided to spend the holiday alone to get away the disaster of her relationship.
From the get go we get to know the intense obsession Maddox has for Ivy, and he is willing to do anything to keep her with him. He has been stalking her, and planning for her the moment she booked the cabin five months prior. She just doesn't know how deep his obsessions goes, but Ivy is no innocent herself, and allows her inner darkness to match his.
I really liked the story, and the development of the relationship even if it was really fast. It is a short book so to be expected. Very much insta-lust, but he had been stalking her for five months, so that makes sense.
I listened to the audiobook and read along. The audiobook was in duet narration, where the male reads the male parts and the female reads the female parts. It is my favorite type of narration, and it’s a short little book, so something easy to pick up without dedicating a lot of time to a novel.
Tropes: ☑️ Touch her and 💀 (and he does) ☑️ Dual POV’s (first person) ☑️Captor/Captive ☑️ Insta-Love ☑️ Stalker (from afar off page) ☑️ Masked MMC ☑️ Chase/Primal ☑️ BDSM/Kink play *check triggers* ☑️ HEA
“our eyes meet and the wicked gleam in hers makes me certain I’ve met my soulmate. this twisted game we’re playing, it’s not about Preston. It’s about her. he woman who matches my darkness, stroke for stroke. a woman who revels in the very things that should terrify her. a woman who might be as fucked up as me.”😭🖤✨
“and Maddox is my dark knight in shining armor who saved me from a world of boredom and light when all I needed was the darkness.”🥹🖤
now ivy started off w a boy. preston. n the way she caught him cheating killed me i’m sorry to every1😂💀but anyways preston is such a loser PLS.
maddox is literally bat shit crazy & after learning ab his history as well he’s deffo a red flag walking. but the obsessions he’s has 4 ivy is insane. but bcos of it he’s willing to protect her no matter wht. i’m glad ivy could be the person she’s always wanted to be w out the pressure of others. and i’m glad tht maddox helps her be the best version of herself tht she can.
these two together make the perfect couple who do bring out the crazy in each other but also helps them be the best version of themselves.
so if ur looking 4 a short dark novella w plenty of spice n a masked man this ones deffo 4 u🤭
⚠️PLS CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS IF UR GOING TO READ THIS⚠️
- a dark stalker romance - obsessed mmc - touch her & 💀 - gun play - a MF romance - dual pov
Biphobia and Transphobia caused me to DNF in the last chapter. The author does not understand bisexual identities or trans individuals. A girl can be bi and be with a straight man, a man can be bi and be fine with a girl. And the whole, He loves his new girl because she's trans and is pre op as well as dead naming her is 100% something he should not be sharing with an ex. Do better Selena, or maybe even just talk to a bi or trans person before writing them
Also, sex outdoors in Alaska in the middle of December?? They're gonna be frozen by the end of the sex scene
It's a very wicked Christmas for Ivy when she escapes to a secluded cabin in Alaska after finding her boyfriend cheating on her with not 1 but 2 women. At the same time! Maddox is the sexy, dangerous, caretaker who lives in a cabin not far from hers and unknown to her he's been obsessed with her since she booked the cabin 5 months ago. There's nothing but heat between these two when they're snowed in for the holidays!
Definitely a must read Christmas novella if you’re into books that focus on spicy scenes 🌶️ over plot. It is an extremely quick and easy read which is definitely a nice breather during the busy season.
Right off the bat, I was extremely impressed that the FMC had a strong personality and did not let her emotions drive her actions after her (ex)boyfriend’s betrayal and didn’t have a breakdown!
This novella made me literally laugh out loud way more than I normally do, and it was a really nice refresher. There were a few cheesy lines that I was not expecting going in, which definitely helped the laughing aspect of it. Despite being a dark romance (really, check those triggers!), I found it to be a lighthearted read. It was a good palette cleanser since there was minimal plot (which is not a bad thing in this case).
Also, something I find absolutely awesome & did not realize how much I wanted it as a reader, is the fact that she left literally zero, zilch, nada loose ends. For example, sex with no protection? No worries! Ivy is on birth control! There are sooo many other examples I could give, but it would spoil some scenes. Anything a reader could question, there was an answer for!! You’ll know what I mean once you read it 😉
The dual point of views was 🤌🏼🤌🏼 muy bien. I can let the usage of the word “rut/rutting” 🤢 slide because of it. Thankfully the verbiage was only used a few times, but I just cannot get behind it.
Overall, this is definitely on my recommend list, especially when it is December and everyone is trying to meet their reading goal of the year!
•Dark Romance •Praise •Degradation •Stalking •Breath Play •Mask Play •Primal Play •🔫 Play •Spice 🌶🌶🌶🌶.5
This was a quick and short Christmas dark romance novella. We have our FMC Ivy that takes a Christmas vacation out to Alaska and then meets our MMC Maddox who is the host of the cabin she's staying at for 2 weeks. Maddox has been OBSESSED with Ivy since she booked the cabin 5 months prior. They're both instantly attracted to one another and crave the same dark sexual things. It gets wild and hot quickly. There is a specific fantasy played out a few times that will be triggering for some (CNC) So PLEASE check your TW before reading!
This book was stupid af! I wanted to like this book so freaking bad but it just lacked so much! He’s not gay he’s BI and the way the author wrote about a trans human was gross af. Educate yourself on the lgbt community if you’re going to be writing about it. The kink was lacking by many miles. The writing is all over the place. There is no solid story. It’s just ADHD in book form. I would rather read the dictionary 5x before reading this again. 🤦🏻♀️ first and last by this author.
this was quick & dark & dirty but both of our mcs were OBSESSIVEEEEE & thats exactly how we like them! i did not expect maddox’s past or how ivy was going to stay with him with her life & family dynamic but it was inevitable!
