Valengetrix: Titan of the Isle

Rate this book
The kingdom of Leongard—shining symbol of peace and prosperity for a thousand years—is under siege and lies upon the brink of ruin. War is set to plunge the world into a firestorm of chaos and blood. The newly resurrected empire of Aratania marches at the behest of their cunning and power-hungry emperor, seeking to consolidate the free kingdoms of Auropia under its iron boot. Behind the throne, however, lies a hidden and malevolent force.

One man stands resolute in the face of utter destruction. Valengetrix, warrior commander of the armies of Leongard, must endure the trials of war on land and over sea, from the horrors of necromantic sorcery, to the might of the emperor's fleet. Marooned upon a treacherous isle with the princess whose kingdom he swore to defend, together they must endeavor to survive the elements, the monstrous creatures that inhabit the island, and the pervasive threat of a sinister and bloodthirsty cult.

From the highest peaks of the lush green mountains to the dark depths below the ruins of a long dead city, they embark upon a quest that will test their limits and push them both to the very edge of their endurance. Sword and sorcery meets spear and fang in a harrowing tale of adventure and survival upon a ravenous isle.

Against the primal terrors lurking beneath the jungle canopy and the shadows that creep over eldritch stones, only the stout of heart and iron of will can hope to overcome such trials—only a titan amongst men.

Titan of the Isle is part three in the continued saga of Valengetrix, exiled warrior of Aratania.

This is the third book in the Valengetrix series. The first two volumes were a series of short sword and sorcery tales. This is a novel which has a different feel. A lot of sword and sorcery elements are present. There is a love story going on during the piece which didn’t quite fit the style. It seemed like that portion belonged in a fantasy book. Romance in S & S is usually quite different. Very good book with lots of action, sorcery, ancient tech and ancient races discovered. It sets up well for a sequel, but I’m hoping the short stories return.
