Age Gap ✨ Single dad 🫣 Spicy❤️🔥 Single Mom🖤 Enemies to Lovers 😍 The plot was superb! It was so easy to get hooked to this story and want to read it one sitting!
An incredibly sweet and lovely story about life balance, love, and family. David and Christina are a match made in heaven, but it takes a bit for them to believe it will work. There’s an age gap, a huge financial difference, and broken past relationships, but their journey to overcome these differences, and to find hope in each other, makes this a perfectly wonderful afternoon pick me up. Excellent writing. Off the charts chemistry. Exciting characters, especially that adorable Beth. Easy to read. I think I need an Anna and Drew story….
Learning to Juggle Business, Parenthood and Romance
David Knight, CEO and 45-year-old owner of Knight Media, has recently made the move to add print platforms to his established digital media empire. And not only does he have the vita and wealth of a mogul, he looks the part of an empire maker—a tall fit man with chiseled features, blonde hair and brown eyes. And, he has already established his reputation in the digital medium, known and touted for his home improvement/renovation tv niche.
Now, he has recently purchased Mansion Beautiful, an influential home styles magazine, from its retiring owner and CEO. And, while most new owners of a new product in a related area, but still outside of their area of expertise, might be concerned about the gaps in expertise, handsome, charming and wealthy, David Knight is nothing if not confident in himself and his ability to adapt and apply his current understanding of the digital medium and its audience to the world of print.
And, he has been assured by the departing CEO and now former owner, who had the reputation for putting out award winning issues, that the source of the journal’s on-going excellence was her staff of skilled writers, photographers and production staff—all managed under the guidance of the magazine’s secret weapon, her PA, the beautiful, efficient and creative Christina Jordan, David still has major concerns about his move to manage a new medium. And while David appreciates the advice of the former owner/CEO, he will make his own judgements about the abilities and future retention of all employees—especially PA’s. And as a man who isn’t easily impressed because he judges all work by his own high personal standards, when meeting the former owner’s PA, even he is impressed.
And over the next days which become weeks, as the new CEO meets the deadlines of the first issue of Mansion Beautiful under his direction, he comes to appreciate the experience of Christina and her ability to direct the teams and groups towards a new issue’s publication, David is impressed. He is impressed by Christina’s intellectual ability—her attention to manage a vast array of details needed to bring the journal to press and her understanding of the journal’s distribution it to a variety of vendors. David, the digital mastermind, comes to appreciate the knowledge and grace of his inherited PA.
And, as he becomes aware of the layers that make the beautifully clever, blue-eyed 27-year-old curvy PA with her unfinished MBA and a 4-year-old daughter so desirable, he longs to add her to his world. But, he has major hurdles to jump—she comes with friends and family—brother David and of course Christina’s sweet daughter, Beth.
But he has his own issues to sort—his own teenage son whom he doesn’t know nearly as well as he should and his growing empire in an evolving digital world. So, he knows that pursuing a relationship with a younger woman with a child might be foolish, both emotionally and time-wise. So, the question remains—no matter Christina’s sweetness, beauty, and skillful parenting, is she worth the cost that courting her would mean to his business plan, his multi-million-dollar enterprise, and to his reawakened desire to father his teenaged son, David, Jr.?
I received a review copy of the romance from Booksprout, but purchased a copy for my “read again” collection.
This wasn't a bad book. It was... okay. You have a very busy older man, David Knight, 40ish, determined to get things done his way. Time is money is his mentality. He's controlling. He is the CEO of Knight Media and he recently purchased and is the new owner of a magazine called Mansion Beautiful. He's divorced and has a 15yr old son named Junior. He doesn't have the best relationship with him. He works all the time.
Christina Jordan is much younger 25, single Mom to Beth, and is now his assistant. Naturally they start to eye each other with interest. But when she tries to leave work early, to pick up her daughter, David gets annoyed and finds it ridiculous. She isn't paid to leave early. Her job should be first. His company is first. You can see why I didn't really care for the guy. Plus, he considers Christina a "simple beauty". I think he should have seen her from the start, but yeah... ohhkay.🙄 Eventually she will be seen as beautiful. David just has to have his way. He wants to get work done and goes to her home after calling her. No boundaries. They get involved secretly. And when Christina tries to share her opinions about David making time for Junior the guy snaps at her that it's none of her business. It's like where is this going? Why stay with someone like that? It's not worth the hassle. He gets jealous at one point over Christina's brother but David doesn't know that Drew is her brother. He mellows out somewhat. Learns things from Christina about family, making time, and I guess love. This one wasn't for me. It wasn't very romantic imo. But it might be for others.💁🏼
Thank you for an early read. This is my honest critique of the story.
Silver Fox Grumpy Daddy is an age gap workplace spicy novella by Hailey Barr. In this short and spicy story, we meet Christina, a single mother who is an overachiever in work, but tries to still balance her work life with her young daughter. When her company get bought out by Knight Media, in walks the new CEO, David Knight. He is arrogant, bossy, and rubs her the wrong way, but despite all of this, she finds herself wanting to get to know him on a much more personal level. David is not relationship material. He is a typical high and mighty rich guy who thinks the world revolves around him. They try to fight their growing attraction, while maintaining a proper workplace relationship.
If you only have an hour or two to commit to a book, this is a great choice to entertain you. It has lots of spice and a decent storyline. It feels a little rushed to me, and I would have liked to have seen a little more development in the growth of their story. Overall it was an entertaining read.
David just bought the company that Christina works at. Christina is his assistant and sparks fly between them. Christina is a single mom and doesn't like working past a certain time so she's there for her daughter. David pushes her limits by asking her to work over several times. Then he plans an overnight trip and she has to bring her daughter along. Its during this trip that she meets his son. Will they admit that they are attracted to each other? Will things change between them after this trip?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.
Such a great read, this book had it all. Not silver fox billionaire with commitment issues, a PA that is in job limbo after the silver fox buys the business. As a single mum she puts her daughter first and is disappointed when she realised her needs I boss doesn't seem to feel the same with his son. Once she tells him he's letting his son down he has an epiphany and starts to realise what he's missing. I loved seeing him become more car I g and change for the better, not because he was made too but because he wanted and needed too. A refreshing read that I couldn't fault and enjoyed.
David has just bought out the magazine that Christina works at, and things aren't going as planned. David is all about the business and dollar instead of the people that work there. He and Christina are getting closer but his rigid demeanor especially when it comes to his son gives her pause. Will he loosen up and give the relationship forming between him and Christina a chance and will it lead them to happiness.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read with a lot of things going on. I really liked the FMC. She had a strong backbone to be able to put up with the grump. I think it told the story very well. I wish there had been more history with how they ended up where they were. Overall, it was a good read with a little bit of spice sprinkled here and there. I was confused at the end. I'm not sure if it was a year later or two years later the epilogue was confusing. It said one year later but then they were talking about for the past two years so I'm not totally sure might be a miss type.
I loved this story..David is the grumpy boss/millionaire who is a workaholic and not the best dad. He always puts work first so let’s add divorce to his resume. Christina is the single mom who puts her daughter first above all else. Their story is so cute, they both learn from each other about love, dreams and being a better parent. I love a HEA and HAILEY Barr really out did herself with this book. I highly recommend it as a must read.
Quick read, very fast paced. Relationship seemed a little forced/rushed, but they definitely had a spark. Loved that he let her influence him and didn't stay the same character til the end. My initial impression was that it had a very wattpad novella vibe, and I guess that impression stayed with me throughout, but it was a very enjoyable read and it won't be the last time I read Hailey Barr.
Thank you Hailey for allowing me to join your ARC team in exchange for an honest review.
Age gap romance with a twist. It was hard to put down. It has great flow and plot. There were some things that I didn’t like in the characters, how ever, over all it was a great book. I really liked how Davids eyes were opened to what’s most important in life.
I received this book for free and have not been forced to leave a review.
This boss age gap romance book by Hailey is really wonderful. David is the new CEO of a company he just purchased, and Christina is his personal assistant. They don't seem to be hitting it off very well in the beginning and then things start to heat up. This book blew me away with the storyline and characters. They are really good, and I give this book 5/5 plus more.
This was amazing. I loved every second of it and stay up way to late reading this one!!! If you like any of the tropes i listed above then you should give this one a go!!
