This promised to be such an interesting, exciting reading experience, then after I ditched reading the books individually, I picked up this complete series compilation. Huge. Mistake. I only liked and enjoyed the first two, and only because the first two females were the only two who had inner core strength, not only physically, but mentally and socially, which was extremely difficult for North, who was more antisocial and angry at the whole world than all the others put together. Yes, the spice level was high, and the sex scenes between Calian & January, then North and her mate were steamy and realistic. These two females also RESPECTED their guys, and never outright disrespected any of the other males, or acted as if they believed themselves better, even if they, out of any of the females in their stronghold household or the Unseelie's, were the best in character and basic goodness of heart without subjecting unsuspecting innocents to their emotional, psychological, or abusive history hang-ups. Thus, I enjoyed January's and North's journeys into self-discovery of their own worth, strengths, and importance, all while always being intelligent enough to realize they had so much to be grateful for, as well as acknowledging that their mates were key to what they ended up ultimately having.

Then I could barely put up with Mare's wishy-washy whining, questioning everything (after the first few, I had to wonder if her personality and overwhelming suspicion landed her some of the abusive mistreatment she got handed to her.) She. Was. Annoying. Yet, she wasn't nearly as bad as Dakota was with the way she.messed with more than one male. She made awful decisions, horribly disrespectful mistakes that she told herself were misunderstandings, which she never was strong enough to communicate to others unless it benefited herself (okay, I might be projecting that on Dakota, when Naomi was the worst of them all).

Summer's story was ridiculous. She was a quintessentially dumb chick who began the writer's need to turn each female into a superheroine when she didn't substantiate any brainpower for Summer, backbone and loyalty for Dakota, and strength of reason, reliability, loyalty, consideration and niceness for Naomi. All three were the antithesis for any of those cited characteristics.

In summation, I found only the first two books truly enjoyable. Mare's story was tolerable even if I disagreed with and was annoyed by her yo-yo personality. At least the sex scenes weren't boring or cringeworthy! However, the scenes in Dakota's, Summer's, and Naomi's books felt obscene and repetitious. I read the same acts and reactionary moments in the first three books. Besides, how does Naomi go from being that frigidly abusive witch when she dealt with Aev (who was so gorgeous and wonderful with Dakota, who still didn't deserve him even though she objectified and took advantage of his attraction to her), to the shameless hussy and suddenly in-heat nymphomaniac she became with Teris? Naomi never admitted, satisfactorily apologized, or explained to Aev why she treated him the way she did for TWENTY YEARS! That many years of cruel, vicious, reprehensible treatment of a male who was nothing but good, kind, and wonderful, and she is who the writer chooses to have the goddess' blessing? Nope. Did not agree with that plot twist, or her getting an hea. She needed to be punished, not rewarded. Teris did deserve happiness, but I so wish he hadn't had to settle for that particular female. Seriously. Gross. Outcome. Therefore, my rating devolving with each subsequent book beginning with Mare's, we end with Two Stars for the complete series compilation. I'm sorry. I am disappointed, because the initial storyline had so much promise. Maybe Summer, Dakota and Naomi's historical garbage and lack of self esteem outweighed how nasty and awfully they treated others and walked all over the feelings of others in favor of themselves? I did rate books one and two five stars each after I read them. Just couldn't give more for Summer, Dakota and Naomi.

So much fun

This series was so much fun to read. I love that the characters have depth without getting into too much detail that it creates anxiety. Every story is a fun read with characters you love. Lola Glass is a master at this.

I have to say I finished this series being very disappointed. I gave out a few 3 stars, because some of the books were somewhat enjoyable or because I liked the characters, but overall, I wasn’t satisfied.

Ratings of the books in the series:

The Wild Hunt: The Complete Series 2/5 stars

The Savage Fae's Mate 3/5 stars
The Feral Fae's Human 3/5 stars
The Brutal Fae's Life 3/5 stars
The Vicious Fae's Love 3/5 stars
The Barbaric Fae's Soul 2/5 stars
The Primal Fae's Queen 2/5 stars

The writing style was weak throughout the whole series. I appreciate that each book had a different style of narrative to show that the main characters were different people with different personalities, however, the writing style utilised was not for me. Whilst it was understandable that the ex-human turned fae female characters would use earthly slang, they used the most cringe-worthy slangs and expressions, and it just completely ruined the whole fantastical world.

Besides, in Book 1 and 3 the female characters swore so much, it felt both vulgar and juvenile. Vulgar because female character can be shown as strong without using f**k in literally every second sentence. They don’t need to swear like troopers to seem strong, independent and maybe intimidating. And that applies to the male characters too, but because we weren’t in their heads for more than 2-3 chapters, it wasn’t as relevant. As for juvenile, both the swearing, the slang, the description and use of expressions and wording of things felt very childish which again didn’t fit the fantasy aspect of the book regardless of the characters being ex-humans. For 20+ years old characters, they seemed like they were 14 at best because of the writing style.

Also, the writing itself wasn’t satisfactory for me. Whilst I understand not every author’s writing style is description heavy, there has to be a balance between descriptions, telling and showing. I felt that there was just no balance. There were some heavy inner monologues, but instead of showing us what happened, the writing style didn’t describe things as it should have. There were loads of clothing descriptions, to the point of it being extremely repetitive because all the female characters wore the same clothes as if they were uniforms, which they kind of were, but necessary explanations didn’t happen, or they were skipped through. In some cases, specific minor scenes were left out and I had to focus on who, where, what, when because there was no description of what was actually happening. It was seriously lacking in explanation of what I was supposed to imagine.

The overarching plot throughout the whole series was like a rollercoaster. It seemed to have some sort of weight in some of the books, but in other books the plot was literally sorted in a paragraph or two without having actual impact on the characters and their lives. The plot often felt like an afterthought and lacking execution. There was only two books, if I recall correctly, where I felt that the plot was important and not just a quick filler.

And whilst I absolutely adored some of the characters, such as Calian, Priel, Mare, Ervo, Remmo and Aev. They all had distinct characteristic that I found intriguing, interesting or entertaining. Sunny grew on me, and I liked Naomi and Teris by the end of the series. But because of how much swearing happened in January and North’s books, I could not connect with them. They felt too juvenile, but I still did like them to some degree. Characters-wise, it wasn’t a bad series, almost all of them grew on me after a while. Except for Dakota and I do not know if I should blame the author for that. When trauma is handled in a way where characters hurt their loved ones, it’s not the right coping mechanism. Trauma is not an excuse for sh!tty behaviour. But in Dakota’s case it was handled as if it was a completely fine behaviour. The emotional @buse she projected on her mate because of her trauma was never, not once, handled as something problematic. She felt guilty but still kept doing it. I think there was a good opportunity to address this, but it was absolutely ignored, it was actually handled as something absolutely fine. So Dakota’s story made me want to burn my book.

As for the romance, it blossomed too fast. In some cases, the characters were having spicy scenes 5 pages into the book. No build up, no tension, not chemistry. In all the books, the romance felt rushed and whilst I loved some of the characters and their relationship, I barely enjoyed the journey getting together because mostly it was so fast that there was no journey to begin with.

Lastly, the mating bond. I cannot express how disappointed I was about the mating bond. It is not an actual mating bond, whether fated or chosen, if it takes a touch or a kiss to break a bond that hasn‘t been completed fully. I found it to be cop out that if they didn’t like their mate, or the fae they wanted to mate with, they just had to kiss another character to break the bond. How fragile are these bonds? Sure, it was harder to break a completed bond, but that doesn’t make it better if a bond can be easily built or thrown away by only needing a touch or a small peck on the lips from someone. It just cheapened the mating bond in my eyes.

Overall, I liked some characters, I liked their relationships, and I was entertained at times. But the weak writing, the writing style utilised, the rushed romance, the lack of impact on the overarching plot, the convenient 2-3 paragraph or 2-3 sentences solutions to problems, and the fragile mating bonds made me dislike it way too much. Therefore, Wild Hunt: The Complete series got 2/5 stars.

Overall, this series was not for me. I rated 4 of the books 3 stars and 2 of them 2 stars, but overall the series gets 2 stars from me because the writing style was way too weak throughout the series, the characters often didn't make sense in their own inner monologues, the execution of things was boring or surface-level at best and the romance/spice was way too rushed except for one or two of the books.

I felt that I found it hard to connect to the characters because the stories felt rushed. We had multiple dress descriptions, which I found to be repetitive and unnecessary, but I couldn't get to see the characters' depths because they didn't seem to be important enough to be described in more detail. And whilst I did enjoy most of the stories, they weren't entertaining enough. I just found myself bored at times.

Lastly, a mating bond that can be created by just kissing or touching someone and can be rejected by kissing or touching someone else is not a mating bond. Passing around a piece of paper has more depth than passing around the mating bond in this series. It really cheapened the mating bond's existence and the overall romantic storyline.

As I was left disappointed with so many things, so the Wild Hunt series got 2 stars only.

Wonderfully wild as a series, the books move at a fast pace clip, lots of action and excitement.
Each of the young beautiful heroines wish to escape from dark and dire situations and they are painful, difficult ones and find themselves falling through a portal into a new world!

The author is deeply imaginative and each story is quite creative with its unique heroine.
Very much love the world building, while the stories maintain the same supporting cast through the series so it’s easy getting to know the characters.

The love interests are quite intriguing also since they must pursue each other while they are trying to figure out why things are working (or soooo not working) and why their love interest isn’t responding and how to get their “mate” to engage - much like we do here on good old earth (and the relationships between the main characters are quite steamy and physical. So be prepared for some heavy duty dreamy and steamy stuff coming your way and lots of it).

The escapist weekend style readable series has it all and the writing is entertaining along with it. These could be stand alone one at a time or a set, depending on preference and an absolutely worthwhile read

Wild Hunt: The Completed Series
By: Lola Glass
🎧 Audiobook Narrated by: Vivian Stark, Grace Noble, Lacy Laurel, Rylee Forrester, and Ricki Layne
Length: 33 hrs and 17 mins
📖 Ebook Read Using Kindle Unlimited

This had a collection of wonderful stories of Fae Shifter men finding and winning over their half human half fae mates!💘 It's not always simple, but it's always worth it.😍

This is a wonderful collection of audiobooks-in-one.🎧 Some were much better than others. For instance, I'm not a fan of the fake English accents. They're rarely done well. However, the majority were fantastic!⭐️

I highly recommend this raunchy, fae shifters mate obsessed collection.😍

The first book was decent, second one had promise, the rest felt like filler. The last book made me think there would be more plot but it was ultimately anti-climactic.

As a woman, the idea of a world where men outnumber women 200-1 is a scary one. The concept that the men’s memory as a collective had been altered to remove their knowledge of women and sex tempered that but the author skipped over how that would shape the society these characteristics live in.

The series was so formulaic I found my self skipping the sexy parts and since there was little to no plot after the 3rd book I found myself asking why I was still reading. I did finish though.

Wild hunt series

Another series i have fallen in love with. The characters and the creatures. Each couple you fall in love with.
My only reason for not giving 5 stars like I normally do is this one had a lot more cussing than your other books and so I wasn't a huge fan of that. (Just my opinion) Other than that they are fantastic books that are definitely worth reading! Thank you lola!

Phenomenal

This whole series has been incredible! Each character has their own challenges and triumphs. It honestly made me wish I could end up in a place like this with so many beautiful things to discover and happiness in abundance. Each book showed individual human struggles and the battles they faced to overcome it. This series had me hooked instantly. I highly recommend it.

A different take on Fae stories

I really enjoyed this series. I love the second chance at life these women received when taken by the Wild Hunt. I liked the second chance at love that all the main characters got.
Each couple had different struggles to overcome and different journeys to their HEAs, but each were enjoyable.

Lola Glass was a new author for me

Her books are engaging, quirky, and fun enough even with the sizzle.
I highly recommend if you like big protective guys, head strong women and monsters galore. Oh, just one side note..those monsters are the protective guys, too.
Enjoy
